We arrived here around 4 o'clock on a Monday afternoon and found it to be pretty quiet which was wonderful because we were looking for something that was low-key. They have soft jazz music playing in the background, which was perfect. It wasn't blaring so you could actually have a conversation. They have a huge selection of beers on tap - 23 to be exact. They also had several ciders on top that they do in house! There is tons of space here so if you have a large group, this is an excellent location to bring them to. They also have a little kids play area as well and it's totally pet friendly. My husband had the black thunder and he really enjoyed it. It's not overly heavy very easy to drink. Has hints of coffee but finishes with a nice chocolate note. I tried Ricky's rosé cider, very light very easy to sip on. I also tried the big green cider, which I really liked. Little dry, but not overly so. They also have a permanent food truck that serves Mexican inspired dishes, such as tacos and quesadillas, but they also have some other general food like chicken wings. I ordered two tacos ($5.50/each) - the carnitas and the pollo. Both were packed full of meat! It was exceptional and I truly felt I got my moneys worth. I came here today for a meet up. This was my first time here and the space is large and excellent for big groups! Nothing fancy about the space. It's very casual with an industrial design. The menu is vast with plenty of beer options and some non alcoholic choices as well. I ordered the frozen Strawberry marg ($10) and it was delicious! My only complaint is that the air conditioner was not working inside it was extremely hot inside :( The bartenders were friendly and inviting. Loved the kind service. ABW has been around a while now. Looks like they added a public area later on. Brewery pub with an outside play area for kids. They have a nice selection of craft beers, including seasional rotations, a cider or two, cocktails and some wines. Very casual. Easy going atmosphere. We liked the Ranch Water cocktail, very nice light, crisp and refreshing. The Trail Stout imperial is not as bitter as most with notes of caramel and chocolate maybe amaretto. Lovely. Steve and I recently had a collaboration beer that Austin Beerworks did with Lucky Envelope Brewing for what looked to be for the 2024 Lunar New Year,the Year of the Dragon. Power & Elegance is the name of the beer that we had and it is a Japanese Rice Lager. It was excellent and I gave it very high marks on Untappd. Flavor features to find with this wonderful lager are grainy, sweet (a natural kind of sweetness) and tea. I've spent some time at their Springdale location, but today is the first time I made my way to their first location. Inside there's eight large picnic tables to sit at with six 90 barrel fermenters off to the side. By the entrance, you'll find condiments, their event board and fountain drinks. It does have that sparse industrial feel to it, but they do have a great beer, cocktail, cider, wine, and NA list. Unfortunately, there's little in the way of AC within the space. Outside there's lots of canvas covered seating, including some uncovered seating near the food truck. Although we did not order anything from the food truck, I hear they serve some legendary Saturday and Sunday brunches from 11 till one. Their beer menu features some in-house craft beer concoctions and they even have some house made beers that are packaged to go. One unique item that you will not find in retail is their THC seltzers to go. They do offer the seltzer on draft, but you're limited to two and you cannot combine it with a beer. If you're interested in combining running with drinking, they have a run club that meets Wednesdays at 6 PM. The beers they make here are definitely solid and on point which explains their success. We had a party of about 25 people congregate here for a farewell party and the space itself was perfect. The staff seemed annoyed that we were there and were not welcoming, hospitable, and altogether seemed kinda miserable. The beer menu may be larger than the food menu. Many choices to select. The brewery has both indoor and outdoor seating. It is fairly large with long tables and benches to be shared by many guests. There is parking in front and across the road. It is located close to Burnet Road nestled between many industrial buildings. Love this place! Found this hidden bar near my place on google maps and came to check it out. Super fun and local vibe with patio seating and a nice sized indoor area. Staff were super friendly and you can see the distillery through the glass walls. This seems to be the most popular craft brewery in the area and its proven to be so! The beers here are pretty good and the pricing is extremely fair, especially compared to the rest of the breweries I went to over the week. Its a pretty classic brewery setup which isn't as creative as some of the others, but it makes due! The Pearl Snap is still king there. The service was also decently good with friendly bartenders. We got a order of wings with mango habanero sauce. There is not like food that encourages more beer drinking! The wings were delicious. I came here the other day with a friend to have a chat and really get ready to center ourselves for the week ahead. I ordered a Lazer Salad which is a double IPA. Here is the breakdown: The beer appears as a golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The aroma of the brew gives a tropical fruit vibe with hints of tangerine and mango mixed with some undertones of a grapefruit hop and a little bit of pine. The taste begins with a tropical fruit sweetness mixed with a doughy taste. As the taste lingers, more and more hop comes to the tongue starting out with grapefruit followed by some flavors of an herbal and pine hop. The body of the brew is average in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is lighter. Great to have Austin Beerworks in the neighborhood. What a great addition to Northeast Austin. The turnoff for ABW is pretty quick, so ensure you're going slowly when you get close because there aren't safe turnaround spots close by. They have a big parking lot, but feels like it's no where close to big enough based on the size of the land. The layout here really confuses me. The indoor facility is tiny. Maybe 25 tops, nothing more than that, but they have tons and tons of acres all around them. They should have double or tripled the indoor space considering how hot Texas gets for many months a year. They are building something off to the side that looks like it might be a tent but who knows. The beer is more expensive than it should be since it's brewed on sight, it's not like we're at a restaurant or another brewery buying their beer... I think they opened too early, it's clear they were just trying to get money going and didn't have the kinks worked out yet, with that said I'm happy to continue to support them and bring my out of town friends here.
