Despite the namesake, I have never actually had an oyster here! However, for a random little space in the middle of the Domain Whole Foods, you can discover some incredible beer finds here! Seriously, some of their selections are rare, out of production, or just off the beaten beer track and never overly-priced! Granted, while I have only come here specifically for beers, I haven't had a chance to try much of their food selection except for the parm fries, which were just a tad dry, but easily fixable. I may need to start chowing when I come here especially when doing one of their specialty high abv flights! Always a great go-to for a low-key Sunday Funday, though, it is an extremely small space, but the seating turnover is pretty consistent, so you can sample or shop WF if there isn't a spot open and by the time you return there will likely be one! read more

What a place to drink !!! * * * I am madly in love with Whole Foods Domain as a restaurant. If you have any doubt about this, see the five star review I wrote of Whole Foods Domain way back when. That said, I never really thought of Whole Foods as a bar. I would walk by the Draft Shack and see a really cool room and lots and lots and lots of interesting beers. I would be too busy shopping - and I would always have to be somewhere at a specific time - so how am I supposed to stop everything and have a couple of beers at the supermarket? * * * This was like having a good friend who is a really good friend, but you never ever thought of her "that way". Then one day it all happens and the relationship goes to a new and more profound level. * * * Today I went drinking at Whole Foods. It Was Awesome. The Earth Moved. * * * The Draft Shack is small. It is hard to get a seat. Sitting on a bench outside the shack is not nearly as cool as being inside the bar itself. What makes everything work is two things. One. They stock 45 extremely fine beers. Really superior beers. Possibly only the Beer Plant can compete with Whole Foods for the breadth and quality of their holdings. And yes this DOES mean I am putting the Draught House Pub, Pint House Pizza, the Flying Saucer and all of Rainey Street on the Sorry-But-You-Lost list. The Draft Shack is a jewel, hidden in plain sight, within the Wholefoods Domain. They have the most extensive selection of craft beers on draft of any Whole Foods (according to their bar server)....and it's a claim I believe. I love that I can check out their beer selection online on TapHunter. They often have interesting limited special releases on draft that you normally can't find anywhere except by the bottle. You can even make up a beer sampler (4 beers for $10) or fill up your growler at the Shack. Best of all, they serve up delicious and inexpensive bar snacks and food that go great with your beer and are grilled/made right at the shack! My favorites are "The Jerk" (grilled jerk chicken fajitas), "Texicali" (beef burger w/cheddar/bacon/avocado/fried egg), "Porto" (portobello burger w/swiss/spinach/pesto), and the 1/2 dozen charbroiled oysters with garlic bread. Pro Tip: you can purchase in-store any bottle of beer or wine and they will open it for you to enjoy at the Shack. read more

It is the perfect place to take a break, fight off the hangry feels, and hang out. - They have 45 beers on tap as well as many wines available.... Why is it so cool to drink at the Whole Foods bar? If trying new craft beer is your favorite thing to do, then flights are for you! They even have wine flights, though I have yet to try those. The beers are unique and mostly Texan! I have even tried a funnel cake beer, and let's just say I was glad it was just a taste. Sometimes the line gets long to order a drink, but it is worth the wait. Oh and uhhhhh apparently they serve oysters. Wow what a find inside whole foods at the domain. We have looked at the place and said "we'll have to stop in sometime". Well we finally did and it's a cool place to get a pint. They have a huge selection of craft beers. They also have hard cider and wine. What's really cool is you can get your pint and shop at the same time. Pretty cool. They will give you a sample with is nice. We ordered food too. We got half dozen of charbroiled spicy oysters. They were super yummy. They had a spicy buttery garlic sauce on them with manchego cheese melted on top. It's served with charbroiled garlic bread. We also got the charbroiled cajun shrimp. This was the best shrimp I've ever had. Super flavorful. The shrimp was done perfect. Definitely will be returning. read more

We've walked by this place in Whole Foods (Domain) so many times, thinking one day we gotta try that place. Saturday was that day, and what a great decision. The place is pretty small, with maybe 5 or 6 tables and around 8 stools at the bar. They have a chargriller in one corner and when the food is cooking it pulls you toward the place. We started with a couple of really good pints, they have around 30 or so on tap with some wine and cider selections as well. Wanna try something new? No problem, the staff is happy to pour you a taste. I found some new tastes I really liked including the Nebraska IPA. They have a limited menu, but they those few things really well. They do have raw oysters, but we were in the mood for grilled seafood. We had the spicy chargrilled oysters and then the grilled shrimp. They were fantastic. Best grilled shrimp I've ever had. Both are served with Parmesan garlic toast that is great on its own. We sat at our table for a couple of hours and watched the never ending parade of people walking through the Whole Foods. What a way to spend the day, very entertaining. You can also take your pint with you as you shop or take it to their outdoor seating area. I've added this place to my list of go to places for people watching and a relaxing great time. read more

I have been to the DSOB twice now and it is pretty cool. While it is not a life-changing experience, it is cool to have a bar located in a grocery store. It is also nice that they allow you to enjoy your drink in the store while you shop OR you can grab food and enjoy it at the bar. If you have not been here, it is worth stopping in the for experience. read more

I don't think I will come back here. I judge a place on three main things: 1. Service 2. Food 3. Environment Service- Our waitress, bless her heart. She seemed young but honestly, don't tell guests to follow you to a table and then take them on a walk around looking for a table. It was so awkward walking in between peoples tables just for her to nervously laugh and say, "sorry no tables". Eventually we just asked if we can just take "that open table in the corner" and she said it was fine. 1 menu for two people...waiter came to take our order and then we never saw him again. We had to get up to ask for the check. Food was not bad-but not good. Ordered the oysters, and they were sketch balls. A little on the room temp side. Ordered Salmon and Snapper for the main course-way over cooked. Environment-The place feels icky. Dirty tables, dirty floors, tables that are WAY too close to each other. Ew ew ew. This is a hidden gem. Well maybe not hidden. It's a gem most don't think enjoy because it's stuck in the middle of a grocery store. A very, very cool grocery store that encourages you to shop with an open container in hand. The craft beer selection here is vast and well chosen. Their special releases, cask drafts and nitro beers compare favorably with the more widely touted options at Easy Tiger, the Brass Tap and the Ginger Man. Even better, you can take home growlers of anything you discover that you like and can often even find it in six packs or bombers in the beer aisle of the Whole Foods in which this place is housed. Tell the knowledgable staff what you like and have them fix you up with a flight of taster-sized samples of four different beers. You'll be glad you did! read more

The good: Beer. Lots of beer. The back of the bar is a huge chalkboard that lists all their offerings on tap. Many good choices on the wall. Adelbert's, Live Oak, Maredsous. Many local choices and very high quality imports. It also appears you can grab a beer to make grocery shopping a little less stressful. The bad: Parking. After parking in the annex parking lot, which looks like it will be a building site very soon, I really needed a beer. On a Saturday afternoon, you can expect to be directed into a gravel parking lot by a police officer. It really feels like you are going to a music festival. Too bad you are only going for some oysters and beer. The food - not so good. The menu is very small since they specialize in oysters. Two options: charbroiled and raw. They did have a shrimp cocktail and a few other offerings, but we went craving charbroiled oysters. We were fairly disappointed. The oysters were under-broiled. They were nearly raw. I don't mind raw oysters, but I prefer charbroiled, and long enough to impart a smoky grilled taste. These were lukewarm and barely grilled. The space is also really small. There is a bit of standing room outside the main bar area, but seating for a maximum of 20-25. Good enough if people order, eat, and move on, but when we were there people tended to linger. We were lucky enough to grab a table before a line formed outside the bar. I may give it another go and request my oysters cooked a little longer. Or I guess I could just settle for raw and skip the disappointment. read more

Never tried their oysters but the wife has and she loves them. I love the beer selection. Every time we hit Whole Foods we make a beeline for this place. It's about 40 beers on tap and a few wines too! The prices are outstanding for the craft beers they serve. I used to love this place. Been coming for years but never again. They had great, fresh oysters on the half shell. Beautiful beer bar with a great collection of beers on tap. What could be better? Well eventually they say they can't serve oysters on the half shell from the bar anymore. Only cooked oysters are served at the bar. You have to get up, go to the seafood counter and get them to do them for you. I did this as I loved the spot. Even though the monger always seemed slightly annoyed. Well I returned on Valentines day as it has become a kind of tradition. We waited 15-20 min to place an order. This year when we asked for shucked oysters it was like asking him to give up his first born. But we said, "no problem. I understand it's busy. We're just gonna get a drink and wait." We think at least we can get some cooked oysters. But the bar is closed. WHAT IS THE POUNT OF AN OYSTER BAR WHERE YOU CAN'T GET OYSTERS?!?! This isn't some random slow night. This was a Friday. This was Valentine's Day and they should've been appropriately staffed. We ended up canceling our oysters but apparently that wouldn't have mattered because he was just coming to tell us he couldn't do that anyway.
