I could never say anything bad about this bar. I can't say I've ever had the trouble of long lines or tourists. The prices are true, the food is stellar, and it's LOCAL. It really doesn't make sense to go anywhere else around here. The TVs and projector are always playing popular sport games & fights. When sports aren't on they are showing a Criterion Collection level of movie choices. The bartenders are cool and they know it and I love that. The patio is huge and inside is kept nice and breezy. A little slice of heaven. Please never change!

A tall glass of beer with condensation sits on a bar counter, with a blurred bar background and colorful lights.

Just a divey place for locals I only had a beer. Did not have anything else the price was fair. Bar tender was friendly. It had some games and plenty of room to sit. If I am in the area and I want to just sit down and relax have a brew and talk to locals this will be my place.

Here's a nice view of the bar. - The image shows a bar with a dark, patterned ceiling, two mounted TVs displaying a sports game, and a bar counter with patrons and bartenders. The setting appears casual with wooden flooring and seating.

Here's a joint that I have been aware of for many years, yet I forget exists at all until I drive by it every 3 or 4 years or so. I pulled off of Mo-Pac once about 15 years ago just to run in for a quick pee. After that, I quickly left with nary a glance toward the bar. But as fate would have it, I visited this place a few weeks back only because my wife's friend - let's call her Candy - wanted us to watch a Notre Dame football game with her and some of her other friends, none of whom I had ever met before. I don't give a damn about Notre Dame football. They weren't playing any Texas team, either, so I was wholly uninterested in this spectacle. We made a point to show up a tad later than Candy told my wife the game would start, but it turned out that Candy misinformed us about the game's start time. It would be nearly another hour before the Notre Dame kickoff. And I was hungry. They took my order at the bar for a Black N' Blue Burger and even gave me a number - 39 - to place on my table. Nearly an hour later - right before the kickoff - I went back up to the bar to inquire about my food. That's when I was informed that they were out of nearly everything foodwise, except fried cheese. They knew this right after they took my order, yet never bothered to come out and let me know. It was a Saturday night, and this place had no real food. Yikes. For my troubles, they gave me some fried cheese on the house. It was...blah. I didn't want fried cheese. I never want fried cheese. The draft beers I drank were cold enough I suppose, though a bit on the pricy side. Ultimately, I doubt I will ever return to this place on my own accord, that is unless I need to run through to pee again.

Wings, cheese fries, and part of a burger - A basket of chicken wings with celery sticks and a side of dipping sauce is placed on a wooden table at a restaurant or pub.

My crew has been coming here for years and it's a perfect chill dive bar for Austinites. Inside they have a big screen and other TVs where you will always find the games on. I truly come here for their food though. My go-to is their wings. They are on the larger side for wings these days. Perfectly crispy skin each time. My new favorite is cheesy fries. I killed the basket and although it was plentiful I still wanted more. Now their burgers are the real highlight here. They cook it perfectly medium rare each time. Love the beer selection. My favorite is their haze and you can't beat a $5 draft! The place truly is hidden if it's your first time, the parking lot is very dark. They have a patio with lots of space. It is not dog friendly though is the only bummer here.

I have been to this bar twice and absolutely love it! The first time I came in it was pretty slow so I was able to talk to the staff. They were amazing. I had the mean green burger and highly recommend it. Spicy and full of flavor, it was so good. The second time I came in they all remembered not only my name but my drink as well. That's top notch for me. I will continue to come to this pub for the remainder of my stay in Austin. Love this little jewel!

A little piece of old Austin vibe. I love the patio. Late night snacks. Dark - the way a bar should be. Always good tunes. Nice staff

Looking for a place to watch March Madness and it felt like a humid day packed like sardines in a Boston T car when we walked in and out of Lavaca. We were quite enlightened to walk into The Pub, right around the corner, welcoming us to a cool and dim space with tiled floor, trimmed walls, and embellishments of faux trees. The space wasn't overly packed and a good amount of TVs to feel supported by at least three different sporting events. Even a TV in the men's room (not women's). Service was great! Regular table sweeps. Eric at the bar was very kind and accommodating. What to order? You're in an Irish Sports Bar. A Guinness is a must. The heads were perfect. Pastrami sandwich. You won't be disappointed. And the Burger was actually pretty good too, and unique with touches of arugula and mixed brisket and ground beef meat. Of course, it's always a fun touch to have some special sauce offered. The only thing I noticed that seemed unusual was, not only an automatic tip applied but also, a credit card processing fee added to the bill. Felt a little odd and out of place. Of course, I'm not sure if this is applied with regular service, as we ordered directly from the bar (despite sitting at a high top nearby). Another observation: a lot of people ordered wine and even espresso martinis here. Either they know something I don't, or this place calls to a variety of people. Cheers!

Ticked away in a little complex without 79 visibility along with a couple of other places that don't seem to get much traffic either. Finally made our first visit so we could try "the best fish & chips" in the Austin area. I was surprised how big it was, they have a patio, a bar area and lots of tables I was shocked as from the outside it looks tiny. Service was fantastic which was shocking with them closing soon. The service was enough to want me to go back hopefully for us in this area they end up somewhere close by as I know how hard it is to find good workers. Pretzels were good! Onion rings were our favorite! Their version of the Philly was just okay, was very plain with not much flavor hubby didn't even finish half. But the star of the show was the fish and chips. My son was over the moon! Couldn't even finish half of it and he wanted to haha. Sad to see they will be closing their doors but hopefully the owner has something else up his sleeve as they were onto something with this place.

I ordered the fish and chips. The piece of fish was enormous! It was cooked well, if a little too much breading for my taste. The chips were really good. The tartar sauce was different than I am used to, a little runny and pink tinged, but it was good. The mushy peas were yummy and added an authenticity to the dish. I didn't really use the curry sauce that also came with the dish. To me it doesn't go with fish or chips. I did taste it, and the flavor was great.
