Happened upon this dive bar in Pflugerville. My BF had been here years ago and decided to stop for a Sunday afternoon drink. Was a great time! This is exactly what you want in a dive bar. It's dirty, barely lit, and the decor is questionable. (Really it's a bunch of bras hanging from the ceiling and other bits of hung up items.) And then the food is good, the booze is great. The staff is nice, but you'll probably have to flag someone down at some point. A stool or two might be wobbly as well. The food is standard fried bar food. The fried pickles are extra salty, and really good with the ranch they come with. I'm told the fried ravioli are delicious and the regular fries come covered in Cajun seasoning. They have bar trivia on the TVs and a big screen for karaoke in addition to a dartboard and such. This is such a nice spot for large groups. We were able to push tables together and get everyone cozied up. I'll come back! read more

We ordered Sunday lunch (takeout) from Red Rooster's today. It was our first time. Do not dismiss this place as just a bar. Their burgers are legit. I'd compare them to Hopoddy or another really great gourmet burger joint. I actually think it was better than Hopdoddy. They use Ruffino's beef! You can tell that their ingredients are high quality! We had the Ranch Hand, which is essentially fried pickles and ranch, the Bourbon (bbq, bacon, cheese) and the kids had bacon cheeseburgers. Their veggies were fresh and crisp. I loved the purple onions on the burgers. Their truffle fries were delicious as well. We also enjoyed the cherry limeade. Support local. Eat delicious food that's a great value for the quality and big portions. I could easily eat 1/2 of my meal and be satisfied but it was so good I ate more than that. read more

Support your local dive bar! In the heart of 'downtown Pflugerville" are you really a Pflugy if you have never been to this bar? The bartender was super friendly. We came recently after an early wedding on a Thursday morning, doesn't get much more dive than that. One less star because they were out of Michelob Ultra (for my friends) and the pool sticks were on their last leg making it hard to play with them. Prices are super cheap as a dive bar should be. The efforts in this establishment, and the quality of those they hire is completely deplorable. It has gone extremely back downhill. I have never seen a bar so extreme with their level of service, then lack thereof. But this last visit was the last straw. Absolutely despicable. I have supported this business for well over a year, but I cannot anymore. I went to enjoy karaoke during a mid-week very busy work week, I thought it would be good to have some relief with karaoke. There is nobody at the karaoke stand. Tonya, the karaoke host was running to bartend, the bartender was nowhere to be found. From the very first drink, as I sat next to my white counterpart, as she completely ignored me, and didn't actually take the order until I walked AWAY from the bar. Anna was the bartenders' name. Furthermore I decided I would still have a good time. However this was virtually impossible. Anna catered to this group of her own friends and continuously skipped over me. I tried to get her attention over and over. This was to the point of me walking over to the other side of the bar to Tonya, the karaoke host to find Anna in order to get her attention. She was less than sorry. Upon closing my tab. She also ignored me. I asked about 5 times for my tab to be closed. A girl I met that night was able to close her tab, and noticed I was still waiting for my tab after several people have come and gone. However, this girl was overcharged. (To later give her CASH for the difference). So there has to be some really shifty behavior going on there. I'm not sure what type of operation it is, but as soon as I questioned my $52 tab for 3 drinks and a shot, I was immediately treated as if I was causing an issue. Anna told me I bought drinks for 8 people, but then also said I couldn't afford my tab... so which was it? The bartender proceeded to yell profanities regarding my sexuality so explicit as far as anatomy. I never raised my voice, I never got loud, and I never disrespected anyone. However I was unable to even so much as close my tab because my arm was grabbed by someone who was picking the bartender up, and he grabbed it from my hand and shoved me out of the bar. Disgusted, upset, shocked. I have friends that have regulared this bar for a while. However, this is going all the way to BBB., The Media, etc. I will never be back. read more

I think this place is a diamond in the rough, next door you have the whiskey room and after a couple beers there and some pool you can head one door over to the karaoke on a Friday. Gets busy too so you don't have to go all the way downtown to socialize. Staff is really cool and they even sing some songs too with an opening. 3 1/2 stars. This is a cool dive bar with decent bar food. I went on a Thursday night and they had karaoke going. It wasn't that busy so there was just one bartender taking food and drink orders. We ordered fried pickles, hot honey wings, Cajun wings and fries and the fried pickles were my favorite. They were crunchy with thick coating, not soggy like some places. The hot honey wings were more honey than hot, but they were good as well along with the Cajun wings and fries. We decided to try this place for the first time and it was hella good!! Customer service was amazing we did take out and they welcomed us very kindly, sweet employees! I loved the message on their box!! The inside of the building was vibing ! The burger is a great size for the price!! This place has a lot of potential but it has a long way to go. The positive is the vibe that you feel with other patrons of the establishment. Everyone seems friendly, the karaoke is fun, and the beer is cold according to my friends. That is about all I can say that is positive. The negatives are: If you do not like the intense smell of smoke do not go here. Their website says it is smoke-free. That might be true now but either the smoke pouring in from the outside patio is so strong or the smoke from the prior bar has completely soaked into every part of the building. Do not eat the food here. I didn't think that anyone could screw up Frito pie but these people did. My date didn't think anyone could screw up quesadillas but these people did. For $8.50 I got a small handful of Fritos with some liquid that looked like diarrhea covered by canned cheese. I did not eat it. I did try to eat one slice of my date's quesadilla which seemed like it must have been a frozen quesadilla because it still had ice crystals in the middle. The tortillas, if you can call them that tasted like paper. They would be much better if they did not serve any food at all then to serve the nasty stuff they did serve. I was a designated driver so I didn't drink. They only had two types of soft drinks available. They are $7.50 each for a small glass with ice filled to the top an ounce or two of soft drink. I would not have stayed except that I was in a large group and everyone was having fun with the karaoke. read more

My posse finally got our schedules together yesterday to celebrate our homegirl's birthday on an otherwise chill Monday evening at Red Rooster's. There was a light crowd of regulars when we arrived, and the bartender greeted us cheerfully when we entered. Amanda, as we came to know her, was quick to start our drink orders as we settled into one of the big, sumptuous booths. We started ordering appetizers and snacks from the kitchen, pelting her with requests, and even calling them out across the dance floor as the cravings hit us. I figured a couple of staff were doing the cooking behind the scenes because the food came out rapid-fire, steaming hot, and very satisfying. One of us noticed, though, that Amanda seemed to have Diana Prince thing going on, because she disappeared for a minute now and then when the kitchen was busy. You guessed it... not only was she keeping us lubricated and entertained in the front of the house, but Wonder Woman was also running the kitchen and doing the cooking during the slower part of the evening shift! We only wish she could have camped out at the table with us for a while, but she was running the whole place like a pro. Cheers to Amanda for making our little birthday celebration extra special. So we were "those girls" at Red Roosters the other night. My friend and I were drinking on Rainey when we decided to head back to Pflugerville where I live. We wanted to stop by Red Rooster's so I could show her a local spot before heading home. Our "stop by" ended up being 11PM to Last Call. Too...many....shots. But yay fun time! First off, everyone in this bar is the nicest person you will meet! From the bartender to the DJ, to the regulars....everyone was seriously awesome! It was karaoke night and that in itself is always a good time. They also have some fun bar games (pool, ring on a string thing, etc.) We danced on the light up floor, we met some cool people and we had too many drinks. This is our experience. This place seemed it would be fun because right away we noticed the really cool LED dance floor, but the staff wasn't very welcoming. It is a bar for a younger crowd (fresh 21 year olds) that is for sure. A lot of sloppy young people. Just not laid back like many other bars around the area. The Karaoke was not good as well, you can not hear anyone on stage singing. There are better bars right next door and across the street. Came in to support new bartender Tiffani on a Sunday evening. Was a little apprehension about this based on some of the reviews. We came on a great night. Tiffani was great as usual and I will definitely be back to see her again. My husband and I played a great game of bar bingo. There were fun little games in between bingo rounds. We won sunglasses and fuzzy dice. Then we stayed until closing playing darts and pool. And we had a small hula hoop contest. Great time!!! I have been coming here since January of 2012 and this place really is like a second home to me. Where else could you go where the owner will actually buy you a Christmas present? Really, the staff and owners are so involved and they really care! Sure the place may look a little rough around the edges, but I think that's the whole charm of it. I really can't day enough how much I love this bar and I would highly recommend it to anyone. My favorite nights are Thursdays (karaoke run by big red the owner) and Saturdays (karaoke run by o.e of our regulars, lizette). So.. if you are some up tight hoity toity type, you wont like it. But if you are a normal blue collar looking for a good bartender, a good beer, and a good time, this is your place. read more

I do love me a good dive bar! Rickety old building, friendly staff, friendly customers, ceiling beams dripping with the bras of patrons past. Glad I could smoke there, but there is a patio too, which is cool. I went on 3rd of July, when most of the town was at the lake for fireworks, so it wasn't terribly busy - but that didn't stop the dj from playing some great music. Prices were average, and they keep a cooler of water for customers to help themselves on a side bar - thoughtful. The only drawback was that the only sink in the ladies' room is located inside one of the two stalls. Thank God I carry hand sanitizer in my purse! I plan to go back for karaoke one day soon...
