They lived up to anyone's Expectation of a pool joint. I didn't see any powder bags (I guess covid struck again. I thought the drinks were a little too far on the mixer/liquor ratio. I ordered a double bourbon and coke, and it tasted like coke. Not what I wanted. It's got decent tables, the house sticks weren't warped for the most part. I'll go again. It is what you expect from a pool hall. It is also a smoking one. Sundays and Monday's are free pool days. They have a decent looking food menu with typical bar food options. I didn't order any of it this go around but maybe next time. The waitress Elena was on top of service and kept our drinks coming. There was a "bar fight" over a disagreement of pool rules and staff quickly sorted that out and said it's common but also not a big deal. Pool tables have the automatic ball pockets that go back to the end of the table for ease of racking. Also have score keepers above the pool tables and other little nods to making pool either competitive or a leisure activity. My plus one and I are definitely novices to this activity so it's been fun learning and seeing others skills and tricks. read more

Skinny Bob's is certifiably a serious player's pool hall which also does great to cater to more casual players as well. These are by far the nicest tables and ball racks that I've used, and it only costs $5/hr which rivals practically all other pool halls with way more sub-par equipment that typically charge $10-$12/hr. I also tried their fried pickles while playing and have to say they were really good as well; .more of a thin breading that was crunchy and hot instead of the thicker pre-packaged feeling kind that you typically get from pool halls which have a "kitchen." read more

I was there the first hour they opened and it was too smoky. It took me a couple of hours to recover. They do not have that wall anymore that separated the nonsmoking room. Phew! This place STINKS. If you want to smell like an overfull ashtray and have to shed your clothes the minute you reach the house, this is the joint for you. The waitresses and bartenders are very nice but the manager is ugly AND grumpy AF. Makes you feel wanted, like a biker gang crashin your daughters wedding. If you are a pool junkie like me then you will be very excited to hear that these guys have 7' Diamond tables!! They keep them in great condition, too. This is the "extension" of Skinny Bob's but they are separated by a wall and doorway. The original location is smoking and this one is non-smoking. It is a bit painful to play pool here during the day since the windows are not tinted but otherwise it is really a great place to hang out if you like to shoot pool in a non-smoking pool hall. Came in here a few weeks ago to shoot some pool with my husband. We wanted to ck this place out. My husband said the reviews mentioned having great quality pool tables. Eh. they were ok. definitely not "great" quality. Place was very smoky. had a poker game going on, and a pool tournament on one side and the folks that cant play very well on the other (that would be where we were!) They also have those games that look like slot machines ( I think they call them donation machines? something like that) We had a few drinks, played a few games it was cool. What would get the 2 other stars.. no smoking. I walked out reeking like an ash tray filled with dirty dish water. Other than that, cool place to shoot some pool. read more

There's a lot to say about a pool hall neatly tucked away in a great part of the city. To be honest, I don't think I can say enough great things about this establishment. The wait staff and management make it a point to know your names and do the best they can to ensure that you never have an empty drink if you don't one. The tables are 9 ft Gold Crowns on Simonis tournament blue cloth (the best stuff on the market), the balls are all beautifully taken care of Super Aramith pro balls, and the tables have a ball return! Not to mention they have a 3 cushion table, the only one of those for a very long ways. They just recently opened a non smoking side with no other than 8 Diamond 7ft Bar Tables (same tables used for Vegas). Including a full bar and food. They have tons of tournaments and multiple leagues to add on to the excellent experience. Some of the best players in the country play here on a regular basis and they're always willing to give some advice. With the addition to the non smoking side and the Diamond tables, Skinny Bob's has risen to the ranks of one of the top pool halls in the country. If you've never been, go! You'll fall in love one way or another. Talk to the wait staff and don't be afraid to approach the players if you want to learn more. read more

Walking into Skinny Bob's Billiards was like stepping back to my 19th year on this earth, where all I pretty much did was play pool. If I wasn't sleeping or eating, I was playing pool. And more specifically, I was entering every 9 ball tournament I could get my hands on - which this place happens to do, too. So, I'm pretty excited about that. The service is pretty great, and the tables are legit - none of the loose crap tables you see outside of pool halls. Not too bad, I must say. The patrons are very laid back and the service staff is friendly. If you do not like smoking allowed in venues, do not come here. The owners of this place are all very nice, and the bartenders are GREAT! Nice, laid back place to hang out with friends after work. I've only been there late a couple of times, but even though this bar allows smoking, I'm never bothered by the smoke - 5 smoke eaters do a GREAT job of allowing me to breathe easy. They have 5 or 6 big screen tvs lined up behind the bar with a variety of sports on, and during happy hour I frequently get to see Travel Channel or Bravo. Ah, during football season, they have Sunday ticket, which is nice in ANY bar. I don't recall seeing dart boards here, but there are more than 20 pool tables, all of which have nice, new felt on them. The jukebox is one of the internet ones, so that means you can play just about anything you want. During happy hour, it tends to be a lot of 70s music until I put some money in and start playing blues & pop. On rare occasions, it goes to oldschool country, but luckily that doesn't last too long usually. :) The happy hour crowd here is mostly an older crowd (40+), but there are a few of us under 40 in residence, too, be it sitting at the bar or shooting pool. They have pool leagues, are the home of the Texas Open 9 ball championship, and on Friday nights they have a Texas Hold 'em game. read more

I spoke to the manager (Geri) about coming down to shoot a few games of pool while I'm in the Round Rock area for business and she made it worth my time and effort. I came on Saturday afternoon and it was not busy at all. The pool tables are spaced out evenly and don't have a crowded feel, so there is no issue of being disturbed while plotting out shot strategy. It is not a smoke-free establishment, though I should mention there is not a heavy smoke odor due to the ventilation and fans. They charge $8/hr for a table, which seems reasonable. First of all, I am a huge fan of billiards. I've been playing since I was 12yrs old. When I go into a pool hall, I am looking for good quality equipment. Skinny Bob's definitely offers exactly what I am looking for. They have 9ft tables with Simonis Cloth. This place is sure to make you a better player! They have great drink specials, multiple tournaments throughout the year, and they also have poker tables. The staff has been great every time and they just opened a non smoking section! Now that this non smoking section is open, I'm sure it will make my experience better. No more teary eyes and ashtray smelling clothes at the end of the night! Oh, and since they host tournaments like the Texas Open, I had the privilege of meeting Vivian Villareal (The Texas Tornado) She is a professional pool player! I was star struck for a minute! My date found this place online and I never even knew it was so close to Flix. Been driving by it to go to the movies for years. Went into then"Smoke Free" side for some drinks. Sign on the door said "No Outside Drinks", which is understandable. Several people playing pool inside and a bar with no one behind it. We looked in the window to the "Smoking" section and saw it was darker and had more people. So we thought we'd go over since it had more of a "pool hall" feel. Went to the bar and instead of stools they had office chairs. We were like "well that's kinda cool". We sat and it ends up it wasn't that cool. Felt like kids at the adult table. After sitting a few minutes with no service we decided to go back to the sterile section and sit on normal bar stools. We made our way back and it was just us and one other guy at the bar with no bartender. Waited a good five minutes and nothing. Then the guy on the end of the bar gets up and it ends up he's an employee. Couldn't see his apron. He walks to the back behind the bar to never be seen again. That was the cue to get outta there. The sign on the door shoulda said "No Inside Drinks" too. Their website talks about making you feel like "family" but I guess they meant a family like mine where everyone resents each other and doesn't speak. I have been a regular at Skinny Bob's for about 7 yrs now. I always enjoy my time there. Very friendly staff, excellent service, and GREAT tables. Those old Brunswick 9 ft tables are well maintained and recovered every year. Great, stable tables and fast as greased glass! The folks there are very generous with their time to help and very kind. All in all, if you are looking for an awesome place to hang out with friends and shoot some pool, you can never go wrong with Skinny Bob's. Based on the other reviews and the fact that a pool pro owns this place, we drove to RR to try it out. The tables looked great and it was so packed that you had to park on the side street. Sadly, it was so smoky in there that you couldn't see anything! I was really surprised how many were smoking big cigars. I know the other reviews said the smoke wasn't too bad, but we couldn't stay. This pool hall has one my favorite bars in Round Rock! Love to come to get a beer after work. The bar chairs are actually office lounge chairs "super laid back" plus free pool on Monday's which is a plus. Pretty good place...if you can deal with the smoke. We went in on a recent Monday and were impressed with free pool night. Also the beer was cheap and the service was friendly. On top of the free pool, the quality of tables and cues was very nice. Much better than the usual beat up 'quarter' tables of my past. But the smoke was too much for me and some in our group. If you like to smoke/can tolerate other's smoke, this place is a great option and should be worth 3-4 stars. But I won't be back. I'll send my business to smoke free spots. One strange moment while there-a rap song came on the sound system that was over flowing with the 'n' word. Could have done without that. Stopped in to finish watching the football game and the service was on point didn't have to wait for a drink and our server was very attentive. After our game we found out that they play free roll poker on Sunday at 3:00 so I played; the people playing were welcoming and very friendly. I enjoyed myself here and would return for more football and poker games. If you like playing pool they have plenty of tables available, the only downfall is that it is a smoking bar. read more

I had heard about Skinny Bob's for a couple of years, but felt intimidated by the quality of players I heard frequented the hall. Well about six months ago I left my regular spot and headed over, OK here is how it went, I met Lupe behind the bar and without question the most informative guy ever,and professional and the Bloody Marys over the top and reasonable. Now the pool part, to my surprise average guys, no thugs just serious players, and do not put you down, if not on there level, six months later after probably 60 plus visits, I love this place, never have I seen an issue, every regular treats the place with respect cause it is there second home. I highly recommend Skinny Bob's you will be welcomed like family as I was as long as you treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. read more
