With Fontaines D.C. playing on my stereo, I stopped into the Round Rock location of Brass Tap on St. Patty's Day for a Guinness on draft with my girlfriend. Oh God, how original am I? Clearly, not at all, because the place was packed. Either at capacity or about to go over. We secured a little standing spot at the bar and enjoyed our little brews. As we looked up at the TV, the original Leprechaun movie was playing. The staff were very friendly and moving around at the speed of light to get everyone their green dyed beers. There was over an hour wait for food due to how obviously busy a bar is on International Wear Green and Drink Beer Day, which didn't concern us because we had already eaten. For everyone else, sucks to be them. Our Guinnesses were good, and I really have no complaints. The location is quite narrow, but they make the most of it. There is a ton of beers to choose from, but I only had the Guinness because, well, celebrating a commercialization of Irish culture. Stopped by for a late dinner and a pint on a Saturday night. Surprisingly there was not much of a crowd so we sat ourselves and scanned the QR code for the menu. I went to the bar and ordered (no wait staff at the tables). I ordered the Fish-n-Chips w/ a Pearl Snap, my date had the Biggy BBQ Mac Burger with a Dragon Fruit Daiquiri. For the positives: our drinks were very good, hard to mess up a draught beer, but it was not flat & just cold enough. She absolutely loved the daiquiri, side note- she's with me so standards aren't super high. Bar staff were super helpful and attentive, patio was very chill and secluded from the other spots surrounding it. The bathroom was clean and didn't smell like vomit. Negatives: My fish and chips were below expectations. Their grease was entirely too hot and it was flash fried causing the batter to be too crispy and the fish was piping hot. The selection of cod was not good either most of the pieces were blackened meat and the chips were crinkle cut fries, a letdown. I wasn't expecting a London level plate but it was a very sad and lonely one. Her burger was loaded with BBQ sauce and her mac-n-cheese balls were fried similarly causing the same burnt batter. It wasn't the worst meal I've had at a chain beer joint, looking at you Fox and Hound, but it wasn't close to the best. The Flying Saucer has a very good bar style fish and chips plate that costs about the same but they pay attention to the details that make it better. Overall I would not recommend and I will not be going back but in a pinch it won't make you sick. read more

OH MY GOSH! This is a gem in the heart of downtown Round Rock. The prices and bar food, were exceptional. Their service was good despite only having one employee, the owner. He helped with any questions hand delivered or food and drinks. It looks small from the storefront, but has deep sitting to the end of the bar. It's Across the street is lamppost coffee. I've driven and browsed through shops. Their tater tots are hands down the best you will ever have. The perfect crunch and softness once you bite in. My jam, cheese onion brisket sandwich was a delight and the burger was delicious. Make sure you stop and enjoy some amazing selection of beers on tap and yummy food to go along. read more

The Brass tap is beautifully decorated for the holidays. We stopped by on Christmas Eve for drinks and had a great time. The peanut butter and chocolate whiskey cocktail was on the sweeter side but strong and enjoyable. The peanut butter infused flavor was definitely interesting. The patio sign said, "Please see bar for service," so we went inside, only to be told to go back outside, and wait for a server. No server ever came. When we finally tracked one down ourselves outside, we were told they weren't taking any more tables, and that we needed to go back inside to place our order. So we went back inside to the same person that said to go outside, ordered, and were told someone would bring our drinks out. Shockingly... no one did. We had to go back inside again to get them ourselves. Then only 3 out of 4 meals came out, so once again we had find a server, and let them know an entire meal was missing. They had to walk over to the food truck and remind them to make it. And after all that, the food was unbelievably mediocre. What's crazy is the restaurant wasn't really that busy when this happened. I sat at the bar this time. Service was phenomenal from all of the bartenders. I ordered 2 cocktails off their specialty menu, and both were very well made. (And I am picky about my cocktail quality.) I was excited to see the new food menu as well, and decided to try the pickle chips with buttermilk ranch. The chips were fried perfectly, and had a little kick to them which surprised me but was enjoyable. The buttermilk ranch tasted freshly made. You could taste the herbs in it. The bar wasn't overly busy for a Friday night, but I was there on the earlier side of the evening. It was nice since it allowed me to chat with my friend without yelling. Had a great bartender, good cocktails, good beer, laughably bad "garlic" fries. Look I really like this place even though it's a little overpriced but the fries I had the other day for $11.50 were awful. Cisco crinkle cut fries drowned in what was described as garlic oil. They were depressing and tasted of nothing but fry oil. I've had food here before and enjoyed it but this menu item should be removed. Terrible quality fries swimming in oil. If that was my only impression of the place I wouldn't come back. I will likely return for drinks but the price and quality of the food item we had, I'll never be ordering food here again. If management reads this I would encourage you to go get a fresh serving of those fries and you decide if they should still be on the menu representing the business. Sorry if this reads harsh but if you charge $11.50 for a basket of fries there is some expectation they are made in house and will have some effort put into them. Live music is always fun on Saturday night! Indoors is always lively and a good time. Back patio is so nice especially after recent renovations in downtown. They have fans in summer and gas heaters in winter. Along with a really cool fire pit area. Great beer selection and staff is always really friendly. Parking garage basically directly behind makes it so easy to get to. Food could be better though, pickle chips were very greasy. read more

Now, he's got our drink order ready to go the second we walk through the door. It feels great to be welcomed and remembered like that, especially since we moved here recently and needed a new "spot." This is a pretty cool place to visit if you find yourself in the area. We came in here and decided to get some drinks and grilled cheeses. My friend was ranting and raving about the burger. He said it was in the top 5 best burgers he has ever had. The drinks were alright, I got the pineapple cider which was the best tasting drink according to everyone. The vodka seemed a little off but it was fine. The service was alright also, they were not the most attentive but they also realized when they had to bus our table. Went in at like 10:30 pm on Sunday of labor day weekend looking for food, was told the kitchen was closed which is totally fine... but then I was offered chips and salsa, this where things went down hill. Well after waiting for like 5 plus minutes, (which would've been fine under different circumstances) I joked to my girlfriend about getting some store bought chips with Tostitos salsa, which it literally turned out to be. But the icing on the cake, is I was told I had to pay $5 did I make a fuss?? No. Did it bother me that much? Yes! The best part of this bar is the many great local beers on tap, in a great location. We were able to sample a few before we decided on our pour which was very kind of the bar back. The interior is pretty memorable, all wood and feels comfy cozy. There are a few different rooms, the bar is more length than wide and you kind of have to weave down the hall to find people at tables or outside. Great place to have conversation with friends as the tvs are usually on low of muted for music and the different seated areas, like booths, help block out others conversations. We did have to find our waitress/just go up to the bar instead a few times to get what we needed and had to wait a long time for our pork sliders when there wasn't many patrons in the bar and the food was okay, but not memorable. read more

Great selection of beer! I love porters and stouts and they have plenty to choose from. You can choose to sit outside or inside. The bartenders are great and kind! The reason why I'm giving them 4 stars is because their food is horrible. The Mac and cheese as well as the Brussels sprouts always have a weird smokey burnt taste. Go the safe route and order the chicken tenders and fries! If you are hungry, eat somewhere else since this is a bar after all. read more

Nice place with lots of outdoor seating. Many beer options. I loved their brie, bacon and blackberry jam sandwich. Will have to come back to try some of their other items. So I'm not really into to beer and the cool bartender introduced me to Mead for the first time an now I'm obsessed! She let me know it's been around forever and it has a way better taste than my normal cider! Now the 4 stars is more for the snack food I got, I was only planning for drinks but how can I help my self when a happy hour starts! I'm going to make this specific for my visit and what I got. Which is probably for a small demographic, that's why I want to be clear. But hey, I wish I had known. 5 stars for service, 2 for food. So this is going to be about food. I don't eat much meat and when I do it's fish. But that doesn't mean I don't occasionally crave a cheeseburger and so when that happens it's awesome to find a place that seems to have great burgers and offers an impossible meat burger option. Particularly because impossible burgers only taste good when they're cooked on a grill. But here's the thing. I'm almost positive that my impossible burger was thrown in the microwave and then put on a great bun, which it then ruined because it was cooked in a microwave and was all soggy. Gross, guys. It's fine if you don't want to serve fake meat. But don't offer it on the menu, charge $17!!!!! and then serve me a plate of nasty. (Side note: your menu said $16 and then when the bill came it was $17. Idk why but I find stuff like that sooooo annoying) Anyway. Maybe you don't eat fake meat, but if you're going to serve it you should at least try it once and see if you can make it good. Because it's not "impossible"... It just requires a grill. We also got a couple smokey old fashions which were okay. You guys might want to try and steal that recipe from whiskey cake because they've nailed it. read more

My husband and I stopped in for a drink or two and a bite to eat. We ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer. It was meh but it filled our bellies so in that aspect it got the job done. The drinks are where it is at here. My husband ordered a flight of beer. Tons of options to choose from. I ordered Bishop cider on draft. I got the strawberry (my favorite) and also the apple pineapple. All the drinks were good. We noticed that staff attention to customers had been a little lacking and very slow. This was quite a neat find! My spouse and I checked this place out last weekend and it surely did not disappoint. I tried their sangria while my spouse had a lager. My drink was sweet but not overwhelmingly sugary. Also got a few things to nibble on. I was a big fan of their cheese curds !! They are a must try. Favorite place to stop in for a drink in Round Rock! Great service, yummy food and the perfect place to chill!

I am SERIOUSLY only writing this review to shout out an employee- Sam. She is an ABSOLUTE gem, a delight, suchhhh a bright spot in this world. She is so SWEET, caring, down to earth, and at the same time energized like a little energizer bunny. I have never in my life had such OUTSTANDING service. The beer was good, the food was filling, but honestly it could have been shit And I would exclusively go back for Sam. I wish I lived closer. We went for my sister's birthday in which they warned her it may be pretty slow service due to lower staff counts on Sunday. We didnt care- Ive been in the service industry my entire life and would punch them if they were inpatient (they have learned). But I swear we didn't wait for a THING. And on top of being extremely busy and not having to wait a SECOND for anything- Sam was also sooo personable and joking and seemed to be having a great time. My four year old daughter who will not HUG ANYONE EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES could not stop hugging her. I think that says something about her and who she is. Sam, thank you for taking such great care of my family. If I ever have a rough day, I'm coming in lookin' for that hug. :) thank you thank you thank you!! Staff is always nice and chill, food is great and there are so many beer and cocktail choices to choose from! I wouldn't say come starving here but for a snack and drink this place is perfect! They have inside and outside seating. Love that they have flights for beer, I am a picky beer drinker and love flights to try new types to see if I like the beer!
