One of the few halal Texan BBQ spots in the area. We did takeout, so not sure about the service. Did the medium family order: 4 pounds of meat, 3 large sides. We tried brisket, beef ribs, and beef sausage. Sides were potato salad, creamed corn, and mac and cheese. Came with complimentary bread, pickles, and onions. The price was a hefty $140, but between 6 people, it came to about $23 per person, so I think that's pretty fair for Texan BBQ. Of the 3 meats, beef sausage was my fav, it had jalapenos in it and had quite the kick! The beef ribs, while not winning any awards, were good as well. My only criticism is that it amounted to 3 beef ribs, so we had to split each rib between 2 people. The brisket was supposed to be a mix of moist and lean with some burnt ends, but it leaned mostly lean. I would've liked more of the juicy cuts, and I didn't see any real burnt ends. It was decent, but I've had better. For my fam who only eats halal meat and hasn't had other Texan BBQ, they loved each and every piece of meat, so overall it was a great success. Everything was seasoned really well, and nothing was dried out. The sides were all really impressive. Everyone loved the creamed corn and potato salad. The mac and cheese here was better than at some other, more well known BBQ joints in the Austin area. I wish I'd read some of these reviews prior to ordering, I would have tried some of the lamb items that seem to have some fans. That'll be for next time. Even if you're not looking specifically for halal options, I think it holds its own among other BBQ joints in the greater Austin area in this tier.

I was craving BBQ, but was my craving get fulfilled? The service was friendly and there was a bit of a line. However my wait was not very long. There is no waitress, you order at the counter. Even though I didn't get the quail, I'm glad they had it on the menu. I got the brisket with green beans and BBQ beans. My sides were okay. The sides needed more love. The brisket was good, but I wish it was a little more juicy. Overall the flavor was fine . I can see myself coming back for the quail.

It's been a while since I did a review and a couple of months since I've been by to eat or get food to go. Nothing has changed !!! It's still a very solid BBQ place where EVERYTHING is delicious !!!! Great service, great atmosphere, great food !!! Tell em that the Texas Pond Bass Master (my you tube channel) sent you !!!!

This barbecue restaurant sits in a short strip center which includes a nail salon, liquor store, bake shop, and physical therapy. I was going to get the barbecue trifecta, but they do not serve St. Louis or baby back ribs. As many yelpers have pointed out, this is Halal, so no pork ribs. I got here on a Sunday around one, and there was only 4 people total in the restaurant, which means you probably never have to worry about standing in a line out the door baking in the sun like some places. The good: The brisket had a good smoke ring with a crust and was done right. The sliced turkey was very tender with just the right amount of seasoning. I like the fact that everything was wrapped separately with the pickles, onions, bread and barbecue sauce included. However, I did not get any utensils or napkins. The"OK": I got the half chicken and at first glance, it was so small I thought they gave me a quarter of chicken. At least this small bird was fairly tender, somewhat moist and well smoked. Nonetheless, it was still kind of disappointing. The sausage was firm, yet dryish with a nice jalapeño spiciness, but it was the size of a long hotdog. The only real turn off was their overly sweet pudding-like barbecue sauce. Overall what I purchased sits around the 3 1/2 to 4 star range, but they lose a half a star for their sauce. And finally, yes, the tip screen will be waiting for you. I didn't bother with any of their sides. I'll let everyone else talk about those. It's the meat that gets you through the door, not the sides. I hear their beef ribs are good. You can bring your own beer (BYOB approved) and wine here since they don't sell it. They do have water and soft drinks. It's a place I would try again. Check out the informative photos below. 31/2*

One word: lamb. Lamb ribs, lamb sausage, jalapeño cheddar lamb sausage. I don't know anyone else in Austin doing lamb sausage. It's amazing.... such a great flavor! Halal BBQ done right!

Great environment and very hospitable crew, I got the 1/4 Brisket Sandwich, Cream Corn and drink for 2. The brisket was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the sweet and smoky notes of the barbecue sauce. The cream corn was a delightful side, rich and creamy, adding a comforting touch to the meal. As I enjoyed my food, the staff frequently checked in to ensure everything was to my liking, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a satisfying meal that left me eager to return and try more of their delicious offerings.

Have you eaten bbq that is so great that you forget to take pictures of the food before you eat it. This happened to me today!? I went to the Gold's gym holiday party where Alzer's was served (brisket, sausage and turkey with green beans, Mac and cheese, beans, potato salad, and cream corn). All the bbq was flavorful and super moist. I'm a devout non-beef eater! The brisket was visually appealing so, I got lured into trying it. OMG it was good, I had seconds! The turkey was a convergence of moist and flavorful. The sausage was just ok. Note, to the sides - cream corn (buttery sweet), Mac n cheese (soft and oooy gooey God), beans (sweet and tangy) potato salad (real potatoe creamy explosion) & green beans (crunchy). Since I was at a holiday party no service was rendered. The price was great...free!! We ate at the gum so only sweat vibes. I definitely try Alzer's on another occasion.

Moist brisket, turkey, potato salad, and green chili, white cheddar mac & cheese !

I went here today for the first time. I ordered several different things. I ordered moist brisket, smoked turkey, a half chicken, quail, potato, salad, and green chili, white cheddar macaroni. Overall, I was very impressed with everything. The food was Excellent ! Definitely five stars hands-down !!!!! Definitely a must try !

    Brisket plater

Great service and the best brisket in my life! The brisket just falls apart on your fork. I liked it when General Manager checks on you to see if it is good. Definitely going back on a weekly basis while I'm in town.

This photo was taken at the front of the restaurant and you can see how clean it and that there's ample seating.

My husband and I enjoyed lunch here. He had the half rack of lamb and creamed corn. I had 1/3 brisket plate and Mac and cheese. I like my brisket moist and I was not disappointed! My husband never had lamb before and he said the smoked flavor was excellent. The creamed corn was good with enough seasoning to make it different from other creamed corn. The Mac and cheese was velvety smooth. The pickles on the side gave a nice crunch and a little sharpness that enhanced the meal.

It appears you don't need to have a Michelin star to make great BBQ. Alzer's brisket is extremely tender and juicy! Their beans are not the typical beans many restaurants serve; not overly spicy, but full of flavor. The service is prompt and friendly. Definitely on my list for BBQ!

Brisket/Turkey Sandwich with potato salad Turkey/Sausage sandwich with beans & mac&cheese!

It was great! Forgot to take a before picture but as you can see not much left for a reason lol! The potato salad was the best I've ever had

Also tried the smoked sausage, also very good. The sides I tried were ok. The beet salad was a little too earthy for my taste. Cole slaw was fresh but a little on the plain side. Potato salad good, like homemade, but again fell a little flat for my liking. Huge portions! So be prepared. Meets are sold by the pound or half pound. The single serving size of the sides can easily feed 2. Staff was fabulous- friendly & helpful. I'm glad I checked them out but not sure I'll rush back the next time I'm visiting.

I highly recommend getting a full spread to try all their offerings but whatever you do, DON'T SKIP THE PEACH TEA GLAZED PORK BELLY! FAST FACTS: * Parking - located in a strip shopping center with a decent size lot in front * Online ordering - you can pre-order and schedule a pick up order (must be at least 3 days in advance) * Open Wednesday - Sunday from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm (or sold out) * Water available while waiting in line * Order meats first and then sides and desserts * Sauces are self-serve by the to-go containers to pack up leftovers We arrived at 8:15 am (almost 3 hours before opening) on a Sunday morning and were first in line (the next group arrived around 8:30 am). By the time they opened at 11:00 am, there were probably 50 people in line. SERVICE - Always impressed by Interstellar's hospitality! They make conversation with you while taking your order and preparing the food. There's also a worker floating around helping with clearing trays, getting leftover containers, etc. I spoke with Warren while waiting in line and told him about how much I love the pork belly... within minutes, he brought a piece for each of us to sample while waiting. Then, I mentioned that it was my dad's birthday when ordering my meats and the slicers threw in an extra pork rib which was above and beyond! PRICING - The total was $321.10 after tax ($24.48) but before tip for the following: * 2.01 lb brisket ($84.42) * 1.59 lb peach tea glazed pork belly ($57.24) * 0.92 lb pork ribs ($33.12) * 0.52 lb pulled lamb shoulder ($18.72) * 0.51 lb (1 link) beef Kielbasa sausage ($15.30) * 0.46 lb (1 link) Polish sausage ($13.80) * 0.54 lb (1 link) lamb merguez sausage ($20.52) * 1 qt of poblano creamed corn ($19) * 1 qt of four cheese mac ($19) * 1 pt of smoked scallop potatoes ($10) * 1 single of tomato zucchini salad ($5.50) House made pickles, pickled onions, sliced white bread, and sauce are complimentary. The pricing is slightly higher than other barbecue places in Texas but that's the "Michelin Star" tax at work! BRISKET (10/10) - This is some of my favorite brisket in Texas (along with Franklin's and Goldee's)... it's incredibly juicy, it's seasoned well with salt and pepper, the bark is flavorful without being overpowering, and the smoke ring is visible. You can request lean, fatty, and/or burnt ends. PEACH TEA GLAZED PORK BELLY (11/10) - I think this is the only food item I've ever given a 11/10 to but it's THAT GOOD! There is just nothing like this anywhere else... it's a unique offering and really sets Interstellar apart. You get cubes of super tender pork belly coated in a sweet peach tea glaze... it literally melts in your mouth and is like candy. PORK RIBS (8/10) - They're tender but don't completely fall off the bone which is exactly what I like. They're seasoned well but don't stand out as much as some of the other proteins. PULLED LAMB SHOULDER (8/10) - Very tender and juicy but it just isn't as flavorful as some other pulled lamb that I've had at other barbecue places (KG BBQ has my favorite). SAUSAGES (9/10) - All 3 were phenomenal! The casings have a nice snap to them, the texture of the meat inside is ideal, and they are packed with flavor. It's all about personal preference in terms of which is best but I think the beef Kielbasa is a good one to try! POBLANO CREAMED CORN (9/10) - This was a newer side that I was excited to try and it's fantastic! I love the poblano flavor and the texture of the creamed corn was fantastic. It's garnished with green onions. FOUR CHEESE MAC (10/10) - I was sad when they got rid of the gouda mac because I LOVED it but I have to say... this new mac is somehow even better! The creaminess is next level! It's garnished with crispy brown butter cracker crumble (with extra on the side to add later) and green onions. SMOKED SCALLOP POTATOES (9/10) - I've always loved this side but they have somehow improved it recently... the potatoes seem slightly thinner which helps them hold on to even more flavor. TOMATO ZUCCHINI SALAD (9/10) - Refreshing side to add some veggies... simple but delicious! PICKLES, PICKLED ONIONS, BREAD & SAUCE (8/10) - The pickles & pickled onions are some of my favorite around. The bread is just a basic sliced white bread (skip it). There is a Texas red sauce and a mustard sauce... try them both! I'm just now writing a review after visiting close to 10 times but I'm happy to report that Interstellar is still worth the hype, even after gaining popularity from earning a Michelin Star. They have unique menu offerings (like the peach tea glazed pork belly), top-notch service, and keep innovating their menu by improving their classics and offering specials. I will recommend Interstellar to EVERYONE and can confirm it is worth any travel and wait!

Rudy's BBQ should be the baseline, yet Lazy G doesn't even reach that. I ordered the ribs and brisket, hoping for something decent, but both were far below average. The brisket was especially disappointing--you could see the congealed fat right in the slices (see pictures). Serving meat at the right temperature is BBQ 101, and their failure here made the texture and flavor a cold, greasy mess. The sides weren't any better. The cucumber salad was bland, with just a dusting of dill and no seasoning whatsoever. Adding salt and vinegar should be a no-brainer, but apparently, even the basics were too much effort here. I was excited to try the smoked mushroom side (as a mushroom lover), but it was downright unpleasant. There was zero smokiness, and the sauce tasted like a watered-down BBQ sauce, giving the button mushrooms a soggy, unappetizing texture. The BBQ sauce was another letdown--it tasted like bottled Sweet Baby Ray's. For a BBQ place, using (or at least mimicking) store-bought sauce is the ultimate red flag that they just don't care. Even at $22 for a two-meat plate, the quality doesn't justify the price. In short, Lazy G BBQ Company doesn't just fall short--it doesn't even try. If their goal was to live up to their name, they succeeded; this food is lazy, uninspired, and, frankly, not worth your time or money.

The next morning he said, "I kept telling myself I need to leave a little bit more for Lee Lee but I kept opening it back up and eating more until it was all gone!" Good thing I had my bites right when we arrived at our hotel because I was so hungry. My husband ordered sliced brisket and we lucked out and got a few of the brisket burnt ends. They weren't all "candified" like a lot of the other bbq places serve; but they were smoky and delicious. I also enjoyed the potato salad. We were excited to order the smoked mushrooms but honestly, they could have used a bit more flavor for me. You could just tap the salt shaker and it would have been fine. I appreciated the creative side dish and love how the bbq scene has doubled down on the side hustle! It was cold out so we sat on the enclosed patio that had heaters and were very comfortable. Today, I finally got an opportunity to taste this highly rated BBQ. People...the hype is real!!! We purchased a turkey leg, sausage, brisket (what they're known for) and chicken. We also got two sides of potato salad and dirty rice. I am not a big fan of brisket. However, the owner allowed me to have a sample of the brisket. I fell quickly, madly in love with the brisket. The brisket is so flavorful, tender and moist. So, so good!!! Next, I tried the turkey leg. The meat literally fell off the bone. Yummy to the Nth degree!!! Now, let me talk about this sausage...I have never eaten sausage this good. The sausage was (yes was...we ate it all!) dense, yet moist and super tasty. This sausage did not have a spec of grease. I think I ate most of the sausage. The chicken was also super moist and tender...made you want to slap yourself. The sides were good, however, the standouts without a doubt were the meats. The owner/chef was very personable, and highlighted the preparations associated with his menu items. He created a welcoming and chill environment... We noticed a coffee bar in the back it also has a butcher shop next door with a glass wall between the shop so you can observe the processing of the meats. All marinated items are prepackaged and the ingredients are readily available in a bound laminated book This was SO helpful when looking for gluten free options. We decided on jerk marinated chicken and a steak. In addition I found the much coveted Dubai chocolate bar and had to give it a try. YUM! The jerk chicken was definitely spicy but perfectly balanced with flavor. The steak was of great quality. Definitely a must come back spot! Oh, and the service was wonderful. An interesting Halal spot close to home!!

I didn't intend to buy anything, but it looked so good that I ended up buying two packages of marinated chicken. I grilled the package of chipotle chicken and it was delicious. There was so much meat. You could tell it was expertly carved out by a butcher. They have so many different options. I will definitely coming back to try the other marinades.

This is the original location, out of now 19, in a sliver-wide store near an HEB. The "heritage" of the place is reflected in its somewhat funky interior, and you have to walk all the way back along a narrow aisle to near the storeroom to start your order. But the regulars all know that. It is a comfortably decent, middle-of-the-road Texas BBQ joint that is very consistent in quality, our go-to place. I wish their sides and desserts were a little more stand-out, like Cooper's or Poke Jo's or Terry Black's. The only thing that's better than average is their creamed corn. Recently, they changed their buttered potatoes to add bacon and cheese, which helps a little. On the BBQ side, they've added pork belly burnt ends, which are among my favorite. The service is friendly, and they keep the orders moving. They do a lot of take-out business, given that there are only about six tables inside. Their sauce is what we now think of as the standard, not as peppery as, say, Rudy's and not as sweet as the Salt Lick. We have a bottle at home.
