They sell solid brisket here and brisket happens to be the only thing I really care about at a BBQ. So if you serve me good brisket, you've won me over. The fatty brisket was quite good. Unimpressed with the ribs (a bit dry), the beans (could use more seasoning and salt), and their honey sauce (maybe others like it but it wasn't for me). Pleased with the coleslaw, cherry cobbler, and like I already said, the brisket. They have a drive-through which is convenient. I noticed this business is advertising heavily. I also noticed their advertised website is down. It's very easy nowadays to build a website (and domains are relatively inexpensive) so I hope they can fix that. Long story short -- is it a popular BBQ joint you'd wait in a long line for? No and thank heavens. UPDATE -- still love this place but something has changed I believe. I think the pit boss/manager is handing over the reigns. The quality of the que is still there, but the rub on the ribs is different..It tastes saltier (maybe garlic salt). I'm not saying you won't like it! Ordered from The Pit while running a tournament in Georgetown and my staff enjoyed it. It wouldn't be my top choice for bbq, but it was good. The turkey was moist and flavorful. The sauce was tasty but very soupy. Only impacted how you could use/apply it and increased dripping on my clothes. Maybe just use a napkin, I guess. They liked the brisket. We usually order from a spot in RR that everyone preferred slightly, but this Gtown staple is a great option up north. read more

Open til 8pm on Friday night. $34 gets you a rib dinner ($16), large beef brisket sandwich ($9), and 1/4 pound of moist brisket. The food is just alright. We were in the area and looking for a bbq place for lunch. We found this great place that was close by. The choices are amazing and it smelled so yummy as we walked in. All the employees were busy working yet they greeted us while we were waiting for our order to be filled. This is the first time we ate at a bbq restaurant that offered 3 sides with our two meat plate. The lean brisket had great flavor, the turkey slices were tender and tasty. I enjoyed the potato salad, corn & green beans. Nice area to eat and I enjoyed that the food was served on plates not a tray or paper plate. However the last few times I've been here it has been terrible. This most recent time I stopped in at about 430pm. My brisket was horrible dry and tough. I won't be coming back. $20 wasted. Kind people with passable bbq. It's not high end, wake up early and wait in line for hours kind of bbq. But it's a good friendly neighborhood bbq joint that you can rely on to offer you your bbq fix in a pinch. I can't give it 5 stars, because the bbq could certainly be improved. First time trying The Pit. We walked in and the smell of BBQ hits you hard! Delightful. We ordered the brisket sandwich and the 2 meat plate (brisket/Ribs) Sides were beans, Mac n cheese, and potato salad. The food was so tasty and flavorful. The brisket had that Smokey flavor which was nice. The ribs were really good and juicy (fell off the bone) The Mac n cheese had the perfect consistency and flavor was great. The potato salad was ok not bad. The beans weren't my favorite. For our drink we got sweet tea and it was perfect! The service was good and we will definitely be back. I came here today with Thing One for a bit of lunch. I ordered two items to include the brisket sandwich and the sausage sandwich. I ordered through the drive through as the location is not allowing customers into the establishment for dine in or purchase. I was really expecting a bit of flavor in this sandwiches. The place has good brisket, friendly service. The sausage is excellent (being from Myers). The ribs are St. Louis style and I 0refer baby backs but the flavor is good. The place is unassuming but will surprise you. read more

First visit. Drive thru only. Not sure when they are open unless there is a car in the drive thru line. Awkward to get in the drive thru line which can be contentious since there is only room for a couple vehicles. Otherwise you risk getting hit waiting on busy Williams Drive. Ordered brisket, ribs and chicken. No sauce on anything when cooked or afterwards. Served sauce on the side., Ribs are huge - very fatty and tough. Not edible for me. Chicken was a bit dry. Used in soup the next day. Brisket was alright - not great but was the best meat of what we ordered. Wrapped in tin foil for that gourmet touch --- Potato salad had smashed potatoes and a pickle relish taste - not a fan. Cole slaw - creamy version - was the same stuff you get anywhere. Served in styrofoam cups. Shocked - and I mean really shocked at the price - OMG! Well over $100 - what???? We ate most of the brisket tonight! 5 adults, 5 little kids (11-4) and everyone enjoyed the meat. Tender, moist: just superior meat! Took a big piece to a neighbor and they already called to say how good it was! I made sure to say I did NOT smoke it but The Pit BBQ did. We've enjoyed food from The Pit for a number of years. The brisket is always flavorful; the moist brisket is wonderfully easy to cut and doesn't have a bunch of fat or grisel in it. We were wandering around Georgetown hungry and had decided we wanted dessert for lunch. Went to three different places and struck out. We are a long time fans of the pit barbecue. The hubster's parents lived in Georgetown when they were alive and we often would grab barbecue and the four of us have a picnic in the yard. Sadly, they are still closed inside and it looks like they've had quite the struggle over this past year plus -with Covid. But the drive-through was open and in the window there was a young lady and a trainee... and our order was taken pronto. The hubster had a one meat plate and chose the moist brisket for his entrée and I ordered a baked potato with Chopped beef, the kind they put on the sandwiches. We also ordered an unsweet tea and a home made Brownie w/walnuts, per the sign in the window. I had to order their tea because it's always so fresh- the old-fashioned kind that is brewed. The plate had a nice portion of the moist brisket and a double portion of potato salad per the hubster's request. Everything was quite tasty. My baked potato with chopped beef was also good-I always did like the flavor and true to form it stood the test of time. The homemade brownie with walnuts -it was very good and for whatever reason half had walnuts and half didn't which was perfect for us. Thick and chewy. Hope they keep it on the menu. Oh and I guess I should mention that both meals came with bread and pickles and onions and little containers of barbecue sauce. The service through the drive-in window was great and the order was spot on. It was closer to dinner than lunch so saved me from cooking that evening. Hooray! Brisket wasn't very good Turkey was exceptional The staff was very friendly And efficient. Dining room was clean and I was Seated Witt food in mere Minutes. The price is what caught me off guard... 1.5 Stars - 'Could've been better' like WAY better. 30/70 good vs bad and bad is consistently winning. The few times it's been good the san was quite good, particularly the meat. When it's been bad it's really bad. One time I bit in and it was a literal glob of gushing fat. No meat. I was driving and was almost sick it was that disgusting. And to make things even worse I ordered lean. It was so revolting I turned around and drove back to show them. They did nothing and didn't care. Not even an apology. Globs of fat on a bun for 10-11 bucks. Horrible horrible customer service. They even had the nerve to balk back when shown their gross globs of fat, which was at least 1/2 the sando. Then there's been times where there is literally half the meat - obscene robbery considering the price. And the buns are frequently so dry the outer top part is flaking off it's so dry. Blech Blech Blech!!! Not even consistency in the amount of meat. You get what they give you, and you should be darn well grateful in their opinion. Unless you're a real like Shrek and like gross stuff to eat, I'd take a hard pass on this place. read more

I really used to like eating here but for some reason it's still drive-through only and it's 9-4-22 when everyone else have actually opened their doors to sit down dining. I'm sure they will say "staffing issues" but who's buying that with most restaurants being fully open now. Wanting to try someplace new since we can't seem to find a bbq place we love. So disappointed! Yes, the reviews were average; however, most of the time we don't trust the reviews. Cracker Barrel gets 4-5 stars and their food tastes like bland elementary school Sysco cafeteria food from the 80s. Let me also caveat that we do our own bbq on a smoker and homemade sauce when we have the time; but, it's just a few days past Turkey Day and I just didn't want to cook. Picked up the 5 small chopped beef for $9.99. What a deal! Unfortunately, the dog will enjoy it more than we did. The meat was mushy, like it was over processed in a food processor. Very little flavor. Maybe liquid smoke? Added some sauce and it made it worse. The sauce was super thin and tasted awful. My son actually said it made it taste like dog food! Since it was a new place I also picked up some ribs and sausage. Ribs were average and almost too salty. Wondering where the peppery or spicy rub flavor is... Plain sausage was average too. Jalapeno sausage was overcooked, dry, and tasted off. Just picked up a small serving of potato salad for the hubby. I don't eat anything with mayo, but he reported that it was not good either. BBQ is not real good. The Banana pudding & peach cobbler are pretty good though. Too expensive for what you get. If there are issues, the owner is not a really nice guy & will just put it on the customers. I'd go to Black's BBQ or even Moe's BBQ. read more
