I was in the area and stopped in here because it had good reviews here and I'd never been. Small place, a few tables inside and more out back. I selected pork loin and brisket with sides of Hatch chile mac and cheese ( not spicy) plus a side of green beans with garlic. Didn't notice immediately, but you get jacked up an extra three dollars if you order brisket. Considering that my portion was fairly microscopic, I'd say skip the brisket. Pork loin was good and the sides were tasty and generous. Would I return? Probably not. The brisket burger I received was raw on the inside. The cook obviously must not have been trained well. The bun was very cheap and I was up charged $2.00 for choosing a different side than fries or chips without being told I would be charged for choosing it. Wouldn't go back there again. We have been wanting to try this place since the reviews were so good, I realize we all have different taste but this was not our experience. Walked in both men don't say anything, we said hello first to get some sort of response. They were out of chicken, we got a turkey sandwich instead. Turkey was cold, the green beans were way too sweet and just odd. Ordered a sliced brisket sandwich it was decent but the coleslaw just again had an odd taste. Got chicken nuggets and fries, just your standard nuggets but the fries were actually pretty good. The inside is fine, music is very low and we did not go look at the back yard area. They do have some beer and wine. Just FYI for ranch lovers they did not have any ranch whatsoever. A nice BBQ place just outside the old downtown area of Liberty Hill. I must say upfront this is a somewhat limited review, as this was our first time there. We tried several of the meats and a couple of the sides. Way more stuff on the menu. We bought pounds of brisket (mixed), both sausages, and the STL-style pork ribs. The brisket was great, totally on point! The ribs were smoked perfectly, but perhaps a bit too seasoned for our taste. We thought the sausage was just OK. For sides we tried the pinto beans and coleslaw, both were excellent! Plenty of fixings available on the side... onions, jalapeños and pickles. We tried both of the BBQ sauces, big bottle and "ketchup bottle"... both were good, we couldn't tell the difference if there was one! LOL We shared a bottle of Prosecco, which actually paired well with the BBQ! Service was good, not great. Lots of younger folks, we were obviously first-timers and we had to ask for common sense things, e.g., extra trays to use as plates, utensils, no one explained "the process", ... Good first visit, cool place, lots of outside area. We appreciated the Christian name of the place and the Bible quote above the door! Mark of good bbq is how good is it when you reheat it. Juicy, moist high quality bbq the second and third time around - made for great tacos, sandwiches, leftovers, etc. Had their moist brisket, sausage, and ribs and it was all great. Tender ribs, flavorful sausage, and the brisket was the highlight. The sides were good but harder to judge bc everything was reheated and sides don't last as well imho. The bark on their brisket is full flavored and tasty! The moist brisket was delicious! Next, let's talk about the chicken...best smoked chicken I have ever had! Nice Smokey flavor accentuated by the pickle brine they use. There were *no* leftovers of the chicken! The pulled pork had a nice, spicy flavor under the smokey flavor. My daughter and her boyfriend came in from Houston to celebrate a n Fathers' Day (6/10/23) with me. We have never been to Agape BBQ in Liberty Hill. It's not on a main road that I use so I had never seen it. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They also advertise live music. The brisket was top line and exactly what I expect when people say 'REAL Texas BBQ'. Deep smoke ring, great flavor, not OVER salted, and not greasy. This was in my top 5 of brisket I've eaten in over 60 years. They have a couple of different barbecue sauces that are good but not really needed. The brisket speaks for itself. The sausage had a good flavor but was not spicy. The Hatch chili mac & cheese and traditional corn casserole were perfect accompaniments to the BBQ. I had a wonderful time with my family. This was one of the best meals that I had in Texas. The portions were large, the smoked meat and ribs were juicy, succulent and had the lightest of sauce, with extra sauce provided to use as desired. The service was very good. The outdoor area was beautiful, though it was much too cold for us to utilize it. I will be back when it's warm enough to appreciate the outdoors. It looks very inviting. Tried Agape BBQ for the first time last Friday for lunch--great food and great people in a cool location! I'll definitely be going back and highly recommend checking it out. I had the two-meat plate, which comes with two sides. The brisket was excellent--super tender, well-seasoned, and had just the right amount of smoke. The turkey was also great, which isn't always the case at BBQ joints. The Cowboy pinto beans are a must-try--packed with flavor and chunks of meat. I could eat a whole pot of those! The slaw, which is a must-have BBQ side for me, was also really solid. Agape also frequently hosts live music in their spacious backyard, which adds to the laid-back vibe. Liberty Hill overall seemed like a place worth visiting more often, with various spots to check out before or after a meal at Agape BBQ. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

Maybe we're weird, but barbecue places for us are judged as much on their sides as they meats. Unfortunately, we haven't found that agape has the sides. The meat is good and the staff very pleasant we've never eaten there so can't comment on the atmosphere. So if meat, meat, meat is your thing this is probably a good option for you. read more

We enjoy getting Agape when guests visit. Sometimes we dine in, but will order pick-up if we have a big group. Everything is always delicious! We've been enjoying Agape since they opened in LH! What do you mean you love bbq but haven't been to Agape? Get on it! Located about a half mile from historic downtown Liberty Hill, it's a quiet spot with serious food. My go to is the moist brisket and ribs, although their sausage and turkey and chicken are all fantastic. Their mac & cheese is extremely rich, and you can get a scoop of chopped on top of it if you really want to have your mind blown. Great rotating craft beer list as well. And sometimes they have a special spicy sauce in the back, just ask, it is not on the menu. An absolute treasure, go check it out. read more

Nothing special. Average brisket, sausage. Meats were not hot. Condiment station was pretty empty for a Saturday afternoon. Had to scrounge in the little room temperature containers for pickles and jalapeños. Didn't have any fresh onions out. There were 5 of us. Even though I ordered juicy brisket, the slice we were given was dried out and tough. The sausage was a little dried out as well. The slaw was very watery and tasteless. The ribs were very good, cooked great and flavorful. The Mac n cheese was just ok. Not sure if this was an off day, but the employees were not very inviting. This is a great spot when you're hungry for quality bbq. We've been here at least five or six times and the food is consistently delish! Order at the counter, by meat by weight (e.g. "half pound of brisket and one sausage") as well as sides (Mac and cheese, green beans (so yummy), potato salad, pinto beans). Drinks include ~6 beers on tap, wine, soda, tea and lemonade. Family style plating on trays, condiments are self serve. They also have some desserts. There are tables and chairs inside as well as an expansive back porch with tables and chairs for days. There is a play area for kids, and shady trees. First off, the service was great. They have a young staff, but they are so personable and explained the menu and even gave recommendations. They had a band starting up outside, so the ambiance was nice. Large area to run around and hang out in. However the food was just not something I could ever return for. We got combo brisket with ribs, chili lime corn salad, Mac n cheese, corn casserole, and green beans. For desert we had banana pudding and peanut butter pudding. The dry brisket was like jerky. It was so tough you could hardly chew it. The wet brisket was much more tolerable and I didn't mind it, although the portion of the brisket was so small it's was gone in one fork full. The rib portion for a 2 meat plate was two separated ribs with a tiny amount of meat on them. They had one BBQ sauce that was just mediocre, I think there was too much cumin in it or something, I wasn't crazy about it. The Mac n cheese has hatch chilis added to it, which was actually a nice addition. However the Mac n cheese itself was watered down, felt more like buttered noodles with a splash of cheese. It wasn't creamy or cheesy at all. The noodles were overcooked. The green beans my husband couldn't even eat. The corn salad had an overwhelming vinegar taste to it and I couldn't even taste the chili season or lime at all. The corn casserole was probably the best side if I had to pick one. The banana pudding was clearly boxed banana pudding with cool whip and one cookie on top and a small amount at the very bottom. This is not homemade and it tasted very much like boxed stuff. No bananas mixed in and no cookies mixed in, the custard is a box mix. I heard them say the peanut butter desert was boxed mixed also. The vibe is nice but the food just didn't cut it. read more

Got for takeout-- Their brisket is MOIST. Great texture and flavors, and yummy bbq sauce! I made some bbq sandwiches, which were delish. It was definitely the highlight of the show. Their ribs and sausages were also good, though I couldn't get my mind off the brisket. Personally, there was too little bbq sauce for me. If you're in Liberty Hill, we need to support this place. Very good atmosphere, clean inside, great service. The BBQ is above average for a small place. I had the triple threat (three meats and three sides). Brisket was the right consistency with smoke and a great bark. Ribs were falling off the bone and juicy. Sausage (pepperjack) was as good as anywhere. Potato salad was great, hatch Mac and cheese was my favorite side. Chili lime corn was ok, just maybe not my cup of tea. If you're in town I would definitely get out to this place. Prices were competitive for the BBQ world and we got enough for leftovers for under $100. Four of us shared and we had enough for a second meal for everyone. Please give it a try! read more

TLDR: This is oneof the area's hidden BBQ treasures. Come check it out before everyone else does and they run out of brisket! Agape BBQ is the fusion of two things that don't exist anymore: Archer BBQ, which operated out of a truck on New Hope Drive, and Agape Java, which used to operate out of the same space. Why is this important? Because most BBQ places go for a look somewhere between 'rustic' and 'the place is about to fall down around your ears'. Not here in Liberty Hill! Here, you get the unique experience of having your BBQ in a coffee house environment. And...it's actually kinda nice. The coffee's good, too. As for the meat side of things...if you look at the reviews in my profile, I eat waaaaay too much BBQ but love it all the same. And I have to give a solid thumbs-up for the BBQ at Agape. Stopped by to try their lean brisket, fatty brisket, sausage, and spare ribs. Sides included the BBQ beans and the Hatch Green Chile mac n' cheese. In order from bottom to top in my ratings: BBQ beans: Delish, but on the watery side. (4 stars) Lean Brisket: Nice salt n' pepper punch (4.5 stars) Sausage: Tasty, smoky, perfect snap from the casing. (5 stars) Moist Brisket: Perfectly moist, tender, bit on the salty side but I like that (5 stars) Hatch Green Chile mac n' cheese: Good lord, this is the best side dish I've come across in Texas BBQ, great creamy cheese mix without being 'gloppy' and enough green chile to make New Mexico jealous. (5 stars but only because I can't give it 6) Spare Ribs: All-out excellent, with the right little bit of 'tug' as you pull it from the bone. (5 stars but only because I can't give it 6) Average it out, and I'm calling it at a 5-star performance. Agape was welcoming not only in ambiance but the service as well. We ordered the brisket, pork ribs, Mac and cheese, beans and corn casserole. The corn casserole was the best side they had...it's actually almost like a corn bread roll. As for the other sides the Mac and cheese can use some more cheese and less pepper. I think because it was coarse pepper it overwhelmed the Mac and cheese. The beans were average nothing extraordinary. The winners were the meats! If I have to rate just that it would be four stars...but I think BBq needs key sides. I am a pickled onion fan with my brisket but because it was not refrigerated it threw off the flavor for me. The BBQ sauce is okay but combined with the brisket good. All in all this is a good spot especially if you don't want to make the trip in town for BBQ. For the liberty hill and surrounding areas it is good. They have a large outdoor area which I think is a win! A great spot to enjoy for briskest with family and the outdoors. read more

The team at Agape BBQ does a great job with their ribs. I love the taste, the amount of rub is not overwhelming, even the size of the granules is perfect. No crunchy pieces of black pepper or kosher salt. You can see the smoke line on their ribs and the flavor is amazing. They also have an excellent selection of sides. I love their beans and Mac and Cheese. Apparently they have an amazing "Pulled Pork" sandwich, each time I try to sample one, their sold out. Nice patio area out back and always a friendly staff.
