Ordered two burgers (regular and mushroom Swiss) and sweet tea. Had to order at the bar as there were no "servers" to take the order, and paid up front. Our food came and the burgers looked so small for being $16.50. Dug in and was quite surprised the burger was absolutely flavorless. Put ketchup, mustard and salt and it didn't help. The fries were okay but typical. The sweet tea was far too sweet, no matter how much it was stirred. We won't be back. It was overpriced for what we got in return. read more

Best burger I've had in a while! Would highly recommend adding a fried egg and some jalapeños! Fries are basic but for a bar they get the job done. Would come back again. Ambiance is electric on a Friday night, groups all around and tvs up with games and shows. Service was decent, but bring your patience because it does get busy. We got takeout from this restaurant today. The order was ready 15 minutes after I ordered it here on Yelp. I got a customized grilled turkey and my husband got a pastrami. I got some kettle chips and my husband got coleslaw. The food was absolutely amazing. The sandwiches were grilled in olive oil and we're so tasty. The inside of the restaurant was very Comfortable and inviting. I look forward to going back and eating in person. My friend and I ended up here because it was one of the few places on the Square that wasn't closed or closing up. I hadn't eaten so after a couple of beers I looked at their food menu. I started with the Chips and Queso which I found to be watery and underflavored. I was still hungry so I ended up getting their Georgetown Melt because the protein was brisket. Much like their queso it was served in a styrofoam to-go container, which is a underwhelming. Their beers were also served in plasticware which is also offputting; both times it made me feel like I should just go but specifically for the beer it makes the experience less enjoyable. This is a pretty awesome place on the square! My husband brought me in and I have visited again since! Last time we got the Hazed and Confused and the Paloma. The Hazed and confused was different, my husband liked it but I couldn't stand it! The Paloma was tasty though! We got chips and the Georgetown Melt. It came with a side of sweet bbq sauce which I enjoyed. My husband got the Frito Pie and said it was delicious! The service was pretty decent, we got our food in a timely manner and our drinks came fast! The ambiance is interesting because they have animal heads on the walls. I love animals and I felt bad eating meat with them looking at me lol I will be back again and again because I like the place and think it is neat! Grabbed a quick drink here right before dinner at our next reservation! Seating at the bar was surprisingly accessible on a Friday night even though it was busy. Our time was limited here but enjoyable. The bartenders quickly greeted us and rang up our order, they were very nice. I came here to watch the Texas game with some friends. We had some drinks and I ordered a pastrami sandwich because I had been thinking of the sandwich at Little Deli's Pizzeria. I will say that this place is good for drinks but it is not good for pastrami sandwiches. The bartenders at the bar and the ones that brought out the food were kind and courteous even though there was a big crowd of many different football fans on a busy Saturday. I wouldn't recommend this place for a Texas fan to go watch the game. There was a sizeable crowd of Texas fans gathered to watch the game. However, they relegated the Texas games to the smallest screens on the opposite corner. They had other conference games playing on the big screen (not even SEC) which didn't make a lot of sense since there wasn't any apparent big section of fans for those teams. They weren't even Texas teams. It made me wonder if the owners or whoever was in charge had a personal grudge against Texas, which isn't great for business if you have many patrons visiting your establishment to pass the time with friends and watch the game. If you're meeting up with friends to have a drink then this place is fine. The workers are friendly and they do have drinks. If you want to watch games for teams that aren't in Texas, then this might be the place for you. read more

The servers do not appear to have sections and just bounce all over the restaurant. Organization is non-existent. Our server was spotted twice the whole visit, once to take our order and once when we had to track her down to get our bill. Why did a singular draft beer take 15 minutes? Then our apps were dropped at the table next to us and the order was never replaced for us. Next, the "BLT" had barbecue sauce instead of the sun-dried tomato whatever that was on the menu. Couldn't find the server to send it back. No check-ins once the food was delivered and no, our apps never showed up. This place needs to decide what they want to be. A meat market? A sports bar? A sandwich shop? Family friendly or a way-too-loud bar? Go back to counter service if you aren't going to staff and organize enough servers. Not a single member of management in sight. This is the coolest spot on the Georgetown square! Truly feels like Texas. I love all the game on the walls, the turf flooring, picnic tables. It's really a fun spot! We heard lots of hype about this place and it honestly under delivered. We were expecting barbecue based on the name. When we asked for sliced brisket the bartender pointed to a list of about 8 sandwiches on the menu and said that's basically all they have. She said we could order a sandwich with brisket on it and they could give us just the brisket for the price of the sandwich. We decided to just get a couple sandwiches. They were pretty good. It just wasn't what we expected. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who likes to drink beer and watch a game. Second time my husband and I went to Tejas. The first time was a good experience with service and the pulled pork sandwich was tasty--it was lunch time in the middle of the week so hardly any customers. However, this past Saturday evening was not a positive experience. There appeared to be only two people taking orders while several staff behind the counter were just standing around socializing or texting on their phones and the place was packed. It took about almost 10 minutes before a waiter came to our table. We ordered beer, chips salsa n queso and two sandwiches. Our waiter was very nice and appeared to be the only staff working his butt off. Not sure why the kitchen staff was slow but after waiting over 20 minutes for our chips n salsa/queso, I asked the waiter what was the hold up. He said the cooks prepare a customer's entire order on a first come first serve basis. I told him I understand with regard to our sandwiches but when you order an appetizer and as basic as chips and salsa/queso that should be served before the entree. The chips were too hard and stale and the Cuban sandwich was just okay. To the manager and owner-please do better for your customers if you wish to continue to stay in business. You have had some bad reviews the past several years with the same complaints-very slow food service and rude staff. Fortunately our waiter was very nice but the rest of the staff looked like they couldn't care less about the customers. As a former manager-train your staff to provide the type of service they would want when they eat at a restaurant with family and friends. If they don't like customer service then they have no business working in the restaurant industry! Today I came here with Thing One. When we walked into the establishment, it way fairly empty. The wonderful smell of smoked meat hits you as you walk in. Based upon the smell alone, I just knew we were in a for a real treat. But, unfortunately, this was not the case. Cheese Sandwich- I ordered the cheese sandwich. The sandwich came on sourdough bread. Unfortunately, the sandwich was dry and the cheese was lackluster. As evidenced by the photo of both sides of the sandwich together, there wasn't much to it. Club- Thing One ordered the club. This sandwich seemed to have more girth and definitely more flavor. However, this sandwich much like its cheese counterpart was underwhelming. I do understand this is supposed to be a meat focused establishment and I elected not to ordered a meat dish. However, if I come to this establishment again, I may try something that is more aligned with the establishment's namesake. read more

TLDR: Great 'games pub' type sandwich place with a promising future. Tejas is located right on the northeast corner of Georgetown's square, with easy parking options next to or in the lot behind the establishment. It's a surprisingly large place, what I call a 'games pub' - there's lots of TVs to watch sports, a games area, open bar, tall and regular seating. The 'meat supply' section is relatively limited, but they do sell a marvelous aged steak when their butcher is in. (I was told they show up at 2pm.) Sandwiches were very good. The pastrami on the Reuben could use more zip, but the pretzel bun is excellent and they don't sog the sandwich up with too much sauerkraut. Their version of a Cuban on the other hand is one of the best interpretations I've ever had, with ham and a smoky pulled pork addition that is excellent! Definitely worth your time to visit, especially in later 2021 when they add a fuller menu into the mix. This place scores a 4 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. We wanted to try this place. Staff were friendly enough at first but didn't tell us they were short staffed until after we paid for our order. After 40 minutes of waiting we asked and the staff were unapologetic about the wait. It took 45 minutes to get our appetizer. And another 10 minutes to get our food. The burgers were overcooked, almost charred to dust. The smoked turkey sandwich smelled like rotten meat and was not eaten. Modern, bright, super clean & friendly! Great decor & music playing. I took my waiters advice and tried the Tejas Dip. Really tasty! The brisket was crispy around the edges, and the au jus was just right. It came with a choice of chips & a pickle. They also have a meat counter, and I picked up a pork toast while I was there. Came here for lunch around 1PM... place was empty. The place even looked closed from outside( they need to fix that) I was greeted warmly and after searching the walls for a menu, was given one by the nice guy behind the bar. He advised me they were out of a few menu items. I chose the "Cuban" and the Macanaugh-Haze beer on tap. First the beer was outstanding, very nice hazy IPA. The sandwich came with a bag of chips and a pickle spear. The cuban was LOADED with delicious pulled pork. The cheese and pickles made this a " Texas Cubano" don't listen to the food purists because this is a very good sandwich... mustard is not needed.. it was a great lunch.. my kid had the Melt and said it was fantastic! We will definitely be back. I might even try the cuts of meats and exotic meats that are in the butcher section Only negatives is that the place looks like it is closed from the outside. Bar service is prompt and friendly and ordering was a breeze BUT unfortunately the kitchen staff is not very coordinated and they take forever to deliver a simple hotdog and sandwich. It took over 30 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to service a table of two. They finally got us our food after I asked to cancel our order. We went here for lunch on a Saturday while wandering around Georgetown. It is really more of a butcher shop, but they make sandwiches, there are tables along the windows, there is a bar in the center with seating, and there is a big open space with cornhole games (and all the kids making up their own games) in the middle. Beer selection is good, and the sandwiches are big. I usually only eat half a sandwich, so I opted for the kids' turket sandwich - and I STILL only ate half. Lots of meat! It is decorated with rustic / modern-farmhouse decor with an area for playing "lawn games" like corn hole. There is a bar area to order drinks and sandwiches as well as a butcher counter with various cuts of meat available for sale. A unique business concept for the area. We enjoyed grabbing a beer and ordering sandwiches. I tried the Texas dip ( a twist on a traditional French dip) which was tasty. I could tell that the quality of meat was top notch. I've been here a few times and almost always it's for a beer to go. They had a sign out saying they were now serving cocktails so instead of my usual beer to go I got there spicy Paloma. Long story short I ended up returning three times to get this drink. I saw it was a "cocktail of the month" but I highly suggest making it a permanent menu item!
