If you're looking for great wings and even better people, Duff's is the place. My son and I have really enjoyed coming here. The wings are absolutely amazing--John, the owner, brought a little piece of Buffalo, New York with him, and you can taste the difference. The food is legit, the atmosphere is welcoming, and you can tell there's real pride behind what they're doing. I also want to give a shout-out to Rodrigo, the bartender. He's incredibly kind, knows exactly what he's doing, and genuinely seems to appreciate his job and the people who walk through the door. That kind of service makes a difference. And Erica, the manager, deserves some recognition too. She is sweet, works her ass off, and you can tell she genuinely cares about the place and the people in it. My family and I went for my bday. We got a variety of items. I got 10wings, mild and mozzarella sticks. My dad and brothers got smash burgers. My mom got the French dip and my other brother got the Philly cheesesteak. We enjoyed the food! Only con was that the service was a little slow. Stop #2 in my completely unnecessary but thoroughly enjoyable wing comparison: Duff's. Duff's takes the more traditional approach, which is much more my style. No batter--just a properly fried wing with nice, crispy skin. The wings themselves were also a little bigger than what we had at Smashed & Sauced. The wings were very good, although they were a little on the dry side and I would have liked to see them tossed with more sauce. I'm firmly in the camp that a wing should require at least a couple of extra napkins. Where Duff's really stood out was the atmosphere and hospitality. The restaurant has only been open a few months, and it appeared the owners were right there working the front, helping guests and training a new employee. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, outgoing and eager to help. The décor was great too, and the whole place had a fun, welcoming feel. Overall, another solid four stars. Between the two places, Duff's gets my vote for the style of wing--bigger, unbattered and crispy--while Smashed & Sauced was more generous with the sauce and had some really interesting flavors. Had takeout for a relatives birthday who is from Buffalo. Was very excited to try these wings. Candidly, I didn't find them to be particularly special in any way. Wings were bigger and meatier than pluckers. Barbecue was my favorite. They were fine, perhaps I will try this place again and get different flavors. The french fries were cold and perhaps that dimmed my enjoyment, but reheating french fries never works well. Fried pickles were soggy, but tasted fine. Not sure this is a good place to get delivery from so may stop in at one of the locations next time. I had seen this place on Facebook and decided to give it a try based on how excited the post creator was. The staff was friendly and the food came out reasonably quick, but the quality was just okay. Let me add that this was a to go order, so I haven't eaten at the restaurant when the food comes out right to the table yet. I live about 23 minutes away and when I got home, the fries and fried pickles were really greasy. On the upside, the portions of fries I got was crazy big, but when they are all just greasy, it kind of doesn't matter how much you get. The fried pickles were also just ok. The flavor of the wings knocked my socks off (buffalo medium), but they were definitely not "jumbo wings" as mentioned on the menu. They were pretty much just regular small wings. I will give Duffs another try and eat there. If it is awesome, I will update this review. read more

Prob 3.5 stars. Only one other table of people when we arrived. We had to ask for silverware and the people working which there was about 7-8 host, servers and management. Garlic parm wings were great I would not order a salad there again It had the driest chicken I've ever had in it with no sauce. The waitress didn't ask if I wanted it tossed in sauce so o assumed it had it on there bc it's a buffalo chicken salad lol Also no blue cheese crumbles or any cheese at all. Duff's is new here in Austin. One of the original wing places that sprang up in Buffalo NY in the late 1960s, they have a duty to remain faithful to the original recipe. And that they do. This being my first visit, I had to go for 10 classic wings, lightly fried, both drums and flats, and I ordered the Medium heat Buffalo sauce which to me tasted perfect. The wings were crispy but moist inside, average size. It comes with a cup of blue cheese dressing and a reasonable portion of celery and carrots. I made the mistake of asking for a few extra veggies, and I was brought a whole extra platter of veggies (at extra charge). Service was good, and the owner stopped by our group of six more than once, even refilling my soda. The original Duff's started as a gin bar, and yes their bar drinks are a cut above with chi-chi specials. Inside, the place is standard wings place, nothing fancy, and honestly there would be no point in being fancy. The extra handwashing sinks in the restroom hall is a nice touch. I don't know why wings places don't just use rolls of paper towels at the table like BBQ places do. read more

My wife and I have been to Duff's in Buffalo several times (as we're from Buffalo) and this location lives up to the original. The wings are crispy and saucy, and the beer is ice cold. Also, I love they have the same fries as the Duff's back home. The beef on weck here was also on point. Pro-tip: The Buffalo flavors are GREAT, but the sweet cajun glazed wings might be the best flavor we've ever had. Our service from John was great.
