What's even better though is the friendly customer service and overall family friendly environment. The staff is friendly with each other, the customers, and generally very pleasant to interact with. So.., I do Favor as a side hustle to pay for an upcoming cruise for my beautiful, intelligent, God-fearing wife. I picked up an order from Phil's Icehouse. The burger had my Tahoe smelling absolutely delish! I had to try this place out. So, I go to Phil's and order the Phil-A-Buster and fries. Double meat, double cheese and all the fixins. The burger was juicy, well seasoned and has a very good flavor. The fries are mixed with regular fries and sweet potato fries. I really enjoyed that little mixture. I went to the Phil's Icehouse on Burnet Rd. The staff were very friendly and pleasant, the atmosphere was cool, laid back and friendly. We are grand child sitting for our son and daughter in law. With the grands at school, we wanted to find something good but close to their home. We picked Phil's Icehouse and are very happy we did. The burgers were huge and delicious! The service was excellent. We arrived just after noon on a Monday. There were a few other patrons inside and some outside enjoying the weather. The burgers were excellent!! We've visited this burger joint before and the ingredients are always fresh and tasty. The fries are excellent also, with just the right amount of flavoring. They offer fountain drinks, but with locally brewed flavors, not one of the big 2 options like most places. The prices are inline with the area as well. You may be able to catch a special but still expect to pay more than average fast food prices. There's plenty of seating and the staff was friendly. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

My wife did not know yet her wallet was missing when she received a call late from Austin at the Phil's Burgers on Burnet rd. He called to say he had her wallet and would be happy to bring it to our house ( 45 min away ) which we tried to discourage and that we would pick it up the next day. One of the best family friendly restaurants in town, Phil's has great burgers and sides, stapled on with an Amy's next door and a playground for the kids, this is the perfect weekend lunch hangout spot for families. Portions and prices are great too! I deviated from my usual order and got the 78750 instead of the 78704 and while it was a decent burger, missed the jalepeno kick. Generally I find the patties to be underseasoned at Phil's but the burger composition itself is great. Also tried to be "healthy" with the fried green beans and those were a hit with the table - far superior to fries, but comes with the upcharge. But worth it. After what seemed like an eternity of a day, I was parched and quite ravenous. Came into this place not knowing what to expect, saw the menu, and ordered the 78750 Burger with some fries. The burger was well constructed, bursting with flavor, and the house made sourdough bun has to be my favorite from any and all burger joints. The fries are actual fries, they look, feel, and taste it, which you don't get to see very often! The team was attentive, generous, and kind! I now live further away, so I end up using delivery for this (way more than I'd like to admit), and still, it has not deterred the food from tasting as great as when I dined, in-house. Then the register asks for a pretty steep tip... even though I order at the counter, pick up my own food at the counter, make my own drink and clean my table. I remembered it being fire and now I live right around the corner from one, so I decided to take a trip down memory lane. The food is not bad, it's a good burger. The sweet bun is yummy. The bacon was perfect. Patty tasted kinda under seasoned, but I'm also a big salt&pepper-lover-gal. Okay fries. For some reason it just didn't hit the way I expected it to, especially because that's a pretty good looking burger IMO lol. Man I never make the trip into Austin but we met up with some friends that were passing the area and they said to check this place out. 100% best burger I've had in quite some time, the bread they use for the buns is super tasty. I got a burger (can't reminder the name, it was a zip code like 78604 or something) that had jalepenos, house sauce and pepper jack cheese, it kinda fell apart but honestly that's a great sign for a burger like this. What a dump! Sticky floors, no AC, and dated depressing interior. Felt bad for the employees. Went for the outside playhouse in for my toddler. Outside was okay. Too many used cups and straws all over the ground but the playhouse itself was cool and had enough seating. Most of it is gated except one side so felt safe to let the kiddo run around while we eat. The adult chicken tenders rank as one of the worst I have ever had. After a few minutes, the meat dried up and was hard and pretty much inedible. The mixed fried (regular fries and sweet potato fries) were pretty good. The fish sandwich is on par with McDonald's fish fillet sandwich except more expensive. Service was good and helpful. If there's a next time, I'll opt for the burgers as that's their main thing. read more

We went here for a play date! As a parent of a small child living up NW, this place is a great option for the whole family. The playground is nice, and the burgers and fries are pretty decent. I love that you can order mini versions of their burgers. We shared the 3 mini option with a side of mixed fries (regular and sweet potato) which was really nice. My only complaint is the noise. We showed up at opening time (11am) on Saturday, and it got very busy and loud quickly. In looking for a casual restaurant to dine at in northwest Austin I selected Phil's Icehouse. I have eaten at Phil's at two other locations and really enjoy their food. It's tightly located off of US 183 next to iFLY and Amy's Ice Cream. There is a playground outside which seem to attract the families here to eat. I ordered the Hot and Crunchy Fish Sandwich. It arrived in a basket along with French fries. The fish sandwich was what I expected but a little better. The square fish patty had a crispy breading with soft fish inside. The whole sandwich was very favorable to my taste buds. This family friendly restaurant is a great place and though probably want to skydive before filling up with burgers and fish sandwiches. read more

My first meal after landing in Austin for a week long vacation was to this Phil's location. Our friends who picked us up from the airport loves Phil's and all his burgers (and other food, too), so I went along for the ride. We showed up around 1:30 PM on a Thursday afternoon. The lunch rush had ended, so the dining room was wide open with no kids in the play area (it was also 100 degrees outside, so no surprise there). We ordered our food, got our drinks from the fountain and sat down at one of the long benches. Our onion rings (to share) were ready first; the server asked us if we wanted them right away or with our burgers. We took them right away, served fresh and hot! The breading was lighter than I was used to seeing in onion rings and had a good flavor and texture. The burgers came out next. I ordered the Brentwood (a bacon cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato, sliced onions, pickles, mayo, mustard, 2 slices of bacon, and cheddar cheese on a toasted sourdough bun) along with an order of mixed fries (regular and sweet potato). The burger was cooked medium well, the produce tasted fresh (with the lettuce being very crisp), and the bun was soft, but dense enough to hold up to the juicy burger. The fries were cooked and seasoned well. And the soda fountain had all a good selection of beverages. Overall, we had a wonderful meal, and the meal was a great value (especially since regular or mixed fries comes with the burgers). I tried the jollyville burger & 78704. Preferred the 78704 because it had more flavor w/ the jalapeños & chipotle mayo. Also I liked the bun. The patty to me just didn't seem that flavorful though. Jollyville Burger $9.29- Bacon, egg, cheddar cheese, and a burger served between two slices of sourdough french toast. Huge, but I expected more flavor from the patty. Tried some of the syrup it came with but figured it had enough calories. Fuddrucker's is still my #1 burger place. "78704" Burger $8.49- The south of the river burger is topped with Monterey Jack cheese, jalapeños, grilled onions, sliced avocado, and chipotle mayo on a toasted jalapeño cheese bun. Preferred this over the jollyville. It had more flavor with the Chipotle mayo & jalapeños. It was only a little spicy. I liked the bun! Highland Hills Chicken Sandwich $9.49- Fried chicken breast tossed in Frank's Hot Sauce then topped with bleu cheese, lettuce and tomato on a toasted sourdough bun. Mom got this, the chicken was huge and thick. She thought it was spicy, but I didn't try it. Tried the onion rings, fried green beans, & the mix of fries /sweet potato fries. I'll be the first to admit I'm not a huge burger person and I'll also say this is the worst burger I've ever gotten at a restaurant. I got the Rosedale with a turkey burger and despite having all these different elements it still managed to be dry and bland. Even though I could taste the barbecue sauce, pickles, onions and meat it all failed to become more than the sum of its parts the way a good burger should. Even the fries were as bad as fries can ever be. I wondered how I could get this whole meal for less than $10 and after having eaten it I now understand.
