I came here for lunch with friends, a late, late, late lunch around 2.30ish. It's a low-key place, fast casual vibes, very basic. It was empty save for a large catering order being worked on and just one staff member, so it took a bit to get our order in, and even have our presence acknowledged, the last bit being the only complaint. Let's talk food then. Our group all ordered the zinger, a fried chicken sandwich along with fries and mozz sticks. The mozz sticks are stock restaurant depot caliber. Good for their purpose. The fries, not sure if house made but damn did they deliver the bite. Crispy outside and mushy soft on the inside. Can the chicken live up to that? HELL YEAH and moar! God damn was the chicken done right. The bird should be honored to die if it goes in this restaurant's fryer. Tried the new zabihah halal fried chicken under the new management and it's incredible. At the time of this review, the fried chicken isn't listed on Uber Eats or their in store menu but it's available and absolutely worth the 20 to 30 minute wait. The chicken is crispy, juicy, and spicy but not too spicy. Hands down the best halal fried chicken in Austin. My kiddo doesn't like spicy food but he will eat this chicken, taking huge sips of water in between bites. That is a testament to how good the chicken is! As far as I know, this is the only spot in Austin serving Middle Eastern broasted fried chicken. Halal Wings is probably the next closest option but this is better in every measurable way. I think there are just a few standout items here. Besides the fried chicken, I have also heard good things about the Zinger and the chicken tenders. The fries are average but get the job done. That said, the overall dine in experience leaves a lot to be desired. As we were walking in, a guy walking out warned us they are very rude here. Inside the place was empty and remained so, except one other family came in to eat. Most of the tables were dirty. There was only one person working and doing everything so I'm giving her some grace on both the mess and the unfriendly vibes. With that said, the ambiance, cleanliness, and the service do not match the menu prices. We will keep coming back for the fried chicken but definitely not to dine in. Food here is REALLY good what they make, they make it with care and it's made to order so stuff is not sitting around getting stale. This does mean it takes a while for the food to be ready but it's worth the wait! I especially love the fried catfish. We used to order from outpost or shenanigans and the first owners we knew would happily deliver to us. No more. We open it up. Wet wings, no napkins. Then the gyro plate: advertised as with rice and a house salad. No rice but cold salad packaged in the same container with hot meat. Why would anyone want hot salad and cold meat? Also ranch for the wings yes. But asked for ranch for the salad and got tzatziki. So I go get napkins and explain. He says no I asked him if he wanted a salad. We thought as per the site, which has a multitude of spelling errors - I understand it's not their first language but why not Google it - that both were included. He was rude and kept interrupting while o tried to explain the issue that there should be both. He says it's under the gyro meat. There was no rice. He says okay I'll make some for you, give me ten minutes. I said don't worry about it. I get back to the bar and it had all been finished so we would have just been eating rice alone if he'd made it for ten minutes. Next time I'll opt for McDonald's. I'm sorry this was a terrible experience. It was a convenient location but gas station food will be next time. I used to love this place. Look. This is probably more of a three star place but I'm feeling generous and they definitely get bonus points for being open late and up north. A dark horse challenger to Pluckers, they are not, however someone picking up the phone and making me wings at 11:45 deserves a nod. Honestly the wings were not bad. The sauces are not as good as pluckers -- that's a real thing but I was happy with my decision. I got the Hot and Mercury Hot. Both sauces were a little lacking in real flavor but had some heat to them. The Mercury Hot isn't crazy hot but does look angry and is more heat forward and less flavorful. Maybe another pro tip would be to ask for your wings naked with sauces on the side. The bleu cheese dressing is a bit funky. I suggest sticking with ranch. After the fact I tried to put my finger on it and I figured it out. It IS FUNKY.. like bleu cheese! I mean a strong funk. Cheese forward. Maybe great on a salad but I think people who are combatting hot sauce are looking for something more akin to "Marie's" rather than something more flavor forward. I ordered my food on Ubereats I hate driving. Well I'm very specific with my food when I order it former BBW and I like to eat. My order was 10 bone in lemon pepper wings w/blue cheese and spicy lemon pepper sauce. Then my mozzarella sticks because cheese at night amirite *kanye shrug* My order arrived and I have no idea who's food I got but it isn't what my taste buds expected. Paul apologized many times and instantly went into repair mode. Mr. Paul took my number, name and order stating he would make sure it was delivered the following day. I told him 2pm and he actually called which shocked me but I was still sleeping. I happen to be going out that afternoon called him back he was on it. Very bright smile and kind nature. They were only serving wings and sides, so of course we ordered wings. I got the 10 piece BBQ and sweet & spicy. Side of fries, veggies and ranch. Great flavor. 1st time here. We just did a carry out order and the food was ready before the time frame we were given. The restaurant was clean, which is always nice! My wife got the philly cheese steak and enjoyed it. She did mention that the meat was chopped up a little too much and she would like more cheese, which is an easy thing to fix....just ask for extra cheese :) The sandwich gave her the philly cheese steak fix she was looking for so that is a good thing! I ordered the 10 piece bone in chicken wings and really enjoyed them. They were still a little crispy when I got them home! The two sauces I tried were hot garlic (loved this one!) and the parmesan ranch. The parmesan ranch tasted good but a little more ranch forward for my taste. I think it could have used more parm! I absolutely love this place! I've never dined in, always for pick up. We usually order through eat24. It's always quick and easy. They never mess up my order. My fav is the Philly cheese steak. It is very good and packed with meat and provolone cheese! It's also got bell pepper but it doesn't overwhelm the meat like some places. Just gives it an awesome flavor. I love the okra over their fries. Ask to have it fried a little crispy. The wings are fabulous. Super crispy and packed with flavor. Hot garlic and lemon pepper are my faves. They give extra dipping sauce no charge. They give nice big pieces of celery and carrots at no charge which is nice when you have some wings joints charging for it. Went here because ratings were very solid. Our order was wrong, twice. We ordered Shrimp Rice and instead got fried shrimp with fries. We also ordered mozzarella sticks as an app. When they did bring out the mozzarella sticks (after reminding them), they were still cold on the inside.
