This was okay! Nothing more or nothing less. I stopped here for a quick drive thru dinner. I ordered the chicken tender meal with a side of corn nuggets. Across the board, the food could have been hotter. The chicken seemed pretty standard for fast food fare and the sauces were alright. The cashier was sweet though and I was reminded of the fact that I was in Texas by the colossal soda that came with my meal. I can't say I'd be back if the opportunity presented. read more

The fried catfish, chicken and chicken strips are all very good. Hi I have eaten there many times and it seems that they have put too much sugar in the coleslaw and the creamed corn was way way too sweet also. I like their food hopefully they'll correct the recipes on those two items since they seem to have changed. Otherwise, I would give it 4 to 4 1/2 stars for the value and quality of the food. Perhaps if they get the sugar out, things would taste better and I can increase the number of stars I give. read more

I really like chicken express because it's one of the only places nearby that sells fried fish (until rolling rooster came in further down 620). I love that they make the fish fresh to order so you do have to wait but you know your fish is being cooked fresh instead of sitting there in the heater for hours. The only issue I have is the time frame when you order online and time it takes for the location to actually confirm the order. I had to wait 45 min one night for my order of 3 fish filet to be ready and that was with no one in the to-go line. Sometimes it's difficult to have a car of kiddos waiting 10+ min. For your order to be prepared but that is just something you deal with when your order is prepared fresh I guess. read more

Decided I had a taste for fish so I went here just because I was in the area, normally I wouldn't go to a chicken place for fish but somehow it was calling my name, ordered just the 2 pc with hush puppies, I see my fish is made to order so that's a plus while waiting the aroma was smelling so good I thought I was in a soul food restaurant. The lady ( I forgot her name) read me my options, which was different varieties of bone-in or boneless chicken. I was disappointed that there wasn't a spicy chicken option (especially in Texas!) I ordered the lunch special which included 3 strips a drink and a side with gravy included no matter which side you pick and your choice of a biscuit or a roll for $5.99. The lady made small talk while the cooks prepared my meal as I made myself an Arnold Palmer. The chicken was good, crispy, above average for mild chicken, but again I prefer spicy. I would be back only because of the great service I got. The mac n' cheese side I order was your average Joe, far from outstanding and disgusting. if I create this a zero, I would I am a fan of chicken express and often when I don't want to cook I will stop by and grab a three-piece. however, today I picked up food on my way home and it was gross almost as though the chicken had been sitting under a light the whole entire day I asked for fries that did not have salt. I was given old fries that look like and felt like they had been sitting out for hours. When I reached out to the manager Alex and explained to him that I had gotten home, chicken express is kind of far and there's a lot of traffic. He basically told me well there's nothing I can do. I ordered 15 chicken strips with gravy and rolls and a family mashed potatoes through Grub Hub today for home delivery. When I opened the bags, there was no gravy for the chicken or potatoes. I immediately texted the Grub Hub driver and he texted back that CE said they had included it. I then tried for 15 minutes to call the restaurant and it just rang and rang. My family and I eat here probably every other week or so. As far as food quality goes, it's great. We've never had a complaint about the food itself. My issue, for the third time now, is accuracy of the order. Each time we have an order of more than 3 meals, one order is wrong. And that order is always mine. This time was the biggest miss. The strips weren't spicy, my okra was missing, and I got a roll instead of a biscuit. I did get jalapeno ranch, so that's positive. You may ask yourself, "If you have had this issue before, why didn't you check the order?". You see, I did check MOST of the order. Was visiting Austin and decided to try Chicken Express and was glad I did! I thought it was really good. I ordered the catfish fillets and and they were hot but not greasy at all and so delicious -- much better than Popeye's. They had EVERYTHING from tenders to fried chicken livers and gizzards! The mashed potatoes were served with real chicken gravy -- not the brownish stuff KFC serves. The hush puppies were good as well. I even liked the lemonade -- it wasn't over sweetened or acidic -- just right. The servers were excellent too -- courteous, friendly and it was fast. The food is decent but you'd better check your bag for the correct or missing contents. The resturarant is notorious for shorting orders. This isn't a rare occurrence. It happens enough that it is a chronic problem. The failure is entirely crappy store MANAGEMENT. You know you're in trouble when the best part of a fried chicken strip four-piece lunch is the cole slaw. It was good. Most Express franchises are consistently good. Here the strips were two layers of batter with about 1/8" chicken meat between. It's like the manager took chicken meat and ran it through an old fashioned wringer to flatten the meat and make it go farther. Mostly breading. Ick! If I'm going to eat unhealthy at least give me some meat to dip into my white gravy! It's also phenomenal how much styrofoam this place uses. That made me feel even more guilty. read more
