I really did not appreciate that the waitress did not clearly explain the water bottle situation when I asked for clarification. I have been to the Airport location before, where each guest received one complimentary bottle of water. Since it had been a while since my last visit to KBBQ, I wasn't sure whether the bottled water would be complimentary or if we would be charged for it. When the waitress brought out the bottled water, I asked whether it was free. She simply said, "No," so we asked for tap water instead. She gave us cups, but then told us the restaurant did not have tap water. I explained that if the bottled water was not complimentary, I did not want to pay for something that most restaurants provide for free, it's the principle, all restaurants will at least have tap water. We decided to keep only one bottle, and it turned out that the first bottle was complimentary after all. Delicious Wings & Great Service! Tried BBQ Chicken and had a great experience! We ordered two medium flavors, Caribbean and Garlic Honey along with cheesy fries and picked radish. Everything was tasty and cooked just right. We originally asked for boneless wings but were accidentally given traditional ones. The staff was really sweet about it and quickly brought us the boneless instead without any fuss. I also wanted something spicier, so I asked for hot sauce and they brought it right away. I was in the mood for fried chicken yesterday but was tired of Bushes and Golden Chick. We remembered there was a bbq chicken right by Hmart so we decided to eat there. We got there right when it opened around 11:30 am and were greeted instantly since we were the first customers there. Anthony was a very attentive, quick and polite server. My boyfriend and I both got the lunch combo for 15 bucks. We tried the original flavor and the secret sauce. We both agreed the secret sauce flavor was the better option. It comes with pickled radish for that nice refreshing flavor and crunch. Also we got the dukbokki (I am sure I spelt it wrong sorry). I almost never leave poor reviews but this was not good at all. I love fried chicken but the crust tasted like it has some weird chemicals in it (maybe you need the sauce to cover that up idk), but it tasted sketch. I usually don't eat fast/junk food tho so maybe I just notice it more but this is not something I would ever eat again. For the big game ordered some wings from here...they were accompanied by an order of french and sweet potato fries...The flavors of the wings were; Secret Sauce, Honey Garlic and Galbi...ALL three flavors were delicious but everyone ultimately picked the Galbi as their fave. We did experience a hiccup as we ordered the wings for carry out and when I got there despite receiving a text that my order was ready...they were not! Apparently the ordering system crashed and they were running about twenty minutes behind schedule. The staff was on it, moving as fast as they could, they were honest and up front about what happened. They offered a free drink for my inconvenience. This restaurant clearly doesn't care about customer service. I wanted to order 24 wings for my kids with half soy and half cheesling, but they won't allow you to split flavors. You're forced to choose only one flavor per order, which is ridiculous if you don't want more than 24 wings. Horrible experience. i felt our table was constantly overlooked, we asked if water is only purchase or if we can get a glass of water. The waitress gave us the weirdest freakin answer saying it's free but it'll be bottled. So i said ok that'll be great-- in my head- why would i eat chicken wings without water. Who can do that? I came in last Sunday with Thing One after his day of community service. This place was on list for a while to visit, and I am so glad I finally made the plunge and stopped in. Let's go! Whole Chicken (half and half) Hot and Spicy made with Gochujang. Gochujang, a fundamental ingredient in Korean cooking, is a thick and spicy-sweet crimson paste made from red chile pepper flakes, glutinous rice (also known as sticky rice), fermented soybeans, and salt. I've had this sauce in the past, and it's generally a bit spicy, punchy, salty, and savory. Gochujang traditionally also gets its gentle sweetness from its fermentation process. But THIS sauce was H-O-T, so much so that Thing One's nose was sweating. I enjoy spicy food, but this kicked my arse. I am lucky I didn't have an "ass fire" and have to get it put out with "Uncle Orville's airboat." The Golden Original chicken was crispy, fresh, and juicy. The chicken served here will rival any fresh fried chicken joint. The calamari and the french fries were also fresh and flavorful. Overall, the food served here was great, and the level of service was just as top-tier. During the meal, we were also provided with complementary pickled radish. It's been a while since the last time I stopped by one of these, as they are a chain. It's been years I think. But whatever I stopped by because i was really craving this type of food. What annoys me is how damn expensive it is for a 8 piece. 8 piece tenders and a ranch came out just above $19. I was annoyed but my craving was stronger. Once I started eating I completely forgot how damn good they are! Also for 8 pieces I figured I'd be hungry after. Tbh not really. 10 would be just enough to be super full but 8 is that perfect middle ground. While I waited I sat and grabbed a beer which was poured into a frozen glass and almost felt too nice for a coors lights. While I sat there I took a look at the place as it was calm and mellow. Cool little vibe and the people there were nice. Overall good experience. Price is just a little more than I'd want to spend on tenders but then again. They were juicy and the sauce was fire. They have the best Korean fried chicken (comes with pickled radish) which matches with our preference (almost similar to my homemade Thai fried chicken) but theirs comes with a HIGH PRICE tag. They have medium or large size for their fried chicken. 8-9 small wings (Medium) or 8-9 pieces of original boneless for $16.95 (excluding taxes) and they have flavored soju for $15 each (you can get it from H-Mart for less). FOOD: In my personal opinion, their fried chicken is superior than most fried chicken at other restaurants in terms of seasoning and flavor (not salty and subtlety spicy especially the spicy original wings), and the texture, (crispy but not oily - try their Golden original boneless); but I have to seriously deduct one star due to the high price and inconsistency of their service. (But we also totally love their Takoyaki and Rose Tteokbokki as well). NOTE: I would stay away from their sauces as they're all too sweet even their spiciest one. SERVICE: We have never dined-in at this place so I can't comment on the dine-in service but we have ordered online for pickup multiple times. We love their online order system where they give you the time when your order will be ready. {The last time we ordered while we were grocery shopping at H-Mart. We got there early and let the hostess know that we came to pick up our order. She said she'd let us know when the order is ready. Ordered take out this weekend and looks like we may have found our new go to place for kstyle fried chicken close to home. We have yet to dine in but the place looked spacious and looks like they give you a bucket to discard your bones which is nice. However, online ordering was easy and our food was ready when we came to pickup. We didn't have a chance to eat until much later but the chicken was surprisingly still fairly crispy and warm. Therefore, I can only imagine how much better it would taste if we had it fresh! We opted for the whole chicken and got the original and the secret sauce which tasted like a sweet chili based sauce. I might suggest putting the sauce on the side if you know you can't eat until later as it's much trickier to air fry without burning. Oh, and we also got 2 sides of pickled radish which complimented the fried chicken. Overall, if you are looking for some fried chicken up north this place is pretty convenient. He proclaimed it his new fried chicken place. What are the differences? 1. It's cooked to order - nothing sits under a heat lamp. You will burn your mouth if you eat it right away. 2. It's very frustrating finding out that the kitchen and dining is closed a whole hour before the closing time, me and my wife arrived at 9:30 when the restaurant closes at 10:30. There're other Korean Fried Chicken spots in North Central Austin area that are not typically open for lunch, but for the same amount of pieces, their portion is bigger, complimentary water is offer, and it's typically $2-3 cheaper.
