(I was only coming in for the jalapeño poppers) their tea is also very fresh even at closing!! The gravy was yummy as was the tenders. The roll was well a good roll... like the fries... all done well. This is my first time in a Bush's so it has a nice feel as I see they support the local high school teams. "Opened 10-10 Monday-Saturday" Well on this Thursday morning, they were in fact not open at 10:15 & when I attempted to open the door, all the workers just stared and when back about their business without offering any explanation. I've only been to Bush's twice and the second time was even better than the first. The girl taking our order was sweet and our food came out fairly fast. The chicken tenders were juicy and the crust was perfectly crispy crunchy. The gravy also had a nice flavor. I didn't care too much for the Mac n cheese as it tasted "fake". I'm not really sure how else to explain it. I also tried The Sink meal (sin blue cheese) and it was pretty tasty. There was a decent amount of Buffalo sauce and chicken on the fries and it came together nicely, but it still felt like it was missing something. *Tip* I dumped some of the Mac in there and that just elevated the whole thing. *Bush's should definitely consider adding Mac n cheese to the meal* All in all, I've decided this will now be our go to chicken place. My grocery store makes way better chicken and for half the price. These chicken strips barely had any meat in them and were a bit stringy and tough. The taters and gravy were ok I guess, not bad. Worst customer service experience I've ever had with a Bush's chicken. I got asked "what do you want?" In a rude tone to begin my experience... politely said "hi how is your day?" And once again greeted with disgust... when my food did arrive it was basically shoved into the window of the vehicle with "here.." and she turned away before I could even hand her a $5 tip for a $12 meal and say merry Christmas... if someone doesn't want to be here THAT badly, they shouldn't have come into work or gotten hired. I get working in customer service can be a shit show and I'm sure the people that frequent this location can be Assholes. there's a bunch of coupons that get sent in the mail with your junk mail funnily enough and apparently they're only for the Georgetown location. If you're going to explain it to me, and refuse my coupon, and tell me this is "not us" , and then just stare at me maybe you could do it a little bit nicer and not talk to me like I am two years old. No where is it stated on the flyer or on the coupon that I gave you that it's only for Georgetown why would you send out coupons to your north location? For a fast food chicken place, Bush's tops the charts. Food always good, served hot and fresh. The chicken doesn't sit around very long. I love the choices on sides. They have a side salad that I get instead of fries. Trying to save a little bit when eating this delicious, crunchy fried chicken. I love dark meat and that's what I always order. The cole slaw is good, fries are good, mac n cheese, also yummy. I have friends that like the gizzards and livers, which make me cringe but each to their own. Construction on 620 is a mess and hard to get in there, but I fight to do it. It's worth it. Compared to Popeye's, Church's and Golden Chick, Bush's is the top chick! The best part about this visit was how kind the staff was including the manager who actually scared me when he came out to the car while we were waiting for our cool food. You know, for the amount of times I've driven past Bush's chicken without a second glance, I finally thought to give it a go for some fast food fried chicken. And when I ordered my tenders box and got my combo, I found out that Bush's actually serves up some great fried chicken. Yum! The sides are phenomenal and our favorites were the corn nuggets or green beans. Southern comfort meets fast drive through, the staff taking our order was great and helpful, no intercom system, just old school human interaction and 3 lanes for the drive thru! The best!! I tried many chicken places but I have to say that this is one of the best chicken places here in North Austin area. I am so in love with the rolls dipped in their gravy sauce. Chicken also pairs nice with the sweet tea to cleanse the palette. Well there's hardly much grease to begin with which I'm thankful for. My little monsters really like the chicken tenders the most. When you cater, they really take care of you. They cook the chicken close to schedule pick up time to ensure freshness. They gave me more than enough gravy and rolls as well. Otherwise it would be one star since I just waited a bit and the menu in the second lane for a while, then pulled forward to not hold up the second lane any more. Both positions, completely ignored though they took the orders around me. I'm not sure if I did something wrong since it's been quite some time since I've been to a Bush's. Will stick to the round Rock location since that's the only one I've been to before this one. You can barely get through the door. Twenty five minutes later, the place will be deserted. If the question is whether Bush's Fried Chicken is better than school lunch, that is an easy call. Head for the Bush's. Is Bush's Fried Chicken better than James Beard's homemade buttermilk fried chicken? What do you think? * * * Now for the fair and reasonable question. Is Bush's Fried Chicken better than other fast food fried chicken? Sorry folks, but Popeye's takes the prize here. The winning margin is huge. However, Bush's is not awful. What is the difference between Bush's and Popeye's? Popeye's actually seasons their batter. So their chicken has some real taste. Both Bush's and Popeye's use factory chicken, But Bush's does a very plain jane batter. There is some fried taste - but it still does not taste like much. Still, Bush's does compensate in three ways. Way One) There is way more batter on your Bush's chicken than you get with Popeye's. You get huge towering mountains of batter. So even if the batter is fairly bland, you still get some fry-taste action due to the sheer quantity of material involved. Way Two) They put salt and pepper and ketchup and hot sauce and honey on your table. So you can season the chicken to suit to please. I did a lot of experimenting. My first vote was for the hot sauce straight up. Hot sauce and honey in combination was not bad either. So with a little fooling around - I did not have too unpleasant a lunch. Way Three) They sell six thousand times more chicken tenders than straight up fried chickens. They fancy schmantzy up the tender presentations to give them some taste. They put the tenders on salad and put salad dressing on them. They put the tenders on french fries and put buffalo sauce on them. There are lots of variations on this theme. So you can add the sauce of your choice at table - or you can have Bush's do it for you in the kitchen. * * * How are the sides? Em em em ..... My corn on the cob had died a week ago. I performed a memorial service for the corn and gave it a decent burial in the trash bin. My roll tasted like the filling of a synthetic foam pillow. That was buried next to my corn on the cob. On the other hand, their sweet iced tea is genuinely nifty. They brag about it on the menu - and they are completely right to brag. You can leave the soda pop alone when you go to Bush's. * * * Overall, middle of the road for fast food chain fried chicken. There is better fast food fried chicken out there. Not really sure what we were expecting when we stopped here to get food. We were in the area and had to be somewhere but needed to pick up some food. Since neither of us had had Bush's Chicken we decided to give it a try. We went through the drive thru and I have to be honest it's quite a strange set up. They have people come out and take your order and then you drive up and they will bring the food out to you. After they have given you the food do they take the money, kind of an odd and inefficient set up in my opinion. But they do have multiple cars waiting at the end of the drive thru, so maybe it works, not really sure yet. The food was okay, I wouldn't say it was terrible but I also wouldn't say that it was amazing and I would come back. I do notice that in the paper, there are always coupons for this place, we just don't have one near our house. The menu is quite extensive for a fast food place, sort of makes it confusing when you are trying to order. I would say there are other better fast food chicken places in and around the area, but it's not terrible and would probably be okay on some occasions. I wouldn't ever really say of all the places in the area this is a must either. read more

I drove back and talked to the store manager. The manager had the option of doing the right thing but denied it. They should have satisfied the customer. Kudos for the fast, friendly service and the extremely clean restaurant! This is always nice to see, especially when walking in before the lunch hour rolls around. Alas, I can't really give a higher rating as I can't highly recommend the food. I love chicken tenders, and especially enjoy them when they're fresh. The batch I received was halfway warm, but definitely they don't fry to order. Instead, there's a huge pile of tenders in one of the bins they pick the food out of. The tenders are reasonably crispy, but that's all there is to recommend them. They and the sides are bland, unless one counts 'salt' as flavor. However, there are bottles of ketchup, tabasco, and honey on each table to slather on as needed. TLDR: If you're not too picky, this is a fast and clean location to get a bit to eat at, and it's a relative bargain. This place scores a 3 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. For a fast food spot Bush's really does the dang thing. The chicken is fantastic and the gravy is dreamy. Fries are crinkle cut but unfortunately soggy. But, the thing that really steals the show are the rolls. I could easily eat a whole box and let my diet go down the drain. The service is friendly and quick. The drive thru has gotten progressively worse since my last review as the good employees are no longer there. As a previous reviewer mentioned there are two young employees working who seem lost, particularly the female. I am new to the area and new to a lot of new food chains, including Bush's Chicken. This review is from a first timer. Here are my thoughts on the place during my first visit: 1. The staff is unbelievably nice and friendly. Everyone I encountered here was smiling, outgoing, and genuine. It's so refreshing to be around nice people. 2. On top of being nice, the staff really wanted to do a great job. They were all working hard and checking on everyone. No one was slacking and everyone was working as a team. The customer service was fabulous! 3. The food came out super hot, like nuclear fission hot, as well as fast! I hardly had time to get to my table when the food came out. Everything was fresh and looked lovely. This is just amazing compared to most fast food places, in my opinion. 4. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. I got the manager special, which is available from 10-3 daily. It included 3 tenders, fries or mashed potatoes, a roll, a side of gravy, and a soda for $5.50. Not too shabby in my book! Everything else on the menu looked to be priced accordingly. I totally felt like I was getting a great deal for my money. I left full and happy. 5. The store was sparkling clean. I know this is a new location, but I swear it was spotless and shiny. The outside looked as good as the inside. 6. Each table had salt, pepper, special seasoning, ketchup, and hot sauce on them. It's nice to have all condiments you need on the table. I am one of those people that always forgets something and end up running back and forth several times before I can sit down and eat. Thanks for making my life easier, at least for my lunch period! Now for the food review! The food itself was pretty standard run of the meal. Here's the run down: The chicken tenders were big and juicy. The breading was fried perfectly and was a beautiful golden brown when it came out. On a whim as I was heading to Chick-Fil-A, I decided to detour into Bush's Chicken. This was my first time here. I pulled into the parking, lot skipping the drive thru for the full inside take out service experience, plus I always like to see the cleanliness of the kitchen the first time I go some place and see if the employees absolutely hate their jobs or not. I wasn't disappointed here, the kitchen was clean and the employees was engaged in their work. I had to figure out the chicken menu. I always heard their sweet tea alone was worth a visit. The gentlemen that helped me whom I'm going to assume was the manager was very helpful and patient. I had the deer in headlights look as I perused the menu in search of a chicken meal of interest to me. I didn't want to get too much or too little for the first time. It had to be just right. I ended up going with the 3 piece and a roll. I was also given a complimemtary order of sweet tea to try. I have to skip the chicken and go straight to the sweet tea. It was good really good I will be getting a jug for the fridge next time and tea will get me t come back for some chicken. The tea is very sweet, but in a just right type of way with the crushed iced mixed in especially. The chicken was good. Well seasoned, very crispy skin and nice hot tempture. Its good enough to quell a fried chicken craving, but not great enough to go out of your way for it. She always has a smile, friendly disposition, and memorized our order so she knows exactly what we want. the past few times i've gone here the employees have been super unattentive, i was waiting at the counter for like 6 minutes before i had to raise my voice to get anyones attention. i visited today and the girl that took my order was rude as hell and kept interrupting me saying "what do you want for your drink????" because she didn't wanna ask to put extra tomatoes on my salad, because she's lazy. after i got my food, i had to stand there for about 2 minutes while the manager stood on his phone, waiting for some to go hot sauce. everytime i come in they get more rude and less productive. should be able to be in and out, without some 12 year old looking girl giving me attitude. read more
