Poor Service, went around 1pm on a Tuesday, waited 26 mins for sandwich when only one person was a head of me when I entered. Jada was working the register and had poor customer service, she didn't care and it showed. Asked if I wanted to round up my transaction for donation and I declined and rounded up my transaction anyway. When I asked to correct she seemed irritated for having to. While waiting for 26 mins I overheard another employee welcome a customer "welcome to five guys" was the greeting. The poor guy eating on his break almost 100% of the time must go to the back and pull someone up front to take our order. No one is ever at the front to greet potential customers. And on occasion there has been confusion on who is to wait on me. While some of the women have some of their hair pulled back in a pony tail (no nets), almost all of them have tuffs/clumps/multi strains of hair out of their pony tail, hanging down into their face and MY FOOD!!! My wife, once again, loves this place. They have a few subs I enjoy not really being a sub guy. She gets the Engineer and I stick with chicken or the smokehouse beef and cheddar brisket both really good. Staff always friendly and they have 4 to 5 people working even during slower times. A step up from Subway or many food places that run Skelton crews. Place is clean, has two TVs playing sports and nice bathrooms. A bit pricey but the food and service are better due to that. read more

I really enjoy Firehouse subs. I'm a frequent customer since there is one by my office. Today a friend and I decided to stop in to grab lunch. We both ordered a medium sandwich and a side dish. We took it to go. When we got back to my place, ten minutes away, my friend realized he was given the wrong sandwich so we decided to go back. When we got back to the store, my food and his was cold on top of having the wrong order. We told the manager we would like both of our orders remade so that we could enjoy the meal together as planned. A Firehouse Sub is not good cold, hence the name and branding of the company. The manager insisted that he hadn't made a mistake and that he was being generous by fixing my friend's sandwich. He refused to acknowledge the fact that we had to come back and ALL of the food was now cold! He gave us tons of attitude and kept taking in circles about how he can't serve us and that he did not make a mistake when he in fact did. Eventually we just demanded our money back because the food was ice cold at this point and he didn't care about making us a new meal despite it being his fault. I will not return to this location. Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket, Engineer, Turkey Bacon Ranch. Can't go wrong with any of those. It's a bit pricey but the portions are huge and they donate a portion to a Public Safety Foundation. The broccoli cheddar soup is on point. They have those soda machines where you can customize your own drink. It gets pretty busy so if you don't want to wait, you can order online or on their app. Oh and the hot sauce collection...have not seen such a variety in any other store! COVID-19 related review: I just checked the health department web site and yes, stage five is still in effect. The question then comes to mind, "Why is it two of the four employees, including the manager, are not wearing masks?" I realize the governor of the state said they don't have to. He's a moron. Walking in today I start to regret my decision. I thought this place cared. Today I ordered online for the first time. It was very easy to navigate and I paid with my debit card. The screen said "thank you for your order" and gave me an updated time for pick-up. It had previously promised a pick up time of 1:01 PM but because I took a few minutes making my order, the pick up time was bumped to 1:07 PM. I arrived at the shop but my order was not on the cart. I inquired at the register as to the whereabouts of my paid order. After a few minutes of searching, a gentleman who I am assuming was the supervisor, advised me my card had been declined. This was totally my error as I transposed the first two numbers. He explained that they had my order but did not make it yet. I produced my debit card, paid for the order and minutes later the supervisor hand delivered my order to me with many apologies for something that was NOT their fault. Had the engineer, perfect ratio of meat to veggies. And the bread wasn't over toasted

For me and a couple coworkers, this used to be a place we'd go to frequently. We'd get greeted as we walked in the door with a rowsing "Welcome". Now, nothing. The sandwiches are average. Not terrible, but not amongst the best either. The veggies are somewhat limited, and not really inspiring. There used to be tons of hot sauce choices to make up for the blandish sandwiches. Maybe I just caught them needing to restock, but it looked like they had only half the choices they used to have on my recent visit. TIP: If you're getting the 'cherry limeade", you're supposed to add the limes they have there to it. Otherwise it's just, err... cherry ade. I see they have one of them fancy-dancy soda machines that seem to baffle your average shouldn't-be-in-the-self-service-line-at-the-grocery-store customer. Now that those are all over North Austin, I'm hoping people get faster with it. I'm waiting for the iPhone interface. Used to love going to the Firehouse Subs. This is a brand new location that just opened recently. This was my first experience with Firehouse Subs and I think a pretty good one. A co-worker and I went there for lunch and ordered a large Veggie sub. I ordered right after him, but his meal arrived and mine never did. So, I waited for about 5 minutes and then asked someone and apparently they had lost my slip. Not a big deal, they said that they would make me up a new sandwich right away. What I thought was great was the manager there actually came over to me and personally apologized and then gave me a free medium sandwich card. Excellent customer service. They also happened to have one of the largest collections of hot sauces that I have ever seen. There had to be ~100 bottles on the counter. The sandwich was pretty decent - they actually have large and medium sized rolls (they don't just cut a large in half). The bread was a little lackluster, but the veggies were good. When comparing all the various sandwich shops (at least the ones of the chain variety) around town, firehouse subs always rises to the top as one of my favorites. Its a little pricey. Around $9.00 for a sub that is not quite enough. If the manager is reading this, I recommend that you begin asking people at checkout if they would like a medium or a large sub. The option on the menu is kind of hard to find at first glance and I didn't even realize there was an option to upgrade to a larger size until it was too late. I would have gladly paid the couple bucks more for more sandwich. I used to love Quizno's but since Subway has been pushing them out of business all over town I have to find a new spot for my sandwiches. I have nothing against Subway but sometimes I want something that does not feel quite so fast food. I do love the coke machine though. I feel so American when I am using it. 100's of combinations of soda? Why not? Not a hot sauce fan but I do like that they give a lot of options. Firehouse is super tasty, and a super good alternative to cooking at home or eating at the same ol' restaurant over and over. The only thing I get is the Engineer with all of its cheesy mushroomy goodness. I add on some of Capt'n Sorenson's spicy sauce and I'm good to go. They also do box lunches, which I am considering for upcoming events at work. This location has an added bonus of the sign spinner on the corner of McNeil and San Felipe. He's always rocking out to some jams and I'm sad when I pass by and he's not there. I'm also quite jealous of his tan, even if it is a Firehouse Subs T-shirt tan. DIDYAKNOW?? You can get a free small sub on your birthday. You don't even have to join a mailing list or a sub club or buy one to get one free, just show up with your drivers license and tell them what you want. Hot subs would be a horrible understatement for the sandwiches you get here. Pros: The sandwiches are huge and packed full of meat. This isn't your local subways where you get a huge sandwich and it's packed with veggies. No sir, this is a true MAN-wich. In addition, the sandwiches always come out piping hot and the cheese is perfectly melted. If you want to add more hotness, there are about 20 different hot sauces to choose from on the counter. My favorites would be the Thai garlic, Cholula, and the BBQ sauce in the jar. Cons: One thing that a sandwich place like Subway's wins over Firehouse is the price. The 6-inch meal or just the full length sub is $7.99 and up. Eight, eight dollar, eight dollar footlong. If you like fresh-tasting, hot and spicy sandwiches, nothing beats Firehouse. I was really sad to see Tin Star go but was interested in the new restaurant in that location. So far I've been there once with my whole family (my wife, me and 4 kids from 12-4). Other than the scarring the hell out of me when we came in by yelling "Welcome to firehouse subs!" it was a very pleasant experience. My wife and I had their cheese steak sub which was very good, my eldest had the Club on a Sub which looked great and she wolfed down and the littler kids enjoyed their meals and plastic fire hats. Each cup has a fire-fighting story which was neat and proved to be a nice distraction while waiting for the food. Their hot sauce selection is superb (over 50 types) if you are into that sort of thing. I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

I visited this location for the first time on my busy lunch break and my debit card wasn't working for some reason. My account was full o cash as I pointed out with my phone app to the cashier. Who knew. So I sat down and called the bank trying to understand why it was not working. The people at Firehouse decided to comp my food even though I never mentioned it and expected to go back to work hungry. Very unexpected and very awesome. I had the meatball sub and unfortunately it was below average in taste and left me feeling gross for the rest of my day. The best draw of Firehouse is all of their different hot sauces but even those can't make up for mediocre sandwiches that are absolutely terrible for your health. They put mayo in my Italian sub! And that wasn't the only sin committed against subkind. The ham was horrifically sweet, as if every individual slice of meat had been bathed in a corn syrup solution prior to being placed into my sandwich. Also starring on the ridiculously, unforgivably sweet scale was the so-called cherry limeade. It was more cherry Kool-Aid than lime. The soda fountain may have suggested adding a squeeze of lime juice, but what they really mean is to take all of the limes from the lemon-lime container and squeeze them into your drink. Then, steal the limes from your friends' drinks and add those, too. If I had one nice thing to say about this place, it would be that the medium is a very generous size and they don't skimp on the meat (unfortunately sugary meat). First off the service was surprisingly good and very friendly. The portions are huge, I guess that is from feeding fire fighters. I have not been able to get over how good the bread was. It is the perfect combination of Chewy and Crunchy. It set the tone for the entire sandwich. The toppings are bountiful and the veggies were fresh. The brisket and cheddar stole the show though, if all of the sandwiches are as good as this then this place will do well. I loved the variety of sauces along the bar to kick it up a notch. Also, if you ever need a bucket they have a charity that helps firefighters if you buy a pickle bucket for $2. I have to say the first trip was good, I will definitely come back again. read more
