I haven't been to a Jason's Deli in a long time, and it looks like they've updated their menu a bit since my last visit. The place is clean, spacious, and the service was excellent. When you arrive, you order at the counter, grab your drink, and find a table with your number--nice and easy setup. I ordered the Deli Cowboy sandwich, which was tasty and filling. I would've liked a bit more red onion and pickles under the melted cheese to balance things out, but I added some myself and it hit the spot. Good location, Friendly staff, Good service, Good food, and a relaxing atmosphere. It's across the highway from my office and located within our construction project. I love the seafood gumbo with the marble rye bread for dippin' up the juice. Wash it all down with an Arnold Palmer. They always let me get a few pickles to enjoy with my lunch. We went on a Sunday just after noon and expected an after church crowd. We were able to walk right up to the cashier and order. After about 20 minutes the church crowd started coming and then there was a steady line. The food came out promptly and our orders were correct. I had their version of a French dip and it was delicious! It was loaded with fresh and lean roasted beef, onions and cheese. Also a cup of au jus that was HOT and not too salty. My partner had the California club and it was so big he took home half for the next day. The free soft serve after the meal was a nice touch. We will be back soon. read more

A family member raved about this place I overlooked. She said it has Vegan options (with modification), like the spinach wrap. The spinach wrap sans cheese was a sandwich on perfectly toasted bread with olives and onions as well as hummus. I wouldn't have thought of making a sandwich like this, yet it was delicious and scrumptious. I live protein veggie burgers, yet there is a time for sandwiches with veggies. We come here fairly often as the kids enjoy the food and you cant beat the free ice cream. The staff is always very polite and kind. The place is clean and has a lot of space which is why we prefer this location over others. They do seem to have frequent issues with their credit card machine for some reason, but not a big deal. read more

The garden Penny pasta barely had veggies. Maybe a tablespoon. The dishes was oily pasta with some chunks of cheese. My Plain Jane potato was bigger than any one I ever remembered. I knew they combined potatoes, but Wow! Thanks to my side salad, it definitely gave me leftovers. It had a good supply of cheese and adequate bacon to cover each part. One suggestion if you order this: have them put the sour cream on top; I found mine under the cheese and it turned a funny texture. My friend's ham and cheese on sourdough made him happy as well. There was a good stack of ham for him to bite into. This restaurant is very spacious and was clean when we arrived. It was also very quiet, the employees working quietly together, and patrons talking softly. It wasn't particularly crowded though, so perhaps this could be different at those times. The club royale (on a butter croissant) is my favorite sandwich here. The muffulettas are decent too. Build your own sandwich is also a great option. Their salad bar is always fresh and filling. The side salad ( one serving at the salad bar) , is very reasonably priced along with a sandwich. So many good things here. Always delivers . This place was the first salad buffet I've tried in Austin as this used to be my husband's go-to place for lunch. As you walk in, place an order and pay at the counter, then you're welcome to get food from the salad bar. They also have soup, sandwiches, etc. so if you don't feel like eating greens, you can always go for something else. We paid for salad bar and got a big place, a dressing bowl and a plastic cup for drinks. We also ordered broccoli cheese soup which was good enough! For salad bar, it literally has greens and salad toppings, but it was great for me that I could add a lot of ingredients for salad considering I barely add some nuts or onions for salad when eating at home. (Believe or not, it takes time to make good salad for sure!) I LOVED they have a lot of topping options such as bacon, cheese, olives, onions, carrots, tomatoes, paprikas, beans as well as eggs, nuts, baguette, etc. They also had almost 10 kinds of dressing prepared which I felt very impressed (even though they're probably not home-made). LoL So pull up not super busy the manager I believe addressed us as we walked in which was nice. We order and boom we are off. The manager special with a sub for the salad bar is where it's at. I made my way to the salad bar and they have so many options it's almost hard to choose. That is until you notice the bowl they gave you is obviously designed to be stacked with good eats. Super hard Now maybe if I had got a soup it would have been ok but I didn't and they just felt like rocks. Ok lastly the main reason I'm writing this review. We were hungry for a quick bite and decided to go to Jason's Deli. I had the manager's special that included 1/2 a sandwich and a salad. I chose the Reuben. It was loaded with hot corned beef and sauerkraut. It had just the right amount of Russian dressing. My trip to the salad bar was also a pleasant experience. To my surprise, they had pickled artichoke hearts along with the usual suspects at a salad bar. I highly recommend trying the 3-grain crackers they have on hand. Heading back home from running a few errands in the Arboretum area, realized I was getting hungry. There was this Jason's near by and thought about their pastrami sandwich. The parking lot in front was packed with cars with Jason delivery light/sign on top. Finally found a spot and walked into the door that said Delivery drivers and take out. It was loaded with to go orders being carried off by drivers. I step up to the counter to place my order. Pastrami sandwich...before I had a chance to say more the cashier started speaking. Now mind you, I'm a transplant from the North and used to fast talker but this girl was so fast. Do you want it hot or cold, what kinda bread, anything on it, toasted or not, how about a drink, what's your name. I got the feeling she was in a rush to get rid of me and go back to the to go orders. I paid and stood off to the side. Kept moving to stay out of way of the drivers picking up. I was so happy to get my sandwich and leave. Once home the sandwich was not as good as I remember it. First time back to Jason's since the pandemic started. I had the soup and salad. I asked the person at the counter, who handed me my soup and salad plates, how to handle the additional salad plate/s since I don't like to mix sweet and savory. She said don't go back to the salad bar directly but return to the counter and we will give you a new clean salad plate. When I returned to get a new clean salad plate, I was told by a gentleman that they only give one salad plate now. I am sorry I didn't serve myself a larger portion and am also sorry I left a great tip. I, however, did decide to ask for the manager and notify him of this review prior to posting. His kind response and offer to give me the extra plate did make me add an additional star to this review. I don't fundamentally believe people should have to ask for the manager. All staff should know of the "one trip to salad bar". Likewise, I believe , menus should have printed notification of this policy as well. I will return to Jason's but I am now better informed. read more

We've eaten at this Jason's for 20+ years. The food is consistently good, and the employees are considerate and helpful. There's a lot more turnover in the last two years, which means at times our pick-up order isn't correct. The Manager is helpful if we do have a problem, and even comped our meal one time. My favorite SALAD for sure is the Nutty Mix Salad w/ chicken which has mixed greens, grapes, apples, a cranberry nut mix, & balsamic vinaigrette..the flavors from this salad are an explosion of taste in your mouth of pure bliss!!!! The bbq baked potato that was ordered had clear liquid draining out of it and it was not eaten. I have had more inconsistencies in this restaurant than any other. Tiny "pieces" of sandwiches, OLD cold 3 day old potatoes, ruined salmon on the sandwich and 2 weeks ago the top of the tea spout came off and made a gyser all over the place. A worker was butted up to the salad bar eating off a plate and adding food to the plate. UGH--totally non sanitary. The manager is unapproachable. read more

Its 12pm, I ordered the chicken pot pie soup, they had just opened but the consistency of the soup was thick and a bit of the greens had already gone bad. It was over cooked, fresh soup is expected not day old overcooked soup with rotting veg , bread on top was good tea was great. Wow... I'm so disappointed. I've been going to this Jasons deli since 2010, since I moved to the neighborhood. I can honestly tell you, this place has been in a steady rate of decline for the last couple of years. This review is primarily focused on an individual by the name of Mike. I can normally look past things like lettuce sitting in an inch of water, green peas that are actually brown cucumbers that are practically translucent and wilted and their chocolate pudding that has an upper layer of dry crested pudding on top. (these are actual things I experienced at their salad bar) What I can't look behind is when I approach this gentleman named Mike who looks like he hasn't shaven in about 2 1/2 weeks has his hairy chest popping out of his shirt with an attitude to match. One of the new procedures is to wear gloves when you go to the salad bar. No problem, I actually appreciate that. What I have a problem with is when I approach Mike and say, "wouldn't be a good idea do you have gloves for the ice tea that people touch just as much if not more than they do the salad bar"? Mike replies with, "I just work here, that has nothing to do with me. I just do what I'm told" Understandable. And then he proceeds to tell me to put on my gloves for the salad bar which I haven't even walked up to serve myself yet. I looked at him and said I will as soon as I get ready to serve myself. He then proceeds to ask me why I have such an attitude about everything. Excuse me? First of all I didn't have an attitude, second you don't talk to customers that way... Ever. At the end of the day, we all have a choice. Because of this type of employee and steady decline of quality, I choose not to go back to this Jason's deli, ever. 1-star improvement because the last two time I have done over the phone or online orders I have not had to wait in line...but, they really need to have just a dedicated cashier or line for to-go orders and one for online pick up. Today I ordered my food over the phone on my way to Jason's Deli; Courtney, who answered the phone, was very nice, took the order quick and easy, and in the 8mins it took me to drive there, I walked in, paid, and walked out w/my order. That is how it should be done! I would have been annoyed if I had to wait behind someone placing a to-go order (like I did the last time) when my order was already placed and was just waiting to be picked up. I will say, this location is great at getting the additional requests for what not to add and what to add correct, which I can appreciate! Oh my goodness, the California Club sandwich was amazing! How good could a regular chain fast food club sandwich be, you might ask? Really good. For serious. Okay, it's possible I was hungry from a day of traveling by plane from Minnesota to Texas, but as a self professed foodie, this was a very good sandwich. First, I had never had a toasted croissant before. The crunchy, flaky, buttery bread in contrast to the soft mayo and guacamole, complimented all of the fresh ingredients. The entire sandwich was simply scrumptious. But what impressed me was the healthier options, particularly their steamed vegetables side. In attempt to remain somewhat healthy, I decided to go with the cup of steamed veggies, expecting the worst, and it was actually quite good! Very fresh tasting and not mushy at all. We ordered lunch from Jason's Deli for the office. What's great is that you can send a group order request to a list of email addresses. An email is sent to each person to add an order to a group order and it's all taken care of. I was impressed with the online ordering system. I ordered the Cuban Press, which was very tasty. It's pork, ham, swiss cheese, and pickes between a roll with mustard spread. I could taste every single individual ingredient, all of which worked really well together. I really enjoyed the flavor that was added by the mustard. Not only was I impressed with the ordering system, but I was impressed with how the individual orders were labeled for each person. My order came with a slice of pickle, baked potato chips, and a peppermint candy. If I was ordering lunch in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to order from Jason's Deli again. read more
