Loved this place with great sandwiches and welcoming staff with a warm vibe. I ordered their Bahn Mi sandwich which was amazing. The pork was flavored well. Also appreciate how they have watermelon as a side!
First of all this place was so cute when you walk in you just smell the freshness of the food and the chocolate that they were making. I was visiting my son in Austin, Texas and he loves his place, we just came in for lunch and then I was going to the airport. He had his wisdom teeth pulled. He thought this would be the perfect place before I go to the airport. We met the most wonderful ladies who were so kind and helpful to give us suggestions for lunch. He got the grilled cheese, and soup combination and I got the chicken sandwich with crunchy chips and a side of potato salad. That was absolutely delicious. The sandwich is so big I brought half on the plane, it was on top of a pretzel roll that had great flavor to it.. I definitely will go back the next time I visit in Austin, Texas I love healthy food and next time I'm gonna get one of their salads that I walked by and that looked absolutely incredible. What a great place to go in very charming and eclectic on the inside..
I've always been a consistent fan of Local Foods ever since they opened up in downtown and a couple years later, I still come to this establishment whenever I'm craving a healthy, delicious sandwich! My go-to menu item to this day is still their Crunchy Chicken Sandwich, which comes with oven roasted chicken on top of a pretzel bun (which adds a unique and refreshing texture to the sandwich!). What makes the sandwich "crunchy" is the fact that they layer crushed homemade chips into the sandwich, giving you that subtle crunch that you might be craving in a typical fried chicken sandwich. There is plenty of dining space inside if you end up eating here (there's a mini outdoor dining area along with a second floor inside), and they validate parking as well! I'd refer to their website for the two parking garages that they partner with (one is directly attached to the building) because depending on the time of day, you may need to park in one garage over the other if you want the parking validation.
This was my spot when I first moved by downtown. Chicken crunch Sando on a pretzel bun is elite. And their pickle spears are so crunchy, not soggy at all. The potato salad side wasn't my fav, I usually just ask for double pickles instead. Vibes are always good in here, ton of windows by each seating area so perfect for doing some remote work and getting a little sunshine or people watching lol. I like that I can just order at the window and camp in a section and refill my own water, etc

Went on the weekend during brunch. It was very busy but the line went quick. We ordered and were able to find a table easily. On a sunny day it's perfect to sit outside or by the window. Food came fast and the presentation was impeccable. My sandwich was so good. It's good to get if you're hungry. It's a large portion. I will be back.
On 15 Jan 2026, I ate lunch at Local Foods. This restaurant serves local fresh food options as well as a variety of cold teas and mixed juices. I had a scrumptious sandwich and kale salad. The place is different! I picked up on a cafeteria vibe, but then there's a patio and upstairs area with lots of beautiful plants. I sat behind the manager while he was quizzing an employee. Many of the things he said the service reps are supposed to do didn't happen for me during my visit such as offering alternatives and up selling. The person who took my order didn't do either. At any rate, I really liked the farm-to-table concept and the freshness of the food I purchased.
Just one more update that the garden Sammie as a salad with tofu added is perfection. It's so filling and flavorful!! All vegan and I crave it. Truly don't think anything you order here is a bad choice but this may be my new go to!
Stopped by twice on our long weekend visit to Austin! We went on a long walk and craved something cold and refreshing. We saw the side window for Local Foods and ordered the matcha lemonade and iced matcha. Both were delicious but the lemonade stole the show! We came back the following day for more.
Tons of options to choose from here, hard to pick what I wanted. Ended up with an egg truffle salad sandwich. The kale salad is phenomenal! Overall such a great bite! Parking in the garage in the back is easy!

The ginger chicken lemongrass soup is light but cozy, with great depth and just the right amount of warmth. Perfect spot for a casual, solid meal that always hits.

I've been to local foods twice and both times the food is fresh, the atmosphere is clean with good vibes, and I leave with a happy belly to wrap it up. The first time I came the line for lunch was long and took a little while to get our food about 30mins. This second time I came in we were able to walk right in and order our food! The cashier was friendly and quick. For my vegetarians this place has food that is healthy, vegetables heavy AND DOESN'T lack flavor. Another cool thing about the restaurant is that the menu rotates due to the utilization of local grown foods in the area. read more
Ok let me tell ya I am a local goods STAN. Only dropped a star because I can't whole heartedly stand behind all the items on the menu.. I was disappointed with the chicken Caesar wrap which all of the food influencers have been pushing. The crunchy chicken sandwich is forever that GIRL tho. read more

My husband and I stopped by for lunch today. I ordered the crunchy chicken sandwich the side of tomato bisque soup. My husband ordered the po-boy sandwich also with the soup. The sandwiches were both cold extremely cold: the vegetables and the meat it was really unappetizing. The shrimp in the only wasn't fried which was atypical for a po-boy. The soup however was probably the highlight of the meal. However for the price of $40 for two mediocre and cold (at that's being kind) sandwiches, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

A cute, local spot in the heart of downtown serving up healthy eats, great sandwiches, bowls, brunch, and more. Order at the counter then find a seat and they'll bring your order out to you. Casual, fast service but a cute spot to dine-in for brunch or lunch. Menu has a ton of variety and can accommodate different dietary needs. A bit pricy but portions are generous and everything is fresh and delicious! For 2 sandwiches with 2 sides each, plus tax and tip, I spent almost $50. Pretty steep, but the sandwiches are loaded and quite tasty. For the sides, I picked the strawberries, pickles, chips, and red potato salad. The best side was the potato salad. The pickles weren't pickled enough for my taste, the chips weren't fresh/as crisp, and the strawberries were a little soggy. Overall, I enjoyed the food despite the higher price tag. I'd revisit if downtown and wanting something fresh. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Several paid garages or street parking in the area. - Reservations? No, not needed. - To go? LOVE this local foods. Their soups are so comforting. So many healthy options here. Love the truffle egg salad sandwich with aioli on a pretzel bun (drooling thinking about it rn tbh!). I also appreciate that they can turn their signature sandwiches into salads. I've been here many times - service is always fast and thoughtful. There is a cozy private back area with booths for small parties and an upstairs seating area for larger groups. This time around I tried the Asian chicken salad and it was delicious (especially the unique sweet potatoes noodles!)...also nice that it's open for lunch unlike many other downtown restaurants that open in the evenings. read more
This place is very Austin! Trendy, healthy, expensive and hard to park lol. Glad I stopped in with my family for lunch though. I got the chicken pozole and crunchy chicken sandwich and it was a fine lunch but nothing to rave over. It's casual inside and a good spot for a work lunch. read more

A restaurant worth visiting amid your shopping afternoon on 2nd street! My group came on a Friday night around 6 and were promptly seated. They have 90min to 2 hour validation depending on when you get there which is amazing for downtown! My group walked here, but good to know in the future. I got the Garden Sammie with escabeche and potato salad side. The sammie was delicious--a combination of sour from the ingredients, savory, and crunchy! I am a huge fam of a sour-ish flavor profile, so it was a hit for me. I had never tried a escabeche before, but it is pickled vegetables. This was refreshing! However I think I ordered too much sour foods since my mouth felt a bit numb after eating this and the sammie together. The potato salad was delicious! I love how they incorporated red potatoes with the skin still on it, which added a nice pop of color. It was creamy and a generous portion. Overall a terrific place to go to, especially if you are hoping for a healthier hearty meal. I saw they had a coffee window outside too, which I plan to drop by next. read more

Make way for- dare I say- the best sandwich in Austin!! The crunchy chicken sandwich (and the truffle egg sandwich tbh) is one of the best sandwiches I've ever experienced. The soft pretzel bun plus the perfectly crisp veggies and juicy chicken is the perfect combo. Plus, the restaurant itself is super cute, adorned with playful colors, artworks, and plants. You order at the counter in true deli-style and the food is brought right to your table! A perfect weekend lunch if you're downtown, and the takeout window is perfect if you're grabbing on the go. read more
I came out to Local Foods with my sister for lunch a few weekends ago, and was happy to see such a variety of vegetarian and vegan healthy meal options. The weather was not super cold, so we were able to sit out on the patio to enjoy our meals. I had a sore throat that day, so I got some hot hibiscus tea as my beverage to pair with my taco salad, which came with kale (TONS of it), romaine, vegan housemade taco meat, avocado, tomato, kidney bean, pickled onion, jicama, pumpkin seed, grilled corn, El Milagro corn tortilla bowl, and lemon vinaigrette. The salad was HUGE and I definitely left plenty of kale behind, even though the portion I did have was filling! I appreciated the crispy corn tortilla bowl, but it definitely felt like I was eating two separate dishes, as it didn't feel like the vegan taco meat and corn tortilla bowl were really mixed in with all the other salad contents. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to my next visit to try some other items---there seems to be a vegan ramen bowl on the seasonal menu, and I'm looking forward to trying it out! read more
Great spot in the downtown area with delicious food! Came here on a Saturday for brunch around 11 am. The decor/general environment inside is charming and there's plenty of seating. Would recommend checking out the upper level if you'd like a more private setting! It wasn't too busy yet when we dropped by, so service was pretty quick. Another plus is that Local Foods provides 90 min of validated parking at the City Hall Parking Garage (anytime, any day) OR 2hr validation at the 2nd St AMLI garage (M-F ONLY, 8 am - 5 pm). We parked at the City Hall garage since it was a Saturday. Given that parking is notoriously difficult downtown, this was helpful - just keep the time limit in mind. Lil' Nasty Breakfast Sandwich ($13.50, 5/5) - Very delicious and satisfying! Definitely hit the spot for brunch. - Combination of eggs, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, roasted poblano & house sambal paired well with the potatoes, which were very flavorful. Overall would definitely come back! Food is reasonably priced, has great flavor, and will certainly fill you up. Worth checking out if you're in the downtown area for brunch! read more

This was a great downtown spot! I got a fantastic crunchy chicken sandwich, cup of soup, and a coffee. It felt a bit expensive given it was brunch/lunch for me but it was yummy! The staff was super nice to help me with some menu questions and point me in the right direction for some things. They actually felt like they wanted me to have a good day, which isn't entirely common in Austin. The decor is SUPER cute. I love local foods. The salads and sandwiches are excellent. They are a bit pricier of an option for lunch in dt austin but the food is really healthy and makes you feel good after eating it. My go tos are the garden veggie sandwich and the chopped green salad. The ambiance is nice and we've done coworkers lunches there. There's ample seating upstairs and downstairs. AMAZING Breakfast find! walk in order at the counter, take a number and the fantastic servers bring you your order. definitely heavy on the Vegetarian/Vegan menu but they have substitutions for those who are seeking more of a carnivorous meal. The Hangover Potatoes were outstanding, the Tacoquiles were amazing, I added beef barbacoa. the Lemons, Blueberries & Brioche French Toast was great, suggest you order the half order and get more food items. Lil Nasty Breakfast Sandwich was amazing and they serve it with the Hangover potatoes! also have to give kudos to the manager who was able to get me a band aid for my blister on my sandal. great service fantastic ambiance. definitely will be back next time we are in Austin. read more

First time visit for me. I stopped by for lunch with a colleague, who recommended this place. This spot is a local favorite, and is usually busy around lunchtime but surprisingly, we were served promptly. I ordered the Avocado BLT with a side of chips and fruit, paired with a lemonade. Everything was delicious! The ambiance is airy, well-lit, with plenty of seating, and additional seats outdoors and upstairs. Overall, solid experience and I would certainly come back. It's worth the trip if you're visiting or new in town. read more

It's in the shopping center to the left of where Hat Creek is. There is a free parking garage and when you come out, you walk up 2 steps and it's on the right.
