My fiancé and I ordered a chicken biscuit with the peppered honey sauce and biscuit and gravy with chicken sausage. It was so good! It was filling. It was a good size. I was able to eat some that morning and finish the rest for lunch. The service was great. One of the staff members came out to check on us and ensure that we had everything we needed. Everything was great. We sat outside and enjoyed the breeze. It was a great experience!

Bird Bird is still on point at their latest location next to Loro off South Lamar. Ordered the Queen Beak with sauce on the side. The biscuits by themselves are solid, but once you add fried chicken and hot honey, it becomes out of this world!

I discovered Bird Bird Biscuit during the pandemic and still love it here. I'm excited to see this local business grow from one to two and now three locations! I'm especially appreciative that it's down south closer to me. The owner himself gave me the pick up order my family placed. I know of him from his posts on instagram. Now on to what you came here for, the food! I have tried several of their delicious fried chicken and homemade biscuit sandwiches. My go to faithful is the Queen Beak with the chipotle mayo on the side. There is a reason they place napkins and wet wipes on the picnic tables because you will have sticky fingers. Not that I mind, I actually wish there was an option for extra spiced honey on my sandwich. This finger licking delicacy should be on regular rotation for your breakfast!

Ordered for pick up and had no problem parking. The bird bird bacon sandwich was a perfect combination. Biscuit was wonderful, buttery and flaky. Bacon was nice and crispy. Loved the sauce. Apricot sweet tea was refreshing, not too sweet.

The best chicken sandwich I've ever had! And I guess this location is new(?). The owner bought my lunch! Fabulous staff.

The firebird & Theodore without bbq sauce!! Dough doughs on the side w/ strawberry lemonade & apricot sweet tea!! Everything was delicious!

New location on south Lamar is awesome with patio under the trees! Food was delicious and the staff were super nice!

But the staff handled it really well. They were fast, apologetic, and refreshingly colloquial, not stiff or robotic, just real people taking care of customers and keeping things moving. Since fried chicken was off the table, I went with the grilled chicken, and honestly it was excellent. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and flavorful enough that it did not feel like a consolation prize. Maybe this was the universe giving my cholesterol a temporary reprieve. The collards were just okay and not the strongest part of the meal, but everything else made up for it. The restaurant itself was super clean, and you could tell this newer location is well cared for. At about two years old, it still felt sharp, polished, and well run. I've been to several Hattie B's locations over the years, including the original in Nashville, Franklin, and Atlanta, where I once saw a woman riding a horse down the street in front of the store, which remains one of the more unforgettable restaurant-adjacent moments of my life. Austin compared well with all of them. Bonus points, there was no line, so we had a quick lunch with coworkers and still made it to the airport early. Not the exact Hattie B's experience we expected, but still a very good one, and a place I'd absolutely come back to.

Spicy Boys has four locations in the Austin area, with probably their most popular at Zilker Brewing. They are a spicy chicken establishment and their spicy chicken comes in different shapes and sizes from bone-in fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, and nuggets. I have only ever ordered their fried chicken sandwich and every time, I have been a fan. I always get their middle option in heat, the Hot Gai, which is sandwiched between the OG and the Tingly Gai. It hits every time. The mayonnaise, the pickles, the perfectly crisp chicken: you can't miss it. As a side, I ALWAYS without fail get their Tater Tots. They are consistently crispy while remaining soft on the inside. Sometimes I will get it seasoned with their Tingly Sichuan, but the heat is sometimes too much. I cannot recommend the tots enough. Spicy Boys is one of those places that is always there for you. They are consistently open and the people making the orders are putting a ton of dedication into making them smack every time. The sandwich alone comes at $9.50 with the tots at $3.50, which seems on par or slightly lower than a typical food truck if my memory serves me right. I recommend giving them a shot whether you are at Spokesman in Pflugerville, St. Elmo Brewing, or Zilker off 6th Street. It's in the upper echelon of food trucks. RIYL: peak chicken sammys

Finally I stopped by with a friend after a long bike ride and we took home a whole chicken to split. Um. Everything was DELICIOUS! The whole chicken came with soft corn tortillas, salsas, and a side each of beans and rice. An grilled/roasted (aka slightly charred) onion was wrapped up in parchment with the chicken, absorbing yummy chicken flavors that was pulled apart for tacos. Everything was flavorful and the beans were studded with bacon chunks in it. Yes, it was that good! The chicken was really flavorful. Very savory and perfectly charred. . It's mesquite grilled chicken but I don't think I've had anything like it.. Unlike typical American barbecue, this wasn't sweet at all. Some of the white meat pieces were a bit dry, so I ate them with the beans and all was well.

He looked at me and rolled his eyes and walked past us multiple times. As someone who works in this service industry that behavior is definitely unacceptable. Every server should be willing to help their customers, even if they are a trainee or not in their section (but in this instance, I was in his section) Some improvements might be having a host during busy nights like Thursday through Saturday. Today, with a BOGO coupon in hand, I did. It's a counter-order fast-food type setup, but I thought it strange that the big menu board didn't mention prices. I had to search around to find that info, in a battered 8x10 frame on the wall. Hmm. $13 for a meal of 3 tenders and fries, with no drink or biscuit included? Seemed a bit much. I got mine to go, and asked for one order of original and one of spicy tenders, but at home, neither of us could tell the difference, so I guess they didn't give me spicy. The tenders varied in size from big to skimpy, but were fresh and tasty--though I would have liked to try the spicy type. The fries were also good, a nice medium cut, in between the dreaded shoestring and chunky steak fry. The sauces we got were good, but if you use a lot, looks like they charge "Just 99 cents!" for an extra tablespoonful. With my BOGO, the price seemed about right. But at their posted price point, (which seems designed to go up at a moment's notice) I'm much more likely to spend that much for table service and excellent chicken a few blocks further north on Burnet--or half that for Cane's or Popeyes, if I want to order at a counter and eat out of a box.
