We were immensely impressed with the atmosphere, decor, and service. The dishes were absolutely spectacular in presentation, flavor, and value. Each aspect of the four plates was immaculate. We got the chance to taste the fresno honey whipped goat cheese with almond flour tortilla chips. The slight spice balancing with the sweet honey truly seemed to be a match made in the most plentiful garden anyone could ever witness. My parents got the grass-fed burger and the original fish tacos, while I got the farmhouse breakfast with brioche french toast. The french toast was cooked perfectly; a thick slice with honey butter and the best syrup from any restaurant I have ever had was served. The smashed potatoes in the breakfast were a special treat indeed. Imagine singular potatoes having the mashed potatoes inside. They were crispy and paired wonderful with the sauce. As for the tacos, they are certainly some of the best in the entire world. The burger was worth it on so many levels. It has the classic meat, cheese, sauce, and pickles, but don't be fooled. It on its own deserves five stars. We were amazed without a doubt and would gladly return to Picnik. read more

I have been following Picnik for YEARS. Online. I was so happy to be able to make the drive on a recent work trip to finally to it out. First of all, I wanted to try everything. To find a restaurant that is gluten free and doesn't use rancid oils to cook food in is an absolute joy. Let me just say, this was everything I've been hoping for the past 12'ish years! The hostess was nice and seated me right away. I was near the pass so I go to see all of the yummy food as it came out. I opted for the Picnik Palmer and the chicken sandwich. I was so happy to see a GF fried chicken sandwich! The bun was great.... It didn't fall apart as so many GF buns do. The smashed potatoes were tasty. The Palmer was refreshing. My server was great. He explained that it was the first day for the new menu and he may not know it all yet. No problem. The restaurant itself was bright and airy. Very chill. I really wanted to love this place--and in many ways, I did. As a restaurant that is 100% gluten free, the menu was honestly a dream. There were so many options, from gluten-free French toast to burgers, and as someone on a strict medical diet, I was genuinely thrilled to be able to order freely without stress. Even the little details impressed me, like their house-made, sugar-free ketchup. I ordered the hot honey fried chicken sandwich, which was also dairy free, and my mom ordered a burger. Flavor-wise, everything else on the plate worked, but unfortunately we were both disappointed in the bread. It just didn't hold up well and took away from what could have been a really great sandwich experience for both of us. There was no sauce on the burger, which left it tasting pretty bland. For the price, I expected a bit more in terms of flavor and portion size. The crispy sprouts came out super late where the manager was kind to comp it, but the portion was tiny. I think the side size is bigger. The other entrees were alright, nothing to brag home about. Met some friends for breakfast here this past Saturday for one of their birthdays. We made a res but it wasn't that crowded when we got there so we were fortunate to get a convenient parking spot. Since I'm going through some health issues right now, I've been looking for healthier restaurant options. When I saw this place on the My Health Forward website, I knew I had to try it. They're gluten-free and don't cook with seed oils, which is a big plus for me. The brussel sprouts were also so good I didn't even get a picture before they were gone! I unfortunately had a piece of plastic in my food, but they were amazing and super nice about it. I have been wanting to stop by here for awhile. So today, while out walking I stopped by for breakfast. Upon entering I could see it was modern in the dining area, with the kitchen in view, depending on your seat. There are both indoor and outdoor seating. There are no booths, but low and high tables. There are pictures if food hung on the walls throughout the restaurant. Our server, Syreeta came to our table shortly after we were seated. She explained that Picnik dishes are made at the restaurant. She provided us menus and explained any questions we had. She also asked if we had any food allergies. She then gave us a few minutes to decide on what to order. The food was gluten, peanut and refined sugar free. I ordered the Farmhouse Breakfast. My eggs were over medium, with sugar free crisp bacon, potatoes, and toast. The food was delicious overall, perhaps a little salty for my taste but not too bad. So if you don't like salty, them perhaps ask them to hold it and you put it on yourself. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the meal. To note: I tried coming here before, but I didn't have reservations and it was full. This time I was early and didn't need to have them. The food we got was OK, the best part was the side of potatoes. Service was quick and friendly which I really appreciated. To Drink: My friend ordered a bone broth drink which is really more like a soup. I had a few sips and it was delicious. The restaurant is on the smaller side and can get packed during brunch. They do offer outside seating that is more suitable for groups (in my opinion). What I Get: - French Toast: For this to be gluten-free, and free of the long list of other "no-no's" I love it! It's soft and sweet, which is important to me in a french toast. I also like the slight texture that the seeds on the crust add. They give you a lot of pieces so this can definitely be split. - The Cobb: I really like this salad! They don't skimp on the toppings they add and I can never finish it. - Crispy Chicken Thighs: These were okay to me. I personally would've liked a crispier and more seasoned chicken. This is still a filling meal. You get at least two (I can't remember the exact number) chicken thighs as well as quinoa. read more

Ever since I saw "We Love Paleo" documentary on Netflix, I was intrigued by Naomi's story and have put Picnik on my list of places to eat while in Austin. I happened to have had the opportunity to visit this great city this past weekend, and you bet ya I had brunch at Picnik! I got a big steaming hot cup of their famous butter cappuccino add CBD (when in Rome). It was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed the benedict with scratch made biscuits, gluten free of course. Came on a Friday evening for dinner with my husband. The place was packed and ended up sitting outside. Parking is a little tight, but there are spots behind the restaurant and in front of Pinthouse. I was excited to try this new spot, since i'm a huge fan of healthy eats. We ordered the brussel sprouts, hot chicken sandwich and special tacos. Service was incredibly slow. It took 20 min for us to receive our brussel sprouts, and I was surprised by the small size. Our main dishes came about 10 minutes after. The food was covered in oil. I think for the portion size, price is not worth it in my option. This may be a better place for brunch! read more

While the ambiance is great, the food and drinks are overpriced, and the drinks need an overhaul in recipe design or barista training... I visited with my sister for lunch, and got a hot matcha to start and a benedict dish that they were able to prepare without bacon, which was nice on their part. My matcha however was very watery and not sweet at all. My sister could barely sip from her cold brew, commenting that she'd have to take it home to "fix it up herself". The food was also on the pricey side, for brunch items you could easily find at cheaper brunch places around town that also don't skimp on quality. The first time we tried to get in to eat at Picnik, it was impossible. We didn't have a reservation, and the wait was too long. This time I did it right, I made a reservation, walked in and was seated by Cora who was our outstanding server. I had this amazing mint ginger lemonade, two of them in fact because they are so delicious. I had the breakfast taco plate which was delectable, but the star of the brunch was the brussel sprouts, really out of this world. My brother had some deliciousness with a side of unforgettable potatoes that I couldn't stay away from. The location is excellent with ample parking in the back, the place is clean with modern decor, a touch scandanvian feel. There is a small covered patio with some seating. The food used to be much better, but the service is the main issue. What happened to customer service?? It seems nonexistent these days and yesterday was one prime example. I ordered $58 worth of food and a glass of wine. I ordered the food to go and the wine while I waited. The staff seemed very confused about this for some reason and I was immediately made to feel like I had done something wrong by placing this order. After about 10+ minutes I went to the counter to inquire about the wine glass I had not received and was met with a very rude response as though I was being absolutely ridiculous to assume I would ever receive this wine glass at all. The guy was so condescending and rude to me saying "this is not how we do things, we don't normally give you wine while you wait" I was so confused by his response and taken back by his rudeness - again I have paid you for this beverage, I am not asking for much other than what I paid for- and it is NOT difficult for you to have someone pour me the wine without giving me attitude- I was not impatient or rude back. I did ask him at this point "why are you being like this to me, why is this bothering you so much!?" To which he was again just repeating "this is just not how things are done" and I walked away. He could have said "oh let me check on your wine" and gotten it for me- and that would have been fine. Instead he chose to take out his bad day on me- a paying customer who had previously tipped him $10. I spoke with the manager but I knew nothing was going to happen. I wasn't asking for any $$ back but later on wished I had requested at least the tip back. She should have comped my meal without me having to ask. This was such a bad experience. Today I looked back at the receipt and after consuming the food couldn't not post this bad review they deserved. The food was sub par- dry biscuits, dry chicken and they also include a 5% service charge!! For to-go orders..? Wow. Pay your employees better so they are nicer to your customers. Instead of having your customers pay for their healthcare while they clearly need more emotional support. $68 for bad food and bad service. As someone with celiac disease, I was so looking forward to having a yummy gf meal here.. The first red flag: we walked in, and weren't greeted by anyone that was up at the front, completely failing to acknowledge us. We were unsure of where to order for sitting in versus to go ordering, and neither host was helpful. In terms of table service, I give them some grace because it was during lunch and was quite busy. However, we timed how long it took us just to get glasses of water- 15 minutes. The food: Nothing disappointed me more than the food. I ordered a chicken sandwich, in which there was minimal flavor all around. Presentation wise- looked great. This was meant to be a hot honey sandwich, but the hot honey was not in the room with us. The side I got was crispy Brussels sprouts, which weren't crispy, they were literally charred. Let alone it only had a couple sprouts; the rest were just burnt charred scraps. my partner ordered a cheese burger, that had absolutely no flavor, it was so dense and greasy. Nothing close to what a $20 burger should be. The side of sweet potatoes were soggy, lacked flavor, and weren't even warm. It seemed as if they were just tossed on the plate from the fridge. For the prices that picnik has, you'd hope for high quality, good tasting food. We will not be returning. read more

A fully GF, seed oil free restaurant is my bread and butter. Picnik is always reliable and consistent. I've only come for brunch once but the french toast was pretty good, maybe a tad dry but nothing some syrup can't cure. My lunch/dinner favorite is the Chicken Katsu sandwich. I do hope this will make a comeback! My most recent dinner I had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. They nailed the texture but it wasn't very hot! I should've asked for more sauce, but I expected my mouth to be on fire :/ The service is always great here, getting a table isn't a problem but I feel like they could do more to change up the flavors/menu to draw more people in. It was my first time at Picnik came with a friend for lunch. The place inside is very cute, simple and clean. Our waiter was super friendly and gave suggestions as my friend asked what he recommended. I got the Hibiscus-Mint cooler and it was really tasty and refreshing. For food I got the Taco Bowl added chicken. I don't know if I was expecting grilled chicken but the crispy chicken was full of flavor and crisp! I loved it!
