    Breakfast Taco Plate
    Alexia M.

I really wanted to love this place--and in many ways, I did. As a restaurant that is 100% gluten free, the menu was honestly a dream. There were so many options, from gluten-free French toast to burgers, and as someone on a strict medical diet, I was genuinely thrilled to be able to order freely without stress. Even the little details impressed me, like their house-made, sugar-free ketchup. I ordered the hot honey fried chicken sandwich, which was also dairy free, and my mom ordered a burger. Flavor-wise, everything else on the plate worked, but unfortunately we were both disappointed in the bread. It just didn't hold up well and took away from what could have been a really great sandwich experience for both of us. That said, the smash potatoes were excellent--crispy, flavorful, and definitely a highlight of the meal. Overall, I truly appreciate what this restaurant is doing for the gluten-free community, and the variety alone makes it worth visiting. With a little improvement to the bread, this place could easily be a standout for people with dietary restrictions.

Awesome brunch spot especially if you are gluten free. Loved the farmhouse breakfast with a side of a pancake. Very filling and clean. Would come again!

Picnik is a great safe eating spot for anyone gluten free! Plus the service is wonderful! I would absolutely come back here again when hungrier to order more. The mocktails and non-A drinks are awesome! I have no complaints about the food. It's simple and clean and that is exactly what we were in the mood for during a shopping day.

I was excited to try Picnik because of its intriguing claims--gluten-free, seed oil-free, and refined sugar-free. Grass-Fed Burger, expecting something great, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The bun was brittle and crumbled in my mouth, making it hard to enjoy. There was no sauce on the burger, which left it tasting pretty bland. For the price, I expected a bit more in terms of flavor and portion size. I got a side of Brussels sprouts with my burger, and while they were tasty, they were also pretty oily. Overall, the meal was filling, but I couldn't help but wish I had ordered something else--my friend got a salad, and surprisingly, it tasted way better than my burger! Crazy, right? Picnik has a cool concept, but for the price, I was hoping for a more satisfying meal.

THE BIG: Located in the Rosedale neighborhood of Central Austin. Right next to the Pinthouse Pizza. Long, beautifully decorated interior with outdoor eating space. Limited parking up front and parking lot in the back. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here on a date night and the entire shopping center was packed. Fortunately we were able to snag a parking spot and get ourselves on the wait list. It was 7pm when we came in and was pretty crowded. When we sat down and ate, it was around 8pm and the place was dead. We ordered the crispy brussel sprouts as an app and then the hot chicken sandwich and steak tacos. The crispy sprouts came out super late where the manager was kind to comp it, but the portion was tiny. I think the side size is bigger. The other entrees were alright, nothing to brag home about. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done for an app and two entrees came out to be around $40. Service was quite slow and the portions didn't justify the long wait times.

Brought my pups out for lunch and sat on their covered back patio. They also have some outdoor seating at the front. Service was great. The food here is soooo yummy! My hot chicken sandwich had bread that tasted like a biscuit yet was like a sesame bun. The cucumber salad was a great compliment. Had an iced pumpkin coffee that was super tasty, just a bit heavy on the spice so it was kind of hard to drink without coughing. Beer came in a can which was a bummer for me. Would definitely come back!

Met some friends for breakfast here this past Saturday for one of their birthdays. We made a res but it wasn't that crowded when we got there so we were fortunate to get a convenient parking spot. It started filling up when we were leaving mid morn. We all ordered their Harvest Hash with some mods like dressing on the side. My friends got coffees with less or no syrup/sweet added and a yummy looking biscuit I wish I could have tried but I'm watching carbs and dairy. Our waitress was very helpful and informative. I've been to this restaurant before but it had been some time so it was good to be reminded of it as a good brunch/breakfast option.

The staff was super duper friendly, and accommodating to my groups dietary restrictions, the entire menu is gluten free which is amazing and you can't even tell when eating it! I got the eggs Benedict and it was so delicious. I also got the butter latte with vanilla and it was just what I needed the morning after a night out. We were sat out on the patio and it was a gorgeous day that really was the cherry on the cake for the whole dining experience.

Amazing lunch. I got the crispy chicken salad and it was fantastic. A friend recommended the place and after scoping it out on Yelp I pulled the trigger. The coffee was very good as well and the staff was super friendly and attentive.

Since I'm going through some health issues right now, I've been looking for healthier restaurant options. When I saw this place on the My Health Forward website, I knew I had to try it. They're gluten-free and don't cook with seed oils, which is a big plus for me. I have to say, this is one of the few places I've eaten where I didn't feel heavy or bloated afterward--I just felt satisfied. I ordered the Farmhouse Breakfast, and it was hearty! I substituted the bacon with their chicken and the toast with their biscuit. Everything in the meal was delicious, but the smashed potatoes absolutely blew my mind. I definitely need to try their loaded smashed potatoes next time because if the plain ones were that good, I can only imagine how amazing the loaded ones will be! My husband got the Hot Chicken Breakfast Sandwich, and he really enjoyed it. We also tried the blueberry pancakes, which were okay--a little on the bland side. I didn't try the elixirs this time around, but I definitely plan to next time. I loved how light and satisfying this place was overall. Service was great and so was ambience.

Amazing food! Everything here is gluten free but you would never guess! We got the biscuit appetizer and the butter and jam with it was amazing, 10/10! The brussel sprouts were also so good I didn't even get a picture before they were gone! I unfortunately had a piece of plastic in my food, but they were amazing and super nice about it. They remade my dish and then comped our entire table for our meals and gave us free brownies! Accidents happen and we all really appreciated the lengths they went to ensure we still had an enjoyable time! Thank you to the team over there! Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Austin!

I have been wanting to stop by here for awhile. So today, while out walking I stopped by for breakfast. Upon entering I could see it was modern in the dining area, with the kitchen in view, depending on your seat. There are both indoor and outdoor seating. There are no booths, but low and high tables. There are pictures if food hung on the walls throughout the restaurant. Our server, Syreeta came to our table shortly after we were seated. She explained that Picnik dishes are made at the restaurant. She provided us menus and explained any questions we had. She also asked if we had any food allergies. She then gave us a few minutes to decide on what to order. The food was gluten, peanut and refined sugar free. I ordered the Farmhouse Breakfast. My eggs were over medium, with sugar free crisp bacon, potatoes, and toast. The food was delicious overall, perhaps a little salty for my taste but not too bad. So if you don't like salty, them perhaps ask them to hold it and you put it on yourself. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the meal. To note: I tried coming here before, but I didn't have reservations and it was full. This time I was early and didn't need to have them. Thank you Picnik for having healthier options to eat!

Going to be so honest... I will not be coming here again. It's a cute restaurant with lots of seating but very overpriced with a unique "interesting" menu. The food we got was OK, the best part was the side of potatoes. The service also wasn't great, our server never came to the table to check up on us, didn't explain the menu very well and just seemed uninterested in being there. I came for brunch so it might be different for dinner.... But there was also very little parking and the restaurant was loud.

I'm looking to get catering for a baby shower for 12 people on Feb 12 in Austin. We're looking for healthy finger foods. Could you message me cost and potential menu? Thanks for your help.?

Are there brunch specials, ie mimosas?

I have been there for Sunday brunch and they had drink specials, but they were specialty drinks that day, not mimosas. I had a ginger berry concoction and it was good.

Are there any low carb/keto friendly options available?

I was on keto and for brunch the answer is a firm no unless you ask for breakfast tacos without tortilla. For dinner, you have options: all salads, chicken tenders, brussel sprouts appetizer, loaded guac appetizer, chicken thigh entre and tumeric… Read more

Atmosphere: Sleek, dim, and a little upscale, but not in a stiff way. It still feels very Austin--nice enough for a date night or celebration, but relaxed enough that you don't feel like you need to whisper the whole meal. My personal favorite is the sushi bar since you can interact with the actual server. Food: Really strong across the board. Uchiko does that modern Japanese thing where the dishes are small, clean, and layered without feeling like they're trying too hard. The menu changes, so every visit feels a little different. The big thing I appreciated is that every bite felt intentional. Nothing was just "fish on rice." The hama chili is one of those dishes people bring up for a reason, its the one thing I can recommend for first timers. My personal favorite thing though is their "Somakase" (combination of server and omakase), where you just let the server know your budget options and they'll customize suggestions. This is one of those places where there's no wrong choices per se but that depends on what you are in the mood for, such as something more fishy or something more unique. Service: Very polished, but not robotic. Again to harp on the "Somakase" experience, it's nice to be able to interact with your server and see how things are made and based on what you're looking for. All times I've gone service has been top notch with that high quality of catering to the guests needs. Wrap-up: Uchiko is expensive, but it feels like one of those meals where the price makes sense once you're actually eating it. Great service, thoughtful dishes, and enough creativity to make the night feel special without getting weird. Easy 5 stars for me and definitely one of the better upscale sushi experiences in Austin.

Upon recommendation from a local--who said Uchiko has the best sushi in Texas, we made a 4pm reservation for the Happy Hour Omakase. It did not disappoint. The decor was interesting and a little eclectic, but also classy and inviting and warm. The staff were friendly and eager to serve. The food was excellent: all of it. But it's worth noting that some of the items were my favorites ever. Here are the things I loved the best: 1) The dirtiest martini was just so good. I don't see it on the online menu, but I'm pretty sure that's what it was called. I don't even remember what was in it other than extra olive brine, but I was surprised every time I took a sip by a flavor complexity that was unexpected. 2) The handroll, which I believe had maguro, and I know had asian pear and basil. The explosion of flavor was insane. This may be my favorite thing ever. 3) The french fries that were served with the blackened Wagyu steak. The Wagyu steak was truly excellent. The french fries, which I believe were fried in beef tallow and well seasoned and crispy, were the best I've ever eaten--by far the best I've ever eaten. I didn't think I could like french fries this much. This was a wonderful first experience of omakase and I'm so glad we splurged!

The bread was approximately 1/6 of the length of a regular baguette for $6 and a bit of unsalted butter. We split the bread in half and after eating a piece, immediately, it tasted gummy and very sour the inside part of the bread. I double checked if the sourness came from the butter, but the butter was fine. The sourness came from the center of the bread. I informed the server that the center was sour/gummy and felt undercooked. They took my piece and returned it to the kitchen and gave us a new piece of bread. But that bread had the same issue. Gummy and sour in the center. I had to peel away that part and just eat the outer parts. For the scallops, unfortunately the sauce did not meet expectations. You could tell the scallops were of high quality, but the sauce was too salty and too acid. What a disappointment. The entrées were fine. The halibut was good, maybe a bit dry, but the sauce saved it. The Wagyu bavette was initially a tad too salty, but then as I kept eating it tasted fine. But I realized I just slowly got used to the saltiness of the meal. This meal ended up being way too salty because I had to drink a huge amount of water and felt dehydrated after this meal (I didn't consume any alcohol!) I did give the feedback about the bread and scallops to the server, he stated that he will share it to the chef. Hopefully they can improve. They did comp the bread which was a nice gesture. I did look online what could cause the gumminess and sourness of the bread (as I was curious if I was the abnormal one) and here is what they say: " A gummy center combined with a very sour taste is the classic signature of an under-fermented loaf (often called "under-proofed").When dough does not spend enough time in the warm bulk fermentation phase, the yeast fails to create a strong, airy structure, leaving the center dense and wet. Concurrently, the bacteria keep producing acid without the yeast balancing it out, resulting in a highly sour, flat flavor. " Solutions to fix this is : " Extend Bulk Fermentation: Let your dough rise longer at room temperature until it increases in volume by 30% to 50% and feels full of air.Watch the Temperature: If your kitchen is cool (under 70°F / 21°C), move the dough to a warmer spot like an off oven with the light turned on.Cool Completely: Always wait at least 2 to 4 hours before slicing into a fresh loaf so the interior starches can finish setting as the steam escapes. " They should have definitely not served us the bread pipping hot and they should have allowed the bread to rise longer. Perhaps take out the bread of your menu if you don't have the time to let your bread rise longer or cool.....
