Bird Bird Biscuit is a great example of taking a simple concept and doing it to perfection. We live about 2000 miles away, but visit Austin 2-3 times a year and Bird Bird has been a regular stop for years. Our daughter used to live a few minutes from the Lamar location, but we've also been to the OG Manor Road location (as we did today). I've yet to try something I didn't like, but the favorite is Bird Bird Bacon. The biscuit is all you could ask for - flaky, buttery, a bit of salt - and if you can't eat it for a little while, it's still good (not all biscuits age well - some are only good as they come out of the oven). The "bird" in this case is the egg, over medium so it doesn't run all over the place, but not dry like a hard boiled egg. The generous stack of bacon is smoky but not overly so. All together, it's an amazing sandwich. If you're hungrier, I suggest the Queen Beak or Theodore. Check the www site for details and click on the Story link too. The chicken is crunchy and fried perfectly. For me, it's a lot to eat, but I have indulged on occasion. Finally, you need to try the Dough Doughs. I've been here twice and loved it both time. This time I got the Queen Beak & the Firebird. I loved the Queen Beak since the honey made it a little sweeter. The Firebird was really good too, it has a little kick to it and my boyfriend loved the pickles they had. The chicken on both was so tender, juicy, and so crispy. The biscuits were amazing. It was crunchy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside, and wasn't falling apart at all. The only "cons" was that the food was so big making it hard and messy to eat. I went at around 9am so there was no one there, it was so peaceful and the food didn't take too long to come out at all. I would recommend coming here early since it gets crowded later on. read more

The Queen Beak might look simple but it is a flavor punch. The biscuits are so fluffy and soft, and the chicken is so tender on the inside. Came here during the morning of the Austin International Half Marathon during the Texas Cold front around 740 AM. A friend highly recommended this place so I had to give it a try. You order at the kiosk on the outdoor patio, and receive your order at another window. All seatings are outdoors. I placed my order, waited for approximately 15 minutes, and later found out my order did not go through due to the system being down. I suppose the 30 degree weather interfered with the network, but the friendly staff quickly addressed the issue and made my food within a few short minutes after. I ordered the "Lovely Day" (House-Made Chicken Sausage Biscuit with Cheddar Cheese) and absolutely fell in love. The chicken sausage and cheddar cheese are a match made in heaven, and the fresh biscuits wrapped it all together. Truly the best biscuit I've ever had in my life. My wife and I make it a point to come here every single time we are in Austin and honestly even when we are staying way up in Liberty Hill the drive is always worth it. This place is a staple for us and never disappoints. I am a huge sucker for fried chicken and their spicy fried chicken biscuit sandwich is unreal. The chicken is perfectly crispy with just the right amount of heat, tucked inside this thick doughy biscuit that somehow stays light and fluffy at the same time. Then you get those big chunky pickles that add the perfect crunch and this spicy dill mayo aioli situation that I do not even know how to describe other than it is ridiculously good. We have had almost everything on the menu at this point. The Lovely Bird is great, The Theodore with the bacon is amazing, and the Little Dipper is such a sleeper hit. It is basically the perfect grilled cheese. Thick, crispy on the outside, soft and melty on the inside. Their Dodos are also awesome, these light airy donut bites that are perfect to snack on after crushing a spicy chicken sandwich. And obviously the biscuits deserve their own shoutout. Stopped by the Manor Rd. location for the first time in years--I've been going to the Brentwood spot since it opened. A heads-up if you haven't been there in a while: there's no more indoor seating. What used to be an indoor dining area is now strictly kitchen space, similar to the Brentwood location. There's covered counter seating, maybe 20-25 stools along the outside walls. Not knowing this, I swung the door open and suddenly I'm face-to-face with the whole kitchen staff. I asked about using the restroom while I waited, and they were very nice about it and pointed me to the back. I think it used to be employees-only but now luckily customers can use it, too. Pro tip: order ahead online to avoid waiting as long. Combined, I've probably been to both locations more than a dozen times and learned that the text saying your order is ready doesn't always come through. If it's been more than 5 minutes past your pickup time (10 if you're feeling patient), go ahead and politely ask at the window--more than once my food was just sitting there, waiting. Update: My husband and I were invited back by the owner, Brian for a redo. My previous review was definitely an off day because this time it was amazing. The biscuit was buttery and fluffy, the chicken was thick and juicy with perfectly seasoned breading. Everything was perfectly balanced and truly was a delight to eat. We got the fries and dill dipping suace which if you haven't tried it I would highly recommend you get it on your next trip. On the day that we went it was pretty windy out, we ate our fries last and they were still pretty warm and not soggy. One of the best chicken sandwiches! Would definitely come back when in town. The restaurant is small, limited parking and the outside seating is limited but it's worth it. The sandwiches are much bigger than I thought. We ordered: The Queen Beak: so simple but so much flavor. The chicken was crispy and the biscuit was flakey but soft on the inside. You could taste the honey which gave it a nice sweet flavor that paired well with the spice of the chipotle mayo. Delicious! Fries: loved them! And they give you a lot. They were crispy and soft! I love the flavor from the seasoning but it may be overwhelming if you like plain fries. Theodore: this was good but not as good as the Queen Beak. It had a milder flavor.
