I ended up placing an order over the phone, because I have a tree nut allergy so I wanted to make sure that it was noted. The sandwich I was planning to order contained pesto with nuts so I just felt like that would be my best bet. I typically avoid this, but it sounded so good that I couldn't resist. The employee that took my order over the phone was wonderful. So friendly and made it super easy. My order was ready when I went in! There is a small seating area inside, but lots of benches and picnic tables outside, and it was the perfect day to enjoy an outside lunch! I ended up doing the 1/2 chicken & eggplant sandwich with a side of the brisket chili. All of it was absolutely fantastic. The ingredients on the sandwich tasted super fresh and went together really well. The brisket chili was delicious with a little bit of spice as well. Not sure if we came on an off day, but weirdly it was a total miss on our food and drinks this time. First off, our salmon for the salad was requested as medium and well-done, but they both came out about halfway raw. I have a particularly sensitive stomach so this was a concern. I didn't feel comfortable eating it but decided to bring it home and cook it some more to avoid wasting food. Secondly, the chai latte was sickeningly sweet- which we did bring to their attention, and they did their best to adjust it. Foodheads is one of my favorite sandwich shops in Austin, and is located in the cutest old house with tons of outdoor seating. Everything I've tried there has been delightful, but my favorite is their chicken special. The easy tiger sourdough is always perfectly toasted, and the tarragon mayo ties the whole sandwich together. I also love Foodheads' homemade tomato coconut soup, and the roast beef and brie sandwich. They also have the best iced teas and homemade lemonade. I tried Foodheads' wedding cake iced tea, and it was the perfect blend of almond and rose petals, without being too sweet. The only drawback to Foodheads is that it can be rather difficult to find a spot during the lunch rush, but I was lucky enough to grab street parking right in front. Overall, everything about this spot is unique and quintessentially Austin. If you haven't had a chance to support this small business yet, I highly recommend! read more

You definitely get old school Austin vibes here, but the good ones of course. We ordered the Gypsy Grove and the Chicken Special sandwiches and oh man, when I say that these might be some of the best sandwiches you'll find in Austin, I'm not over exaggerating! Both were packed with flavor and fillings leaving you wanting more even after the final bite. The jalapeño relish inside the Gypsy grove should be a default on any sandwich, it was sooooo darn good. I was really hoping that this place would be as good as the reviews said. The first time I went it was for lunch. I had made an online order and once I arrived they were pretty busy lunch. There was a separate section to wait for online orders, but when I went up the counter to ask about our food, we weren't helped until the line of customers were fully dealt with which kind of begs the question why even have a separate area for online orders if we have to wait longer and it would've been better if I just waited in the main line and told them what was going on. When we got our orders, we had to go back to work and that's when we found out that they had messed up my coworkers order and didn't remove something from his sandwich and when he called to let them know, they did offer a $5 discount for his next trip there. When I went back to Foodheads a few days later with my wife the line was out the door. I had went ahead and used the online order again because I only have a certain amount of time during my lunch break but this time I waited in line. I had ordered a half/half drink which costs extra and a sandwich but when I went to get my drink, none of them were labeled properly and I just got the lemonade even though they had charged me more for the half lemonade half tea drink. Finally when I went to go eat, they had totally messed up my order by not removing something and adding something else onto the sandwich I didn't ask for. I was willing to look past the extra money for a drink I couldn't get but now they messed up my order a second time so I decided to call and let them know what was going on. When they answered and I explained what happened with the drink, the person on the phone just told me that I should've known to get half tea and half lemonade from the drink stand. When I told him nothing was labeled and that when I grabbed the food and drink they were already busy with other people so I didn't stop to ask he just stayed quiet. I asked him if he can remove the extra charge from my bill and then I told him my sandwich was all messed up and I was just told that I could come back and a $5 discount by mentioning my name to the cashier. Once they told me that, I realized I'm never coming back. How quickly they told me the same thing they told my coworker and then had the gall to make it sound like it was my fault was pretty awful. I never went back to get that discount and I won't. On top of that, the sandwiches were a little subpar, the meat wasn't very tasty, almost like they had the meat sitting out for a whole. The bread was too soggy. Everything in the first and second sandwich I ordered weren't absolutely awful but left a lot to be desired. It's a shame considering how close this place is, I would've liked coming back but unfortunately I will have to find some better spots around Austin. read more

I have beard so much hype about this restaurant so I was really excited to eat here. I love that this place is a repurposed house. It creates such a homey vibe, like you went over to your friend's house to eat. Also lots of outdoor seating! I got the half bella sandwich with Tomato Coconut Soup. The best thing on the plate was the pickled cucumber. Wow every bite was delicious. It was super tart and sweet and crunchy but so yummy. The sandwich was good, the tomato was a perfect pairing to the whole sandwich. I was expecting more of a punch by the mushrooms. The soup was really tasty, you can definitely taste the coconut in the dish. I didn't live how the soup wasn't smooth, but the flavor was definitely there. read more
