Tucked into the vibrant East 6th Street scene, it's a late-night haven for burger lovers, fried chicken fans, and anyone chasing bold, crave-worthy flavors. Come here if you want a good burger or if you happen to stumble out of the many bars on 6th Street. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Golden Tiger operates out of a food truck, but don't let that fool you--this place has serious street food swagger. Located at 1816 E 6th St, it's surrounded by the buzz of East Austin nightlife. There's a casual, communal vibe with picnic tables nearby, perfect for grabbing a bite with friends or soaking in the energy of the area. It's unfussy, fun, and exactly what you want from a late-night burger stop. 1 Star. Service - Head you have to be 21 or over to under the open area because there is a bar. Even with a steady stream of hungry customers, the team at Golden Tiger keeps things moving with speed and a smile. You order at the window, get your name called, and pick up your food hot and fresh. 1 Star. Food - We ordered pretty much everything on the menu, but I'm gonna focus on the Golden Burger. A double smashburger masterpiece with crispy-edged patties that are juicy and full of flavor. The American cheese melts perfectly between the layers, while the special sauce adds a tangy, savory kick that ties everything together. Add in shrettuce (shredded lettuce), pickles, and red onion for crunch and brightness, all stacked on a soft, toasted bun that holds up beautifully. It's greasy in the best way, balanced, and deeply satisfying--everything a smashburger should be. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. Even though you have to be 21 and up to get in, it's great for braving the elements (Texas weather is very random) or inebriated patrons around the area. It's the perfect blend of hot mess that's both delicious and messy. 1 Star.
Rating 3.8/5 [dine in] We were at Whisler's and discovered that the Golden Tiger truck was parked on their outdoor patio. They offered their version of a Happy Meal, available only on Wednesdays from 4-7 PM. I got the Cub Burger for $2.99 and shared it with my husband. It was ready immediately after I paid, which was impressive. The burger is simple--just cheese and pickles--but it tastes so much better than McDonald's, especially for the price. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area during that time.
Hard to handle those serranos (they are spicy) so I ended up picking them off of my burgers and fries. The burger had some of the best burger meat I've had in a long time. Really, really good smash burger. The fries were also delicious. Had trouble finding parking nearby but the food only took 10-15 minutes to prepare.

I'm not a drinker but I visited just to try Golden Tiger and was happy I did! FAST FACTS: * Parking - street parking available nearby but plan to walk a couple blocks if it's busy * Ordering - you can walk up and order or place your order from your phone on their website and pick it up from the counter when it's ready * Delivery - available online through Postmates * Open daily until 1:30 am * Located inside Whistler's so bring an ID to get in and you can't bring outside drinks (including water bottles) SERVICE: I visited on a Saturday night around 7:45 pm and was able to grab a table. I ordered on the app with an estimated time of 8:15 pm for my order to be ready but got the text to pick it up right at 8:00 pm. The workers at the window were friendly despite being busy! PRICING: The total was $38.97 after tax and before tip for a Golden Burger ($12), Original Chicken Sandwich ($10), and Tiger Fries ($14). The portion sizes are a little small for the price but the quality of the food was great. GOLDEN BURGER (8/10): The patties have great flavor and are the perfect thickness for a smash burger. The lettuce and onions were fresh and crispy and the pickles are delicious! The bun is a Martin's potato bun so it's soft, but does kind of fall apart. I wish there was a little more of the special sauce but thankfully the cheese helped keep it moist. I'd order this again! ORIGINAL CHICKEN SANDWICH (7/10): The chicken thigh was fried perfectly... it was crispy on the outside but juicy and tender on the inside. Just like with the burger, the veggies on it are fresh and the bun is super soft! Again, I just wish there was a little more of the special sauce... next time I'd probably order a side of extra sauce just to be safe. TIGER FRIES (6/10): These were good but there was almost too much going on... plus they get soggy SUPER fast so you have to eat them quickly. The pickled serranos added the perfect amount of heat and the chili and queso had the savory flavors covered. The pickles were tasty but I wish they were chopped up so you could get some in every bite instead of having to commit to a large pickle slice. I probably wouldn't get these again because I felt like the portion size was small for $14 but they were worth trying once. I'll definitely come back to Golden Tiger and would recommend it to others! I love that they're open late and serve quality comfort food that doesn't leave you feeling greasy and gross after eating it.
I was told Golden Tiger has the best smash burgers in Austin and I must say they were not joking. The burgers are juicy and flavorful. They are located in a food truck at whistlers. You order online so it makes it convenient and while you wait you can grab a delicious cocktail or beer at whistlers. The food came out quick! I ate the entire double it was so delish. We also had an order of queso fries which is a must. The queso has a nice kick of heat!
Really good! Traveled decently and all the flavors just worked. Nothing too insane but absolutely nothing wrong. I understand the hype!

This tofu sandwich was the best I've ever had. It's hard to scratch the itch of a good chicken sandwich, but they really pulled it off! You order using a QR code, but the menu does a good job explaining each item so we didn't have any questions. Our order was ready in under 30 minutes and absolutely delicious. The bench and patio seating is great for accommodating a larger group of people as well.
Came here after work with friends who wanted a quick bite before heading home. The ambience and vibe was cool and relaxing. I loved the decor in the bar area. The outside patio was set out nicely and very spacious to hang with friends or large gatherings. The food truck is outside the bar area and easy to order and receive food from. I ordered an off menu item which was the jerk chicken sandwich which was spicy but damn good! Chicken had a beautifully made crust and color to it that I started to admire this sandwich before I dug in. The bread was soft and the condiments inside definitely enhanced my appetite. Staff was good and friendly and definitely will be back!!!!!
I've heard great things about Golden Tiger for a long time but haven't made a real effort to check it out...boy have I been missing out! This place is absolutely heat! The Thai chicken sandwich with that chili sauce is amazing! It had the perfect kick with a twinge if sweet. To top it off, the tiger Fries were the side of dreams. Fries with a fried egg will always win me over, but add jalapenos and onions and queso... Game over. This place is an absolute must!!!!

Fantastic. Came on Thursday. They had a buy one get one free burger special going on. We got the burgers, lemon pepper wings and fries. MAN, delicious juicy burgers, fresh fries seasoned perfectly, and perfectly crispy wings! SO GOOD. We killed the whole platter! The food truck is located in the back of the bar. If you didn't know where it was it might be a little hard to find. You walk through the main bar, take a right through the pool table area, out the back door by the arcade games. Thursday night was slow so food came out quick. Mitch was working and made everything delicious. Great service, great food, great drinks. A nice drop off the beaten path.
These burgers are absolutely amazing. Tried them as an Imuber eats prefer, i've never been to actually location. The food however is to notch quality, one of the best smash burgers in the city. Highly recommend.
I had the OG chicken slider and it exceeded my expectations by a mile! It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The slaw and sauce they put on it...man, I could eat this all day. I'm craving it as I'm writing this The bun was nice and soft like good ol southern comfort bread. The fries with special sauce were indeed special. I don't drink anymore so I know it didn't just taste this good because I was drunk I am definitely going to swing by again and I saw they were on door dash also they're open late so perfect for the late night craving also. Keeping this review short and sweet. Golden Tiger was one of the few places that was open past midnight after picking up my friend from the airport, so we gave it a shot. Totally going there again! The Pros: - You order your food via QR code, which I personally prefer. - You get an ETA on your food. - The OG chicken sandwich is freaking phenomenal! This is the chicken sandwich people should be raving about, not the Popeyes one, not the OG chick-fil-a one, and definitely not the McD or Wendy's ones. It's perfectly crispy and moist, I can still imagine it. The Cons: - The Golden Burger didn't stick out in particular. I'm glad I had this first before eating the OG or else it would've paled even more in comparison. - They don't really call out when your food is ready, you have to go up and ask about it, so our food was ready for a bit before I decided to go up to the window to check on our food. - The piece of chicken in the OG sandwich could have been 'flatter', it was kinda curved so it wasn't exactly evenly sandwiched. read more
Food: 9/10: I ordered the Thai chicken sandwich. As a lover of thai food, I must say this sandwich was my style. But if I'm trying to be impartial, it's still a really good sandwich. The chicken was crispy and the glaze was sweet and savory. I wish it could've been a bit spicier, but I like things hot. The thai basil was also a nice but unexpected touch, still not sure how I feel about it. Service: 7/10: The service was fine. They were quick and efficient with taking our order. The food came out after 10-15 minutes. Vibes: 8/10: The food truck is situated in the outside area of a bar, so there were nice light fixtures and cool music playing. This food truck is easily accessible from the back patio of Whisler's cocktail bar. Ordering was super easy we were able to order through the window. They start using their online ordering system once it starts to get busy. We ordered the Thai chicken sandwich, Patty melt (special of the day), loaded fries and original wings. The wings wasn't anything to brag about, pretty under seasoned in my opinion. The loaded fries I was not a big fan of because all the toppings made it soggy. The flavors tasted muddled and I was done after 3 bites. My husband really enjoyed the patty melt and was surprised at how tasty it was. He gave it a 10/10 rating! The star of the evening was their Thai fried chicken sandwich! All the Asian flavors and Thai spices really blended together with the fried chicken and everything tasted in harmony. The spice level was a 7/10 for me but k took a few peppers out to cut that spice level down. I enjoyed grabbing a crafted cocktail while waiting for our food and would recommend trying what they are known for...their fried chicken sandwiches! read more

This place is so good!! The fried chicken in the sandwich is so crispy (it was slightly burned but under everything else you couldn't taste it). I ordered pickup and they were a little bit late after the pick up time but it was well worth it. The sandwich had with chicken, pickles, cabbage, some sauce (it tasted like mayo but really good). Even though it was simple, the chicken was amazing and made the sandwich a 5 star for me. Definitely would recommend for the late night runs! read more
Opened on a Sunday night! Craving late night food after watching a show at the Skylark. I got the chicken sando and my bf got the burger. Both are super tasty and flavorful. The chicken has a kick while the burger melts in your mouth. I enjoyed both! Awesome outdoor seating area on a not so cold night. There's a bar adjacent to quench your thirst. read more

Welcome to the East Side, Golden Tiger! If you read the reviews, you'll see this place used to be inside Container Bar on Rainey, but is now inside Whistler's on the East Side. That's great for me as I live a few blocks from Whistler's. I should be mad as I enjoyed Thai-Kun and Golden Tiger took their spot, but after trying them tonight, I ain't mad at all! Mason and Jamie running the truck are super nice and they have a great menu. I got a chicken sandwich for $8 and skipped the option to add a half order of fries for $3. They tell me they're handmade, so I'll have to try them next time. I just went for the OG chicken sandwich tonight and damn it was good. Piping hot, deliciously moist chicken, not too much breading, and a great sauce. It was bigger than I expected for the price and just great. I can't wait to go back and try the Thai Chicken Sandwich. They also have a $5 mini burger which is great idea for a quick bar snack. I have a feeling I'm going to become a regular with such good food and nice people running the show. read more

This is the best chicken sandwich I have ever had, any review that you see hyping up the chicken sandwich is accurate. From the bun, to the secret sauce, to the thickness and juiciness of the chicken it was divine! Super fast and friendly service, I also ordered a side of fries and six wings in their buffalo sauce. Absolutely out of this world. Love the seasoning on the fries and whatever they have in that buffalo sauce it's close to crack cocaine, it's super freaking good lol Also they're open till 1:30 AM seven days a week, which is super convenient for late night eaters who want high-quality food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

I got the Thai Chicken Sandwich. It was a long wait, even though there was no line (~30 minute wait), and the service was okay. The guy at the cashier was speaking very softly and was not particularly friendly. The Thai Chicken Sandwich was just decent, it left no impression on me. For $8, you'd expect a larger piece of chicken (the inside was very thin). Also, the chicken was slightly over cooked, and the sauce was very overpowering because it was just very sweet. Overall, not too bad but I wouldn't go again. 3/5 for service and for food. read more

After hearing about this place from a few different people we decided to give it a try! The burger truck was easy to find and only had a 20 minute wait time when we arrived on Friday around 730pm. I ordered the regular burger which is two patties with lettuce, sauce, tomato, pickles.. fries were $3 extra to add to the order. Total for my burger and fries was about $17 with tax and tip. The Burger was DELICIOUS!! I love burgers and get them all of the time when I go out & this burger had so much flavor and was cooked so well. The meat was seasoned very well & really took the burger to another level. Thinly shredded crisp lettuce added some crunch and it wasn't very greasy! They gave a good portion of fries and I will be coming back very soon!! read more
