Love coming here and supporting black owned businesses. They're always so sweet and the food always made to order so super fresh when you get it. I got the lemon pepper "wangz" and they're made from oyster mushrooms. An up and coming vegan staple and it was delish and crunchy. They have these bar stools and a high bar to sit at. Parking nearby is the street if you're lucky and the dental office lot that's next door (you pay for parking but I never have so shhh). Overall a great joint and can't wait to try something else. My mind is on the "too-nah" sandwich for next time. :)

I am trying to eat better these days so I wanted to see what the buzz was about. This food truck is located on the corner of 11th street, it's nice and colorful so you can't miss it. Unfortunately, there is street parking. I was able to luck up on a spot not too far away. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Wangz. This included Fried oyster mushrooms, with lemon pepper flavoring & seasoned fries. These "wangz" were so good! I never would have guessed that it wasn't chicken. I probably could've went with a softer fry but overall it was delicious. They offer a variety of vegan meals including nachos, sandwiches, burgers, banana pudding, and even sea moss. They also offer brunch on the weekends which I plan to make it to soon. Even if you're not vegan, Im sure you'll be satified with anything on the menu.

The fried okra was delicious. I'll be dreaming of it for years... Only wish I showed up on a Friday so I could try that mac and cheese!

I'm coming to find this place with my family! We were treated to bbq at work and the non-meat choice was from this vendor. Let me tell you, the food was not only delicious but beautiful to look at! Presentation is a big deal for me when it comes to dishes and Community Vegan didn't disappoint. The people I talked to were kind and explained the ingredients in the dishes with pride!

Yes, I absolutely recommend this place! Even my husband who is a hard-core meat eater wanted to venture out a try something vegan. We couldn't decide what to try so we had a variety. I ordered the Crab Cake Totchos, so very very good! My sister ordered the Lemon Pepper Wangz, also very tasty, my husband ordered the Beer Battered Cauli Chik'n Sandwich with fries and the Smash Not Pass Cheezeburger, Wow it was all very good and well seasoned. The service was great and speedy, and all of our questions answered with a smile. We also ordered the homemade Lemonades, so refreshing and delicious! Because it is a food trailer the ambience is just okay. The Texas heat is no joke but the food is well worth enduring the sun! I highly recommend giving Community Vegan a try!

Really cool spot in a food truck area with lots of picnic tables outside the truck. I ordered the Crispy BEER BATTERED CAULI CHIKN SANDWICH with WAFFLE FRIES, and it was pretty greasy (that's the only qualm I had was how it was still dripping oil from the grease), but SO delicious! It was literally a huge piece of cauliflower battered & seasoned and then fried. It was so good- I think about it almost everyday of my life since I had it, and if I end up moving to Austin, this will be my monthly meal. The waffle fries were the best waffle fries I've ever had in my life. They were so crispy (which is how I like all my food) and so delicious- no ketchup needed! Will return again, and I highly recommend everyone experiencing this delicious food.

First of all, love the hip vegan vibes of this truck. A painted bus, hot dope. Got the Lemon Pepper Wangz Basket. Kind of pricey for the amount of food that you get, but still yummy. The Fried Oyster Mushrooms were crispy and so flavorful, definitely get them dirty. Paired it with the cajun dipping sauce which balanced out the fried taste. The fries were also so yummy. Crispy and also rolled in flavor :)

I had been wanting to try this place for years after hearing people talk about it and following the fun CV stories on social media. I decided to come for brunch and debated between the Chick'n N Waffles and the Southern Fried Chik'n biscuit. The photo on the IG post of the biscuit sandwich earlier in the day was still haunting my mind, so I decided to go with that. I definitely want to come back and try the Chick'n N Waffles. The sandwich wasn't exactly what I was expecting. My biscuit seemed a little flat and didn't have that puffy golden top that I expected. Although the taste was good, it was really crumbly and caused me to have to cup the sandwich in my hand to eat it. The best part was the fried oyster mushrooms! I want to come back for lunch and try them just on their own, because I bet they will be amazing without any thing else to distract from them. The wait for my food wasn't too bad, it was just unfortunately hot out so time stood still. I wish there were more shady spots to enjoy your food. They only have two rows of bar seating and most of it's in the sun.

Lemon pepper wangs. Dime bag. Strawberry shake
    Elyse M.

I REALLY lie their lemon pepper wangs basket. Every time I've ordered (uber eats or in person) it's always been delicious and fresh tasting. The flavors are sooo good. It's fried really well and the breading is nice and crispy. I usually get the tartar sauce...so good. But the house sauce is also good. I've had some other items too which are also good but nothing beats the lemon pepper wangs. The toona melt with the avocado bites are good. I wasn't as into the burger option (I forget what it's called) but it was still decent. Their shakes are also really delicious. Staff has been friendly every time as well.

Let's forget about labels for a minute. Just close your eyes and take a big bite. Sink you teeth in the crackling crisp crust of a perfectly battered and fried morsel, rich with deep savory flavor and spice, perfectly chewy, juicy, not not a hint of excess grease. It hits all those universal comfort food cravings that no one can resist. Now open your eyes again. Yes, it was a mushroom. Yes, it was vegan. These fungi have been known to convert haters, especially when served alongside waffle fries and your dipping sauce of choice. Beyond the food, what makes Community Vegan so great is that you feel genuinely welcome here, like you're part of the family. It's impossible to have a bad experience as long as you come with an open heart and empty stomach!

Sooooo good. Got the chicken sandwich and lemon pepper wings. Great flavor and just the right amount of crispy. The ranch was delicious and the fries were seasoned really well. They were out of the mac & cheese, but definitely going to try that and some other items soon!

I called to see if Paperboy was open and if they had a long wait. There was a recording that said to text only. I texted but didn't receive a response. So we went to check it out. When we walked in we weren't greeted with a "hi how are you?" We just got a cold stare from the hostess and a "We're at full capacity". That's it. It was around 2:20 and they close a 3 pm so it wasn't like we were coming in at 5 minutes before closing. When we left, my daughter even said that girl was mean. If you don't like people then maybe find a job where you aren't face to face with customers. Austin certainly has changed. I've been here for over 25 years. I don't know if it's now an East Austin thing to be snooty and treat people rudely, but we went to Lou's Barton Springs last week with our dog and it was completely different experience. They were welcoming and the employees were all super friendly and nice. My daughter and I enjoyed our experience there and never again will we step into Paperboy East and be treated that way. I'd like better experiences for my kid that was born and raised in here Austin and don't want to subject her to places where we will be treated badly. BTW The right thing to have done is smile, say "good afternoon, I'm sorry but we are at full capacity. Thank you for coming I and please try us another time." It's really not hard. It's called human decency.
