We had fried crispy catfish and shrimp--absolutely amazing. The place is small, but very clean, and you can tell they take pride in it. We ordered ours to go, but the service was still great. A little on the expensive side, but definitely worth it. We'll be back! read more

Check your food before leaving. I ordered a 6 piece fish and 2 piece roasted chicken. When I got home the 6 piece fish was a 6 piece tender. The tenders were pretty much cold and I only live 3 miles away. I tried calling and it rang at least 20 times and no one answered. I'm very disappointed. I thought it was weird cause it took less than 1 minutes to get my food. Now I know why, cold tenders in a plastic dish. I just tried calling again and again no answer. Very disappointing. I cannot understand why so many bad reviews. We love the chicken tenders, rolls, fries, gravy, etc. Even the roasted chicken is very good. It's ALL good and correct. Reviewer said it was tasteless, but simply not true. One reviewer even said no salt, LOL, all fast food has tons of salt, something wrong there. I can name a half dozen places that have very plain, tasteless, unseasoned chicken, but not here. Cannot remember ever being disappointed, ever. I have never tasted such flavorless food in my whole life. I got the wings with no spice and some okra. It all tasted the same. No seasoning, no salt, no pepper, nothing. The guy at the window was this gray haired man with no manners, no niceness, just basically a blank look on his face. Handing me the worst food I've ever eaten. Good food at a good price. Friendly and quick service! This is great fried chicken! I dined in for lunch on a Monday afternoon. I ordered a 2 piece combo with breast and a wing. I got coleslaw for my side with the combo and added fries as an additional side. The combo included a drink and fresh warm roll! This is just good southern style eating! Decided to try this place today since you know i was hungry. We ordered the two piece cat fish meal ($7.99) with a roll, fries and coleslaw, tender sandwich ($7.19) with mac and cheese, chicken leg, and some peppers. The fish was good a little salty but still very tasty. The fries were seasoned fries and crispy, coleslaw was creamy and crunchy, and the chicken leg was not well seasoned but still okay. I asked for a wing but got a leg, but since i like both i just kept it. What we were disappointed in was the tender sandwich. It was two small tenders in there fresh roll they give you. Nothing else was on it. No sauce, lettuce or tomato just plain. The mac and cheese was really food and creamy just like i like it. What surprised us was the ice cream machine. You get free ice cream when you eat in the restaurant. At first it was good but really really sweet. It's just a vanilla soft serve but it tasted like it may have been made with sweet rice milk. I am giving Golden Chick 5 stars based on what it is - a fast food restaurant. We hadn't been before and decided to walk in and eat before the annual Round Rock Christmas festival. The food was really fresh, the service was great and everything was spot on. It wasn't fine dining, but honestly, a very solid meal for a quick service restaurant. We ordered 13 tenders, 3 rolls, a side of gravy and okra. That was plenty for my husband, myself and our 2 and 5 year olds (who eat a lot!) The bathroom was clean and stocked with soap and paper towels and they even had little ice cream cones for the kids for after dinner free of charge. It was a great first experience. read more

We've been ordering here for years, we aren't great regular customers in a first name basis or anything, but Glenn has been the front man and face of Golden Chicken for awhile, Everytime I hear his southern accent on the microphone to take my order I smile, I showed up after 9pm, ordered 40 tenders, 2 gallons of sweet tea, I expected to be parked and apologized , I did try to order online, but Glenn smiled and said no need to apologize, he's always this way. Just tried this place yesterday, and I was glad I did! Good catfish, good shrimp, and fries! Cole slaw was a little salty but also good. The lady at the drive thru cashier gave me tartar sauce in abundance which is awesome. You never get that at fast food joints, and I wish I would have gotten her name so I could shout her out! When I first moved here 10 years ago, I inquired about "Wicked Wings" which are famous in Dallas, TX where I came from. The person that I spoke with on the phone was rude as heck and told me if I wanted those wings maybe I needed to go back to Dallas. Needless to say, I never patronized them at all until about 2 years ago. I must admit that I haven't been more pleased with any place of business as I have been with this staff. They are courteous, polite and patient. I eat a salad there at least 4 times a week. I work around the corner and I even walk up there sometimes. I am very glad that I did not stay "upset" with them over the rudeness of one person. I have forgiven the incident and very glad to say that I really am very happy to be a customer of Golden Chick. Whoah! FREE Ice cream when you eat in! For my mom who is an ice cream fan, your $7.69 3pc chicken thigh meal combo is worth it. We had crunchy fried okra for our side. A large roll comes with your meal. For the main course, the breaded crunchy chicken thigh was amazing. The soda included in the meal was humongous. The place is small so make sure to grab a seat early or go on a football Sunday night when everyone is at home. Lots of drive thru activity as I type this review. Took a friend of mine to get her some food at this place. I couldn't believe the prices for what you get. She ordered one piece of catfish which was almost 3 dollars. I couldn't believe how small it was. I do not eat fish but dang for 3 dollars, I would think that she would get a larger piece. I like Golden Chick for quick service chicken. They are known for their golden tenders, but I like the golden roast. I ordered a golden roast breast piece with a yeast roll. The chicken was good, and the yeast roll that came with it was also really good. Golden Chick is similar to Chicken Express and Bush's in that they specialize in chicken strips, but I prefer Golden Chick since they offer roasted chicken as an alternative to fried chicken. I recommend Golden Chick if you want quick service chicken. read more

Walked in and everyone looked busy, UNDERSTANDABLE! Stood there for More than eight minutes just waiting to be acknowledged, forget helped! I also took in mind that the people behind the counter consisted of two people that didn't speak English, one that was so old that I don't think by the looks of it, could have made it to the front on his good hip, and three people that just didn't care (I don't wonder why they are working here). No acknowledging me to let me know they would soon be with me or even a smile. Two others waiting hot good complained along side me. This is NOT how you run a business!!! Dive...crap...nasty....dirty....food was NASTY! So we got the baked 3 piece chicken platers, I got cole-slaw and the wife got mac n cheese. My cole slaw tasty soured and was NOT fresh! The wives mac n cheese was pretty good but that was the only high light. Both of our baked chickens were extremely salty! Best Chicken Tenders EVER! This place has been around forever so they must be doing something right. We were lazy one night and just decided to go pick up some food. My husband is a huge fried chicken fanatic so I told him we had to check out this place. He got some Fried Chicken, I got the tenders. The batter crispy and flavorful and the chicken on the inside is moist and yummy. No dry chicken here. My husband likes their fries better here than some other chicken places he's been too. This is like the older, polished sister of Churches. I just had them today. The fried chicken was really juicy. Their yeast rolls are soft and slightly sweet. I had their fried okra and it was the kind of breaded that screams "I came this way in a bag from Sysco" That's not a bad thing if you like it. Heck, I indulge in pop tarts from time to time. Ordered my order thru Uber Eats today, and it was all there. They are always prompt and always make sure my whole order is in the bag. Unfortunately my chicken tenders were very much undercooked. Pink and kinda rubbery on the inside. So I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager and she proceeded to tell me it's not on them to make sure Uber eats sent out my order like this. And she is going by what Uber eats policies are. I don't believe it was Uber Eats fault that my chicken was pink. I could have sworn they don't cook my food. She said I could come pick up my order if I took the raw chicken back to her but I'd have to be there within 10 minutes. It's 13 minutes from my house. I spent my college days eating at the original Cane's chicken finger joint in Baton Rouge, La so I've come to measure all tenders by their standard. Golden chick is what my wife orders when I'm too lazy to cook and due to the fact that it's a half mile from our home. The rolls are plain white processed bread that's nearly flavorless. The mashed potatos are ok but I like Popeye's better. The chicken fingers themselves are ok, I like something with a little more zing and spice but it's alright. It IS fried chicken after all and I'm unsure I've ever had bad fried gospel bird. What is it with Texans and white gravy? Everytime my wife orders from here there are nine tubs of gelatinous goo on the kitchen table. I like a little on a chicken fried steak every now and then but...really?
