Check your food before leaving. I ordered a 6 piece fish and 2 piece roasted chicken. When I got home the 6 piece fish was a 6 piece tender. I cannot understand why so many bad reviews. We love the chicken tenders, rolls, fries, gravy, etc. Even the roasted chicken is very good. It's ALL good and correct. Reviewer said it was tasteless, but simply not true. One reviewer even said no salt, LOL, all fast food has tons of salt, something wrong there. Decided to try this place today since you know i was hungry. We ordered the two piece cat fish meal ($7.99) with a roll, fries and coleslaw, tender sandwich ($7.19) with mac and cheese, chicken leg, and some peppers. The fish was good a little salty but still very tasty. The fries were seasoned fries and crispy, coleslaw was creamy and crunchy, and the chicken leg was not well seasoned but still okay. I asked for a wing but got a leg, but since i like both i just kept it. What we were disappointed in was the tender sandwich. It was two small tenders in there fresh roll they give you. Nothing else was on it. No sauce, lettuce or tomato just plain. The mac and cheese was really food and creamy just like i like it. What surprised us was the ice cream machine. You get free ice cream when you eat in the restaurant. At first it was good but really really sweet. It's just a vanilla soft serve but it tasted like it may have been made with sweet rice milk. I am giving Golden Chick 5 stars based on what it is - a fast food restaurant. We hadn't been before and decided to walk in and eat before the annual Round Rock Christmas festival. The food was really fresh, the service was great and everything was spot on. It wasn't fine dining, but honestly, a very solid meal for a quick service restaurant. We ordered 13 tenders, 3 rolls, a side of gravy and okra. That was plenty for my husband, myself and our 2 and 5 year olds (who eat a lot!) The bathroom was clean and stocked with soap and paper towels and they even had little ice cream cones for the kids for after dinner free of charge. It was a great first experience. read more

When I first moved here 10 years ago, I inquired about "Wicked Wings" which are famous in Dallas, TX where I came from. The person that I spoke with on the phone was rude as heck and told me if I wanted those wings maybe I needed to go back to Dallas. Needless to say, I never patronized them at all until about 2 years ago. I must admit that I haven't been more pleased with any place of business as I have been with this staff. They are courteous, polite and patient. I eat a salad there at least 4 times a week. I work around the corner and I even walk up there sometimes. I am very glad that I did not stay "upset" with them over the rudeness of one person. I have forgiven the incident and very glad to say that I really am very happy to be a customer of Golden Chick. I like Golden Chick for quick service chicken. They are known for their golden tenders, but I like the golden roast. I ordered a golden roast breast piece with a yeast roll. The chicken was good, and the yeast roll that came with it was also really good. Golden Chick is similar to Chicken Express and Bush's in that they specialize in chicken strips, but I prefer Golden Chick since they offer roasted chicken as an alternative to fried chicken. I also took in mind that the people behind the counter consisted of two people that didn't speak English, one that was so old that I don't think by the looks of it, could have made it to the front on his good hip, and three people that just didn't care (I don't wonder why they are working here). Best Chicken Tenders EVER! This place has been around forever so they must be doing something right. We were lazy one night and just decided to go pick up some food. My husband is a huge fried chicken fanatic so I told him we had to check out this place. He got some Fried Chicken, I got the tenders. The batter crispy and flavorful and the chicken on the inside is moist and yummy. No dry chicken here. My husband likes their fries better here than some other chicken places he's been too. This is like the older, polished sister of Churches. I just had them today. The fried chicken was really juicy. Their yeast rolls are soft and slightly sweet. I had their fried okra and it was the kind of breaded that screams "I came this way in a bag from Sysco" That's not a bad thing if you like it. Heck, I indulge in pop tarts from time to time. Ordered my order thru Uber Eats today, and it was all there. They are always prompt and always make sure my whole order is in the bag. Unfortunately my chicken tenders were very much undercooked. Pink and kinda rubbery on the inside. So I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager and she proceeded to tell me it's not on them to make sure Uber eats sent out my order like this. I spent my college days eating at the original Cane's chicken finger joint in Baton Rouge, La so I've come to measure all tenders by their standard. Golden chick is what my wife orders when I'm too lazy to cook and due to the fact that it's a half mile from our home. The rolls are plain white processed bread that's nearly flavorless. The mashed potatos are ok but I like Popeye's better. The chicken fingers themselves are ok, I like something with a little more zing and spice but it's alright. It IS fried chicken after all and I'm unsure I've ever had bad fried gospel bird. What is it with Texans and white gravy? Everytime my wife orders from here there are nine tubs of gelatinous goo on the kitchen table. I like a little on a chicken fried steak every now and then but...really?
