I have been a fan of Dave's Hot Chicken since the very beginning, back in East Hollywood (yes, that means I'm no spring chicken), so I was excited to visit this location now that I live in Texas. Everything was just as good as I remembered, and the best part is that there's a drive-thru here! I went with medium since it's been a minute. The chicken is spicy, but I could have leveled up for sure. I'll be back to move up to hot and extra hot again soon! I like both fries and the slaw, so I added some slaw to the meal. My son and I dined at Dave's on Saturday afternoon and honestly I'm not so astute on the "Hot Chicken" concept and really haven't even tried other local offerings, but I do know fried chicken so here's my perspective. It's important to note that customer service was excellent and employees have a sense of urgency and seem to really care, so that alone is commendable and refreshing to see. I'll always prefer bone-in chicken breast or thighs if available on the menu but fried breaded breast tenders are only good to me if served immediately out of the fryers and especially if they are dipped in a sauce. It just seems that once you dip or pour sauce on boneless chicken breast fillets of tenders that the crust loses texture and the chicken is no different than Applebee's or Chili's boneless wings after a minute or so that's not worth $14.99 for this chicken sandwich and fries. That's being said the Dave's Hot Chicken Sandwich was okay Saturday being it likely say in the window for a few minutes or more before my buzzer sounded off. I think it dressed well with the pickles and kale slaw and it has the potential to be really good if all the components were outstanding like with a fresh well toasted bun that could hold up to the kale slaw for a few minutes until served along with the chicken bring hot out of the fryer before being sauced and immediately assembled and served. Out of the two chicken sandwiches, I consider the best I'd say that Dave's Hot Chicken is good but a distant third. My first choice and all time favorite is the Spicy Bird and The Big Bird at Roots Chicken Shak at the Mueller HEB Main Street Food Court on East 51st in Austin , hands down for the fried chicken thigh, kale slaw, dressing, pickles and the most wonderful and appropriate bun. The Spicy Bird $8.95 and Duck Fat Fries $3.95 is served hot and is always 5 Stars so well worth the price and you can enjoy it in the HEB beer garden with your favorite hard or soft beverage from the bar. Great customer service too! My second favorite is the iconic Popeye's in Austin that is managed top notch and is the best for cleanliness, freshly prepared quality food, and great customer service! Went to drive through and waited 35 minutes to get 2 tenders.. What's even more weird is the person taking my order had to run inside with my card to process payment. Waited about 40 minutes for my online order at the new Dave's Hot Chicken in Georgetown. I get that they're new and busy, so I won't hold the wait too hard against them,but flavor-wise, I expected more. We ordered medium, but there was barely any heat. First, the food is great! It has plenty of tasty choices with a variety of choices of (if you can believe it) chicken! They are unique in the tender game so definitely stop by for the food. Secondly, all these new restaurants are busy, so expect a wait. Also, there is plenty of staff but they're not organized but I'm confident the young staff will figure it out. Public Service Announcement: tried Dave's Hot Chicken's Carolina Reaper sandwich the other night. They made me sign a waiver at the window. I knew it was gonna be intense but I handle top Scoville Units peppers all the time and I've sampled loads of hot sauces. Parked my car and ate the sandwich. Started sweating from head and armpits like I had just played 3 pickleball matches. The flavor was decent but the heat definitely overpowered it. Washed it down with a drink, thoroughly cleaned my hands with hand sanitizer. Drove home. I was breathing dragon fire but made it safe. Showered. Went to bed. Everything was fine. 3AM rolls around. We had a wonderful time at the soft opening today, staff was so welcoming & as friendly as can be. GM Jenifer was so sweet and gave our kids some chicken toys. Loved the murals inside and there was plenty of seating, the restaurant had a fun & lively vibe. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, and packed with so much flavor. I love that you can choose your spice level, so it's perfect whether you like just a little kick or want to go all out. The sides are just as amazing, the fries were golden and crunchy, the mac & cheese was creamy & cheesy, and the pickles add the perfect tangy bite. The chicken slider is a must-try, piled high with their signature hot chicken, fresh pickles, slaw and that soft bun that ties it all together. On top of the delicious food, the service was quick and friendly, and everything came out hot and fresh. The portions are generous, and you definitely get your money's worth. The service was good. The building was new and nice and clean. The food was extremely mediocre. This is my first time and I didn't realize that the recipe is basically a fried chicken breast or tender tossed in some chili powder and spices and then served on a bun with some mayonnaise type sauce. No choice of any type of fresh vegetable for a side just basically fried stuff. This is what caused a 50 car line the first week that this place was open ? I can't believe it. People. I ordered my food for pick up and I ordered 10 pieces bite size, extra hot with fries and and an order of the regular top loaded fries, hot. The chicken bites are juicy, crispy and bursting with flavor! The order came with bread which was placed on the bottom which I like because the chicken seasoning transfers to the bread. First, let me say, I haven't eaten here. However, based on the reviews, I won't. I use Yelp to help me get honest feedback to increase my odds of a good experience. There's a consistency around the food not meeting expectations and it being over priced. What stood out to me in the reviews is the response is clearly automated. I own two technology companies and I'm all for streamlining processes. However, this is one area you need to have real humans responding. When someone complains and states they went to the customer care link and your response is to direct them to the customer care link, that's not good. I realize you're a franchise, so you're probably limited on how you can improve the flavor of the food. However, at a minimum, I recommend you include the drink with the meal, even if you have to raise the meal price by $1. You can't have patrons feeling ripped off, they won't come back a second time. Second, have a human respond to complaints and although you probably aren't going to be able to improve the flavor of the tenders, at least you can improve the experience and as long as you are consistently good in customer care, food preparation , cleanliness and provide value, you'll likely succeed. Remember, feedback is a gift (good and bad), but if you don't listen, those lines will shrink quickly. I wish you the best, running a business isn't easy. My family went to the Georgetown TX location. We'd never been to a Dave's so we gave it a try. We won't go back. I'll start by saying the chicken is pretty good. The serving size is pretty good as well. The first issue is the pricing....two parents and two kids, no sodas....$72. "We don't have small ranch"...guess I have to get a large ranch another $4. The screen pushes a tip. For what exactly? You haven't done anything but want a 10-20% tip? So we ordered... Service: We ordered and waited. And waited. And waited. There were multiple people waiting when we ordered and none looked happy. While we sat and tried to entertain the kids 20 minutes.....25 minutes....30 minutes..one of the other couples waiting got a refund and left. Another couple went up to complain. We got our food about 32 minutes after we ordered. When my buzzer went off, I went to the counter to pick up my food. Hmmm, still have NO IDEA what the tip is for? Preparing my food demands a tip? Isn't that your job? Maybe I tipped to get my $4 ranch thrown at me when I pointed out they failed to give it to me. So the pricing is outrageous. The service is horrendous. And they demand a tip. You're better off walking another 30 seconds to the Chick-fil-A next door where they are friendly, they don't demand a tip, they don't throw $4 ranch at you, you pay half what you pay at Dave's and you get your food in 5 minutes max. read more

I have been to Dave's hot in San Antonio and other states in the country. So I knew what to expect here at the newly opened location in Georgetown. Drive thru had huge lines wrapped around when I got there. Luckily we were eating inside so didn't have to wait that long. Between waiting waiting to get in and ordering and getting our food I would it took about 20 minutes. Not bad. Food came out fresh and hot as expected with the perfect seasonings and spice levels. My daughter got their lowest level one under the mild #1 and I got my usual #3 with tender HOT and my slider Extra HOT . Also ordered a side of Mac n cheese to go with our food. I feel the heat level wasn't as much as I have had at other Dave's locations. They might not have put as much seasonings on mines. Usually extra hot would give me sweats. But not this time. I was totally fine. Even though I was expecting some. But other than that chicken was super tender and juicy and fresh as expected. Mac n cheese was on point too. Let's hit the positives first...kale slaw was cool & crisp, fries were good with great spices & the whole staff was really friendly And now the negatives (for me at least)... the tenders were very "spiced" with overpowering smoked paprika & brown sugar (almost a faint sweet bbq-ey taste) & the fries were warmer than the tender. Total let down, got the reaper tenders and mild tenders, although the service from the people that greeting me was very positive, the chicken was dry and the Mac and cheese was too watery , the reaper was very over hyped (very spicy still) but not to the level social media portrays it to be. The honey that we were given made the food more enjoyable but there's nothing good about getting a soggy slice of bread with ur meal. We ate the food right after receiving it so it was disappointing to see that the chicken was dry and the bread was already soggy.
