Tucked away in Georgetown, on Williams Dr., is a cozy little establishment known as "The Red Door Kitchen". It's an Italian themed restaurant that serves breakfast. All of my followers know that I'm a huge fan of breakfast, and finding a new, affordable breakfast spot is always a win! We walk in, get seated immediately and start to check the menu. The choices are great. FYI, there is a separate breakfast and dinner menu. For an Italian restaurant, there are great breakfast menu choice. More than I expected. While we're sitting I noticed the background music sounds very clear and crisp. We immediately discover there's a soloist on the piano and he's singing a lively melody of various. he's actually very good. I didn't expect this over breakfast. I ordered the "Prohibition", eggs, bacon, hash browns and 2 pancakes for $14.99. The portions were adequate and the pancakes were delicious. My lovely wife ordered the "Double Barrel", two Biscuits and Gravy, with two sausage patties, and sausage gravy - $10.99. Now my wife really loves a good flavorful sausage gravy. She was happy to see that her portion had lots of sausage chunks in the gravy. The location is limited in size, but they make up for it with ambiance, service and value. This is truly a locals hangout, as there seemed to be a lot of regulars popping in and grabbing seats. Our server, "Becky K", was nothing short of amazing. She was so helpful and since it was our first time, she gave us a brief history of the restaurant and the popular food choices. She also romanced us with the idea of desert. She offered us a "Orange Cycle" cheesecake slice and it was scrumptious. So sweet and delicious with a gram cracker crust. I really hope you get a chance to visit the Red Door Kitchen. This place is so amazing!! Like the complete package. I actually have NEVER experienced the total vibe of a home style family restaurant like this one here. Our "official" server was a sweet young man by the name of Brenden (I say official because everyone there actually embraces everyone regardless of table assignments) I seriously wanted to relocate from Fort Worth to here just so I can keep coming back. Now let's get to the nitty gritty THE FOOD is the most authentic tasting Italian food that I have ever tasted! Only part that broke my little foodie heart was that they were sold out of their in house tiramisu but what makes it okay is that that in itself will be my excuse to come back!! 10 out of 10!! What a concept in this little place we call Georgetown! A speakeasy style restaurant with good ol' wise guys in tact!! I've been here several times and don't know why I haven't written a review about this gem. From the cool Chicago style decorations, to the bad ass menu, this place does not disappoint. Bill and crew really know how to make their guests feel welcomed and special. Miquela was fabulous as with every visit! I ordered the chef's special which included an appetizer, main course and dessert. For the appetizer, it was a generous portion of 4 crostini's that reminded me of my recent trip to Italy! Great attentive service! Cool interior too! I'm on a protein diet, and had decided on a side order of meatballs before I went. Sadly, they are made with bell peppers, and that's a big no for me. At that point I was limited in my options. I asked our waitress if I could order just a burger patty. No bun, produce, or fries. She confirmed with the kitchen that I could, and I was in business! My dining partners ordered flatbread pizzas, and were very happy with their choices. I truly appreciate not being forced to buy a whole meal & waste most of it. I visited this restaurant for the first time for lunch. This is a restaurant with a red door located on on Williams Drive directly past Estrella Crossing. The storefront is inviting. Upon entering the restaurant, it is very comfortable and feels like a nice place to be. Upon looking at their signage, they have live music! I will definitely be back for that. Upon looking at the menu, they have many yummy dishes to choose from. However, I have extreme food restrictions, and I did not see anything that I could eat because I am dairy free, processed sugar-free and gluten-free. I shared this information with my server (i'm pretty sure her name was Haley). She said, "let me go talk to the chef," and off she went! :) She came back and recommended "caprice chicken over veggies" which they would customize to my dietary restrictions. Wow, that was over and above and so comforting! She said that the caprice chicken over veggies dish came with a salad and she checked -and all of the salad dressing had sugar in it, so I told her to bring it to me plain with a little bit of vinegar on the side and she came back with a salad with dressing on it and she said that they found some apple cider vinegar they put on top and would that be OK... OK? It was perfect! I loved that she listened to me and she knew that was within my diet restrictions! Haley is a fabulous server. I told Haley that she was so good that I'm going to ask for her to be my server every time. I feel so blessed to find someplace that I can eat comfortably and be so satisfied! Did I mention they have Italian wine!?! Oh so good! I really, really wanted to love this place, but the food was just mediocre. The service was pretty good. My daughter was begging me to get soup with my pasta, but I wanted a salad, so the waitress surprised us with a small bit of soup for my daughter along with my salad. We ordered mozzarella sticks and they asked if we wanted marinara, ranch, or both. We said both, but had no clue we'd be charged for the ranch (which tasted like the bottled stuff and went uneaten). The pizza was delicious. Nice thin crust, wonderful crispy cupped pepperoni. The dogs and fries were served stone cold. It was truly shocking. The fries were bland and tasted like refrigerated fries. Couldn't eat them. The chili on the dog was not great. The flavor of the Chicago dog was good, but the beef dog was so cold. The burger was tasty and the tots were served warm and crispy. The pasta was just meh. Not bad, but just lacking that punch of flavor. I found myself wishing we were at another establishment that we knew had good pasta. We were dining at 6pm and they were out of a lot of items, which seemed odd. All-in-all, not terrible, but quite a trek for us and nothing stood out to make us want to try again. read more

Sometimes reading reviews before actually eating at a restaurant tends to make one very judgmental. I prefer to dine not once but several times before I formulate an opinion! We have dinedhere 6 times now for both lunch and dinner and enjoyed the take out option. We have just relocated from Fort Worth and were looking for our new go to ITALIAN RESTAURANT and I think we've found it! From the time we entered and through out our meal our servers were very attentive and made us feel like long time customers! The food is excellent from the cheese steak and Italian beef to the pizza and the pasta we have not been disappointed! Still haven't sampled the breakfast/brunch option yet but it's on our list! This is a small establishment exceedingly popular with locals. Friendly staff welcomes you with a front and back menu that changes. The atmosphere is "prohibition area" and menu items are named with that theme. Food is wonderful, not prepared so served hot. Today my partner had the alvacado toast, which she loves and the presentation was fantastic. Focaccia bread, cut in quarters spread with the avocado and seasonings and tomatoes and bits on top.. The plate was dressed with a balsamic sauce which she also loved. I had the "copper plate," 2 4" pancakes with a choice of bacon, ham, or sausage. Service was friendly. The interior is really cute. They had a few large groups having lunch. The food was delicious! I had the lunch special with the small soup (French onion) and 1/2 cheesesteak. The salad is very tiny. Tiniest I've ever seen. But it was loaded up with lettuce so it's not as tiny as it appears. The salad came out about 5 minutes after ordered which is fine but it took....20 min later for food. Bathroom was very clean and beautiful. Service was excellent !!! Menu was big! This place was designed with love. To increase that star ... bread... bread needs to be chewy sourdough. Please ditch the white hot dog level bread and Put some olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table for dipping .... And if you want to really wow them.... We've been excited & happy to support this local eatery in an area that's starving for more restaurants that aren't fast food joints. The PROS: Wait staff are great - super personable & friendly. Location is good. It's like an Italian diner. Images of the Rat Pack on the walls and speak easy vibe is fun. Desserts are good. The CONS: Regrettably, the food has been inconsistent. First time we went it was good and we enjoyed it. The next few times, less & less. The most recent was bad. What do we mean?... Pasta was literally mush it was overcooked so badly. And we were the only customers. We really love the girls working there and want them to succeed. But the kitchen is the weak spot that's going to put them in jeopardy. Our last experience was just unacceptable. For us the premise is simple. I'm a so-so cook right. When I go out to eat I expect it to be better than what I can make (which isn't saying much). But even my Home Ec level cookery couldn't mess pasta up this bad. We really want them to succeed. The kitchen is faltering, not the front floor staff who are workin' it big time. After recently moving to Georgetown, I've been wanting to find the local spots to check out and that journey led me to the Red Door Kitchen. The owner Bill gave his recommendations for both breakfast and lunch. I ended up going with the breakfast and ordered The Goomba with a side of their sausage gravy for the biscuit. This wasn't just a meal, this was an experience! This is the breakfast plate diners can only dream of. Everything was amazing and the biscuit with gravy was the star of the show. I've eaten at the wise guys in Round Rock and enjoyed it and I've been meaning to try this place. Had some friends in town and we were looking up local restaurants and reading reviews and 100% when we saw the responses to some negative reviews and found them absolutely hilarious we decided we really needed to come check this place out. After we were seated we asked if by any chance the person who was responsible for responding to reviews was in, and shortly were greeted by the owner, had a very nice conversation with him and got the backstory on his take on how to respond to idiot customers. I can say that even if he can't. But he doesn't really hold back much lol. For anyone considering a meal at this venue, if you have a problem with any part of your meal, not that I think you will, but hypothetically, just let them know and it will be made right times two or three. That's just the way he does business. But these internet want to be food critics who don't say a word then go home and barbecue the restaurant in the reviews without ever having given them a chance to fix it just piss me off at a primal level. Anyway, we got the loaded house tater tots and cheesesteaks which were great and talked at length about some other menu items that I really want to try in the future. Their lasagna and chicken parm in particular. So five stars all the way around from this guy, definitely be back. Also just realized that you serve breakfast on the weekends so really looking forward to that as well. They didn't use low-fat vegan soy bacon, and I'm pretty sure that the rash that I developed 3 days later was a direct result of the soap they had in the bathroom that was non-GMO or hypoallergenic. First time and it was very tasty. Our service was excellent and our waitress actually seemed like she enjoyed her job. (Which seems rare these days.) She was so joyful. We got the lasagna and the Italian beef sandwich. Both were delicious. I ordered the sandwich "wet" which I probably would do the au jus in the side next time. The lasagna side was a side salad. It's a very very small side salad but given the serving of lasagna, that was okay. It was very large. Not a typical pretty layered version but it was delicious nonetheless. The sandwich came with fries which while very nicely cooked lacked flavor and seasoning. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and decor. I grew up not too far from Chicago and Detroit so it was a nice throwback to those times. We'll definitely be back and can't wait to try whatever else they have to offer. Oh... almost forgot. Aside from his awful attitude and responses to people, the food all tastes reheated or microwaved. Straight out of a jar and bland. Maybe Bill learned his cooking skills from a hospital or retirement home cafeteria? As others mentioned this place is a dump and Bill makes it even worse. A Real Chicago born and bred Musician from the Windy! The Red Door and Wiseguys are the real deal. I have had most of the items they serve, and all are spot on. People, the Italian Beef and Italian Sausage sandwiches served, are exactly what they are supposed to be. If you never had one before, do not order it by doneness. In Chicago we would tell you GTFOH! These are exactly the way I have eaten them over 60 years. The Chicago Dog, and even the Pizzaburger are precisely made like back home. You want a Chicago meal without the plane ticket? Being from Chicago, I appreciate the try here. It ain't Portillos, in fact, it's a sit down an order restaurant rather than fast food joint. Long story short, I had a bowl of spaghetti with 2 meatballs. The sauce seemed jarred and the meatballs didn't scream home made...pretty plain. My wife got the Italian beef with onion rings. The beef is 20% smaller than Portillos, and the onion rings were served cold. Quality was a concern overall. Our bill was $40, $20 per dish. Way too expensive for the food quality served. If prices were more reasonable, we would have tried again in a month while running errands or on our way to a ball game. read more

I love the Red Door. The food and service is second to none. My husband and I go there at least once a week not including take out. We Love Miguela; she is the best. She makes us feel so welcome every time we come in . Her serving skills are professional, thoughtful and conscientious. Her smile and demeanor is infectious. I look for her every time we go.
