Craving Raising Cane's but with none nearby and a kiddo who only eats tenders, we decided to give this place a try. My wife was especially excited--she's been wanting gizzards for a while (not sure why!), but I stuck to non-organ as I am a normal human being. I ordered the tender value meal with corn-on-the-cob, a kids meal with fries, and a liver/gizzards combo for her. The tenders were pretty small and honestly a bit sad. The corn wasn't stale but was super mediocre, and the fries were among the blandest I've ever had--definitely down there with the worst. As for the gizzards, my wife actually enjoyed them! She found the liver a bit too pungent but liked the gizzards overall. A couple of other things to note: the bathroom had no paper towels, and the floors throughout the restaurant were kind of sticky. On the plus side, the service was super nice. The cashier was incredibly helpful, patient, and considerate in explaining the menu to us, which I really appreciated. All in all, though, the food leaves a lot to be desired, especially the tenders. There are definitely better ones almost anywhere else. I used to travel to Texas once a year as a kid and practically grew up on Bush's chicken. Every time I come to Texas now, I just gotta have it! This was the closest Bush's chicken from the Austin airport, so I stopped by here for lunch. It's a fast casual chain with several locations throughout Texas. Basically you order at the cashier and find a table once your order is ready. The employee was super friendly and patient. I got the Dragon Lunch Special that's only available Mon - Fri 10am - 3pm. It comes with 3 crispy tenders, gravy, roll and a 20oz Soda or 32oz Tea (I got the sweet iced tea). The chicken tenders were crispy and they're so yummy when you dip it in the gravy! I love adding honey on the roll. I got fries as my side, and they are your typical thin crinkle fries. The inside is clean and it was filled with high school students when I arrived. There must be a school nearby. I will definitely return the next time I'm in the area! read more

Tried reaching out through social media but they abandoned their accounts. Went on Feb 5, 2025 and was greeted by a person in a blue shirt. I ordered a 2 piece meal and provided my sides, and also ordered a 3 piece meal with sides. They wanted my card, and brought my full order, or so I thought. I got home to find out that I paid for the 3 piece meal sides separately and not a meal. This was almost $5 extra that was useless and was thrown away. I ended up have to go to whataburger (closer to home) to get additional food. This was an additional hour for round trip and waiting and additional $16. Overall less than pleased and their lack of response through Facebook, email and such is very telling. If you're not going to use social media remove the presence (delete the accounts). This could have been avoided had the person taking the order wrote it down and read it back. Would rather have dealt with this out of public but here we are. Past several times we did order the pieces were smaller and were a little chewy and dry. Drinks have had more ice than beverage. With the cost of orders compared with other fast food the value isn't here. read more

Thought we'd gotten lucky when we drove into the parking lot, not seeing many cars. Silly me... got around the building to find 3 to-go lines around back. Figuring it was to be an all day event, and with my amazing skill to pick the slowest line everywhere, so I picked the one in the shade The Bush's runners did a GREAT job working through the crowd of us with smiles, care and we got our food pretty quickly and motored home. I haven't been treated so poorly in a long time! I'm usually a big fan of bushs, but today i got there, only 2 car ahead of me, and carhops helping each one. One car finished up in a couple of minutes but the carhop didn't come back out. I say and sat. Then and old guy came out and went to his car. I figured he was done working for the day. He looked right at me as he walked past me to his car. I sat and sat. The one carhop still helping the other car. Finally a couple of more cars pulled up. I was in the middle lane so they pulled beside me. Then the old guy came back and went to the car with the lady that came after me! Are you kidding me!! Im done with that location. Yesterday was the second time I've placed an order online (@ https://bushsatx.com/) for the 1410 Round Rock Ave location. After submitting the order along with my credit card info as message is displayed, "Your order has been successfully processed! An email has been sent to you with your order details." The screen shows the order number and the pick-up time. I never received the confirmation email (yes, I checked my spam folder). I drove to the store and told them I'd placed an only order and gave them my name. The guy comes back out to the car and tells me they have no online orders and asks if I ordered from a different store. "No, I selected this location." I went it to show the manager the screen shots of the order I'd placed. She said, "We'd need to see the confirmation email." I told her I never received that and she said, "Sorry, there's nothing we can do." She refused to look at my screen shots and told me that no one uses the online order service and that it is run by a different company. She said if I'd just ordered at the store they'd already have it ready. I ended up paying a second time at the store for the same order. When I got home I checked my credit card statement. Fortunately, there was only one charge (the one at the store). Most places encourage customers to order online, but not this place. The chicken is pretty good, but I take offense the hassle I had to go through and shaming I endured for using Bush's online service. The take-away: NEVER use https://bushsatx.com/ to order your chicken. If you do, you will be very sorry. read more

My family likes to stop by here pretty regularly and enjoy the chicken strips. It's a very convenient meal to pick up to go (they have a triple drive thru) that the whole family likes. And sometimes we do stay and eat in the dining area. The chicken strips are always pretty tasty. Occasionally a little salty, but that's part of the deliciousness. The rolls are good! My kids love that they have large bottles of honey on the table! The fries are fine. Most all the sides are pretty good. The family pack meal deal is a pretty good value and we usually have a few leftovers that we munch on later. The staff has always been courteous, even if sometimes service feels a little slow. The ladies that work the drive thru lane do always seem to have it together and running smoothly. The facility is clean and on the whole a nice establishment. I'm sure we'll be dining on Bush's Chicken again soon. read more

Originating out of Waco, by Keith Bush, who has apparently sold out to Hammock Partners LLC, which is headquartered in Austin, Bush's Chicken is using the slogan; "Fried Chicken Doesn't Get Any Better Than This". I got news for you boys, it does, starting at my house. That's a whole new argument though. Located right beside the car wash and a Sonic, and across from RR High, Bush's is conveniently located on the busy trek of RR 620. I've eaten here several times, and, each time I have been greatly disappointed. I'm not sure why I've never reviewed them before now. I ignored this chain for a year or more, until tonight. I realized that there are so many businesses around me that I frequent, but, I never (or rarely) check in or review. Let this be the year of improvement. When Bush's first opened, I went through the drive-thru and got us some chicken and fries. They put the chicken on top of the fries in the same box. What you ended up with was soggy limp fries and greasy bland chicken. I was never impressed with the chicken and fries here. They use the crinkle fries that you would expect to be all things crisp, but, they are limp as all get out. As for the chicken? Seriously? Here is a quote from their web site: "Our sacred mission is to serve the best fried chicken in our markets. Our high quality fresh chicken, proprietary marination mixes, batter, and cooking techniques are unmatched in the industry." Oh baby, they got that all wrong! I went through the drive-thru today and got us some legs and breasts and, of course, fries. They have separated the fries from the chicken by putting them in a separate bag. Still the same ole soggy limp fries that will make you wanna fry slap someone! The chicken seems to have gotten greasier, saltier, and, still lacks of flavor. I picked up my breast to have a bite and the damn thing disintegrated! The skin slid off as I was biting down causing me to damn near drop my breast. The meat was so salty, greasy, bland, and, somehow dry. Eeew. Hands down, the worst chicken and fries I have ever eaten. Been in Round Rock for eleven years and Bush's Chicken "was" the place to go for great Fried Chicken. My last two visits have been not so good. Both times my order has been incomplete, and/or not what I ordered. Once you get you home they know you are not driving back so you get what you get. This last time I ordered 8 piece dark meat. When I got home they included two dried up breasts which I threw away. Also included were two dried up wings. This same thing happened to me my previous visit. That's two strikes and not sure if I will ever go back for strike three!!! read more

The chicken here is too salty so I'd say it's a solid 2/5 but i don't like how they charge extra for sauces here, might as well charge me extra for the box and the napkins in the bag too. Honestly raise the price of your chicken by 35 cents and give me all the sauces I want because if they want to nickel and dime me for sauces I'll go to any other chicken place in Austin. Their happy hour menu has the cinnamon apple pie as the same price during non happy hour, do they think we can't read... I asked her how she could tell the difference between a "good" chicken liver versus a "bad" one since they all taste bad, would you believe that she disagreed with me? The Yelper who yelped 'Sweet Baby Jesus!' was absolutely right! Probably the best crunchy chicken thighs I've tasted thus far. Mom and I also had crunchy fried okra and it was fabulous. I have also never seen a chicken place, not to mention a non-pancake restaurant, serve honey sauce at your table. Tried combining it with ketchup and hot sauce, dipped the chicken...it was heavenly. I really hate to do this but I had to give a low rating not because of the food but because of the service. Yes it was that bad! Just discovered that Austin area has Bushs and I have traveled two hours from Houston to get this chicken before. On my initial visit items were missing so I called and was told my name would be in book to replace items. I went back a couple of days ago and had a young man walk up to register and then just look at me. No hello can I help you nothing. I just started speaking because it was getting uncomfortable staring at one another. The manager came and got my name and went to replace items. I told the guy I'd place my order while we waited. He then said would you like to place order while you wait. I said yes that's what I just said: we are still looking though. He said oh I was just saying you can order while you wait. I repeated myself and said yes that's what I said. He said again! Well do you want to place your order while you wait?! I asked him if he was in a hurry and was I holding him up. He said no well yes and no but ok. I said then I'll wait on someone who has time to take my order. He then mumbled something under his breath and giggled. I asked what was said and he said nothing. Do you want to order? I said not from you, don't want to hold you up. The manager came back and I told her I'd like to place order with someone who I'm not holding up. He then got amnesia and said I didn't say that. Ummm you just did and my grandson confirmed for the manager. She took my order and he walked away to talk about us to his coworkers. Right there. While I was standing there. In front of whole restaurant. "Manager" did nothing. As I got my order I asked her for his name. She said oh I've got it. I said that's fine but what's his name? She said well I'm the manager I'll take care of it. I said you're not the manager I spoke to last week in Any case I still want his name/ she refused hut after five times finally said Jordan. Well Jordan and miss manager both need help in how to deal with customers. That was utterly ridiculous. And so unnecessary. On a positive note the chicken was tasty as usual, as was the okra, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. I'm not a bread girl but even the rolls were hot and fresh.
