Spectacular service. Excellent birthday meal - we will be back! Kiddo's 14th birthday and he wanted a good burger and guacamole. Jack Allen's we said! The Fat Jack is always amazing! The crispy chicken sandwich was so flavorful, the crispy redfish was huge and delicious and their kids tenders were thoughtful and not just junk food. Their sweet potato fries and regular fries were excellent. The kids had sparkling blueberry lemonade mocktails and loved them. Mama added their habanero sauce to her fish and LOVED it. The guacamole is always excellent and (score) on Mondays they have happy hour all evening so we got it 1/2 price. They brought him a birthday dessert (he chose the blondie) and the family loved it. I have been a fan of Jack. Allen's restaurants since the beginning. I've truly never had better, more consistent service anywhere else I have ever gone. These folks really know how to do service exceptionally well. For our anniversary, the staff even signed a card for us and had a gift waiting as well! Food is also so very delicious. Consistently. I've tried so many different things on the menu. Their pimento cheese is hands-down my favorite and really the only that I eat. Their chicken fried chicken with that delicious gravy is definitely worth a go. My longtime favorite has always been there chorizo stuffed medallions. Holy moly. I love the farm to table concept and how it supports communities near ours. Had a great late lunch at J.A. after a shopping trip. Sat at the bar. The lunch crowd was lively. Decided on fried green tomatoes and the Crispy Gulf Redfish. The green tomatoes were good. Not really seasoned but the slaw and sauce more than made up for it. The reddish meal was more than enough. It was well seasoned and a very creative dish. Everything about it was good. Im not a big fan of zucchini but it added to the meal. I ate it all. Will definitely consider this meal again. read more

Took the family to Jack Allens Kitchen in Hutto, one of my favorite places to dine. Very nice restaurant with convenient parking in the garage next door. It is located in Hutto just off of Highway 79 by the silo. We arrived at 5:30 for an early dinner and although the restaurant was not busy, we had to wait for a table. We were then seated in a booth and greeted by our waiter, who provided menus and took our drink orders. I ordered my favorite, which is the sweet chili shrimp asian noodle salad. It includes sautéed shrimp, spinach, cold, Asian noodles, shaved, red, onions, cherry tomatoes, avocado, toasted almonds, with a creamy sweet chili dressing. It is delicious. Highly recommend it if you're in the mood for a nice seafood salad. Service was not up to standard this visit. My grandson asked for a water to go with his Coke and buttermilk dressing for his burger, but we had to request them twice before the waiter brought them. Jack Allen's kitchen is the best restaurant in the Round Rock/Hutto area. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out on a fine dining experience. read more

I went with a large group And the staff was so kind and patient. We went on a Friday night so you can imagine how busy it was, but they made it feel like we were the most important. We ordered appetizers, drinks, and entrees. The jalapeño cornbread was delicious and a great shareable! The chips and guacamole are also a good option, especially for a large group. The mocktails were pretty good as well. For dinner I had the blacken shrimp enchiladas and it did not disappoint. It is so filling and if you want you could take a good portion home. You just can't go wrong coming here. We came in here from work, my entire department and enjoyed great food, laughs, and delicious deserts. The service is always great! And the oracle itself is inviting and great for intimate gatherings or group ones like ours. Some of the people never had been to this location as they came from Dallas. I've lived in the Austin metro area for many years but had yet to try Jack Allen's Kitchen. I was surprised by how fresh and affordable everything was. The ambiance felt very warm and inviting. Our server (can't remember his name unfortunately) was very helpful in recommending items on the menu. Things we had: Jalapeño Crab dip: So good!! We shared one order between 3 people and wish we had more, so something to consider if you're a larger party. Pimiento Cheese: it was our first time so our waiter brought us a sample of this and I really liked it! It was creamy and flavorful. 13 spiced chicken pasta: overall, this dish was okay. The sauce was absolutely delicious and the chicken was grilled to perfection. However, their noodles (red pepper and spinach linguine) kind of had an odd taste. I will say it got better as I ate more (maybe my taste buds were adjusting?) but I would likely not get this again unless they offered regular linguine as a substitute. Fried pork chop: my husband really enjoyed this meal. I stole a few of his sweet potato fries and those might have been the best sweet potato fries I've ever had! We also tried their frozen margarita (as apart of their all day happy hour on Mondays) - they were really good and strong! Went for my birthday, but have returned a few times since then. The spinach ravioli is my go to, but their hamburgers and chicken sandwhich are also good options. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming and they give you free dessert on your birthday. The dessert did not disappoint! The bread was probably the best part of the meal, I would go back just for the bread. Jack Allen's is one of my favorite places to dine. I have been to 3 different ones here in the greater Austin area and all are wonderful. The service is really good. Sometimes you may need to wait, however the time they tell you is pretty accurate. Today was really good. No waiting and our server was excellent. The interior is inviting and clean. I always look over the menu and order a few different items. If I can't decide I will get the soup and salad...it never disappoints. Today, I ordered the Steak and Eggs. Another excellent meal. There was plenty of flank steak spiced just right and covered with cheese. The Enchilada was easy to cut and the eggs were done as I asked. Usually, I never order dessert, but today it sounded good. I had a Berry Cobbler with ice cream. The Cobbler was still hot when it arrived and was done with perfection. It was quite large and I shared it with my dinner mate. Tried this place again and it struck me as super strange that my waitress was wearing gloves to take my order, however, the person in the back making the salad was not. I had ordered a salad before I noticed that I could see the guy making the salad was not wearing any gloves and handling food with his bare hands. We stopped in here just for drinks as that was really our main thing over this relaxing weekend. We let our server, Helen, know up front that was all we were doing. She was very upbeat and personable. Super helpful and did talk us into a dessert. We where in a booth and this was the downside. The side of the booth i was in was rocking and you could feel a bar or something similar when you sat down. I went to move to the other side, the whole bench came off, almost caught my legs. Helen tried to put it back together. It was bad, the other side was not broken but uncomfortable as well causing me pain sitting there. But the drinks were good and the dessert was fantastic. We love Jack Allen's Kitchen!! We first found this restaurant after going to the outlets in Round Rock. Now we occasionally make the trip out to Aldi and go to Jack Allen's first! Our first time in we sat at the bar and our bartender was so sweet and welcoming. They had a special over the summer on Sundays and Mondays from 3-close that included $5 frozen margaritas and $5 queso. We got both on first visit and seriously loved the margaritas. You could add a floater for only $1 and I added mezcal. What a great frozen marg! The chunky queso is my fiance's favorite. I added the salsa for $1 and enjoyed it with their fresh chips. The salsa is smoky and fresh - I really like it! That special has ended, but they usually have some kind of deal. We recently visited for buy one get one sandwiches - I got the veggie burger and my fiance got the pimento chicken sandwich. For entrees I really recommend any of the fish dishes. The ruby red trout salad is delicious (and a huge portion of fish). I've also tried their redfish dinner special and it was amazing. Everything we've tried here is so good and the service is always great. It's kind of a random dinner spot for us, but we keep going back because it is just so good every time! read more

We go to Jack Allen's once as week but it is the only spot in the RR/gtown area that checks all the boxes: consistently and reliably good and high quality, affordable, big portions, fantastic service, classy ambiance, easy parking, not loud. They have a blend of classic American, new American and Mexican cuisine which is great because each person in our group has lots of options. All of their dishes are truly fantastic in farm to table ingredients, seasoning/flavor, texture--you can tell their chefs are trained with a standard of excellence. I really can't choose a favorite dish bc they're all so delicious in their own way so it just depends on what mood you're in. So far we've had: Barbacoa enchiladas, fish tacos, Jack burger, chicken fried steak, beef tacos and they were all phenomenal. Don't forget to read their whiskey menu. Everything about Jack Allen's is a win. The food is always amazing. I never get the same thing twice because I want to try it all. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly, accommodating and informative. Love the restaurant's farmhouse like ambiance as well, it really puts a nice touch on their farm to fork approach. Highly recommend, always! Visited for a quick lunch with friends and I loved it so much that I've been back since just for the Chicken Fried Chicken. Service has been wonderful and attentive on both occasions. When seated they bring a little plate with their Pimento Cheese spread and crackers to sample. I'm not really a fan of pimento cheese but I still thought it was good. The second time I visited it just so happened to be during their Happy Hour where they had 1/2 priced appetizers and drink specials! Everything I've tried and or those with me have tried has been absolutely delicious. I personally love the Chicken Fried Chicken ($14.99) which comes with Mashed Potatoes, sautéed veggies and is smothered in their gravy. I've also been able to taste the Fat Jack Burger (which is wonderful!) and their Fried Shrimp both of which was soo tasty. I was pleasantly surprised when the first thing the waiter did was leave a plate of the pimiento cheese appetizer. This is what I was wanting to order and it's like he read my mind! It was a small portion, though, so I still had a big appetite and ordered the spinach gorgonzola pasta. It paired so well with the dipping bread and I wished for never-ending pasta. Of the several entrees we enjoyed, this was my favorite entree of the meal. The migas were Texas style, making them different from traditional Mexican migas. Jack Allen's Kitchen cooks them with giant tortilla chunks the size of nacho chips. I was a little disappointed by this, but the flavor was decent. The chocolate dome cake was small with an extremely rich flavor. I was glad I shared it with my family. I will return to Jack Allen's Kitchen! read more

It's fine. I really don't understand other people's enjoyment of this place. Like it's fine, but that's it. The food is ok, nothing great or innovative or special. The price point is fine. The service is standard and the space is clean. But that's basic? Our server was nice enough, but it seemed to take her forever, even when we first got there and the restaurant wasn't particularly full. This, of course, didn't get any better once more people came in. When you're seated they do bring little plates with like a tiny scoop of pimento cheese and like three crackers on them. I wasn't sure the point of that. I took a bite out of curiosity, both were pretty plain. You could get a similar bite from a Sun chip and a jar of pimento cheese spread. I ordered the vegetarian tacos and they do not come preassembled. They literally fold up a few tortillas and set them on the side of your plate so you get the fun of scooping the veggie mix and whatever else into your tortillas. That's just weird, I don't want to do that. There are also not many vegetarian options, I do think the tacos are or can be made vegan, but I am not certain. The guacamole comes with pumpkin seeds for some reason, ask for it without them, it'll be better. read more

Restaurant is clean and spacious and our server was very helpful and attentive. For starters we had the house made pimento cheese and crackers - quite good! Landed at Jack Allen's last night with my neighborhood ladies group of about 25 people. What a great experience! We were early enough to catch the 1/2 price appetizers for happy hour, so I ordered a barbacoa stackers plate & a small Caesar salad & it was olenty for dinner! Our server was great too! Hubbers' college frat mate and his wife made their move to central Texas a couple of years ago and we promised that at anytime we're nearby, we'd stop by. A promise we kept. They gave us options where to grub, but we left it up to them to choose (since they're locals and all) and that's how we ended up here. We had reservations so we were seated quickly. (It's a good thing, too, because this place was poppin'!) The decor gave off a very Southwestern feel, almost a modern rustic vibe. They had interesting offers - American and Tex-Mex sorts type of food. They had really good pickin's and it took me a minute to finally decide. SOUP OF THE DAY: Tortilla. The broth was seasoned so good! I'm not sure if it was love or crack (prolly love) put in this but it was delish. It was very hearty and gave me fuzzy feelings. Recommending. SMASHED GUACAMOLE: Highly recommended by our hosts, and I get why. The trick is putting all the characters together in one bite. The taste and the texture is amazing! The chips were fresh and crispy. Great starter! BLACKENED TROUT: Our server was really good at breaking down the sauce used for the fish. It's a sweet and savory - a little bit more on the sweet side - but the pickled onions and arugula helped tame its sweetness. Fish was moist and flaky. The rice, like the toppings, also helped tame the sweetness. Although I wasn't a fan of the sweetness part (but that's just me, sweets anything really isn't my vibe), I enjoyed it. FOOD: 4.5. Sadly this Jack Allen's food standards aren't as good as the Cedar Park. I am not going to go into a tons of details but I can say my fav dish with chicken and blue crab has gone down hill since I 1st tried it a few years ago and every time I order it I ask why I did mainly from the Cedar Park. In this case the chicken was about as tough as it could be before calling it jerky and the biggest biggest issue was the after taste from the potato pancake side. My co part had the same dish she said she would try it this time since we forgot about happy hour and lets just say she wasn't happy, I wasn't to see if her plate had the same nasty after taste mine had and sure enough it was the potato pancake side. I told the server who told the manager and she checked with the kitchen only to tell us they had swapped out the thing they scoop it out of already and she thinks we got the bottom of the bin.. So we paid for a meal that was poorly made using the the what's left in the holding pans int he kitchen .... Nice cooks should be ashamed and maybe need to try a spoonful of the food more often to see what they are serving. I expected a tad bit higher standard from the place and I know it was early, or before 5 PM but don't serve it if it's old and clearly from most of the items we ate they have been sitting around, sample chip was like a rock, the chip and salsa, the chips was kinda hard the main meal tough and old, the only thing that saved it was the sauce, but I wonder what made my tum ache an our later...
