First time at Jack Allen's Kitchen...Hutto, TX (right outside of Austin, TX). I am generally a a big fan of Jack Allen's and have dined at every Jack Allen's in Austin and Round Rock, TX. This location is large with a modern twist. The restaurant also an outdoor patio, which will be great for summer dining. My sorority had a special event at Jack Allen's today. The menu included guacamole, salsa/chips. crispy chicken flautas, crunchy catfish with slaw, smoked barbacoas quesadillas, and fried green tomatoes. Due to my fast the only think I could have was the guacamole without cheese, which was so nicely parsed out for me. With that said, this location food quality did not appear at the same level as other locations. While the event went well, I likely will not return to this location as its very far from home.

Great experience, clean dining room, bright lights, and amazing staff. Ordered the chicken gumball bowl to go and what I really like about it is that the gumbo is not really salty, but it has a great ballad between salt and earthy. Strong tomato, beef flavor, along with shredded chicken and chopped vegetables. Very nice fresh gumbo. I did wish it had thick cuts of sausage to make it a gumbo and more rice but overall great gumbo. I also decided to try the pork tenderloin, soft, tender fall off the fork pork. The meat taste like it was wrapped to make it circular so when you cut it, it falls apart. The brown sauce has a nice moisture add, sweet and beefy sauce, can't really taste the white sauce on top. Capital B for buttery whipped smashed potatoes. Jack Allen's potato game is strong, lovely lovely smash potatoes, thick pieces with the red skin on, love that. The mac and cheese is also yummy, I really like th bigger shell shaped shells, it tends to hold on to more cheese sauce and the shells add a nice soft cheesy taste to the pork meal. The chicken on top of the Mac and cheese was dry, I wasn't a fan of the chicken on top, it isn't a meal it's considered a side but priced as a meal. They should offer shrimp or scallops on top instead of dry chicken. Overall great experience will come back again.

WHO IS Jack Allen??? I want to shake his hand and commend him on some amazing farm to table consistency! This is the 5th I've been too of his 6 restaurants aka mouth pleasure centers. When you have a hometown favorite it's always scary when they expand..but the food quality, the service, and the atmosphere somehow transcend geographic separation and they all still feel like home. Starting off with Marvelous Matt, this man not only slings food but is responsible for every tables perfectly crafted drink order, made timely and delicious. Leading his team, he worked with the waitress and their orders, chatted with customers, and made it look like there was no place he'd rather be. Such a great happy hour! All appetizers are 1/2 off and remain their normal huge portion size. Literally a meal and at a price you can some of everything and not break the bank! Always a fav, the Barbacoa Stackers are a meal of their own! Double Stacked tostadas with a layer of refried black beans and another of Barbacoa.topped with their slaw. Pro tip, don't forget their house made Serrano or Habanero Sauce...it's literally fire in a bottle! New to the appetizer menu I had the Shrimp Tostada Bites! PERFECTLY cooked and seasoned shrimp riding a tostada of guacamole! These morsels of goodness will have you feeling like you're on the coast. It's not bacon wrapped quail, but it's a great addition to the menu! You absolutely cannot beat the value and service and food! ***Veteran Friendly! Veterans Eat Free 11:00-15:00 on Veterans Day!***

Let me preface the 5 stars with the clear understanding that this is rating an American joint in Hutto Texas based off environment, service, and what I was looking for in food. Not a fine dining experience. With that said, they put so much flavor in this chicken sandwich that it's hard for me to explain. I normally order these with the exactly expectation of what this would taste like but this blew me out of the water. The fries were solid and their salsa is delicious. The happy hour menu is incredible with smoking deals on drinks. I'm a HUGE fan of Jack Allen's kitchen. Jennifer served us and did a great job of making us feel taken care of. Cheers!

Have you ever walked into a restaurant with your entire crew dressed up as Sesame Street characters? I have, and the Jack Allen's in Hutto got to witness it. I've been to Jack Allen's only a handful of times, and this was the first time I was coming for a full meal. Upon arrival at their beautiful pond-facing location in the Hutto Co-Op District, we only had to wait about 10 minutes before getting a table. They had pumpkins made by the waitstaff to vote on, with a lot of cool designs. The clear winner was the Little Shop of Horrors flytrap. We all ordered a drink from the bar, and I got a really great Spiced Apple Farmers Market Mule that had a slice of dried apple in it. Our waitress was dressed as Rainbow Brite and was super attentive to us the entire visit. For the main meal, I ordered the chicken sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. Upon receiving it, I realized it was not a hand food because it was an absolutely massive fried chicken breast inside the buns. Along with the patty was pimiento cheese, pickled green tomatoes, coleslaw, and their jalapeño mayo. It was exactly what I dreamed it could be, and the sweet potato fries were perfectly crispy. It was a very simple experience but truly enjoyable and sold me on wanting to come back again. I truly think this is one of the best sit-down restaurants in Hutto, and it makes sense why it's always packed in the evenings. Jack Allen's Kitchen was recommend by a good friend, so I had to go. First thing I noticed was how neat and clean everything was! The surrounding area is well lit and easy to get to. Ray was my waiter and couldn't have been more helpful! He went over the menu and told me favorites and I appreciated it. I had the chips, salsa, guacamole and cheese dip as an appetizer. Very, very good Main course was the shrimp enchiladas. Yep, a little out of my comfort zone, but very good! I think at least 4 shrimp per enchilada. Served with rice, black beans and slaw. I would get it again! I can't stress how good the waiter was and even other waitresses stopping by to see if I needed anything. If you are ever in Hutto, go by Jack Allen's Kitchen. Go get Full!!

Fabulous food (as always,) fantastic server (Jennifer B?) and great decor for this new restaurant. We were celebrating a birthday and pre-Father's day. We were taken care of so well. We absolutely love Jack Allen's (all locations!) Definitely a repeater for us in Hutto!

Stopped in with a group of 7 of us around 3pm on a Saturday. Their brunch had just finished up so it was the regular menu. We were seated within 10 or so minutes on the outside patio. It's really nice and spacious and they put down the retractable shades since the sun was setting. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Literally everyone in our group loved everything that was ordered. The pimento cheese and crackers that they serve you as a starter are always a nice little snack. We got: pecan crusted chicken salad, burger, fish tacos, barbacoa quesadillas, and the crispy chicken sandwich. The salad is huge and filling and the dressing with the pieces of bacon is delicious and unlike any other dressing. The flavors of the pimento cheese, slaw and fried green tomato are perfect on the chicken sandwich. The fish tacos had just enough spice and the fish was blackened and fresh. Jack Allen's, no matter the location never disappoints. It's a solid choice for delicious fresh food with fair prices!

My friend and I had a great first experience at the new Hutto location (April 29th). We were able to grab spots at the bar top upon walking in and thought the two bartenders on duty that evening were great. I went for my go-to chicken nachitos and opted for a new dish I hadn't tried, Sweet Chili Shrimp & Noodle Salad. It was delicious and more than I could hope to finish in one sitting. The Mexican martini was also a great choice. There were several TVs at the bar for the sports watchers and plenty of tables throughout the restaurant!

Today is Veterans Day and I served from 68 to 72. Each year I receive a nice invitation from Jack Allen's and this year I went to the new location in Hutto. My wife and I went with another couple and we had reservations and were seated immediately. Tim, our waiter, greeted us and took our beverage orders while we looked at the menu.. Jack Allen had a special limited menu for veterans to choose their free entrée. I opted for the chicken fried chicken, which was delicious. It was served with mashed potatoes and gravy and mixed vegetables. My wife had a macaroni and cheese with chicken entrée which also was very tasty. I enjoyed an old-fashioned and a beer while we waited for the entrées to arrive. Service was great as usual. If you haven't tried the Hutto location, give it a try. We live on the eastern edge of Round Rock and the Hutto location is very convenient for us. We find that Jack Allen's is very consistent and very good overall. .

My family and I came here for dinner and our experience was amazing. Our wait was 15 to 20 minutes. We were able to sit outside in the patio and enjoy the nice weather and the view of the pond and water fountain. The weather wasn't too hot or chilly. We arrived here during happy hour and had like an hour left to enjoy the half off prices on drinks and appetizers. All of our drinks were amazing and were made just right. We ordered the nachochitos for our appetizer and it was delicious. My wife ordered the chorizo pork chops, my daughter and I ordered hamburgers. Everything was tasting delicious and amazingly fresh. For the burger the meat is normally cooked to medium but our waitress let us know and asked it was okay for us. So be aware and if medium cooked is not your thing then let them know when ordering your burger. Parking is a breeze because there is a huge parking garage right next to the restaurant. It has both elevator and stairs. Also, if you use Google maps, be aware it will misguide you towards the front of the COOP. Just make sure to the parking garage for parking.

This was a great visit. I went with a large group and the device was amazing from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately and the staff took our drink ordered immediately. They talked us through the menu options and asked about dietary restrictions. They were very attentive throughout even with the restaurant being busy. I ordered a mocktail which was very tasty as well as the braised short rib. It was tender and moist. I enjoyed the red wine sauce paired with it and the mashed potatoes and vegetables. I can't wait to return to try something new.

I sat with some co-workers at the bar area and tried some of the Brussels sprouts while sipping on their blonde and their Italian pilsner. They have definitely stepped it up on all fronts since the last time. I went when they were still getting things together, but now, with their head on their shoulders and a full beer distribution license, they actually have a lot of good things going for them. It is also cool that they have live music on Friday nights, but I am not going to lie, it is kind of blasting in there. I am glad they are still successful, as there was a wait to get in as we were leaving. In addition, the dining room, the bar, and the patio were all packed by 6:30 pm. Happy hour is nice because $5 pours of their beers is an excellent deal, and I will definitely be coming back for just a drink or two in the future without the need to order food. The place was fairly crowded, with a mostly family-oriented crowd and lots of young kids around. They have a small outdoor seating area with about 4-5 tables, along with a ship-themed play structure that was clearly a big hit with the kids. Inside, the vibe is more like a sports bar, with TV screens on the walls and an open seating layout with plenty of tables and chairs. Service was a bit slow to start--we waited around 20-25 minutes without anyone coming to take our order. However, once we mentioned it to a server, the manager stepped in promptly, apologized, and made sure our order was taken right away, which we appreciated. For drinks, I ordered the Girl Boss Pink Guava Hazy IPA, and my husband had the Hefepotamus Hefeweizen. We also tried the Texas Blueberry Old-Fashioned. All the drinks were fresh, flavorful, and very refreshing. We started with the Smoked Sweet Chili Wings and hummus with house-made pita chips. The wings paired perfectly with the beer. For the main course, we ordered the Nashville Yardbird and the Beer Can Chicken. The standout for us was the Nashville Yardbird--juicy, flavorful chicken with delicious sauces and a really well-balanced preparation. Overall, it was a good experience. Give it a try if you're in the Hutto area, especially for a casual outing with family.

Earlier this week, East Street Pizzeria announced on social media that they were closing up shop permanently. I feel at times guilty for things like this when I'm not the root cause. If only I came back more, they would've survived, but I probably would've just been more devastated at their closure. Hutto has a lot of pizza establishments. From the chains like Pizza Hut and Domino's to lesser-known locations like Mr. Gatti's and Double Dave's, as well as the locals Bella Sicilia and East Street, there are nine pizza establishments in the city limits and three in the ETJ. For a city with only one grocery store (also in the ETJ), it's a lot of competition. All of the chains are carry-out only and operate in a shotgun house sized unit in a strip. The only places you can actually eat a pizza are MOD and the two local establishments. East Street shows something that is plaguing Hutto: the overreliance on chain restaurants. Chains don't care if you skip them for a local place. A local place needs your business or they might shutter their doors forever. East Street itself is difficult real estate with the rent reportedly being high, meaning these small establishments have to operate at a high enough margin to survive in such a beautiful area. That's why so many businesses are opting for the Affordable Storage shopping area in the ETJ, because the barrier to entry is lower and actually allows them to survive. It's sad to see. I only ate at East Street Pizzeria once. When I was visiting Hutto before moving, I thought about going and trying their pizza (I love a local place), but it was completely empty, so I opted for another local place. A few months into living in Hutto, I went back with a co-worker during lunch. I got my slice and a salad, and I was impressed. It was your standard local affair (good local pizza is better than any chain), and the slice was cheesy and well done. I enjoyed it quite a bit. The owner was super attentive to us, and it was a quick and easy meal. I wanted to go back, but I never did. That's my fault. I haven't supported any chain pizza joints in Hutto, but I'm an outlier. If 12 (now 11) pizza establishments can exist in the Hutto area, maybe the consumer preference is out of whack. Support local, because local will always support you. RIP East Street Pizzeria. RIYL: Grieving since you can't actually go here.
