This visit I went with the Office favorite, which is egg salad with bacon... Simply delicious Service was outstanding... One of things I've come to love is the outrageous personality and customer interaction provided by the people behind the counter making your sandwich. My sub this visit was a little off from what I was expecting... This location is very convenient off the highway. The kid meals are such a great deal. My son and I really love subs and ThunderCloud Subs is at the top of our list. Great Gluten Free bread options and the prices here are great too. Even a double meat sandwich on a GF bun is better priced than most other shops. Be sure to check the community impact paper for coupons. That's the only reason we tried this place and now we go here all the time. Don't get oil on your GF bread. This is 100% my go to sub place ahead of anyplace else. Jimmy John's: too much bread, no flavor. Jersey Mikes: same. Which Wich: not what it once was. Subway: well it tried. I don't bother leaving a review for those places. They won't improve. I've never gotten a bad sandwich or had bad service. The staff as almost 100% odd Austinite: tattoos, ripped pants, blue hair...all normal and they craft the best sandwiches. They are patient with even the most undecided customer. Of course I favor the bologna and egg salad. A bit of an Elvis special but it's one of a kind. The soup is always fantastic, as long as I like it. I just can't stand tomato bisque but I've been told it's the best. My only complaint is that there aren't any near by. read more

I came into this location yesterday with the Things and a friend. We are no strangers to this Austin original establishment so we knew what we wanted to order before our feet hit the pavement. I ordered the smoked chicken sandwich and it was fresh and made just the way I asked it to be made. Usually when consumers come to any ThunderCloud location, they know that if there are a few consumers in front of them, it will take a little bit to get the order. The employees are very welcoming and courteous which definitely leaves a good, lasting impression on their customers. The interior seems blah. Nothing special. Seemed disjointed. Poor atmosphere. No branding. If I opened a sandwich shop and only had $1000 this is what it would look like. Sandwich options seems simple and minimal. I swear last time I was at one of these they had more or maybe it was presented better. Ordered a New Yorker. Chips and a Strawberry smoothie. This location of TS is always busy and always efficient. I don't know how they do it, but I have never had to wait very long. I prefer to call in my order and they have it ready within ten minutes. I love that they have a few vegan options available. I can get the Veggie Delight with hummus and avocado, which is very filling and full of fresh veggies including their sliced mushrooms, super-thin onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and black olives. I prefer to add the hot pepper relish for a nice zing. The Nada Chicken features their vegan chicken strips and is served hot. I can't believe I have not reviewed this place with the frequency that I eat here. I love this place. The folks working here are always ready with the friendly chatter as they make sandwiches. As a regular of the location, I have found them all the more friendly. They recognize me and greet me like an old friend. Makes me feel pretty good about going back and tipping well. The stuff they use is always delicious and fresh. Their bread is great stuff but it doesn't overpower the sandwich. The flavors of the meat are nice and taste good either together in a combo sandwich or on their own. I love to watch for the weekly specials to find something new to try. This is how I got the honey to try the Veggie Delight that I was not ready to try yet. I love to get the tuna or the American Classic or The Club, but there are so many others. This location recently got in some new tables and chairs that look great and make it a nicer dining experience. I'm not longer concerned about the safety of my plastic chair breaking beneath me. The music they play here has also become more appropriate for the atmosphere, if there is such a thing in a sandwich shop. I will continue to frequent this spot, weekly if not more. So this is one of those reviews where I say if I could give zero stars I would. This is the closest location to me but they have let me down more times than I can count now and I have had it! Granted, we like to order sandwiches on a Sunday night but there really is no acceptable excuse for a SANDWICH SHOP to run out of BREAD! My husband and I started going to the Pflugerville location because this has happened to us so many times. This time I ordered at this location by mistake. I thought I was ordering from Grand Avenue Parkway. This had been occurring since before the pandemic shutdown so what is that? At least 6 months? So we go in today to pick up our order, an online, PREPAID order and we are late by about 20 minutes because we went to the wrong location. I walk in and the table does not have our order on it. There are two young men working. Someone had just walked out with an online order and they were waiting to make a shake for another lady with an online order. She walks in and they make her shake right away. At first I am told that he doesn't see an order for me at all. Then I am told, "sorry we ran out of bread". Expecting to pick up two sandwiches and they got nothing for me?! The guy in charge says we can just keep your credit and you can come and get your sandwiches another day. I say, "that was our dinner tonight, you want us to skip dinner?" I am seething! He then says so what can I do? I have him make me a large tunafish salad salad and they put my husband's meatballs and cheese in a takeaway container. No call beforehand to say "Hey we ran out of bread, so what can we get you instead?" NO! I show up and there is no food prepared for us! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! We both ordered the club all the way and i had to try the chocolate elvis...chocolate yogurt, 2% milk and bananas...it was the star of the show. Husband was here tonight ordering subs for us on his way home. There was a line and a family in front of him. He asked for lettuce and they said they don't have any.....( there was a whole bin) he asks if they can use that , they advise no it's for salads...he proceeds to talk to the family in front of him of a similar story at Quicktrip. The manager ( I say that loosely) comes and starts yelling at my husband saying to quit talking to him he's 16. He then says he was talking to the kids not him ( there was a dad and to kids who looked 12) they where engaging in the conversation with my husband and the dad was smiling. He proceeds to cuss at my husband and say he's not welcomed and quit harassing his customers.. he wasn't harassing he was conversing because they where busy, people where pissed and he was trying to ease the tension. He then goes and runs away to the back. When comes time to ring up he gives us the food for free and says he's not welcomed and then walks away. The kid making our sandwiches didn't ask what we wanted and assumed . I don't know if lettuce was a sore subject but that's not how you treat customers and especially cuss them out for doing nothing wrong! Figured he didn't want us to pay because of a paper trail. But he does not need to be a manager if he can't handle himself like one. Corporate will be called. Watch out if you go here and it's busy!
