My hubby ordered food from there Friday. The best thing they have is their ice. His tenders were very light, not golden brown and not done in the middle. I got an order of livers for my dog and I to share. The bag was soaked with grease. They had a green color to them and also were not done. Disgusting... I don't eat there often, but never will again. This is comfort food done right. The chicken is consistently perfect at this location of Bush's chicken. The skin has just the right amount of crispy crunchy and the chicken meat underneath has the perfect amount of juicy moist tenderness. I love the Popeyes, but they do serve me some burned chicken sometimes and that's just no fun for anyone. The sides are awesome too from the okra (my personal favorite) to the mac and cheese, fries and corn on the cob. The rolls are light, fluffy and pair perfectly with the fried chicken. The food here would never be mistaken for a health tonic, but it is rich in vitamin taste. It's a salve to both the stomach and to the soul. The service is efficient and friendly. We've seen some of the same faces here for years. It speaks highly of the management, whom we've seen in action on a few occasions. He treats his employees with kindness and respect. We never eat here we normally go to Church's BUT they were closed yesterday for what ever reason and we decided to try it. The staff were so busy in the drive thru, that has THREE LANES BTW! Decent fried chicken joint. It reminds me of Popeyes. All pieces are fried to perfect crispiness. Fries are thin cut and good. Fried okra is also very good. The chicken and the batter are a bit bland. Wish they would marinade the chicken better and long or added more seasoning to the batter and the meat. I'm not a sweet tea person but their sweet tea really lives up to the hype. It's really worth being called "famous". The tea has a very unique strong tea flavor and perfectly sweetened. Their crushed ice makes it taste even better. The restaurant is bright and clean. The staff always wipe off each table every time someone leaves. However today I experienced extremely unpleasant treatment from a manager due to the fact that I came in with my 6 week old puppy in my arms to order to-go food. An experience at any Bush's Chicken drive-through is like a trip back in time. The signage is painted, and the carhops take orders the old-fashioned way. Service is usually fast at most locations, but this one I found disappointing in that regard. I was at the head of the line in the outside lane, and ignored for fully 10 minutes. No one came to take my order in that time, although the car is in adjacent lanes were receiving service. I had other food in the car getting cold, and remembered there was another Bush's along my flight path, so I went that-a-way instead. Sorry, guys. This is the epitome of southern hospitality when you hear people talk about it. Coming from the Bay Area, I hate to say that I have low expectations for any fast food joints. But coming to Bush's Chicken, it gave me an attitude check. The outside doesn't look like much, but if you drive around the building, there is a whole system for drive through orders and it is efficient! Huge space and enough room for turns so that trucks can also make it through without having to be sandwiched between the wall or other cars. There are 3 lanes for two go. Inside is what you would expect. Simple menu: fried chicken and sweet tea. I love some good ole fried chicken and Church's is my favorite. But being in Texas, I couldn't skip the opportunity to try Bush's and it was bussing (I think the younger generations say this now.) I wasn't extremely hungry when I stopped by, but since I was in the area, I had to at least grab a snack! Luckily they have individual and family meals, as well as a la carte deals. I got the 2pc mix with roll for 5.99 and added a side of liver and gizzards (4/$3.69), and a large 32oz sweet tea (1.19). Let me tell you, it was DIVINE. The chicken skin was crispy on the outside and the meat was juicy on the inside! It was perfectly seasoned, but on the table, you can sprinkle some more Bush's seasoning, which I honestly think is MSG based on the crystals. No complaints from me! The roll was warm. But lets talk about the gizzard and livers! I LOVE it so much, so it is so difficult to find these as options outside of Asian restaurants in California, let alone deep fried, seasoned, and with so much per order. So much gizzard and livers that you could eat. But make sure you have them first or right away because it doesn't taste the same once it gets cold. The sweet tea isn't Whataburger, but I loved it still the same. For that price, you also get unlimited refills and they use crushed ice. The staff were SO friendly and so efficient. Coming to places that primarily don't have much Asian people, I'm accustomed to getting weird looks coming to a place like Bush's and being so far away from downtown Austin. They looked fully staff and everybody was still busy. Food came out hot and quickly, while they managed the in dine guests, as well as the 3 lanes of to go orders. Super clean on the inside and surpassed my expectations of a fast food restaurant. Highly recommend Bush's if you're in the Cedar Park area (this is the better location)! read more

Bait & Switch on Chicken Livers. If you're getting chicken livers make sure they don't give you the old and dried out chicken livers that are as hard as a rock(they look a very dark brown all the way through). They're inedible and your only recourse, is to just throw them in the trash which is what I did. I just got back from Bush's Chicken like 10 minutes ago. I went inside to insure that the chicken livers were fresh. I was told they had just made some like 5 minutes ago and offered me a sample. I noticed that the older woman with short gray hair was picking through the livers, which I thought was kind of odd, if they were all just made recently. I tried the chicken liver sample and it was fresh, so I said go ahead with the order. I noticed again she was picking through the chicken livers which seemed really odd to me. I got home and they were all old hard as rock chicken livers along with lots of breading pieces. I don't know who is in charge of throwing out old and inedible food, but these should have clearly been thrown out a long time ago. It would seem that they put both new and old livers on the same tray. Which should not have been done in the first place. It is especially deceitful, since I took the time to go inside and ask for fresh livers. This is clearly not a way to run a business. read more

Pretty solid chicken! I ordered a 3 piece dark meal and was very impressed by how crispy the chicken was (and juicy inside) and the roll is to die for! Reminds me of some of the African sweet breads I used to eat as a child. Only gripe is that chicken itself is a tad bit too salty, but overall very tasty. I was impressed by how quickly I was able to get my food considering it's set up as a traditional drive thru where they actually come to your car to take the order. Definitely some of the better fast food fried chicken. It's the standard Bush's fried chicken with the usual sides and tea. Which means it's well above average. Also, there's plenty of condiments at each table. Drink refills are available and tea (and options for the tea) are on point. Speedy and friendly service. We have come here a couple of times for catered events for my team and they are always super excited that i cater Bush's chicken The chicken is always delicious and moist, never a dry bite. Good amount of crunch to go with it! When you are eating tenders you got to have country white gravy and thank goodness they have amazing gravy here, why would you not have gravy with tenders (looking at you zaxby's or canes). We always get an assortment of sides and again never disappointed either! Sweet tea is the way to go we always get a couple of gallons for the team. I use to love eating here. Food use to be great, service use to be on point, and sweet tea was tasty. Now the service is not so good and food is mediocre. Tonight, all the tables were a mess, and the employees were more involved with their conversations than making sure tables were cleaned up, and too busy socializing to make sure the orders were accurate. This was my first time going to Bush's chicken. I got the chicken tender combo with fries and it comes with a roll and some gravy sauce. The drive -thru was fast and efficient. There weren't any cars ahead of me, but the employees come outside to take your order, and they hand you your food through the window. The workers were polite and efficient. The tenders themselves were good! Very juicy! It was flavorful but not spicy. It was crispy in a good way! So the chicken is good. I would go back for the chicken. The only reason they are losing a star is because the fries were cold, and they weren't really good. And the roll wasn't great either. I feel like maybe if the roll was warmed or had butter or something. I tried to save the fries with the gravy but it just wasn't working. I also order a sprite, but the sprite was out so it just tasted like carbonated water. I hate it when that happens haha. But with all that said, I'd go back. The chicken was good. These guys are really good at what they do, and that's chicken! Their fried chicken is delicious and their chicken strips are similar to Cane's. The service is usually fast but make sure to check your order because they have managed to mess up 4 out of 5 orders that I have made here. I kept reading about the great chicken tenders at Bush's, so I gave them a try. Glad I did!! I ordered the tender value pack: two tenders, subbed the Mashed potatoes for the fries, gravy and a roll. All I have to say is the raves about the tenders are justified. Big real chicken pieces, seasoned nicely, and the batter is so crunchy. The white gravy has good flavors also. The roll was okay. Service was fast and pleasant, prices are extremely reasonable. Place is clean and new. Would I come again. Well, yes, but not for a long time until I get another craving. This place is about as good as fast food can get. The location in Round Rock has friendly service, instead of the surly misanthropes that staff many a fast food joint. This is a 3.5 rounded down to 3. Let me start of by saying the people working here are really friendly. My first time here was at the drive thru. I ordered some chicken and also asked what gizzards were and a guy came out and handed my food and also included some gizzards to try on the house. That was very kind of him. I've been back a few times since then and service has been good each time. The reason for the low stars is that the chicken is really bland. There's no seasoning at all and more often than not, it's a bit too salty. This is particularly true for the gizzards. There are no unique dipping sauces to offset the blandness or anything offered in a cajun/spicy version. If it were a choice between KFC and Bush's Chicken, I would pick Bush's without question. But when you include other chains of fried chicken fast food restaurants such as Popeyes or Churches, the appeal starts to wear off. Even Raising Cane which suffers from similar issues as Bush's is still a little less bland and has that special sauce to go along with it. Their sweet tea is super good though! read more

Why is it that your employees can not count? Seems like every time I stop in to get the 6 piece tender meal, I always has less that it is supposed to have. But, this time takes the case. The wife, my daughter and myself each other a meal. A two piece meal, a 4 piece meal and a 6 piece meal. When we get home; why does all of the have 3 pieces only. Wtf! There is not even a 3 piece tender meal on the menu. If the order can not be completed correctly consistently, then why be in business. It's just cheating customers out of money. And what person wants to drive 15 miles from home to correct this issue after getting home and preparing to eat? None.. they just stop spending their hard earned money there.
