    2. Lil Crab with Cajun seasoning with lil kick spice level.
    Jodie B.

First time trying Lonestar Crabshack, but will definitely be back. Everything was cooked great. There was enough sauce that you really didn't even need the butter. The flavor was fantastic. I went with low spice because everyone's heat ranking is different, I will go up a level next time. So happy we found this little gem of a place.

The location of the food truck isn't in the most visible spot. It took me a while to find it even driving by the truck once and not realizing the truck was an actual food truck. The truck is parked behind/next to the shipping center. I ordered the Lil Shrimp (as part of Elite Event) and Mozzarella Sticks. To be honest, I was disappointed with the food due to all of the grease in the food. I wish there wasn't so much grease in the food/container.

This food truck is located on the right side of the plaza and you can drive around. It's not that sketchy, just behind a strip mall and next to a pipe yard. They said I had no concerns with a nut allergy. I ordered two chicken strips along with the #1 Lil' Shrimp Platter, "Lil' Kick" spice level. Around 7:30PM took about 15-20 minutes for my order to come out with 1-2 other parties waiting. The shrimp combo was quite buttery - everything is soaked in it. I thought the "Lil' Kick" spice level was pretty good and indeed had a slight kick. It looks like they sprinkle some kind of herbs along with the spice on everything, which is a nice touch of color. The chicken tender tasted a bit rubbery, but had a crispy exterior and decent flavor.

My fiance and I decided to try a new local spot. The food truck is hidden behind the shopping center on the right if you're facing it (you can drive all the way around). We got the lil shrimp but we also added a little crab as well. For the shrimp spice level, we got 'lil kick' and for the crab, we got 'wheres the water.' Due to some helpful advice from staff, we added cajun flavoring to the crab. The shrimp was really good. I thought I really liked the butter sauce with lil kick but then I tried the crab. It was amazing and the where's the water with cajun was a fantastic touch and elevated the crab to another level. The sausage that came with both dishes was good as was the potatoes and corn. I usually love adding an egg to anything and the boiled egg was good but I could've done without it in this case. The food took 30 minutes as they were running behind but they kept me updated on timing, which I appreciated. Friendly and locally owned black business, I'll be back and likely try ordering ahead next time.

It took two drives around the strip mall to find this unassuming little food truck, I just assumed it was an unmarked FBI van the first time around. So if you are trying to find it, look for the unmarked FBI van. I ordered the lil' shrimp with "where's the water" spice and also the cool-aid pickle since it sounded interesting. Every component of the dish was cooked well, and full of flavor. It wasn't very spicy though in my opinion. I also wasn't a big fan of the cool-aid pickle. I didn't get full afterwards but perhaps I was just hungry that day. I do wish the location was better. It's tucked behind a sketchy strip mall and unmarked, with trash cans from the other shops dotting the area.

What a hidden gem! Literally, this place is in the middle of nowhere and is like finding a geocache. I drove 26 minutes out of my way to check this place out and was blown away. I got the #1 Lil Shrimp with Where's the Water spicing and it was good but I should have gotten spicier. Blue was running the truck this Sunday evening and she was super cool. Her toast tab wasn't charging because of the heat so thankfully I had cash. The highlight of the dish was the sausage and the boiled egg. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and the shrimp was cooked very well. The corn, which I usually skip, was incredible as I cut it off the core and let it soak up the seasoning. Ultimately, I have to say I'm not one to seek out seafood bc of the high salt content but this joint has so much more flavor not masked by salt. I will be spreading the word!

To quote someone who ate spice level 8 "it honestly feels like I did damage to my body" This was the hottest wing and shrimp I have ever ate. Highly recommended, not for the feint of heart! Heed this seriously!!!!

My son ordered the 1/2 lb crab and shrimp platter. It took much longer than the 20 minutes we were told to wait, so they were nice and added a few shrimp to his order. He ordered the low spice level with garlic butter and Cajun seasoning. He said it was the perfect level for him, and it smelled amazing. Unfortunately, the food was only lukewarm when we got it and the potatoes were undercooked. The crab and shrimp were cooked perfectly though. I thought the crab legs would be pre-cracked since the food came with cutlery for immediate consumption, but this was not the case. I ended up helping my son crack the larger pieces of the legs. So while this wasn't perfectly done, the crab and shrimp were good enough that we will give it another try.

Food: Get it! I frequent seafood places A LOTTT and I am happy to know that Pflugerville has a new spot! I LOVED the fact that I could smell the food before even getting to the truck! I ordered lil shrimp combo with Nola seasoning mix and "Where's the water" spice level. The two mixes really complemented the meal! Shrimp were cooked just right and the butter NOLA seasoning was flavorful! Shrimp size was decent and I was shocked to see that the sausages were cut up! I had never had any like that before! Full Combo came with 8 shrimp, potatoes, sausage, corn and an egg - all also seasoned to perfection! My other order was the Lonestar special which came with a lb of snow crab legs, 16 shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn and an egg. On that combo, I did a mix of Cajun cahoots, sweet garlic, chili lime and lemon pepper seasoning and made it "Where's the water" spice level. I found that that custom mix seemed to have a little more heat than the NOLA seasoning mix so if you want a little extra kick, highly recommend mixing your own seasonings to find your favorite match. Crab was a little smaller than I had imagined but no different than most recent sizes I've come across at other places. The butter is bomb af but again - I'm a saucy girl so if you don't like your stuff dripping and sippin, you might want to ask if they can tweak the butter amount. Ordered around 9:26pm on a Monday and waited about 30 minutes for the food. Well worth it! Long story short - I will definitely be back Customer service: AAAHHHMAZINNGG! We didn't catch the guys name but he was so sweet and very accommodating! I brought the fiancè with me so I was super indecisive when it came to ordering additional food outside of the special. Homie in the truck let us know the most popular flavors and didn't side eye me when I said "Don't be shy about the sauce". Location / Packaging: This is in the Grand Avenue Center in Pflugerville so shady probably isn't the best word to describe the location. I mean it is on the side of a whole shopping center for crying out loud. Can it get dark? Yes - especially if you go after hours but let your headlights be your way! There were plenty of lights once you got closer to the truck. There is no ART signage on the White food truck but they do have a larger version of their menu posted! There are no seating areas at the moment so be sure to pack and or ask for extra napkins if you're gonna be car dining! We ended up taking ours home and it was STILL hot! The packaging was covered in foil which I appreciated - both for sauce coverage and keeping the heat in! I didn't think to ask if they plan to stay in the location or not but I am excited to see their growth!

I'm so happy that I found this place and all thanks to YELP!! The food is so delicious...this crab was cooked RIGHT the flavors are great!! I've been craving good seafood for a minute and this definitely hit the spot!! The portions are more than enough and it skimpy. The food is priced reasonable as well. I've always said the small spots (food trucks/hole in the walls) have the best food in Austin area and y'all didn't disappoint. I can't wait to try the lobster. We did order fried (they're great) we just ate them before we could snap a photo lol...customer service is 10/10!! Will definitely be back to support. Also they are Black Owned please check them out!!

Starting with the space, it is a food truck behind Sky Lounge hookah shop. There is not seating but for those stopping at Sky Lounge this food truck is a great option. You can park in front of the stores in the area or in front of the food truck, but the best option is to get it to go imo. I went for the lil shrimp pictured below. I also purchased a Lonestar pickle. I chose the flavor level "Where's the Water" for everything. For my Cajun background, this hit the spot. A good amount of spice and flavor. The shrimp and potatoes worked well together. As did the sausage. My least favorite part of the dish was the oiliness. The seasoning kind of slid off at times due to oil. Overall it was a 8/10. The pickle was great! It's like a kool-aid pickle with a twist and a kick. It's sweet and savory. Very juicy. An experience in a pickle, really. The service was good. I had questions on what to expect, especially regarding the flavor levels. They appreciate your patience but did not take more than 10-15 minutes. I'm going back soon and I'm bringing my family so I hope they're ready!!

    7. Lonestar Special

Random as heck location but I will be coming back every time I'm in town. The lady was super friendly, walked me through the seasoning and even gave me a sample to help be sure. Super hot not watery at all like some crab places. Perfect seasoning and very generous portions. You will get your money's worth.

The service is top tier! The staff comes by to make sure you're good constantly so you never go long waiting for refills or to get some attention for an issue. The vibe is great, TVs on & the place is always clean. I read a review complaining about the napkins & buckets that's STUPID af. Don't come to a seafood place if tha bothers you. I love that they had the whole roll of brown paper towels so we don't have to keep asking. The buckets are super helpful to clear out the soft shells of the shrimp instead of piling on a plate. The FLAVOR is ALWAYS ON POINT!!! We even tried the other location but the Round Rock location beats it! We always go for date night. It's much lower priced than @Boiling Crab & taste 100x better than their soggy shrimp! Hook & Reel is just a hard pass... it's not flavorful. LA Crawfish is not good & Krab Kings is overpriced for mid food. I make my own seafood boils & ppl would rather buy from me than go to the other locations. Surfin Crab is the only one who beats me! Most times I can't even get a pic because we dive in! Oooh & food is always fast!

I walked into Surfing Crab hoping for one of those unapologetically messy seafood boils -- the kind…read morewhere you're tying your hair back, rolling up your sleeves, and mentally preparing to smell like garlic butter for the rest of the day. Sadly... this wasn't that experience. I ordered the boil with a pound of crab, head‑on shrimp, squid, corn, and those thin little sausage slices you see at most Cajun spots. The seasoning landed squarely in the middle -- not offensive, not impressive, just sitting there like it was waiting for someone to give it direction. I asked for hot, but what I got tasted more like a medium that didn't want to commit. And the shrimp? Head‑on and not deveined. That gave them a gamy, muddy undertone that took away from the whole boil. At this price point, deveining shouldn't be a luxury add‑on. We also tried the appetizer sampler -- calamari, egg rolls, cheese sticks -- and everything tasted suspiciously similar, like it all took the same little swim in the same fryer without a break. Nothing was terrible, but nothing had personality. These were the kind of appetizers you can find anywhere, and not the kind you remember later. My partner ordered the shrimp po'boy, and while the portion was generous, the breading overwhelmed the shrimp. He ended up peeling most of it off just to get to the actual protein. When the breading becomes the main character, that's a sign the dish needs editing. Now, the mixed drinks? Those were actually good -- balanced, not overly sweet, and honestly the highlight of the meal. And I have to give credit where it's due: our waitress was attentive, friendly, and checked on us consistently without hovering. She did everything right. The food just didn't match her level of service. And look... I'm not trying to be dramatic, but I've had better crab at HEB during crawfish season for a fraction of the price. When your grocery‑store boil is hitting harder than the restaurant version, that's saying something. Overall, Surfing Crab wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't memorable either. For the price and the concept, I expected more depth, more spice, and more care in the prep. This one's a pass for me -- especially when I know I can get fresher, better‑seasoned seafood elsewhere without the premium price tag.
