The food and service were awesome as always. I eat here often amd it's alway a good experience.

The food was great good portions as well. I don't eat seafood but I ordered the potatoes corn, egg and sausage my plate was $11.00 I got full off of that. The potatoes did have a lot of butter like my plate was swimming in butter but I guess that's because I didn't order seafood. My friend got a platter and really enjoyed it. The service was great very quick and the guy was really nice. The place is large and offers a bar area as well.

Quite the hidden gem! I had no idea what to expect, but this place surprised me and my husband with how delicious the food was. A great casual spot for a simple meal. I ordered the shrimp lunch platter with honey garlic and my husband got the shrimp and crab lunch platter with Cajun seasoning. First off, the platter was wonderfully coated in the seasoning which hit all the right notes. Both platters came with potatoes, corn, a sausage, and a hard boiled egg. The potatoes were soft and plentiful. The corn was sweet and juicy, a nice respite from all the fatty lines and heavy starch. The sausage had great flavor. And of course, the seafood was undeniably delicious! Highly recommend checking this place out. It's in a unassuming plaza with plenty of parking.

Long overdue review for Krab Kingz. Pretty decent spot for boiled seafood plates. They have other items on their menu but I've only tried these thus far. Normally I order the crab cluster, shrimp and sausage boil. I've tried a few flavors however their house/original seasoning is my favorite. It's always on point, super flavorful and I always get extra sauce just in case...lol Shrimp is always cooked to perfection, crab can be amazing or sometimes overcooked. I normally get take-out or delivery so I haven't spoken with anyone personally onsite regarding the over cooked crab. However out of about 5 visits I only had this issue twice. If you love potatoes they are super generous with them, unlike some places which will nickel and dime you for extra potatoes. You will not have this problem at KK. One of the better shrimp/crab boil spots in town.

Food was amazing!!! Prepare to get dirty. Don't be afraid to ask for something to help crack shells. Ambiance was sparse and kinda barren. Visited during lunch time on a Saturday. That's okay though because I didn't come for the crowd. I came for the food and I'm glad I did! I was just about not to and go elsewhere. Will be coming back again when I'm in the area and have some good time to sit down and go to town on these lunch platters. Service was good too. Definitely has the locally owned vibe which is great.

Amazing food and service had great atmosphere and I would go there again. I got the Cajun flavor

I am impressed by this little corner of the universe. The food is actually very good and we saw that by how crowded this restaurant become shortly after the church crowd came in during lunch. Appreciating the service that they handed out extra crab to us because they didn't want to toss it out. Felt like a family owned restaurant. I liked the ambiance as well. TVs, a bar, diner setting, etc. I would definitely come back and bring friends. Enjoyed our experience!

Go here if you want a plate of potatoes and some shrimp. Not worth it. The flavor is lacking. Even the butter tastes bland

Came in right around the time they were opening and was immediately greeted with a friendly face!…read moreOne thing I can truly appreciate upon walking into an establishment. Took a look at the menu and decided on a few things. Ended up ordering Seafood trio grits , baked beans, fries, boudin egg rolls and we couldn't skip the corn bread and biscuits [you shouldn't either!] The grits were amazing, cooked exactly the way they should have been, flavors were all there. Baked beans are slightly sweet but still savory. I loved every bite! Had pieces of brisket in there if I'm not mistaken. Corn bread and biscuits were AMAZINGGG. Very soft and fluffy I would have ordered 6 of these and take home it I wasn't so full by the time I left . The only thing I didn't really care was the boudin egg rolls. It definitely wasn't as good as all of the other dishes.

I was really excited to try this place, not gonna lie. It's been on my list for over a year…read more Unfortunately, the experience just didn't match expectations. We had already looked over the menu beforehand and knew what we wanted. Went for the Springdale (seafood) from the Spuds section, but when we got there, they told us they didn't have seafood that day. Okay... backup plan, we asked for the Alamo, but no sliced brisket either, so can't make that. At that point it's like, why are y'all running a restaurant if key items aren't available? Super annoying. Thankfully it was Wednesday, so they had the $1 wing special. Got a 10 piece, half Honey T and half Spicy BBQ. Keeping with the theme of disappointment, no complimentary dip with a 10 piece wing order, which is kind of wild. That said, the wings were amazing. Crunch was on point, quality was there. I'd definitely come back on a Wednesday just for those. But overall, between the lack of preparedness, the ambiance, the weird hours, and prices that don't match the experience, I probably won't give it another shot unless it's a Wednesday...and we want wings.

Rec's Hushpuppie Heaven -- A True Gem…read more Let me tell you right now--this place lives up to the name! I ordered the Catfish Basket (2 pieces) with fries, onion rings, and their famous Mac & Cheese Hushpuppies, and babyyyy... perfection. The hushpuppies were the star of the show--golden brown, crispy on the outside, and then you bite in and boom... creamy macaroni and cheese with brisket inside. Deep-fried to absolute perfection--moist, flavorful, and unforgettable. I dipped mine in the creamy jalapeño sauce, and that combination needs its own award. I'm already plotting my return to try the shrimp and jalapeño bacon version. The catfish? Listen... crispy on the outside, fluffy and tender on the inside, seasoned just right. Almost as good as mine--almost! The fries and onion rings were fried just right too--hot, fresh, and not greasy or overcooked. And let me not forget the coleslaw--a simple side done right. Cool, fresh, and the perfect balance to all that deep-fried goodness. Don't skip it. The establishment was spotless--and that matters. When you walk into a restaurant, you want to smell good cooking, not something unpleasant lingering in the air. This place was clean, welcoming, and the young men working that day greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. Excellent service from beginning to end. And here's what makes it even better--the owner gives back to the community in a big way. That alone deserves support. Reasonable prices, amazing food, clean space, and heart behind the business. Whether you're local or just passing through--do yourself a favor and stop by. I'll definitely be back.

We did not make reservations, I'd advise you to do it. However it was worth the 40 minute wait. The restaurant is very cozy with low lights. Great for a date or dinner party. We skipped the appetizer since we were running late but we will try one the next time. They bring you large flakey rolls and seasoned butter. Hubby had the catfish ponchatrain with red beans and rice and carrots. I had the beef and shrimp pasta with a brandy cream sauce. The food was so good! Our server Brooke was great. She made sure that we had everything we needed and our experience was good. Hubby ended the meal by getting the blueberry cheesecake and key lime pie to go. However, as we waited, another customer told us that the bread pudding was excellent. Then another customer told us that the chocolate cheesecake would give the bread pudding a run for its money. But as we sat and watched, several tables had the blueberry cheesecake brought to them to go. So I'd say leave room for desert!

We tried to go to happy hour with my partner's parents, but that was only available in the bar area. Given they have some health problems to consider, we could not move over and hover over teeny tables to have dinner so had to handle full price. At full price, I'd give it a solid 3.5. Bumped to a 4 because this is hard to find around here. We got: - shrimp yoli (if you only order one dish, get one with this SAUCE. It's to die for. The shrimp had too much seasoning that it was a little choke worthy and I NEVER complain about flavor. Just lighten up a little!) - escargot (the butter was broken.. so it was kinda rough) -catfish gumbo (solid portion) -redfish add lump crab (while we enjoyed this, it was pricy for what it was) -shrimp and crawfish pasta (good) -orange crème brûlée (light.. not my fav crème brûlée ever but fun to try) - chocolate cake brownie with ice cream

I don't care what anyone says... this is the BEST SEAFOOD BAG BOILS around Austin... yes I know…read morethis is Round Rock but we live in Austin & have tried EVERY place here so we started surrounding areas. The service is top tier! The staff comes by to make sure you're good constantly so you never go long waiting for refills or to get some attention for an issue. The vibe is great, TVs on & the place is always clean. I read a review complaining about the napkins & buckets that's STUPID af. Don't come to a seafood place if tha bothers you. I love that they had the whole roll of brown paper towels so we don't have to keep asking. The buckets are super helpful to clear out the soft shells of the shrimp instead of piling on a plate. The FLAVOR is ALWAYS ON POINT!!! We even tried the other location but the Round Rock location beats it! We always go for date night. It's much lower priced than @Boiling Crab & taste 100x better than their soggy shrimp! Hook & Reel is just a hard pass... it's not flavorful. LA Crawfish is not good & Krab Kings is overpriced for mid food. I make my own seafood boils & ppl would rather buy from me than go to the other locations. Surfin Crab is the only one who beats me! Most times I can't even get a pic because we dive in! Oooh & food is always fast!

I walked into Surfing Crab hoping for one of those unapologetically messy seafood boils -- the kind…read morewhere you're tying your hair back, rolling up your sleeves, and mentally preparing to smell like garlic butter for the rest of the day. Sadly... this wasn't that experience. I ordered the boil with a pound of crab, head‑on shrimp, squid, corn, and those thin little sausage slices you see at most Cajun spots. The seasoning landed squarely in the middle -- not offensive, not impressive, just sitting there like it was waiting for someone to give it direction. I asked for hot, but what I got tasted more like a medium that didn't want to commit. And the shrimp? Head‑on and not deveined. That gave them a gamy, muddy undertone that took away from the whole boil. At this price point, deveining shouldn't be a luxury add‑on. We also tried the appetizer sampler -- calamari, egg rolls, cheese sticks -- and everything tasted suspiciously similar, like it all took the same little swim in the same fryer without a break. Nothing was terrible, but nothing had personality. These were the kind of appetizers you can find anywhere, and not the kind you remember later. My partner ordered the shrimp po'boy, and while the portion was generous, the breading overwhelmed the shrimp. He ended up peeling most of it off just to get to the actual protein. When the breading becomes the main character, that's a sign the dish needs editing. Now, the mixed drinks? Those were actually good -- balanced, not overly sweet, and honestly the highlight of the meal. And I have to give credit where it's due: our waitress was attentive, friendly, and checked on us consistently without hovering. She did everything right. The food just didn't match her level of service. And look... I'm not trying to be dramatic, but I've had better crab at HEB during crawfish season for a fraction of the price. When your grocery‑store boil is hitting harder than the restaurant version, that's saying something. Overall, Surfing Crab wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't memorable either. For the price and the concept, I expected more depth, more spice, and more care in the prep. This one's a pass for me -- especially when I know I can get fresher, better‑seasoned seafood elsewhere without the premium price tag.
