    Half of $13.00 chicken order!

I agreed to the 15 minute wait time for the uncharged 2 piece chicken dinner. 1 piece was smaller than the receipt & it's questionable if it has any meat at all in it. I would have spoKen to staff, but they were hiding in the back. Top Notch - Hutto, y'all are Bottom Notch of the trash dumpster!!

Had to try Top Notch Hutto cause its new in the Co Op area. This is a nod to the past, including the drive in vibe. The employees were friendly and respectful the place was spotless but sadly it wasn't really anything unique. Similar in character to P Terry's honesty except I don't think the fries are homemade. My Jalapeño burger was good but not particularly special and the fries were crispy but average. I love that Hutto area is getting more dining options and I can't wait for Jack Allen's Not sure Top Notch is a repeater for us but it is better than micky d's.

    Chicken Tenders Dinner

People definitely come here for the experience and covered patio that overlooks the lawn with stage. Kids are able to run around and play. The vibes of this place is nice. They also offer carhop service if you pull into a drive in spot. It is card only out there. Gives you the vintage feel as they play oldies while you wait. Kid's meals come in a classic car. They love it! I have been to this place three times. The service is nice. The people who work here are pleasant. I typically get the chicken tenders or jalapeño burger. Chicken tenders are crispy and meat is not dry. I like to dip it into the gravy along with the toast that comes with it. I spice up my gravy with hot sauce..yum! My latest visit, I decided to try more items. The seafood dinner (mixed fish and shrimp). I went with the combo to try the fish and shrimp. You get two pieces of fish and three fried shrimp. It comes with cole slaw, Texas toast and fries for $13.49. The fish and shrimp were fried perfectly so they were crispy. The fish batter I could not put my finger on the seasoning, but it was definitely a different flavor. I was indifferent about the fried seafood dinner. The fried okra and tater tots were good. The onion rings were a miss for me. The mashed potatoes and cole slaw were ok. My little enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwich and the two chicken drumsticks. I will be back to try a strawberry shake next time.

    #5- Chili Burger

While the nostalgic side of me wants to love this place the realistic side of me is not a fan. I do love the ol' school vibe of a burger joint but my issue is food quality. Chili cheese burger with barely any chili or cheese-disappointed. Fried that were so greasy we couldn't enjoy them. The kids meal comes in a little car and that's cute and the malt/shakes are good but for two combos and a kids meal we spent almost $50!! The service was fast but the kid didn't have any spunk or personality and that's kinda sad in my opinion. Overall it wouldn't be my first choice.

I've been going to the original TN since the 70s, so I thought I would try out their newest location. Like their original location, you can pull into one the 10 spots to order and dine in you car. However, there are no cash orders for outside orders, for cash option you have to dine in. Once inside they'll be playing those oldies overhead. The design inside and out is pretty much in keeping with the original location. I ordered the #4 Longhorn, which is a double cheeseburger combo which will run you about $15. The real turn off for me is facing that big tip screen for placing my own order and picking it up at the counter. They should take a lesson from Hat Creek, P Terry's and In-N-Out because they do not have that last second cash grab. I got here during the Tuesday lunch rush, but it was just myself and one other couple inside the joint the entire time. The burger was pretty much keeping with what their competitors serve and they do give you a generous portion of fries. The burger meat itself looks previously frozen, not fresh and definitely not a smash burger. One thing they offer that their competitors don't, is a can of cold beer. If you're tired of your other burger options and don't mind coughing up a few bucks for a tip, this is a good acceptable lunch destination. Plenty of photos to highlight this review.

I was so excited about this new Top Notch location. Hutto is in need of some good, non franchise food joints. I must say I've never tried the original location in Austin. So everything about this visit was a brand new Top Notch experience. The good thing about this place is that it's brand new, so everything is clean and the restaurant looks very nice and inviting. That's about it. The service was awkward, and not as positive, cheery, or knowledgeable as you'd expect a new restaurant to have. I know it's just a burger joint, but if you can find good service at In N Out, Shake Shack, Mighty Fine, etc, then a place that charges these kinds of prices should try and at least compare to that level. As for the food, I tried the Longhorn Special Burger combo. After tax and a 20% tip, my tab was a few cents short of $20...just for my one combo. Without being exaggerated or extreme, the burger was the most flavorless burger I've had in my whole life. Visually, it looked decent. Texturally, it felt fine. But flavor-wise, even McDonald's provides more. The fries are fast food quality at best. At least the soda machine works well. Surprisingly, I still feel that Top Notch is going to do just fine in Hutto. But there's really nothing top notch you're going to find here.

Seafood combo. Extremely small portion for the price tag

I wish I read the reviews before coming here but my husband wanted to check it out. It's a very nice space, large with the car hop stands and indoor and outdoor dining. It is very themed with decor and music playing. We got a burger combo, seafood combo, 2 kids meals = $50+$10 tip. Yikes The longhorn special burger was tasty, however I'm not sure it was worth the $12 price tag for a combo as the fries weren't that great. I got the seafood combo, the fish and shrimp were cooked well but again not sure if the quality equaled $14 for the plate. I felt like the shrimp were overcooked and tasted like the costco fried shrimp you get in the frozen section. The flavoring on the fish was interesting, had a hint of curry IMO. The best deal was the kids meals and they came in cute car boxes. I think we might try it again and get the fried chicken specials. Those looked pretty tasty but I hope they can get their ratios adjusted and food quality and consistency fixed. I'm sure rent is pricey in the Co-Op but the reviews are fairly consistent that it's overpriced here and I'd have to agree.

This was the whole order of $4+ onion rings. Come on... Mr Owner, is this the product you're proud of?

We waited for the crowds to ease up here in Hutto for our Top Notch Burger stop. I also just read the article in a local business magazine about the guy who owns Top Notch so I thought we would give it a try. With the way that things are in the economy right now I like to feel like I'm getting my monies worth. I figure that prices are so high because they have to pay their employees and post COVID that's been tough, I understand. But this wasn't what I expected. $20 bucks for two burgers and a side of onion rings. I don't have to worry about cheating on my diet to get a burger here, if I want to do that I'll head to In-n-Out. I do all I can to support local businesses but I do want to feel like my visit and my money will get me something I enjoy so much I'll be back. This wasn't it. The burger was a 2, the onion rings were a 1, nothing else really to rate.

    Longhorn is good!

I think the default is you should never order burgers for delivery and I'm going to start with that. We got 2 buddah burgers regular and small, fries and they gave us some chicken tenders. SCORE! Again this was a delivery order so the review is based on this specific experience. Initial bites in everything , flavor is bursting. Good quality beef , not super fatty (which I love- only want a greasy burger if it's thin), the quality of Ingredients over all were great. I think if I had gotten the burger without cheese and no lettuce I would have enjoyed it more. The melted cheese texture with the soggy lettuce did not last the trip, and I felt like they took away from the burger overall. The sauce was quite good it reminded me of a cross between egg salad and potato salad. The fries I think had like gochujan powder or something were good but if I had it fresh would probably have enjoyed more. Initial bite of tenders were really good but after bite 2 it was like too much bullion in the batter. But in a samich with some coleslaw to cut through the salt I think it would have been great. The only problem I had with the meal overall was the sodium level which had me feeling kinda bloated and sick (could have been from driving and eating a salty spicy chicken earlier). But I will definitely give it another shot and I would go in person for sure it's not a delivery type item and I would probably tweak my burger or samich a bit.

It is a unifying meal of blue-collared and white-collared people alike. It is a food that unifies the vast cultures of the south. There is no debate when there is a Chicken Fried Steak. Soul food and southern food are so severely important to people who were raised in the south because the overall feeling of those cuisines is that it feels like their Grandma is cooking dinner. Now if you look at my Yelp profile picture for a fraction of a second and maybe stereotype a little, you can accurately assume that my Grandma's cooking would fit in the latter and you would maybe wonder if my grandmother knows what seasoning is. If you have had her chili, you would say no. The famous Texan Cafe & Pie Shop in Hutto is a classic Southern diner that is always a perfect pick-me-up meal and is a truest staple of the area. When I first visited Hutto before moving I looked for places to try, and the abundant and sheer quantity of reviews for Texan Cafe made it clear that I had to try it. That was just over a year ago, and I still remember parking my car in the lot across the street and walking into the cozy diner with wood chairs and booths, red tablecloths, and so much decor on the walls it might be a museum, and I felt right about moving to Hutto. I was seated immediately and almost instantly ordered the Chicken Fried Steak smothered with white gravy, of course, with sides of Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes. It was not long before the beautiful plate hit my table, and I destroyed everything on that plate. When I thought it was over, I was handed the dessert menu that was two full rows worth of pie and other options. I was mesmerized by the length of it and was overwhelmed by the options. I texted my parents to tell them and suddenly I was going back to San Antonio with slices on slices worth of pie for them to have. When my parents came up to help move me in, they wanted to go to the Texan. They were impressed with how great the meal was alongside the pies. Pies that they bought extra of to take back with them to San Antonio. When I started my job, the first meal they took us new hires to was the Texan. I tried their Blue Plate Special and found out that Chicken Fried Pork Chops exist and fell in love with that. When my brother came and visited meeting my parents and me in Hutto, we went to the Texan. We enjoyed their appetizers and everyone had to have a slice of pie. Options for everyone. When a friend came and visited, she took a solo trip to the Texan while I was at work then told me she took the best nap of her life after. My buddy and I decided to go randomly one day after work to try their Hot Pie with Brandy Sauce. That thing is a tank and is worth a visit to try alone. What a sweet creation. When my girlfriend visited me in Hutto, I took her to the Texan and she will randomly text me about how much she misses the pie. I try to get her a slice every time she comes and visits. It is her favorite thing. It is clear to see why it is a favorite to so many because everyone I have taken to the Texan has left a fan wanting to come back. I brought my grandparents home a full Blueberry pie from the Texan Cafe which my grandma told me "was the best I have even since I was a little girl. Not too sweet with a great crust. Just right. A blueberry pie is my favorite." I know this review is less of a review and more of a collection of vignettes of many stories built inside the walls of the Texan Cafe, but that is what is so beautiful about southern hospitality and southern diners. That is why there is so much decor about the extensive history of Texan Cafe and the culture of Hutto on the walls. I went back this afternoon for the first time in a short while, but I find myself continuously impressed by the quality of the food, the efficiency as a whole, and just how welcoming everyone is inside. Their pies are just truly next level. Today, I went for the Chicken Fried Pork Chop Blue Plate Special which is truly heaven sent, potato salad, fried okra, and a slice of their cherry pie. It is a meal you feel blessed to eat and a restaurant you love supporting because of it. Every pie I have had at the Texan is better than any other pie I have eaten. They could be a full time bakery and still be the monument of Hutto. It just happens they have food that warms your heart too. RIYL: Grandma's cooking if it was not dry

With so many Texas Monthly Top 50 joints and honorable mentions nearby, it's easy to forget there's a BBQ joint right in your own backyard. BBQ Fiends is a food truck in Hutto that recently received an honorable mention from Texas Monthly, so it immediately moved to the top of my list. On an early Saturday morning, I stopped by Adam Orgain Park for the Catfish Derby. When that wrapped up, I parked at Rockabilly Brewing and was third or fourth in line at BBQ Fiends just before they opened. I think the best way to judge BBQ is by trying the brisket, pork ribs, and whatever sausage includes cheese, jalapeño, or chorizo. Their Texas Trinity plate, priced at $33, covered all three and came with one side. I went with the street corn. DANG. This holds up against some of the best BBQ I've had in Austin. If they keep up this quality, I can easily see them cracking the Top 50 list. The brisket was juicy, just like it should be. The sausage was bold and flavorful without being overly spicy. The ribs had a sweet, candied flavor. They were probably the least strong of the three, but still very good. The street corn was a standout and might be my favorite version I've had anywhere. I really appreciate when BBQ joints lean into their cultural influences, and the Spanish fusion here is excellent. Pairing the food with drinks from Rockabilly made for a perfect afternoon. You really can't ask for much more. I'm already planning to go back. With BBQ this good just minutes from home, there's no reason not to.

I came in a little after 11 am with the man who is basically the face of Hutto at his request. He has lived in Hutto for years and has countless stories of the city to share. The place feels ripped straight out of the 80s with artwork of musicians including Elvis and Willie Nelson, along with Alf, ET, and Gizmo. It is definitely dated, but in the best way. Looking at the menu, they have everything you would expect a diner to have. Everything is decently priced and affordable. I ordered two breakfast tacos and a tea. One was bacon, egg, and cheese. The other was chorizo, egg, and cheese. They were not winning any awards, but my god they were like an omelet on a tortilla. They were filled with eggs. With a little picante sauce, they were great and felt like a classic diner meal. The service is great. Our lady was attentive and very friendly to us. That seems to be the vibe here. There's a lot of 1 stars here, but trust the guy with the Yelp Elite badge and the essay of a review, it's not a 1 star establishment. It's more.
