Glad to see some bbq options in Hutto. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was pretty cold in there, but on a hot day it felt great. There is plenty of seating for families or larger groups. The station of pickles and onions and utensils was kept tidy and clean. The baked potato side was delicious, but there was hardly any in the container just lots of cheese and onion toppings which was disappointing. The flavors on the meats overall are a bit plain when competing against Texas, or even Austin bbq, but in a pinch when you have a craving this will do. They have sauces and merch for sale on the way to the order counter as well.

Family order of three different meats, mac and cheese, and coleslaw.

What a great addition to the City of Hutto. It was our first time visiting this establishment and we were pleased with the customer service, cleanliness, and overall food quality. The cashier who greeted us was an absolute pleasure to work with. I initially wanted to order a family plate with pork belly but upon her recommendation, I went with the pork loin because she's obsessed with it. I can see why. It's absolutely delicious. The ribs and brisket were also delicious and very filling. I thought the brisket was a tiny bit dry but I can be really picky with my red meats. I have always preferred mine a little raw The mac and cheese is decadent. Very rich and very creamy, with lots of cheddar notes. The coleslaw was fresh and nice and crunchy. I wouldn't mind coming back. The family plate wasn't cheap but it's really nice to have enough leftovers for the next two days. In this case, I feel it's definitely worth the money. We will definitely be coming back.

New location in Hutto across from the high school. My wife had the brisket sandwich and I tried a two meat plate with potato salad and beans. The brisket sandwich was very good, albeit a bit overdone and dry. I had brisket and ribs with potato salad and beans. The potato salad was surprisingly good as were the beans. Trinity. A great place for a quick lunch. Not exactly world-class barbecue but pretty good nevertheless.

I have been craving ribs for about a week so me and my mom got some bbq tonight. I've only had Smokey mo's one time. This time was at the new location in hutto. It was not busy inside so we got our order pretty quick. It is nice and clean inside. I ordered the pork rib plate which comes with three ribs and two sides. My two sides were the Mac and cheese and green beans. The Mac and cheese was pretty good just missing some salt and pepper. The green beans were good too. The only thing that I wasn't really a fan of was the bbq sauce. It was very vinegary. This meal definitely satisfied my craving. I will definitely be back for some bbq one day.

Paid $91 for this meal , Order was ready fast but The small family pack had plenty of meat but came with small sides and also no bread or bbq sauce even though that's included in the price!

Specifically asked for moist brisket & the gave me lean

I ordered off of Uber eats . The flavor of everything seems pretty delicious however I specifically asked for moist briskest & they gave me lean brisket which I do not eat it's very dry and just not to my satisfaction. So I paid for a two meat plate & only got one . Please pay attention to order notes . Moist brisket = fatty brisket . Maybe whoemever saw the note does know this idk . A bit sad about my food as I was really craving brisket & looking forward to enjoying my meal .

    Wet potatoes

The food was absolutely terrible for an expensive price. the Sloppy mo was dry as hell. The bacon cheese potatos r full of some type of of juice??? Legit leaked juice through the whole bag all over my car. who wants wet potatoes???? Is that the juice they boiled the potatoes in? Why is the potatoes in juice it makes no sense?? The brisket sandwhich was gray and full of fat. And I got charged a fortune for this dog awful meal. Do not waste your time here if you have tastebuds!

You order from the counter and they give you number. Drinks are self served for coffee, fountain, or water. In a fridge next to the order station is orange juice, apple juice, bottled water, and milks (regular and chocolate). Since this was my first time, I ordered the flight of 3. I asked the employee for their favorite - chicken and waffles - and also ordered Banana Love and Grilled Cheese and Bisque. It was definitely a mix of flavors - sweet, savory, and hearty. The ambiance is upbeat. Playing top 40 type of music, folks are dressed comfortably, and the tables are a bit too close together but can easily to accommodate larger groups. Chicken and waffles. Had this one first. It served more like a main meal. Chicken was juicy, a bit more breading than expected but was easy to take it off. It was served with syrup and some sort of mayo/thousand island type mix. Grilled cheese & bisque. Had this one next. Should've been first because it had more of an appy feel. Waffles were nice and crispy, cheese was perfectly melted. I used the bisque for dipping but the also provided a spoon in case you want to continue on with it. Banana Love. Saved this one a dessert. The Nutella was pretty thick and a bit overpowering. The whipped cream was really good and banana looked and tasted fresh. Overall, very good and will eventually eat my way through the menu. The menu also offers sandwich type meals where the waffle acts as the bun. Those seem good for a real lunch.

Also ordered the Nutella and strawberry waffles for my son and an à la cart order of 2 eggs over medium. He enjoyed his waffle but it became overwhelmingly sweet extremely fast so beware! Unfortunately the griddle or pan the eggs were cooked on wasn't cleaned nor seasoned properly bc he took one bite and instantly noticed a "metal flavor" only for us to flip both eggs over and can physically see metal color covering the bottom of both eggs. Super disappointing but we notified the staff and they offered to remake them. Of course my son wasn't trusting and chose not to have them remade. We were refunded $3.50 for the eggs.

With some remote work to do, I drove through Pflugerville into this apartment complex parking lot to try their coffee chain. In my discovery (Google), every LC apartment complex has a "The Goat" and a "Morning Ritual" in their front office. If this is their standard for amenities, what a luxurious apartment complex. I wanted my classic lavender oat milk latte. Their spring menu had a Lavender Honey Latte, which I ordered. Feeding my slight hunger, I also got their three buttermilk biscuits with strawberry preserves to pair with it. However, since I was not dining in at The Goat, I was banished to either sitting outside the restaurant or heading upstairs. It was partially humid, and I wanted to lock in on some work, so I opted for the upstairs. I was the only person up there. The downstairs had some steady traffic, but I was completely alone upstairs, which also had a micro-arcade and a bowling alley. What apartment complex am I even at? Service was pretty good as they seemed on top of it. The food was good, but it was three biscuits and strawberry jam. If they had somehow in some way messed that up, we'd be having problems. The coffee was pretty standard. I wasn't blown away by it, but it was clearly good and well made. I don't know Morning Ritual's true purpose as an outsider compared to a restaurant like The Goat, but I bet I'd be a lot happier with my apartment complex if they had a full coffee bar at the front office.

I have heard high praise from locals, and at the end of the day, nothing beats a city's local diner. It is one of those places that closes by 3 pm every day and feels perfect for brunch after a Sunday church service. I came in a little after 11 am with the man who is basically the face of Hutto at his request. He has lived in Hutto for years and has countless stories of the city to share. We sat as he shared stories with my co worker and me about the history of the city. He is a wonderful man, and if he thinks Hippo Cafe is a must visit, DAMMIT, it is a must visit. The place feels ripped straight out of the 80s with artwork of musicians including Elvis and Willie Nelson, along with Alf, ET, and Gizmo. It is definitely dated, but in the best way. Looking at the menu, they have everything you would expect a diner to have. Everything is decently priced and affordable. I ordered two breakfast tacos and a tea. One was bacon, egg, and cheese. The other was chorizo, egg, and cheese. They were not winning any awards, but my god they were like an omelet on a tortilla. They were filled with eggs. With a little picante sauce, they were great and felt like a classic diner meal. The service is great. Our lady was attentive and very friendly to us. That seems to be the vibe here. There's a lot of 1 stars here, but trust the guy with the Yelp Elite badge and the essay of a review, it's not a 1 star establishment. It's more. This place feels historic and gets plenty of love from regulars in the city. You know what you are getting into when you visit, but what does that really mean? You are getting old town love. A classic meal. A feeling like you have been standing your whole life and you just sat down. That is Hippo Cafe. RIYL: Your classic cafe or painting of 80s icons (Alf)

It is a unifying meal of blue-collared and white-collared people alike. It is a food that unifies the vast cultures of the south. There is no debate when there is a Chicken Fried Steak. Soul food and southern food are so severely important to people who were raised in the south because the overall feeling of those cuisines is that it feels like their Grandma is cooking dinner. Now if you look at my Yelp profile picture for a fraction of a second and maybe stereotype a little, you can accurately assume that my Grandma's cooking would fit in the latter and you would maybe wonder if my grandmother knows what seasoning is. If you have had her chili, you would say no. The famous Texan Cafe & Pie Shop in Hutto is a classic Southern diner that is always a perfect pick-me-up meal and is a truest staple of the area. When I first visited Hutto before moving I looked for places to try, and the abundant and sheer quantity of reviews for Texan Cafe made it clear that I had to try it. That was just over a year ago, and I still remember parking my car in the lot across the street and walking into the cozy diner with wood chairs and booths, red tablecloths, and so much decor on the walls it might be a museum, and I felt right about moving to Hutto. I was seated immediately and almost instantly ordered the Chicken Fried Steak smothered with white gravy, of course, with sides of Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes. It was not long before the beautiful plate hit my table, and I destroyed everything on that plate. When I thought it was over, I was handed the dessert menu that was two full rows worth of pie and other options. I was mesmerized by the length of it and was overwhelmed by the options. I texted my parents to tell them and suddenly I was going back to San Antonio with slices on slices worth of pie for them to have. When my parents came up to help move me in, they wanted to go to the Texan. They were impressed with how great the meal was alongside the pies. Pies that they bought extra of to take back with them to San Antonio. When I started my job, the first meal they took us new hires to was the Texan. I tried their Blue Plate Special and found out that Chicken Fried Pork Chops exist and fell in love with that. When my brother came and visited meeting my parents and me in Hutto, we went to the Texan. We enjoyed their appetizers and everyone had to have a slice of pie. Options for everyone. When a friend came and visited, she took a solo trip to the Texan while I was at work then told me she took the best nap of her life after. My buddy and I decided to go randomly one day after work to try their Hot Pie with Brandy Sauce. That thing is a tank and is worth a visit to try alone. What a sweet creation. When my girlfriend visited me in Hutto, I took her to the Texan and she will randomly text me about how much she misses the pie. I try to get her a slice every time she comes and visits. It is her favorite thing. It is clear to see why it is a favorite to so many because everyone I have taken to the Texan has left a fan wanting to come back. I brought my grandparents home a full Blueberry pie from the Texan Cafe which my grandma told me "was the best I have even since I was a little girl. Not too sweet with a great crust. Just right. A blueberry pie is my favorite." I know this review is less of a review and more of a collection of vignettes of many stories built inside the walls of the Texan Cafe, but that is what is so beautiful about southern hospitality and southern diners. That is why there is so much decor about the extensive history of Texan Cafe and the culture of Hutto on the walls. I went back this afternoon for the first time in a short while, but I find myself continuously impressed by the quality of the food, the efficiency as a whole, and just how welcoming everyone is inside. Their pies are just truly next level. Today, I went for the Chicken Fried Pork Chop Blue Plate Special which is truly heaven sent, potato salad, fried okra, and a slice of their cherry pie. It is a meal you feel blessed to eat and a restaurant you love supporting because of it. Every pie I have had at the Texan is better than any other pie I have eaten. They could be a full time bakery and still be the monument of Hutto. It just happens they have food that warms your heart too. RIYL: Grandma's cooking if it was not dry
