Came to ride bikes on the Gillieland Creek Trail and stopped in for Sunday lunch…read more Brothertons was great. We got 2 Two meat plates for our family of 4. The side of fries was overwhelming. So many. The green chili mac and cheese was a little spicy, the "green chili" didn't give it away when ordering. Overall we spent $60 and would come back. Everyone was friendly and the place was very clean.

However the great pitmaster, John Brotherton, who made Brotherton's Black Iron Barbecue a legendary place passed away a year ago. He was only 49. His death was sudden and shocking. Net of being a great cook, he apparently was also a great human being. He was much beloved in the Pflugerville community. When a master chef dies, It is usually very hard to his or her restaurant to recover. Brotherton's has taken a serious serious loss. * * * 1) The brisket that was once exceptionally tasty now does not taste like much. 2) Ribs that were highly regarded are now nothing special. 3) I can't say whether the pitmaster was responsible for the sides. However the tater tot casserole has become unpleasant. The beans don't have anything to them. * * * Fortunately I was with charming and absolutely delightful company. So the conversation over the table sparkled. The living carry on many of the good things of life. Those good things take more forms than just the food we put in our mouths. * * * That said, Brotherton's is a serious reminder that death comes to us all. When we die, many of the good things we created die with us.

The crispy chicken sandwich was so flavorful, the crispy redfish was huge and delicious and their kids tenders were thoughtful and not just junk food. Their sweet potato fries and regular fries were excellent. The kids had sparkling blueberry lemonade mocktails and loved them. Mama added their habanero sauce to her fish and LOVED it. The guacamole is always excellent and (score) on Mondays they have happy hour all evening so we got it 1/2 price. They brought him a birthday dessert (he chose the blondie) and the family loved it. My husband got a cantarito drink and loved it. We will be back! Special thanks to Kayla and our amazing server Catalina! Thanks for making us feel so welcome on the heated patio. Please like my review and photos if you find them helpful!

These folks really know how to do service exceptionally well. For our anniversary, the staff even signed a card for us and had a gift waiting as well! Food is also so very delicious. Consistently. I've tried so many different things on the menu. Their pimento cheese is hands-down my favorite and really the only that I eat. Their chicken fried chicken with that delicious gravy is definitely worth a go. My longtime favorite has always been there chorizo stuffed medallions. Holy moly. I love the farm to table concept and how it supports communities near ours. I always feel good about being a patron at this restaurant and it's easy to do with such great service and amazing food.

Everything about this place rocks. The food was delicious! We tried the goat cheese appetizer with sourdough. They mix it at the table which is cool because they explain what each of the ingredients is. I had a steak salad and my friend had the chopped chicken salad. Both amazing. But the winner is that whiskey cake. So luxurious. Not too sweet. With a huge heaping of real whipped cream. Easily can feel 3 or 4 people! Cocktails are refined and boozy!

I loved whiskey cake so much when I lived in Katy -- so…read moremuch so that I would take everyone who visited me there. but since moving to austin three years ago, I haven't had it + was excited to try this location. we went for brunch and the menu was pretty limited on options. it's almost as if you were forced to select a sandwich because the actual brunch meals made no sense/felt lazy. for example, the chicken and waffles were chicken *tenders*, not regular fried chicken.. that feels very lazy. I order the yard bird. it was an oven baked chicken with veggies. good, but not worth $22. I could've made it at home. everyone else at the table basically ordered pancakes with eggs or French toast because the menu was literally that limited, there was no "oo I want to try that!" moment. The service was great as we were a big party. The staff kept coming to our table to apologize on the long wait times; which was confusing because there was barely anyone in the restaurant... but the parking lot was full? where were all of those people? I don't know. the experience wasn't bad but, it didn't hold up to the standard of whiskey cake that I'm used to. especially for $66. the Katy location was so good, it even smelled like whiskey cake. and I remembered this restaurant brand having more culinary forward items like their blue cheese chips during happy hour. (which i lovedddd) If I'm ever out in Round Rock again, I may give it another try, but it won't be for brunch.

I also like the layout of this 54th St. because the dining space is spread out and separate from the bar area but there is a lot of bar space as well depending on what you are looking for. This is a newer restaurant so the design and decore is more of a modern elegant look. I like the fact that you can order off of the happy hour menu in the bar or dining area and they have a lot to offer on their happy hour menu, including drinks and appetizers. At the time I visited, they offered a separate menu that allows you to pair up with another diner at your table to order a combination of select meals, appetizers, drinks, and desserts for a really good combination price. We chose a combination that gave us each an alcoholic beverage, a shared appetizer, and two entrées. We shared the gringo dip and chips and for my entrée I had the chicken bucatini. It was a delicious blackened chicken and pasta in an alfredo sauce and it was delicious. My daughter had a soup and sandwich combo. That was a very generous portion for the price point as well. There are definitely deals to be had but more importantly, I found the food and service to be spot on and it didn't break the bank.

We came in on a Saturday afternoon with a group of three and had no wait at all, which was a nice bonus. I'd say this place is a step above your typical neighborhood Applebee's or Chili's, so it's a little pricier than those spots -- but you can taste the difference. For an appetizer, we ordered the chips with Gringo Dip, which is one of my favorites. I usually go with the Rattlesnake Pasta (it has a nice little kick to it), but this time I tried the Gyro Pita with fries. The portions were generous, and the gyro was delicious and very filling. I'm personally not a big fan of lettuce in my gyro, but it didn't take away from the overall flavor.

I am so torn on this place. My friends and I were looking for a cute spot for a moms night out…read more(just 3 of us). We decided to make a reservation at Odds Bar and give it a try. Arrived right on time and the parking lot was PACKED, though the restaurant appeared nearly empty except for a loud networking event going on in a devoted side room open to the main area. No one at the desk to greet us, just a sign to seat ourselves, so we did. Guess reservations don't really matter? It was quite a while before anyone approached us, but when a server finally came he was very nice and helpful. We ordered drinks and entrees. It took an ABSURD amount of time before the drinks came out...maybe because of the event? Not sure. The bar and restaurant seemed nearly empty otherwise and the bartender didn't look busy or rushed at all. Luckily we had intended to make a night of it, so we were able to wait. It was hard to hear each other talk, though, due to the networking event. When the drinks finally came, mine was AMAZING. Like, one of the best drinks I've had in Austin, and maybe one of the best of my life? Weeks later I'm still thinking about it. I got the Going Bananas and it was simple perfection. The food also took a while to come out, but at least we had drinks to tide us over. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and was disappointed. The toppings were spare and didn't offer much to elevate the dish, and the chicken itself, while tasty, was very dry in parts, to the extent where I was dipping it in ketchup to get it to go down easy. The bun and fries were good. Our server seemed to have evaporated into thin air after delivering food, so we had no water refills and had to vye for attention to pay the check. Eventually the bartender came and helped us pay, and seemed terse and annoyed when we asked to split our check. (Three middle-aged women...seems more likely a split than combined?) All in all, we were there about 3 hours total, mostly because service took so long. Such a bizarre experience. I would NOT come here if you are on any kind of timeline. The only way I'll come back is to sit at the bar and have drinks only.

Our server was Chase, who was very knowledgeable about the menu and took ownership of the whole experience. You can tell he enjoys being there. I got the off-menu All Day English Breakfast, which - shut the front door - was the best I've had in the Austin area. No puddings, and regular bacon instead of rashers, but otherwise super traditional and fantastic. The bangers stood out - YUM. We also got some candied bacon for fun which made the whole meal even more excessive, haha. It was superb, and a generous portion that the two of us easily shared. I'm hooked. Reasonable prices, great food, beautiful interior, fantastic service, easy parking. What a fun surprise to start 2026.
