A basic lunch for a family of three was nearly $60, and we weren't ordering anything extravagant. What really stood out was that we came in at lunchtime on a Friday and the restaurant was nearly empty. It feels like the current pricing model may be pushing customers away. I understand costs have gone up, but eliminating combo plates and making everything completely à la carte has made what used to be an affordable barbecue stop feel overpriced. I ordered the 1 Meat Brisket Plate, which comes with a side, sauce, and pickles/pickled onions. Bro... that brisket was like butter. I know "tenderism" is trending all over social media right now, but this right here is the real deal!! It was so incredibly soft. For my side, I got the potato salad. To be honest, it was a little bland on its own, but it actually worked as a nice, solid base for me to hook it up my own way once I got home. Overall, Smoky Buns is a dope spot and easily hands-down the best BBQ in Central Texas!!!! I will absolutely be back.
