    Mo's BBQ Salad
    Aj J.

More on the budget side of bbq you have Smokey Mo's and it is pretty good. My go-tos consist of their bbq salads or their spuds. While their sandwiches are on the smaller side they are still tasty. I'm not too keen on any of their sides though. They could really use a better (meaning baked) mac and cheese with a good crust on it. Their smoked turkey is very good and I don't really eat much brisket anymore but theirs is good also. The service is always friendly and quick. Always a great quick salad for me!

I always love to go to the Smokey Mo's. I crave BBQ constantly and the Smokey Mo's offers great food, service, and the food is relatively affordable considering how much it costs to eat out these days. I love their sausage. It's mouth-wateringly tender, flavorful and it also comes in jalapeño if your palette favors the spicy. It also pairs quite well with their BBQ sauce which is a nice blend of sweet and smokey. I really dig their potato salad which is nice and moist. It scoops like ice cream and is tasty like a scoop of ice cream. Potato salad should never be dry. I'm also rather fond of the macaroni and cheese. My wife says they add a little bit of citric acid to it. It's how they make it so creamy. It is O so creamy. PRAISE CHEESUS! The employees are both courteous and professional. They cut off the blackened portion of my moist brisket at my request to make it easier to chew and digest. Class act! They have bread, pickles and onions out on the floor so you can make your own BBQ sandwich. And I suggest you do. Praise Cheesus!

3 Meat Plate with brisket, sausage, chicken, mac and cheese, and creamed corn

If you are craving BBQ, and your go-to pit has already sold out for the evening, Smokey Mo's stands as a reliable alternative. This establishment dishes out all the classic BBQ staples, each seasoned and cooked in the traditional manner you'd expect. I always try the brisket and sausage, which were good but a bit dry. The highlight was their smoked chicken, which was succulent and infused with a rich, smoky essence. The side dishes--creamy mac and cheese, luscious creamed corn, and hearty bacon ranch potatoes--were all seasoned to perfection and quite satisfying, though it was evident that they had been reheated rather than prepared fresh. The 'sloppy mo' was a let down. It was cold, small in portion, and just looked unappetizing. Overall, Smokey Mo's is a basic fast-food BBQ joint, from its unremarkable decor to its approach to food preparation. Despite these drawbacks, the flavors generally hit the spot, making it a decent option for those sudden BBQ cravings.

    Brisket

Ordered pick up from here. Sides and turkey were decent. Service was friendly. But my lord this brisket was drier than the Sahara desert. Can't have that in Texas

Chopped sandwich w side of beans....or a tablespoon of beans rather

Well you can definitely tell there is different ownership here. This Smokey Mo's has gone down hill for sure. We purchased 3 meals- chopped sandwich w side of beans, 2 meat combo, a brisket plate, and choc cake slice...$65.00. Holy wow! That side of beans you see in the pic is half the size the sides used to be. The brisket was dry, the beans had no flavor, and the sides are the size of a sample cup from Costco. So while the food has gone downhill, those prices have surely found the uphill.

    Breakfast bowl

This is the first time I've ever left a negative review. I am so disappointed with the food I just received. I ordered the breakfast bowl and paid extra for brisket and potatoes. There was a tiny sliver of brisket and I counted 8 tiny diced potatoes that look stale. I also received a sweet tea with no ice. Thanks for the room temperature sweet tea and this really unappetizing breakfast bowl.

The rice wasn't over cooked and the meat wasn't dried out. I will definitely get this again. The banana pudding was FANTASTIC!!!! The vanilla wafers were still crispy and the flavor was outstanding. I was sad I didn't get two. I am very excited to go back and try the brisket burger as it sounds amazing from the description the owner gave me. I will update my review as I try more.

Lazy G BBQ Company in Cedar Park is exactly what it sounds like: lazy. For a BBQ joint in Texas,…read morewhere the standard is high, this place is embarrassingly bad. Rudy's BBQ should be the baseline, yet Lazy G doesn't even reach that. I ordered the ribs and brisket, hoping for something decent, but both were far below average. The brisket was especially disappointing--you could see the congealed fat right in the slices (see pictures). Serving meat at the right temperature is BBQ 101, and their failure here made the texture and flavor a cold, greasy mess. The sides weren't any better. The cucumber salad was bland, with just a dusting of dill and no seasoning whatsoever. Adding salt and vinegar should be a no-brainer, but apparently, even the basics were too much effort here. I was excited to try the smoked mushroom side (as a mushroom lover), but it was downright unpleasant. There was zero smokiness, and the sauce tasted like a watered-down BBQ sauce, giving the button mushrooms a soggy, unappetizing texture. The BBQ sauce was another letdown--it tasted like bottled Sweet Baby Ray's. For a BBQ place, using (or at least mimicking) store-bought sauce is the ultimate red flag that they just don't care. Even at $22 for a two-meat plate, the quality doesn't justify the price. In short, Lazy G BBQ Company doesn't just fall short--it doesn't even try. If their goal was to live up to their name, they succeeded; this food is lazy, uninspired, and, frankly, not worth your time or money.

The toppings of brisket, bbq sauce, french onions and jalapenos all stirred together makes each bite a little slice of heaven. WOW! The next morning he said, "I kept telling myself I need to leave a little bit more for Lee Lee but I kept opening it back up and eating more until it was all gone!" Good thing I had my bites right when we arrived at our hotel because I was so hungry. My husband ordered sliced brisket and we lucked out and got a few of the brisket burnt ends. They weren't all "candified" like a lot of the other bbq places serve; but they were smoky and delicious. I also enjoyed the potato salad. We were excited to order the smoked mushrooms but honestly, they could have used a bit more flavor for me. You could just tap the salt shaker and it would have been fine. I appreciated the creative side dish and love how the bbq scene has doubled down on the side hustle! It was cold out so we sat on the enclosed patio that had heaters and were very comfortable. We order a couple of beers and waited for our food. The service was friendly. This was a nice dining experience.

If you wanted authentic Elgin sausage in those days, there was no shortcut--you pointed your vehicle east and made the pilgrimage. The reward was a link of the town's famous "hot guts," a sausage with a snappy casing that gave way to a coarse, peppery filling infused with the unmistakable flavor of slow-smoked meat. It was the kind of sausage that lingered in your memory long after the last bite. Thirty years later, Southside is still turning out the same quality sausage that built its reputation over more than 140 years. While the sausage remains the headliner, the supporting cast is impressive: brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, sandwiches, and an array of classic Texas barbecue sides. On this visit, I opted for the daily special, a boneless New York strip smoked to a perfect medium rare. The smoking process transformed the steak into an exceptionally tender cut, one so yielding that even a plastic knife sliced through it with ease. The lone disappointment was that the steak itself carried only a faint hint of smoke and could have benefited from a more assertive seasoning profile. Still, it was a quality piece of beef, and a drizzle of Southside's distinctive barbecue sauce elevated it considerably, adding a sweet-and-savory punch that brought the flavors into focus. The sides rounded out the meal nicely. The beans were rich and satisfying, while the potato salad delivered the familiar comfort expected alongside Texas barbecue. Southside's legacy may have been built on sausage, but after more than a century in business, it's clear the market has mastered far more than just hot guts.

By the time they opened at 11:00 am, there were probably 50 people in line. SERVICE - Always impressed by Interstellar's hospitality! They make conversation with you while taking your order and preparing the food. There's also a worker floating around helping with clearing trays, getting leftover containers, etc. I spoke with Warren while waiting in line and told him about how much I love the pork belly... within minutes, he brought a piece for each of us to sample while waiting. Then, I mentioned that it was my dad's birthday when ordering my meats and the slicers threw in an extra pork rib which was above and beyond! PRICING - The total was $321.10 after tax ($24.48) but before tip for the following: * 2.01 lb brisket ($84.42) * 1.59 lb peach tea glazed pork belly ($57.24) * 0.92 lb pork ribs ($33.12) * 0.52 lb pulled lamb shoulder ($18.72) * 0.51 lb (1 link) beef Kielbasa sausage ($15.30) * 0.46 lb (1 link) Polish sausage ($13.80) * 0.54 lb (1 link) lamb merguez sausage ($20.52) * 1 qt of poblano creamed corn ($19) * 1 qt of four cheese mac ($19) * 1 pt of smoked scallop potatoes ($10) * 1 single of tomato zucchini salad ($5.50) House made pickles, pickled onions, sliced white bread, and sauce are complimentary. The pricing is slightly higher than other barbecue places in Texas but that's the "Michelin Star" tax at work! BRISKET (10/10) - This is some of my favorite brisket in Texas (along with Franklin's and Goldee's)... it's incredibly juicy, it's seasoned well with salt and pepper, the bark is flavorful without being overpowering, and the smoke ring is visible. You can request lean, fatty, and/or burnt ends. PEACH TEA GLAZED PORK BELLY (11/10) - I think this is the only food item I've ever given a 11/10 to but it's THAT GOOD! There is just nothing like this anywhere else... it's a unique offering and really sets Interstellar apart. You get cubes of super tender pork belly coated in a sweet peach tea glaze... it literally melts in your mouth and is like candy. PORK RIBS (8/10) - They're tender but don't completely fall off the bone which is exactly what I like. They're seasoned well but don't stand out as much as some of the other proteins. PULLED LAMB SHOULDER (8/10) - Very tender and juicy but it just isn't as flavorful as some other pulled lamb that I've had at other barbecue places (KG BBQ has my favorite). SAUSAGES (9/10) - All 3 were phenomenal! The casings have a nice snap to them, the texture of the meat inside is ideal, and they are packed with flavor. It's all about personal preference in terms of which is best but I think the beef Kielbasa is a good one to try! POBLANO CREAMED CORN (9/10) - This was a newer side that I was excited to try and it's fantastic! I love the poblano flavor and the texture of the creamed corn was fantastic. It's garnished with green onions. FOUR CHEESE MAC (10/10) - I was sad when they got rid of the gouda mac because I LOVED it but I have to say... this new mac is somehow even better! The creaminess is next level! It's garnished with crispy brown butter cracker crumble (with extra on the side to add later) and green onions. SMOKED SCALLOP POTATOES (9/10) - I've always loved this side but they have somehow improved it recently... the potatoes seem slightly thinner which helps them hold on to even more flavor. TOMATO ZUCCHINI SALAD (9/10) - Refreshing side to add some veggies... simple but delicious! PICKLES, PICKLED ONIONS, BREAD & SAUCE (8/10) - The pickles & pickled onions are some of my favorite around. The bread is just a basic sliced white bread (skip it). There is a Texas red sauce and a mustard sauce... try them both! I'm just now writing a review after visiting close to 10 times but I'm happy to report that Interstellar is still worth the hype, even after gaining popularity from earning a Michelin Star. They have unique menu offerings (like the peach tea glazed pork belly), top-notch service, and keep innovating their menu by improving their classics and offering specials. I will recommend Interstellar to EVERYONE and can confirm it is worth any travel and wait!
