Crispy, tender, smothered in perfection... easily the best I've ever had. My wife ordered the cinnamon roll French toast, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it felt illegal how good it was. Like dessert disguised as breakfast in the best way possible. And don't sleep on the strawberry cream cheese pancakes--they're the kind of good that makes you pause mid-bite and rethink your life choices. Then there are the bacon twists... Brunch on a weekend around here isn't that easy to obtain. It seems the blooming population has overloaded the volume of brunch capability. The good news is there are several places that have waitlists and there are even some places that take reservations so if you're planning includes a time that's likely to attract a lot of diners. I would suggest that would be the way to decide your destination. We did in fact, use the waitlist Sunday at Perky Beans. It allowed us to see how many parties were in front of us and advised that we would be texted when our table was ready. We waited about a half hour in our vehicle until we were texted and then headed in and we were seated immediately. Junny was our server. She seated us and gave us menus. I ordered a Hazelnut Coffee and a Virgin Mary(bloody Mary without the alcohol). My granddaughter ordered Water. We took a few minutes looking over the menus. There were quite a few options. Lots of tempting items, but it's hard for me to turn down biscuits and gravy since I love homemade biscuits and unfortunately mine don't turn out-2 eggs and home fried potatoes accompanied that. My granddaughter ordered the " sample the Eggs Benedict," which offered her the option of choosing two half Benedicts offered-which is a great way to determine your preference. She also opted for the home fried potatoes. Right about then Junny went and got my Virgin Mary, which they had really done up nicely! It was every bit as pretty as the alcoholic version with a nice crisp celery, stick, and a Gerkin pickle, Green olive and fresh Orange section. It was very tasty. We waited about 40 minutes for our food. It was very busy and I think it's difficult to manage the coffee side of the café along with the dining room side especially on a very busy Sunday. (That is why I deducted one star from our rating.) It did appear that they had adequate service staff, of course we couldn't observe the kitchen area so not sure how many cooks. We did enjoy the restaurant as a whole and we do plan to return to order some of the other delicious offerings on the menu. Fantastic to have a great brunch option right in Leander!!! read more

This strikes me as a very ordinary coffee shop. Perky Beans has some great names for coffee, but other than that I don't find this shop standing out from other independent coffee shops. I ordered a Bull Frog coffee; it had white chocolate and mint. It was disappointing. I barely noticed any mint. I also ordered a mocha. It was lovely with a good balance of mocha that wasn't overly sweet or with a heavy texture. I love the way the two-go coffees are sealed with very strong stickers; they held up well on my drive home. Taking one off and on during my drive, the sticker stayed secure. It also had a really cute owl on it. If I'm in the area, I'll certainly pop back in; however, I won't be going out of my way to return. read more

I was greeted right away with a warm smile, handed a menu, and asked for my drink order. Without hesitation, I blurted out, "Coffee!"--the kind of morning where please came later. True to form, my server returned quickly with a steaming cup, and I made sure to say thank you that time. I ordered the Big 'Ol Breakfast: eggs, sausage, ham, home fries, and a side of pancakes. Waited for a while to get anyone's attention at the host stand. I felt invisible! Several employees went past but to no avail . Once someone came she was very pleasant and accommodating. I ordered the sweet potato fries that were meant to come with a special sauce but didn't and I also ordered the meatloaf with the sauce on the side and it didn't !!! It came SMOTHERED. I have heard about this place for quite a while and finally was able to stop in and enjoy their coffee. I was warmly greeted when I walked in - the place has a warm vibe to it, even with most of the tables full. Placed my latte order and was given a number instead of me waiting to hear my name called. My friends and I have been buying coffee at Perky Beans since open and have been having breakfast at PB Cafe since they open. The restaurant reminds me of small town diner dining. The young woman at the coffee counter was super nice when she took our orders and even brought our drinks to the table. When we are all in attendance, we moved over to the cafe side and were immediately seated by Amanda. She was very nice and patient as we like to talk before ordering. I have been to Perky Beans a few times with my wife and her family since they are from Liberty Hill, and we've always loved going for their lattes. Now that the café side has been open for a while, we finally got to sit down for a full brunch and had to write a review. The fried pickles were the first thing to hit the table and man, they are crunchy, flavorful, and not overly salty like a lot of other places. I went with the good ole classic breakfast with over easy eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and sourdough toast. Nothing fancy but sometimes it is the basics done right that hit best, and they nailed it. My father-in-law had the gyro wrap and he demolished it with no hesitation. He loved the flavor and especially the Greek-style sauce inside. The hashbrowns were crunchy and seasoned well and everyone at the table was trying to sneak a bite. My mother-in-law ordered the farmer omelette and I had a couple bites myself just to say I got my veggies in for the day. It was solid, full of flavor, and cooked right. But I will say, the highlight of brunch was their matcha. They didn't even have it on their menu but we simply asked for a Vanilla Matcha Latte with Cold Foam and they said "Yeah, we can do that!" First, the place is very well decorated, and the dining tables are close, but not cramped. Kudos to Karly, and Rebecca for helping my server. Not sure if today was an "off" day, but Amanda missed it with me. I won't go into detail, but she definitely dismissed me on a couple of attempts to gain her attention. Again, I will chalk it up to just being on of those days for my server. But, something can definitely be done for identifying when a customer may need some attention. It's hard to review Perky Beans as a coffee shop, as their cafe is combined on this Yelp listing. But my review is for their coffee and my experience with it. I came here to grab coffee with a friend. When I arrived, plenty of seating was available, though I was told that just 10 minutes prior, the place was packed. Only then did I realize that an interior door connected the coffee shop with the cafe, and you could order food from within the coffee shop to eat with your coffee. It's confusing if you ask me. I ordered their black drip coffee and was charged about $3 after tax. I glanced at their bagged coffee beans and noticed their unique PB coffee blend, which combines beans from five countries. As a result, it was difficult for me to taste any flavor notes in the coffee, as none of them were distinct enough. I let my burning hot coffee sit for 10-15 minutes, lid off, to let it cool down. Yet the coffee was still unremarkable, maybe a step above chain store coffee. Overall, I would likely not return here for their coffee again. However, their food looks good, and I might try that if I'm ever in the area. read more

Perky Beans has an interesting set-up, with one storefront being a restaurant that overflows into its coffee shop/cafe. Restaurant patrons are allowed to sit in the cafe part and order off the restaurant menu. I visited PB with my bf for brunch one weekend, and we were both happy with the service and food quality. My only gripe is the lack of coffee sizes. I asked for a small latte, but I guess all the lattes come in one size, in GIANT mugs. My eggs benedict dish however was phenomenal. I ordered the veggie eggs benedict, and it came with the most adorably flat hashbrown rectangle I had ever seen. I will definitely return for that hashbrown rectangle alone, lol! read more

Hands down the BEST Eggs Benedict I've ever had!!! To clarify, I ordered the Veggie Benedict as I'm a vegetarian. I've never seen a menu item like this before - if I'm lucky and a breakfast place has a vegetarian eggs Benedict option, it's usually Eggs Florentine. This Benedict, however, was better than ANY eggs Florentine I've had either!! Veggie Benedict has the typical eggs Benedict items (poached egg, hollandaise sauce, English muffin), but they added spinach, tomatoes, onions, red peppers and mushrooms. A delightful combination that added a sensational flavor to this popular breakfast dish. The service was also great. A friendly server is always an added bonus that I enjoy, which is what I got while dining here! Tip: The cafe side of this place is on the right, the left side is the coffee shop. Also, the cafe closes at 3pm while the coffee shop stays open until til 8pm. Call them if you have any questions (which is what I did) and someone friendly will be happy to help! I wish I lived closer so I could come eat this delicious menu item more often. But next time I'm in town, I'll definitely be stopping in! BLTA was outstanding for lunch today, the garlic aioli on it really sets it apart. Sweet potato fries with their cinnamon dipping sauce is like a dessert on the plate, addictive even. My wife had the buffalo chicken sandwich that had great flavor. Only thing is that the bun bottom was disintegrating due to the heat and moisture, along with the bun itself being severely undersized for the sandwich. I have also ordered the biscuits and gravy (not pictured), and OH MY was it one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. The gravy was delicious on top of the crisp biscuits, and the side of hashbrowns was well seasoned. It also came with a slice of any bread of your choosing and two eggs cooked however you prefer. I got a slice of toasted sourdough and got my eggs scrambled, and they tasted great! Another time, I came for lunch and decided on the Turkey Pesto Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. I will note, the menu said the fries came with a dipping sauce, but I never received that on my plate. However, the sandwich was SO fresh and delicious. It was way bigger than I thought it would be, and I only ate about half (and took the rest home with me, of course). The walnut pesto was so delicious paired with the mozzarella cheese and sliced turkey. Not to mention the powdered-sugar-dusted sweet potato fries were INCREDIBLE! I am a huge fan of sweet potato fries, and these were some of my favorites. They were sweet but also light and crisp with a satisfying bite to them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ All in all, I have yet to try something here that wasn't delicious!!
