The menu is mostly salads, sandwiches and quiche. You can mix them up in two or three choices. I had the crab quiche with Cobb salad and strawberry congealed salad. All three were fantastic and came with your choice of three options. The crab quiche was the standout...loaded with crab and gooey cheese. I cleaned my plate! Servings were really generous. I really could have just ordered a two choice plate and been happy. Next time I probably will do that. Our waitress was a hoot and she was very patient with me as a first time customer. She suggested the crab quiche and I am forever grateful that she did! Only open 11-3, so plan accordingly. I'll be back soon!

We started off with a Mint Mocha Iced Coffee for me & a Honey Caramel Crunch Iced Coffee (hubby). Both were great. We shared the Holey Donuts, which came piping hot with sides of chocolate sauce & blueberry sauce. These were a tasty treat. I had the Pesto Chicken Power Bowl (my favorite item on the menu) & it was perfectly cooked, along with a side of fresh fruit. My spouse had the Works Omelet with toast & a side of Million Dollar Potatoes. They loved it and raved about those potatoes. We had tons of food & lots of leftovers packed up to go. Alexis was our server and she was very attentive & sweet. So many employees stopped by to check on us and thank us for coming out. The space is really cute & loved the Leander mural. Looking forward to going again when they're open 'for real' very soon. Check them out.

The reviews on Google were mainly about the "waiting for food/service/seating " *Something told me TRY IT ANYWAYS!* The family-of-4 loaded up and drove 15 min! Upon arrival, the strip mall was clean and the Restaurant was poppin'! I was prepared to wait for host/service (& kept my mindset positive) WE WERE GREETED by the kind hostess IMMEDIATELY, & promised a table within 10 min ONLY TO BE SEATED WITHIN 7!! Yay! The space was bright & tight yet purposefully placed. the booth we sat in felt cozy, & had perfect people watching opportunities (as well as kitchen watching). The kind handsome young lad that was our waiter instantly gave down to earth and humble vibes. His quiet deep voice, dreads & baggy jeans screamed "youngster with a passion" (honestly I enjoyed his presence, he reminded me of my son) He showed up often enough, yet still gave us our family connection space! So GOOD! So so good)*** I kept warning my family "NOW REMEMBER, these are special waffles.. they have to milk the WAFFLE COW FIRST, SO PUT ON YOUR PATIENT PANTS". We ordered drinks from their seasonal menu (a must) : The Coconut Chai tea Iced! My Husband was stationed in Hawaii for most our families life, and this drink brought us back to the Islands Our food arrived HOT & fresh within 10-14minutes! Every item was superbly smothered in the sauce of choice 1st meal: eggs Benedict ! I always have to order extra hollandaise sauce: NOT TODAY!! The sauce was buttery smooth and the waffle was crisp yet soft, everything was delicious ! I needn't add a thing! 2nd meal: The BLT (-added smashed avocado) my daughter is the a BLT critic, she crafts them up, and orders them often! Her words : "wow this might as well be the best BLT I have ever tasted!!" 3rd meal: my son orders the chicken and waffles, the gravy was the star of this dish! His discovery was mixing the warm syrup with the seasoned gravy to add the perfect sweet savory concoction to every chicken and waffle bite! 4the meal: my husband was craving a classic omelette! He chose to do the build drone omelette, he put exactly what he wanted on it nothing more nothing less! And of course he chose the waffle to go! From the warm better, to the sweet syrup and everything in between from potatoes to beverages to heaven and back! WE ALL HIGHLY Highly recommend this mom-&-Pop shop! I hope this business goes far, I hope it spreads across the land! Well done! Well done!

This family-owned restaurant is located in the former band hall of Taylor Jr High School, built in the 1950s. The band theme's presence throughout the restaurant is a nice touch, and not at all kitschy. There are breakfast, lunch, and dinner sections on the menu, but it seems like all are available at any one time. Pricing is reasonable. There is also a dessert case with a tempting selection of homemade pies. We were seated immediately on arrival, and service was excellent from start to finish. We ordered lunch and dinner selections. Items in the lunch section of the menu come with one side, anything from fries to fried okra, mashed potatoes to fruit. Dinner selections include 2 sides. There are also daily specials every day. They were out of the Wednesday special, lasagna, by the time we got there. We all enjoyed the food. I had shrimp tacos and a side of seasoned fries. They were nicely presented and tasted great. The dressing, made with Sriracha, was not spicy. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. After lunch, my friends shared a piece of homemade pie they said was really good. They are regular patrons of Plowman's, but this was my first visit. The menu has a great choice of items I'd love to try in the future. This means I'll be back for sure!

The fried green tomatoes are great here but for me, almost everything else was a disappointment. Not as kid-friendly as you'd expect. It pains me to leave such a low rating (and I rarely do) but this was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had in a while. And it didn't have to be that way so hopefully my review can grab someone's attention. This place has so much potential because it's in such a cool location -- the band hall of an old high school (fun decor and cool nostalgic vibes). I had really high hopes for this restaurant but it let me down. Here's what went wrong. THE FOOD: First and foremost, the food was disappointing... except for their vegetable appetizers. The fried green tomatoes were fantastic. Nailed it in terms of texture and flavor. My husband and I were both surprised by how good they were. Their Brussels sprouts appetizer was really good as well. After that, it was all downhill. I had the Mom's Meatloaf with two sides: Cowboy Caviar and green beans. The meatloaf wasn't bad but it wasn't exactly a loaf -- it was like meatballs connected together? I didn't taste the bacon in the tomato sauce and the portion felt tiny -- same size as the sides. The sides were a real letdown. The green beans tasted like they came straight from a Jolly Green Giant can. The Cowboy Caviar (which I usually love) was so bland. It was like they just poured beans and corn and pepper and onion in and that's it. I didn't taste any seasoning. Cowboy Caviar needs to have that zing (many simple recipes use Italian salad dressing). Moving onto my husband's dish which was probably the worst part. His tomato soup tasted like marinara sauce but we were hoping the filet mignon would deliver. It was simply not good. It wasn't as tender as filet mignon needs to be -- it was chewy. It did seem to be cooked as requested (medium rare) but it didn't taste good and seemed flavorless -- almost as if the meat was poor quality. Now, I know that filet mignon is a much more mild tasting cut and less flavorful than a ribeye for instance, but still, something felt very off with this steak. Neither of us enjoyed it and that's a bummer (especially at that price point). KIDS: Usually restaurants like this one are more kid-friendly so I was a bit surprised. Our kids are 3.5YO and 2YO. They brought a booster for my youngest. It had no straps at all (which I'm not even complaining about because those straps are broken at literally every restaurant). We were in a booth so it worked okay mostly. What I'm unhappy about is the lack of coloring options and kids menus. We were not brought any crayons and coloring paper upon seating so we inquired. The waitress said she'd look and ended up coming back with crayons and some paper placemats to doodle on? I respect the ingenuity but I was confused. They have crayons on hand but they don't offer them to the kids? What's the deal with that? They didn't have a kids menu printed anywhere and the waitress just told us the offerings out loud. So is there an official kids menu or not? I'd like to be able to see the prices as well. Also a bit perplexing. We went ahead and ordered one grilled cheese for the kids to share and I'm glad because it was big but also not very good. The bread was too dense so it was more of a bread sandwich. My kids weren't that into it. Almost forgot -- the fries that came with the grilled cheese were actually very good (got to give credit where it's due). TIME: Our food took forever. It wasn't a fun wait -- the kids were getting super restless. The waitress stopped by a couple times to tell us that "our food is just around the corner." Even though it ended up being untrue -- I appreciate her checking in.

All of my followers know that I'm a huge fan of breakfast, and finding a new, affordable breakfast spot is always a win! We walk in, get seated immediately and start to check the menu. The choices are great. FYI, there is a separate breakfast and dinner menu. For an Italian restaurant, there are great breakfast menu choice. More than I expected. While we're sitting I noticed the background music sounds very clear and crisp. We immediately discover there's a soloist on the piano and he's singing a lively melody of various. he's actually very good. I didn't expect this over breakfast. I ordered the "Prohibition", eggs, bacon, hash browns and 2 pancakes for $14.99. The portions were adequate and the pancakes were delicious. My lovely wife ordered the "Double Barrel", two Biscuits and Gravy, with two sausage patties, and sausage gravy - $10.99. Now my wife really loves a good flavorful sausage gravy. She was happy to see that her portion had lots of sausage chunks in the gravy. The location is limited in size, but they make up for it with ambiance, service and value. This is truly a locals hangout, as there seemed to be a lot of regulars popping in and grabbing seats. Our server, "Becky K", was nothing short of amazing. She was so helpful and since it was our first time, she gave us a brief history of the restaurant and the popular food choices. She also romanced us with the idea of desert. She offered us a "Orange Cycle" cheesecake slice and it was scrumptious. So sweet and delicious with a gram cracker crust. I really hope you get a chance to visit the Red Door Kitchen. When you do, please ask for Becky and tip her well. I'm sure she's earned it. Michael C.- Georgetown, Tx.

I have heard high praise from locals, and at the end of the day, nothing beats a city's local diner. I came in a little after 11 am with the man who is basically the face of Hutto at his request. He has lived in Hutto for years and has countless stories of the city to share. We sat as he shared stories with my co worker and me about the history of the city. He is a wonderful man, and if he thinks Hippo Cafe is a must visit, DAMMIT, it is a must visit. The place feels ripped straight out of the 80s with artwork of musicians including Elvis and Willie Nelson, along with Alf, ET, and Gizmo. It is definitely dated, but in the best way. Looking at the menu, they have everything you would expect a diner to have. Everything is decently priced and affordable. I ordered two breakfast tacos and a tea. One was bacon, egg, and cheese. The other was chorizo, egg, and cheese. They were not winning any awards, but my god they were like an omelet on a tortilla. They were filled with eggs. With a little picante sauce, they were great and felt like a classic diner meal. The service is great. Our lady was attentive and very friendly to us. That seems to be the vibe here. There's a lot of 1 stars here, but trust the guy with the Yelp Elite badge and the essay of a review, it's not a 1 star establishment. It's more.
