Oh we had the best breakfast here! We had a little girls brunch and had the best service. First, the restaurant is beautiful inside. We arrived early on a Sunday morning and there was only 1 table left right next to the host stand (ew). The host was quick to offer a small wait for an upstairs table at more servers would be on soon and it would open up more tables. We opted to wait the 20mins or so and we're so glad we did! The upstairs really is the best space. Our server was top notch and he put up with our requests and banter with a smile. I requested a carafe of coffee as my friend and I can really go through coffee... he obliged my request! Like I said, top notch. For came out quickly and beautiful plated! I ordered the shrimps and grit cake and yaasssssss!! I was worried it would be dry but it was fabulous! I usually feel guilty eating shrimp and grits but this was so good and filling and not at all greasy! Friend ordered a basket of waffles to share. OMG GET THEM! They have a fantastic texture with a little bit of sugar crusted on them. Very surprising and now a necessity when we visit. read more

I really didn't want to leave this review, but I think management needs to know what's going on. Dined here on Tuesday the 21st of July. Upon entry we were advised of a 15 minute wait, but looking around the restaurant was nowhere near capacity with the upstairs completely empty, and downstairs there were 2-3 open tables. We were advised after finally being seated that management didn't want to overwhelm the wait staff (to which there was only one working). The hostess did help out with minor table duties on occasion, but management never once lifted a finger in the front of the house, nor made themselves available. I don't know the circumstances for how they got into this situation (lack of staff), but I do know there are a lot more people looking for jobs, then jobs available. Possibly it was a back of the house staffing issue in this case, as the front of the house server, really wasn't that busy. There was still plenty of time for the manager and assistants to be on their cell phones. Wait staff present seemed to be new, so the blame can't be placed on them. Case in point, a part of 8 came in and were told to wait, to which they did, all the while the table they eventually sat in (20-30 minutes later) lay open the entire time. When they were seated they inquired about appetizers and drinks. One comment from the party (to other members of their party) "we could have sat here the whole time" which was true. They could have been drinking drinks, socializing instead of sitting on the wooden waiting benches. During the time we dined at least a dozen individuals either left the restaurant after finding out the wait times, or upon entering seeing the full waiting area decided to dine elsewhere. Service was slow (as expected with one server), but what was odd, is other than the back of the house staff (helping to deliver food), nobody else pitched in much to try and help (other than table setting or clearing). Sometimes crowds come and go, but when business is good, you hustle, and when business is slow you can relax a bit. If there is non-stop business, then it's time to increase the wait staff. The server who was working was pleasant, but offered no apologies or explanations as to why everything was running so slowly. Sometimes just a quick apology goes a long ways. Food was fine, although it was obvious it had been sitting a little while before arriving at the table. Drink glasses were not refilled, asked about the entire evening. When the meal was finished, it took quite a while for the server to recognize, before clearing or payment. I know this is not an upscale restaurant, but management needs to handle the staffing better, and pitch in when needed. read more

So I guess we haven't been here for a minute... came here Friday around 4PM, we had a craving for fried chicken and didn't want to drive to Round Rock. The place was empty beside us and one other table. Our server sat us and brought water and menus. Honestly I didn't even need one since I know what I wanted. The bacon wrapped sausage pops and a half bone in fried chicken... To our disappointment, they no longer offer bone in fried chicken or any fried chicken! No bacon wrapped sausage pops either, no bacon fried rice or the delicious items we were used to. WTH?? Asking our very nice server, what gives?? She wasn't really sure but thought it had to do with the fried chicken taking too long to prepare and people waiting for their orders. Man what a bummer. So we decided to see what they do carry. And the answer is , not much. I should have trusted my instincts and just went somewhere else, but we had already ordered drinks. Since I had a hankering for chicken, I ordered the chicken wings with a special bbq sauce. I was thinking crispy chicken wings was as close to fried chicken pieces as I was gonna get today. My table also ordered the braised beef shoulder as it sounded delish. We also ordered two biscuits with honey butter. The biscuits arrived first. They were undercooked, dense and like warm. The honey butter was honey in a small container with cold hard butter in the middle. (Refer to pic) The food arrived and I was a bit underwhelmed. The wings were not crispy but soft and flabby. The sauce was flavorful but the wings themselves were not! They reminded me of wings I make in the microwave. The braised beef was ok but it looked nothing like the pic on the restaurants website. Lacking any sauce. Instead of collard greens, it was served with green beans that reminded me of overly cooked canned beans. The bright spot was our server, she was young but very nice and attentive. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. The menu has very limited options, especially for vegetarians, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for good vegetarian choices. Love this little location. Very upscale looking and feel. I think that they are lacking on presentation when it comes to food though. If you look at the pictures, they don't scream upscale at all. Cutting food on a piece of paper in a wire basket sucks. Hard to cut chicken and waffles on and horrible with the syrup. The Service, however, was amazing, but the food lacked when it came to the quality of the cooked chicken because some of it was perfectly cooked, whereas some looked a little overcooked. The salad tasted amazing! But the waffle was hard and in some spots difficult to cut with a knife. Overall, not bad and would love to give them a second chance! read more

A nice cafe located on the corner of the Georgetown square. This cafe has a small menu that is worth checking out. It also has alcoholic beverages for consumption. Today I stopped by and was seated right away. They were a little busy so it took a little time before they came by to get our order. The server did apologize for our wait. Adorable place! We had a reservation and arrived early, but they seated us right away. We were placed upstairs, which was noticeably warmer than downstairs--something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to temperature. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated, once we sat I ordered a margarita and the waitress said it'd be 45 minutes till we get our food and drinks, which was okay. My friend ordered sweet tea but was given unsweetened twice lol. We ended up getting everything in a timely manner. There was an ant in my water. The margarita was great. Brussel sprouts tasted amazing. The tender basket was tasty too, I understand the "specialty sauce" is a $1.00 extra, but the container was not filled, it was maybe less than half. I finally stopped by this establishment hoping to try the great famous friend chicken some of the reviews were speaking about; turns out that they have a new chef and the bone in chicken has been removed from the menu. I was definitely sad, but hey...no worries I did try something else! I got the Cheesesteak with a side of fries (loved the unique cut) and a honey mustard sauce for dipping. The food was overall good, I just wished that the meat was finely chopped and seasoned just a tad bit more, literally a tad! Service was quick and my food was super fresh; I messed up for not eating it there because my sandwich bread roll was a little soggy on the bottom, but that was my fault for taking it home lol! They did advise that they will be adding some Cajun eats to the menu, that's got me sold to come back. The staff was friendly and I most certainly loved the girl with the ginger hair, she's super awesome and had a smile on her face! Y'all better keep her! We reserved a table for 8 for a friend's Sunday surprise birthday brunch. We did call ahead and were pleased that they had no issue with us bringing a Bday cake. Even though we arrived early to surprise the Birthday girl, our table was ready, and our server brought water as we awaited the guest of honor. Service throughout our visit was excellent. Goodfolks has an extended brunch menu and some interesting cocktails to get your motor running on a Sunday Funday. Bloodies and French 75s were table favorites. Check out their online menu for a complete list of their craft cocktails and local beer offerings. Highlights were the basic classic breakfast: applewood smoked bacon, 2 Vital Farms eggs, potato hash, and Texas toast. Three of us ordered our eggs served differently, and they all arrived perfecto. Another highlight was the chicken and biscuits. This serving is huge and was a struggle for most to finish. The chicken breast arrived crispy, lightly battered as advertised. The maple sage gravy and syrup honey butter provide a sweet taste to the dish. Two of us struggled to remember what business occupied this location before Goodfolks. I visited here with two friends for brunch last Sunday. It was around lunch time. I didn't have a reservation but we were able to be seated in a timely manner. We were seated upstairs which is where the bar is located. There is also a bathroom on each floor and an elevator which I think is awesome. Our waitress Aubrey was great as it was some of our first time going to this place she helped us figure out what was the good items for brunch. Also the whole experience was good overall. The food was banging!!!!! My breakfast sandwich was so good. Everyone enjoyed their meal. No crumbs left lol. Also, the brownie was so rich and so delicious. It was a great way to end a good meal! I would have been better taken care of at Waffle House! There were 3 tables occupied when my party of 2 arrived. We were told they were "understaffed" so I would have to wait 10min. 15min later I was seated... During my wait I quickly noticed it was not a staffing issue but a training and managing issue. I ordered coffee, the table was not stocked with a selection of sugar so I asked the server for sugar, expecting I would come in a packet...I came in a disposable to-go cup and was not sugar, it was salt... So then I had to go through that whole process of getting coffee and actual sugar from an understaffed restaurant. I took a while... we order (2) egg sandwiches, they come with a choice of meat (or a tomato(, an egg and cheese. Ordered mine with tomato and the other with bacon. They came out wrong and neither one had cheese. Now, I said all that to say this, the front of house manager should have dawned an apron and started waiting these tables and had the clearly new server seating people and tending to drinks until proper staff showed up. Sat at the bar (make sure to look up at the cool ceiling) and the experience was wonderful. The decor and ambiance was fun, bright and design forward. The space of the entire restaurant is gorgeous with the second tier tables looking over the ground floor space. Service was spectacular. Negroni was perfect. The biscuits are a must, 10/10. Coleslaw was 10/10, perfectly dressed with a slightly sweet but tangy dressing. White meat fried chicken was dry and overcooked, 3/10. Seasoning wasn't quite there. Truffle Mac and cheese was decent but barely tasted any truffle, 5/10, and more like butter noodles. Hubs got the buffalo chicken burger and said was good. Tried his fries and they were great! We tried for the first time today I got a chicken sandwich To Go and my wife got the braised beef and mashed potatoes which she ate there. We loved the food here and the Southern comfort menu is fantastic. One thing no collards please remove for menu and next no lemonade cake. However, the dining room is small with historic hard surfaces that amplify every sound. As I said we were there today around 4 pm, one incredibly large, loud customer completely dominated the entire room. The menu is now very simple and fast food-like and the food isn't cooked well or tastes very good. Before: It had classier, more complex, and better prepared food. The food itself was cooked to perfection and the flavors were interesting. Now: Pretzel bites were definitely from a bag and extremely overcooked with barely any salt. The cheese was served in a disposable plastic bowl. They don't really use dish-ware anymore and serve in baskets and paper. This used to be our favorite Georgetown spot. We've been here countless times and loved it, but unfortunately today we were just... disappointed. They seemed to have made many changes in the last three months. First, you don't order at the table anymore. It's fine, but compared to before we just felt very rushed, especially since the menu had changed. When the food came, we didn't get the sides we had picked for our sandwiches. When we asked about it, they told us that they were out of that particular side and forgot to tell us. Again that would be fine, except instead of letting us know and asking us to pick a new one from the available options, they just gave us a random side. We ordered the PBLT for the first time and were disappointed with the "simplicity" of it. It was literally just toast with a piece of lettuce, a piece of tomato, a large amount of mayo, and a few pork belly slices. It didn't taste bad but was not something I'd order again, I could've easily made that at home The chicken & waffles dish used to be our absolute favorite with its delicious, thick, and fluffy waffles. Today, we were served tiny, thin, and hard waffles that felt like eating old eggo waffles. The dish was also served in a wire basket with paper instead of a plate which meant we basically cut the chicken on the table. See attached picture for reference. On the plus side, the staff is still very nice and attentive and the place looks beautiful as always. All in all, we sincerely hope they reverse all these (what felt like) downgrades. If you're up North and craving fried chicken and potatoes in multiple forms, this is the spot! Beautifully succulent chicken (recommend the bone in 1000% over the tenders) with great flavor and so dang juicy. The breading is lighter than what I typically enjoy and some of the skin was a little soft for eating, but overall, quite satisfactory. The dips are highly recommended, so I went with the ranch. Thumbs up for sure. With the four piece combo, you get two sides and two biscuits. Lemme tell ya something, these biscuits are BUTTERY. I was slightly thrown off when they didn't offer butter to go with them, but once I tried it, I realized that they channeled their inner Paula Deen with this recipe. As for sides, I chose the coleslaw which had a nice tang and was well mayo'd but without globs. Top 3 coleslaw I've had this year. The potato salad was also a winner. The dining hall has two levels with the main first floor dining area and then a lofted second floor that a pretty staircase leads directly up to. Pretty, but there were some screaming children whose war cries echoed throughout the entire space. Obviously not the staff's fault, just maybeee more of a family friendly spot than a date night place - just to set expectations for your visit. Our waitress was super accommodating and friendly. Husband's fish was undercooked and chewy. 2 orders of Chicken tenders were overcooked and dry, and green beans were hard, cold and rubbery. One bite and I was done. How do you mess up green beans so badly that I didn't eat any. Chicken tenders were also too small for price paid. Cocktails overpriced for the casual atmosphere. The waitress was nice when we told her about the fish and thought she was doing us a favor by taking $3,00 off the order when it should have been a total credit for the fish at least. Really? $3.00 credit? Kinda insulting for an entree that couldn't be eaten. Should have made a bigger deal of it but we were treating our family to dinner and didn't want to put a damper on the evening! We won't be back. read more

Our server & food was great. Love the atmosphere and location. Would not recommend messing with the hostess upon check-in. Maybe she had an off morning, she wasn't welcoming, not pleasant at all. We eat at this restaurant 1-2 times a month. We are confused at the current situation of long waits, lack of people actually sitting in the restaurant and waitstaff that is trying but overwhelmed. Our drinks were only filled after we were ready to go. Three tables around us had empty glasses. Two tables actually walked away and left the restaurant after waiting too long for service. I did not get my Brussels and asked and finally got them when ready to leave. I got a take away box and it actually had holes in the bottom and all the juice was all over the table and my shirt. No one was in the front of the house for me to get help. Literally everyone sitting was waiting on something. We paid $60.00 for no refills, no Brussels' and a long wait. Hearing "no problem, of course and sorry," gets old. Please do better. We intentionally went to your restaurant for a nice Saturday lunch and left shaking our heads. Just ordered food from this place for the first and last time. The fish was bland and it was a very small portion with many bones (catfish). The red beans and rice was horrible. The rice was undercooked and had no flavor. I kept crunching on something hard. We ordered to go and when we arrived to pick it up there was no on in the restaurant. It tasted like the grease needed to be changed, but after taking another look at photos, mine was identical to the usual presentation. Maybe it's just an acquired taste. We popped into Goodfolks for dinner last night (Thursday). It wasn't too busy, just a few tables. We were seated right away. Probably five tables with patrons. The decor is very cute, simple and tasteful. We noticed some of the art was actually what looked to be depictions of Georgetown buildings. I love seeing local art. The tables were a little close, we were all listening to each other's conversations. Table to the left was a bit louder and I learned a lot about their business venture (very exciting-hope it goes well)! Table to the right was the sweetest family! While it was enjoyable, I can imagine if fully seated it might be a bit harder to converse with your table. Our waiter was very personable and made recommendations as it was our first visit. The dishes we tried were: Queso and Chips Cajun Chicken Sandwich Chicken Fried NY Strip White chocolate bread pudding Strawberries and Buttermilk cake Every thing we had was freshly and well cooked. We came here with a large party for late lunch and was quickly seated. We've been here a couple times already and we always enjoy the southern and modern aesthetic feel of the restaurant. It has a great location on the square! They are known for their biscuits with hot honey and they have never disappointed! The menu here is great for folks with food allergies, clearly labeled and the wait staff is knowledgeable about the process and product. My wife said it's probably the best gluten free bread she has had in a long time. It's got a bit of old school diner feel to it but slightly more upscale- marble like table tops. We both ordered a chicken sandwich and all their choices can be ordered fried or grilled. Gluten free bun but ALSO a gluten free breading option if you want the fried chicken. The fries are a unique cut, sorta like a cross between a steak fry and a curly fry. They were cooked to a golden brown which I really appreciated.
