Went tonite for our weekly date nite; first visit to Georgie's though we've been in Georgetown since 2003. Saw the name when searching seafood here. The website mentioned reservations but accepting walk-ins also; my wife made a reservation for 8 at 7:40p, and that turned out well, as the couple in front of us hadn't done so & went out front to wait. We had a very attentive waitress, & sat on a raised stage by the window which was cool, but note: tall chairs there maybe not great for short legs. When she poured our water we didn't have to request, she left the carafe, which I supposed was a labor saving idea --until she came back repeatedly and refilled our glasses with it! It aided our date night that the two flat screens had artworks displayed not a basketball game or Chive videos of folks getting injured for 15 seconds of fame. Menu is in the upper middle price range for us but we did an easy work-around to get some upscale food, anyway:: We ordered a bowl of gumbo from the appetizer list, with two spoons; (yeah, been married 41 years)... Arrived perfect temp, not to hot to dig right in. The 6 crab claws broken to expose the meat were a nice touch we've never seen; we try everyone's gumbo: prolly the best we've had recently if ever. Continuing that theme, we shared the 14 oz Japanese style (name recipes me) new horn strip, truly too much for one normal appetite: the already flavorful tender steak was helped even more by a unique brown sauce with capers: and my Dad said a good steak doesn't NEED any help. Well, this steak was so good let's just say "the sauce was gravy." We like Brussels sprouts broiled; so my wife asked when ordering the steak, which comes with creamed sprouts, if they could be broiled: instead our waitress asked the chefs who actually flash fried them with salt and pepper, perfectly, with crunchy outer leaves & al dent inside. My wife ordered a 14.00 glass of Pinot noir; the cool wine glass was a generous size --and filled generously. We like the pretentious wine descriptions from the backs of bottles; bartender let us take a photo of the label but suggested the "vivino" app to get the lowdown on any wine. Finished off sharing the bread pudding with rum soaked yellow raisins, great flavor without excess sweetness, and thanked our waitress Katy. read more

My wife and I tried Georgie's and really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was clean. I ordered the shrimp po-boy and my wife ordered the redfish. My wife ordered one of their signature drinks (the Georgie) and they were out. We also attempted to order the fish dip and they were out of that as well. Oddly, when I bit into the shrimp po-boy I was surprised that the tail of the shrimp along with the shell was still on. Every shrimp on the po-boy was like that. The redfish was cooked well but lacked flavor. It also came with a jalapeno grit cake that had absolutely no flavor. The sauce on the Redfish had a pinkish hue that looked unappealing. Georgie's in Georgetown is a casual and laid back restaurant and bar. My friend and I stopped here for a rest during the Red Poppy festival. The environment inside the restaurant was warm and welcoming. There was a stand outside Georgie's restaurant taking drink orders to go. Other than downtown Austin, I was not aware where you could drink adult beverages outside a restaurant or bar. We ordered a crab cake, Georgie's margarita and a frozen margarita. The drinks were refreshing after being in the sun for a bit. The crab cake was good but could have used a little less mayonnaise. We went to Georgie's for our anniversary dinner and had a great experience. We started with a Georgie's margarita and the blueberry poppy lemonade- both were super refreshing. For appetizers, we had the crab cake and ceviche. Both were really good, but the crab cake stood out- honestly one of the best I've had. For our mains, we shared the seabass and redfish. The portions were generous, and both dishes were flavorful and cooked really well. We made reservations, though it wasn't very busy when we went. The interior is clean and has a great atmosphere. We came to Georgie's for dinner for the first time. This restaurant is in the Georgetown Square. It's very comfortable very clean and very friendly. There was a mixed array of the way people dressed. Some people were dressed very casual. I saw some people who were definitely on a date. I dressed very nicely in a dress with some pearls. No matter how people were dressed they were all comfortable. My server was amazing. I wish I could remember his name. I remember he was a teacher in addition to a server. He served us homemade potato chips with dip before dinner. My husband had shrimp and hush puppies with cauliflower and he really enjoyed it. I told him about my diet and he recommended for me, White Fish Branzino. It was "oh my goodness" good! It was a whole fish, which had been cooked with herbs and lemons inside. It had a beautiful herb and tomato salad aside it which was also very tasty. I was served a red Italian wine, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant was quite busy so I do recommend reservations. We had reservations. You won't be disappointed eating at Georgie's. The best Mac and cheese I have had in a LONG time. The bluefin tuna was melt in your mouth cooked to perfection (we asked for it to be cooked medium instead of rare and they accommodated!). Huge wedge salad with generous portion of shrimp. And the bread pudding was the cherry on top of an excellent meal. Other things to note: 3% fee on credit cards. We made a reservation but it didn't look like a long wait even on a Friday night, the place was full though. Lots of people getting oysters and cocktails but they only had Texas oysters the night we were there and we only do cold water oysters. Absolutely excellent food and outstanding service all around, but WAY too loud for us, sadly probably won't go back due to that alone! read more

I noticed that when you eat here, the terminal charges the 3% credit card surcharge to compensate for the service charge that a credit card charges. That's all legal and fine but then they include that charge to the total on which you pay tip.. which is like double taxation. Then the terminal rounds up to .2098 on a 20% tip so you're effectively paying another 1% on top that you didn't foresee. None of this is technically illegal but it's feels icky. I doubt they are the only restaurant that is doing this but I've been eating out a lot and noticed they are the only one so far with the terminal software set up this way. Might be good to let people know you're charging this way or fix your terminal software to correctly reflect the accurate tipping at least. read more

Came in on a Wednesday night with a group of 10 for a birthday, totally recommend making a reservation if you have a big group. They were super accommodating and gave such great service. We had brought a cake, there is a cutting fee, but they waived it for us. Drinks were good and normal pricing for this type of restaurant. Food was really good. Party of two, reservation Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m.. This was our first time here since the location was converted to Georgie's. When you walk in it's completely different from what it was before. Now it is light and bright and open. I was a little caught off guard when we walked in and there was an overwhelming fish smell. The fish smell stayed on my jacket, Even when I got home later in the evening. It kind of turned me off from ordering anything raw. Our server was so friendly and attentive, She made the experience amazing! I had the rye by the fire cocktail. It was really good and I appreciated the smokey effect and the hint of vanilla. I was super excited to try the hush puppies because I had read so many good things about them and they did not disappoint. Great flavor great texture and the hot honey just set it off. The crab cake was good but did not have hardly any flavor. I should have added some tartar sauce or hot sauce for an additional kick. The beat salad was really good, especially if you like beets. Now let's talk about the red fish dish. We were expecting a burst of flavor being that it was chili dusted with a tomato butter, But there was hardly any flavor at all. I was shocked. I expected some great chili vibe but no. And the grit cake tasted like starch with zero seasoning at all, there was no jalapeno no seasoning no flavor It was like eating a starchy air. Mehhh Super cute spot in Downtown Georgetown that had been on my list of places to try. We had a table at a high top by the door. Service was good, food was just ok. We started with the George Margarita and the specialty spritzer with gin, both were tasty and not too sweet. In addition to the ceviche, oysters and crab claws. No oyster options, they had Texas east coast farmed which were ok, not too large or small with a sweetness. The ceviche was missing something so I added salt and that did the trick but the accompanying chips were . They had no flavor and a stale consistency ‍ maybe that was the intent. The crab claws were a little fishy and had way too much broth but overall weren't bad, maybe 3/5. For entrees I decided to go smash burger and fried shrimp/oyster basket. Smash burger was well prepared, I swapped fries with broccolini. The fried seafood was a miss. The batter was similar to an unseasoned tempura and the hush puppies were very doughy, that dish is a pass. I'd return but will stick with appetizers or the burger but if I'm craving seafood there definitely are better options even if that means going outside of Georgetown. read more

I heard of this place and had to make it soon enough. Finally was able to come in and try the food. I love what they did to the place, it looks spacious and open with the nice light and accents. We had the shrimp and crab cake as well as the house margarita. I really liked the crab cake a lot more than the shrimp. However, the shrimp was definitely fun to eat since it comes with the shell. I liked the fact that we came in on a week day and avoided the weekend crowd. We had excellent service and very attentive staff. I would love to sit at the bar next time and see the place from a different perspective. It's a place you really want to hang out at, either with friends, family or in a date. Their drink list is long and makes you want to try everything. Again, I love the ambiance and just for an appetizer and a drink is a very cool place to visit. read more

Fantastic dinner experience this week at Georgie's.... We concur with many of the online reviews that complain about how loud the place is .... The solution... get the early! We arrived when they opened and had a great dinner! Our waiter was Dave! Thank you sir! Excellent job! By 5:30pm it was getting pretty loud.... We talked to some locals who said the owners are limited by mods they can make "historical building" stuff, cannot fix the sound issue. Suggest lowering the volume of the music, let the banter be the noise! We sampled across the menu... crab cake was delicious, one of the best we've had in a while. Ceviche and ahi poke tacos were super fresh, all made to order, great taste! The sake sea bass was awesome, cannot go wrong there! The gumbo was good, but needed a bit more depth of flavor (more spices)... plenty of seafood in the and the andouille was great! Cool place, nice vibe... the noise issue could be better, but improvements likely limited by building codes. Dine early and often! Highly recommend Georgie's! read more

Needed a date-night-out dinner later in the evening in Georgetown. Georgie's had tables available and we'd heard good things, especially about seafood. Started with Oysters and the Tuna Poke Tacos - both were good but the tuna tacos were extraordinary - crunchy and soft, salty and light - good balance all around! I had the chile-dusted redfish. It was good, but the portion seemed small for an entree (especially compared to the appetizers). My wife had the creme brulee for desert and it was really well made - good custard, perfect texture. Definitely a place we'd come back to - and a place to use your Resy Amex credit! One star off for a very, very loud room - wood floors, stone walls - noise just bounces off everything. read more

What a fun afternoon shopping, eating, and sipping in Georgetown. Had to give Georgie's a try. We arrived at 11:45 and it was a perfect time. No customers until noon! We got to visit with our server and learned all about the restaurant. It's not very big, but it has everything needed to make a fun dining experience. Highly recommend the Branzino as well as the pimento cheese starter. Nice list of wines and the specialty cocktails are amazing. After eating lunch we shopped til we dropped, but did return at 4:45 to grab a to-go order to take home. By 5pm, the place was hopping! Highly recommend reservations. read more

We visited Georgie's during opening week, so keeping in mind that it was a brand-new restaurant, the experience was solid overall. The ambience is beautiful and the location is great, though the acoustics inside are a bit loud. We ordered the shishito peppers, hush puppies, tuna poke tacos, sea bass, red fish, and a grilled cheese for our daughter. Of all the dishes, the red fish stood out as the most, though nothing was overwhelmingly amazing on this first visit. Given that it was opening week, I'd absolutely go back to try it again and reevaluate more of the menu. I love the aesthetics and can easily see this being a great spot for a girls' night or a date night with my husband. read more

I've been twice to take out-of-town guests visiting me in Georgetown! Everything we've ordered on both visits to include signature drinks, sides, salads and entrees were nothing short of OUTSTANDING! Everyone loved sharing the Shishito peppers, blue crab Mac&Cheese, all four salads and then Chile dusted Redfish, and the Sea-bass entrees. I'm taking all my special guests to Georgie's! Georgie's is still a relatively new spot in Downtown Georgetown, just off the square. It's a quaint place with a great feel. The service each time I've gone has been great. Service was super quick, and the food came out hot and fresh. Everything tasted great, especially the gumbo and my friend's blue crab mac and cheese $26 (phenomenal!). Portions didn't always match the price $24 for a chicken thighs and $23 for fish and chips felt steep, and the gumbo was small for $13. That said, staff were very friendly and attentive, and the downtown Georgetown location is really aesthetic with parking nearby (sometimes a short walk). After enjoying a fine dinner at Wish Kitchen and Bar in Liberty Hill a couple weeks ago, the owner Mike told us about Georgie's in Georgetown which he is also involved with. We tried to get a reservation on Resy last minute, but couldn't so we decided to try a walk in. The place was full at 5:45 on a Friday but we did find a couple open seats at the bar (they serve the full menu at the bar). We were immediately greeted by Kevin the bartender who asked if we had been in before (which we had not). He proceeded to describe their chef's background and talked about a couple off-menu specials they had going. He then took our drink and raw oyster order, which he mentioned came from Maine and were described as sweet, tender, small and delicious (I was quickly sold!). Our drinks arrived quickly and the oysters came out within 5 minutes. Since my wife doesn't eat oysters, I was able to thoroughly enjoy the dozen tasty bivalves on my own. They were ice cold, and just as delicious as Kevin described. After devouring the oysters, within a few minutes our entrees arrived. I ordered the Chile-Dusted Redfish, which was accompanied by a Jalapeño grit cake, honey thyme carrots, and drizzled with tomato butter. My wife ordered the Sake-Roasted Sea Bass (highly recommended by Kevin), which came with a generous serving of garlic-fried green beans and topped with a pea greens salad, all surrounded by a ginger lemongrass broth. My Redfish was a game changer! I have had Redfish prepared many ways, but this dish topped anything I have ever had. Tender, flaky, and full of flavor. The chile-dusting was just right, and the carrots and grit cake complemented the fish in a spectacular manner. I cleaned my plate! My wife's Sea Bass was incredible. Flaky, thick, meaty but not dense, with an absolutely amazing sake glaze that brought the fish to the next level. The green beans were slightly crispy and coupled very nicely with the fish and small pea greens salad topping. My wife rarely finishes her whole plate but that was not the case tonight. She ate all but a few of the green beans, which I quickly snatched off her plate and devoured. Overall: Ambiance - 9/10 (just a bit noisy (but it is a smaller place in all fairness), so if you have hearing aids, plan to take them out) Service - 10+/10 Kevin was amazing! If you have the option to sit at the bar, do yourself a favor and enjoy his service. Food: - 10+/10 I can't say enough about how good our food was. Next time we want to try some of the other dishes as well. This is a great addition to the Georgetown food scene. Do yourself a favor and stop in (or make a reservation) and enjoy a wonderful meal. Wife and I were discussing dinner for a Thursday night and I was thinking of something new-to-us on the Square or Fish City (a favorite). I started investigating Georgie's. My only hesitancy was the available pictures and the place looked a little "sterile". We decided on Georgie's and I am glad we did. First, the place is not "sterile" and we really liked the layout and vibe. The customers were a wide range of ages and we decided we were the oldest people there. Greeter was extremely nice and we chose to sit at one of the high-top tables. Our server, Beth, then comes over to greet us. Beth is an excellent and personable server. We enjoyed talking with her. Wife and I grew up in the South and have eaten fried green tomatoes all our lives. Wife said they were the best she had ever eaten and came to the table hot. I also thought they were delicious. My oyster po boy was very good and wife enjoyed the the chicken and farro. The entire meal was a great experience. The owners were working the tables and checking-in on the guests. They were flying under the radar and I asked if he was the owner. Later, the manager, a rather young fellow, comes over to our table. It was all a nice touch. Finally, Georgie's is an excellent addition to the Square and rivals our other favorite restaurants on the Square....Wildfire and Blue Corn Harvest. We finally got an Austin level top Michelin-esque dining experience here in Georgetown! The food we had was delicious and this is definitely my new favorite restaurant in the square. The space feels upscale but not stuffy. Best ceviche I've ever had with a nice fresh kick from the jalapeño. Fries and potato chips were perfectly fried and seasoned...best part was they weren't too salty like other places. Burger was perfect and the pickles it came with tasted homemade. Fantastic Negroni.
