Bull creek brewing beers!
Nicole G.

We loved our visit to Jacks! We only had about 30 minutes to grab a drink before they closed but never felt rushed. It's the bar in the lobby of the Sheraton Austin-Georgetown Conference Center and is very open with plenty of seating. The bartender that served us was so friendly and engaged easily in our conversation. Whenever we travel we like to check out their local craft beer available. I love stouts so when I saw the Iron Balls Imperial Stout by Bull Creek Brewing (brewed in Texas) I had to try it! It was pretty good but not my all time favorite. It had very subtle chocolate hints. I wanted to taste more of the vanilla and caramel but I just wasn't getting them. It was smooth though overall and had an abv of 8.4% so you'll definitely like them more and more as you drink them haha! My husband got the Tommy Raj which was an IPA breeed by the same company in Texas and he liked it. He thought it had a good coloring and the aftertaste wasn't overwhelmingly hoppy. We wish it was open later on a Friday to stay longer but we were able to bring a drink up to our room at least :)

The food was genuinely excellent, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. The bed was also a standout -- more comfortable than what I've experienced at most four-star hotels. I also loved the in-room Nespresso machine, which was a great touch. The only drawbacks are the location and setting. It's not ideal if you want to be close to a more metropolitan, walkable area, and being right on the creek means there can be quite a few bugs, especially in the evening. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a relaxing, stylish getaway with great food and very comfortable rooms.

This charming, quaint boutique hotel is located in a residential neighborhood in Round Rock, TX. The Ruby Hotel & Bar is situated along Brushy Creek in historic downtown Round Rock. The hotel has 39 uniquely designed rooms and suites, in the suburbs of Austin, TX. The hotel blends mid-century modern design with natural surroundings, creating a chic vibe. The property is distinctly divided into to major buildings...the hotel and the bar. There is a random small building up front also...not sure what that buildings for. There is also outdoor seating, which would be pleasant in the summer. Last night we had freezing temperatures, so sub-optimal for seating outside. When we entered the bar, we felt transported to another place in time. Retro looking furniture at the entry with finger dialed phones...my nieces and nephews would likely not have any idea what these little machines called telephones were. The bar was a mix of old - building built in the 1960s....new - modern mirrors and bar. There was signage at the front of the bar that stated to seat yourself and place your order from the bar (different set up...for sure). We ordered the hummus plate minus pita bread plus more cucumbers. Alan, our server was very accommodating to make that switch. We had herbal hot tea (chamomile and pomegranate berry). We listened to the 3 person band, who sang music from Johnny Cash to Bob Marley and so many different genres in between. What a lovely evening...date night score!

I want to start by saying, the venue is beautiful, the preferred vendors are great to work with,…read moreand the venue coordinator is very responsive and helpful leading up to your wedding. Our world shut down in Texas 3 weeks before our wedding date. I am giving The Union 1 star due to the fact that they were not willing to refund out deposits. I had to cancel my wedding due to Covid-19, as my fiancé's side is all from New York. On April 2nd, 2020, everything, including The Union, shut down. Based on the contract, this should have fallen into Force Majeure, for which I should have received all monies paid. However, I because I decided to hold onto the last large lump sum of my remaining balance, I "broke contract" and they will not be giving my any refund. Thank God I didn't pay the remaining balance because they would have kept that too. To be fair, The Union did offer to let us reschedule the wedding date at not cost, but given the current state of the country and travel restrictions, it's not worth the risk of endangering my loved ones. We would have considered rebooking when/if things got better, but the venue does not hold the same feeling it once did.
