I usually go on and on about places I like. But I'll keep this simple because simple is at the heart of this review. Gold Burger is delicious. Full stop. We've tried a few and my favorite is their burger name sake or a custom double smashed patty, American, all of the fixens, and mayo. Get the fries and an iced cold beverage. The service is great though it can get a bit hectic during prime time. When is prime time? When they start putting out the "host will seat you" sign. If it is "please seat yourself" you're gold-en! My only complaint was that we got our pickles on the side but were charged $3 for them even though that's something that's included in the burger price. I heard about this restaurant while tuned into radio station KLBJ.Todd was speaking very positively about the food and service and now, I can also do that. Having moved here from the Northeast, the word diner conjures up a structure that looks like a railroad car with an interior that has a roll of stools at a counter and then booths along the opposite wall. Well, there's no rail car structure but the interior looks exactly like the diner that I was used to. The restaurant is located in Georhetown's beautiful town square, one of the most successful town squares in Texas. Once seated, wer were approached by our delightful Nya M. She got our drink orders and returned quickly with those and glasses of water. Next time, I will pay a little more attention and maybe get a beer or a glass of wine(I failed to notice that drink menu right in front of me). The name of the restaurant includes the word burger so that's what I wanted. They offer either two smashed patties or one thick one. We both chose the two patties. We also opted for an order of fries. Ouf food was served quickly and hot and looking toothsome. Now, I didn't get the burger that I had ordered but I really didn't care because the one I got was that good. We were there in mid afternoon and the place was pretty quiet. First time we visited and it will not be the last. The smash burger patties were perfection as is the regular patty. Burgers are outstanding!!! The French fries are also out of this world! It was an idyllic Christmas scene from a Hallmark movie last night as we enjoyed the ambiance of the diner with the view of Georgetown Square holiday lights out the window. Absolutely love the ambiance of the restaurant as it's been transformed into an old timey diner. The food is always delicious. Comfort food that will just make you feel good! They have a kids menu, it's not on the hard copy menu, but we were verbally told their options. Our server told us his favorite thing in the menu was the Ruben smash burger on rhy. My husband ordered that. It was by far the very very best thing we got !! SOoOo good... We ordered a large fry for the table, they were awesome, perfectly crispy. My fried chicken sandwich had basil aioli. It was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The kids got chocolate milk shakes. They thought that was mind blowing that they had dessert and dinner at the same time... when in Rome... haha. Lastly ordered the apple pie for dessert. It is from a diner on the square. We had big hopes for this place but were sadly let down. Needless to say, we will not be returning here anytime soon. I understand how a busy diner might have some downfalls but this was not an experience I would wish to have again. We put our names on the waitlist and waited twenty minutes. We went nextdoor and got a coffee while we waited. Then we got a notification our table was ready, we went next door and were seated at a filthy table immediately. So I decided to park about a block away and a nice lady in a gray Mercedes convertible coupe, "KIKY ---" alerted me she was leaving. God bless you mam whoever you are. We took a nice walk. over, got seated right away by the hostess at the front door and were thrilled with the menu. Breakfast All day, burgers, sandwiches, dessert. I'm in Texas heaven. Our server, "JR", greeted us he took our order right away. I ordered the Classic, smashed style, onions on the side. My wife got the same, just one big burger with extra pickles. We split an order of fries. The burgers were absolutely delicious. Well seasoned, with a nice grilled taste to it. Veggies were fresh and crunchy. Buns were toasted well on the grill and the "Golden Sauce" was truly the final touch. The restaurant decor is very well done. It's booths on one side of the wall and counter top seating on the other side. Soft drinks, beer and cocktails are also available. Here's one important thing I noticed. The service staff went above and beyond to make everyone had an amazing experience. Customers expressed their enjoyment as they left. How often do you see that at a restaurant? Three areas for around party of 4-6, other seating is for 2-4 people booths. There is some old school decor like the DrPepper glass bottled soda machine that really works. .35¢. We went today to get a burger and fries. The one glow I have is the burger was amazing! The one grow I have for them is that they should tell the customer they use Kaiser rolls. An instant favorite! Gold Burger Diner has been on my list to try since they opened, and we finally got up to Georgetown to try it this past weekend. A couple sandwiches sounded interesting, but I went with my gut, and ordered the Club. I appreciate that the sandwiches are sold a la carte, so they don't rope you into getting fries as well. A sandwich is borderline healthful, but adding fries is where it turns downhill. They accommodated my request to make the sandwich with double cheese instead of bacon. Since it's made with thick slices of Texas Toast, it didn't include a third slice of bread in the middle, which might offend some Club purists, but I thought the ratio of bread to filling was perfect. The bread was toasted perfectly, and the fillings hit just right. We came on a Saturday afternoon, during the market. We were after the lunch rush, but another rush happened when a rainstorm came in. We just beat it, and got our food in a timely manner while we watched the diner fill up. The place is new and clean, but achieves the feel of a classic old diner. My favorite place in town. I'm a sucker for diners and this one sucked me in. It's everything a diner should be and more. Checkered floors, juke box, bar stools that are always occupied. The food is way better than your average diner. The breakfast is good, burgers are fresh and tasty, fries are outstanding! We go a lot and the staff tries their hardest and it shows. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit. My son had a double meat cheese smash burger and I had the liver and onions (OMG !!!). Mrs. Texas wanted breakfast but they stopped serving breakfast about 10 minutes before we showed up and they said they couldn't accommodate. I generally would knock off stars as it was only 10 minutes late, but our server was great and the owner/manager was very friendly. They get packed fast.
