Been here twice now. Once for burgers when they opened and today for breakfast. I do agree with their food prices. However the rest of the town charges $5-$7/per mimosa or Bloody Mary. Gold Diner wants $10 per. I was expecting some large extravagant Bloody Mary and it was served with lemon and watery. My friend ordered a $10 mimosa and it was served in a half full cup. Note to self, this is not a place for a brunch drink. However the service was great. The ambiance is nice and the food is decent portions and quite tasty. read more

I came here for the first time on a Monday night, my husband came first and was NOT greeted, nor attended to. He finally was able to be seated when the waitress approached him. Me and my children and parents then arrived shortly afterwards maybe around 10 mins or so after my. husband arrived and we joined him at a table in the front of the restaurant. My expectations were immediately let down, when I noticed patrons staring in our direction. I felt I could not have a proper conversation with my own father facing him because young ladies at the bar kept turning around staring at us, and talking amongst themselves. They seemed in deep conversation with one of the bartenders or worker behind the bar. The atmosphere was very stifling and upsetting because this is 2025 and I'm a new Georgetown resident, from various states I've resided in and not once have I ever encountered this type of vibe anywhere. I suppose I should comment on the food, I was excited to try the meatloaf meal that was a special for the day, and unfortunately they ran out, so I ordered a burger and with a gluten free bun. I felt like the burger itself was dry for a smash burger. I also felt the food took awhile despite the fact that there weren't many ppl in the restaurant at all. The waitress was phenomenal and because of this she was tipped accordingly. over 30% on the bill. I was not pleased with the way ppl reacted, and from the prior reviews I see that it is encouraged by the staff and environment of the restaurant. We finally got to try Gold Burger diner and it was delicious. My son got the chili dog and I had the Gold burger standard. Their burger was hands down the best burger I've had in Georgetown. We also split the fries (they need to add onion rings to their menu) which honestly weren't the best, but the burger made up for them. Our service was excellent as well. The service has been not stellar.I usually sit in a booth and thought I'll try the bar hoping to get better service. Order taken and shows up quick exactly as ordered. The waitress handling the bar was not that good. Had to ask for coffee refill, then when I got ready to leave, no waitress around. I watched her at the end of bar chat with a customer for 5-6 mins. Then go into the back and come out with an older man and then go to the rear of business. I asked a young man delivering food to customers next to me to check me out. He did and I left. The owner working behind the bar is a racist. Me and my partner who was born and raised in Georgetown and lived here for 6 decades. He shopped at golds when it was department store. When we are initially assigned the booth by the bar, the owner behind the bar was signaling the host to move us to another place right after we sit down. It was quite bizarre and first I thought it was reserved but when we asked why he was stuttering something about the server of that booth is busy. Another couple came in right after us sat in that exact booth and we saw the owner/server was happily serving them with multiple conversations. Had breakfast recently. Wait was only 10 minutes which was great. The ambiance is adorable- like a diner from long ago. They need signage outside tho- nothing that I saw saying who they are. My friend and I shared a large stack of pancakes and each had an egg on the side and I had bacon. The pancakes are delicious, light and fluffy with good flavor. More than I was able to eat. The egg was fine and the bacon was good. Coffee is 'ok'. Seems no one here does a good dark roast. The waiter was accommodating and nice, but it did take about 30 minutes to get the food. That may just be them working out their processes. All in all, it's a nice little place, but with a very small menu. I'm going to go back and give their burgers a try at some point. We revisited the diner 10 days ago and were disappointed in the quality of our meal. This is our second trip for a lunch. Husband had the same item as his first visit, chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. This time the steak was very small, palm size and the potatoes were runny and a small serving as well. This dish doesn't come with additional veggies only mashed potatoes (perhaps you could sub them). The first visit to the restaurant was what brought us back but the second visit was the one that will keep us from going back. It's so important for a restaurant to be consistent with its food quality and quantity. The prices do not reflect the quantity. We will go back to Dahlias for our chicken fried steak that is huge and always the same quality/quantity that comes with two veggies of your choice, jalapeño gravy and a homemade roll for a similar price. Perhaps when the diner gets its Malt/Shake menu we will give it another try. I wish them much luck because it's a really cute retro diner. read more

Only thing was the Soda my wife got was flat. But Chris was quick to switch it out for a new drink that was better. When he came back he admitted their soda was flat and brought a better drink later.
