Like what did they put in there?? Also, the diavolo pasta does have a kick to it, so be aware, but it's DELICIOUS. The only reason for 4 stars is for a bit of a rude service experience we had when trying to get seated. We were a group of 10, seat yourself and put your number down style. No tables had 10 seats but 2 tables right next to each other had 6 and 4. So we began to sit at those. Guy comes up and immediately aggressively "you don't need to do all that sit here (points at table with 8 chairs)". I say well we have 10 so we would need a couple more chairs. He's like "you could have just asked". We were literally just trying to be less of a hassle and I don't understand what's the "all that" we were doing in the context. A long time ago, I dined at their trunk on the East Side. Recently, we had a random weekday off and decided to have a little fun. By the time we drove home, we were hungry and realized we had nothing in the house, so we stopped in for a very late lunch. I try to avoid gluten whenever possible, and since I wasn't in the mood for a salad, they offered to make me a meatball dish, which was perfect. My husband ordered a pizza. The service was friendly, and the food was okay. However, since I don't eat gluten, my taste preferences may differ from others. If you enjoy gluten, this place is likely a good fit for you. It's worth noting that parking can be a bit tricky on busy nights. The restaurant has a huge patio and backyard space, and I'm glad to see it thriving in this location after many years of turnover. I had a wonderful serendipity moment at the Bee Caves Farmers Market yesterday. I bought a loaf of Italian bread at Casa Speranza Bakery stand, and Mary, the Italian owner, recommended Patrizi's at 1705 Cuernavaca Drive for the most authentic homemade pasta in Austin. Off we went for dinner, and wow! The pasta and sauces were absolutely fantastic. We had the cacio e pepe and lemon thyme sauces as well as some of the best garlic bread I've had. For dessert, we had the seasonal cheesecake with fruit compote, and it truly was phenomenal, delicious, and exceptional (superlatives intended)! BTW, all the pasta is made with semolina flour that's imported from Italy, so it doesn't create any gluten effects or heaviness that American pasta does. Patrizi's is order-at-the-counter style, then you can sit outside among the trees and relax. Everything was perfect for us - and the service was excellent. Do expect this to be slower as everything is made to order. Our initial server, Baker, was so nice and explained everything to us. Such a gem of an Italian spot! The downtown location is my favorite, but the newer Westlake location is great if you want to sit indoors with AC instead of outside. The bruschetta and all of their pastas are a must-try. I honestly love every pasta I've had here, but I always end up leaning toward the carbonara and I always add an egg! I'm actually not sure if Patrizi's got better since I visited years ago from my college days, but I remember always not loving Patrizi's despite how much of a cult favorite and Austin classic they are. I also LOVE Italian food, so it made me sad that I didn't crave Patrizi's as often as I should've. However, my friend who's never visited Texas came to visit recently and of course, I had to show him Patrizi's. We went to their further location where they offer pizza, and we got two pastas and one pizza and everything was so delicious. I actually could see myself ordering from here for takeout orders, and I wish they were closer because you can never go wrong with handmade pasta noodles. I had heard so many great things about patrizi's from the atx locals and it's safe to say, I was definitely not disappointed! When we entered, we were welcomed by the inviting staff and walked us through their ordering process and menu. This surely made the process feel less intimidating and I really enjoy that they do a lot for to ensure customer satisfaction. My friend and I had ordered the garlic bread and pesto pasta as well as a PotDaddy Punch (received a complimentary coupon at pot daddy's right before!). This was definitely one of those meals that tastes as good as if looks. The leopald (basil & arugula pesto pasta) was delicious and the flavors between the spice and zest were worth noting. The garlic bread served shortly after and I really loved the flavors, all that was missing for me was some melted mozzarella on it. After devouring that delicious meal, we decided that no Italian meal is complete without tiramisu. The cake was extremely moist and airy which I really enjoyed. It also tasted very rich and espresso-y! The inside was decorated very nicely and they even had a window that you could see the fresh pasta made in house! Super cool dining experience! I went to Patrizi's last night, a hidden gem with pasta, salads, amazing starters, and all with some live music. We started out with the bruschetta. Every single bite was bursting with flavor, and the crunchy yet soft bread was the perfect pairing. We got two salads: one with tomatoes, arugula, and farm cheese; the other with mixed greens and garlic confit. The two pastas we ordered were incredible. One was a mix of two pestos (one with lemon and the other with dry roasted tomato), and the other was entirely roasted tomato. We also got a meatball that was incredibly juicy and well-seasoned, covered in red sauce. When you arrive at Patrizi's, you get in line at the pasta bar, where after ordering, you receive a number to put on your table. We got lucky and had a couple of musicians setting up right when we arrived, so we enjoyed live music throughout dinner. Oh my goodness. I'm still dreaming about their garlic bread. If you are looking for incredible and reasonably priced Italian, this is the place. Everything is made in house. From the bread, to the pasta, to the cheese and when I say it's incredible, I truly mean it. We ordered a few different appetizers to share and different pastas and every single thing was so good. The serving sizes are very generous and we had leftovers and it tasted just as good the following day. The servers were knowledgeable and answered our questions and were so excited to welcome us to their restaurant as first timers. We ate outside on their back patio and it had lots of shade and different areas for seating. They had a dj there who was playing vinyl records and the vibes were so nice. It was like swing mixed with different vintage styles and we loved it. I missed their name, but they were even dressed like a vintage sailor and it was iconic. We had a woman in business luncheon at this place while ago, and I got the rainbow salad they have one sandwich option, I think one pizza option, and salad for vegans not a big selection though I would love if they had one pasta option as well. I've seen A LOT of videos about Patrizis...and I wish I would've scrolled from them. Let me walk you through my experience. We get there. Greeted by amazing servers who help us get through the menu and even gave recommendations for us. The service was superb, I can at least say that, and they were very attentive and helpful. We started off with the toasted focaccia. And toasted it was not. Barely warm, and with COLD garlic confit placed on top. It had sooo much potential, because the bread was actually pretty okay but the garlic confit was not spreadable and just off putting. For the pastas, we got the carbonara... which tasted like they added the seasoning packet of top ramen to it. It was strange how close it tasted to top ramen seasoning. Now, the pasta was definitely fresh and decent but the accompanying seasonings and tastes just ruined it. We also had the Leopold... Which was honestly the best pasta of the night. Which doesn't count for much tbh. The only problem that I had with this was the pesto sauce was so salty! Also lasagna... Which I will not speak of, because it had beef in it and I do not eat that, but just looking at it...looked like it had better days. Lastly, we had the arborio pomo.... All I can say was eh. Definitely funky tasting. They say on the menu that it has farm fresh cheese, and it tasted just a bit funky...best way to put it. Now do i recommend this place to others... No. For the price? I've been hearing a lot of good things about Patrizi's and when they opened their second location, I had to see what the hype was about. I ordered a few different dishes, however the overall experience did fall flat for me. The carbonara was underwhelming. The bacon bits weren't crispy, but they were plentiful. The egg yolk added that signature creaminess, but outside of the saltiness of the bacon, there wasn't much flavor. The leopold lacked depth of flavor and texture. It felt very one-sided and could've used some toasted pine nuts for a crunch in my opinion. The pasta was almost cooked al dente, but still had some tough, uncooked spots where it could've used a few more minutes of boiling. The lemon thyme immediately punches you in the face with a strong tart flavor that then mellows out with the parmesan. Arguably the best out of the 3 pastas, but also had the most, albeit strong, flavor. The bruschetta was a good bite. The dish came with 2 generous pieces of crispy bread and the tomato and arugula topping added a beautiful freshness. We came on a pretty busy Friday night, but the food came out quickly. You order from the counter and they deliver the food to your table. There's plenty of seating and a separate bar you can order drinks from. Our first time here, we love it! We will definitely be back when we're in the area. We got the rainbow salad which was, in my husbands words, "the best tasting salad he's ever had." It was so fresh and has an awesome variety of ingredients in it. We also got the margarita pizza which was made to perfection on the most delicious fluffy bread. Everything we ordered here was absolutely delicious, and we didn't even try the pasta they're known for! The menu has changed since my last visit--they no longer offer the focaccias. We had the margherita pizza, which was packed with flavor, and couldn't resist trying the Marfa tomatoes, which were also fantastic. I would suggest ordering a different pizza flavor if you get the Marfa tomatoes since both dishes have similar ingredients, but either way, it's all still delicious. The mocktails are incredible--so fresh, clean, and not processed at all. Honestly, I'd come back just for those! But let's be real--I'd come back for the food and dessert too. We had the carrot cake and the pepita soft serve for dessert, and both tasted so fresh. The olive oil and pepita in the soft serve were indescribable and a MUST! The service was exceptional. We ended up chatting with almost every staff member, and the whole experience reminded me of the small-town charm Austin had over a decade ago. I will definitely be back! This was a very bizarre and frustrating dining experience. We ordered the red sauce (was okay), pomodoro (not bad), carbonara (terrible, far too salty with comically huge undercooked bacon chunks) and garlic bread. Oh the garlic bread...what is this mess? Let's start a new paragraph. It's barely toasted on top but otherwise soft as can be. I can hardly see the bread for the piles of loose cheese that tastes like a bland parmigiano reggiano. And why are there green onions all over it? In fact, why are there piles of green onions all over everything?? Not one mention in the menu anywhere about green onions, yet there they are piled high as if they just got a great deal on a truckload of them. They are clearly proud of the garlic bread seeing as it was served like an appetizer 15 minutes before our pasta arrived. But it would have been nice if, instead of labeling this simply as "garlic bread" on the menu, they would call it something like "Patrizi's famous wacky garlic bread." Patrizi's only serves fettecinni, which is odd in and of itself. And it's not bad! But it's not great! And they do not offer fettecinni alfredo because of course they don't (the one sauce that might actually work with the green onions). Some odds and ends about Patrizi's that I did not enjoy: -Eating pasta off of metal trays like I'm in prison. -Drinking wine out of some sort of tiny mason jar with grooves all around (unpleasant and needlessly hipster nonsense). -Condiments that you apparently must use your hands to use--want some salt? No problem, just grab a salt rock out of a community jar with your grubby hand and start grating. -Ordering food here, ordering drinks over there, and then standing in line to pay at the end, just such a needlessly fractured process. This is not a nice Itallian restaurant. This is not really even an Itallian restaurant. It's a kitchy counter-service Italian fusion cafe that is absolutely not worth the drive. read more

We're huge fans of the food truck Patrizis, when we heard about the new brick and mortar location we had to come try, even if it was a bit of a drive! The parking directly in front of the restaurant gets taken up quickly, but there's additional parking right next to the restaurant, my only complaint is I wish there was a ramp for strollers from the parking lot below. Getting on the highway with a baby stroller is not ideal. There is this weird crooked path with a bit of pavement but i don't think that's really an access path for strollers/wheelchairs. Now the FOOD! The meat here is 10000% better than the food truck. The pancetta is perfect and I will be dreaming about it until we go again. My husband said the chicken is also better. Garlic bread was good as always, and their tiramisu was super yummy. We had a really great time because everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Decided to try this Patrizi's location and we were not disappointed. There was no line and service was super quick. There is also a bar where you can order drinks. The pasta is just as good and there are also more menu items. I got the duck and sausage ragu and it was so delicious. The duck isn't overwhelming and is mixed into the sauce. The pasta is always al dente. I also got the garlic bread which came out warm and delicious. I also tried some of my friends' pastas. The diavolo isn't really my speed a little too lemony for my taste. The carbonara wasn't too heavy and had lots of bacon bits in it. Such yummy Italian food! I got the Lemon Thyme and it was delicious! Exactly what I expected. They use the same pasta for all the dishes so you don't have to factor in different pasta shapes. I could tell that the pasta was homemade. The garlic bread was incredible. I have no idea what the secret is but the flavor was so rich. It comes with 2 large pieces so great for sharing. There's a separate bar in the restaurant with a whole separate drink menu, so if you order food first they will start a tab for you. Another cool thing is that you can order a half portion of the pasta instead of the full, if you're not too hungry. For a normal portion, go with the full. I enjoyed the vibe inside - it matched well with the food. There are a good amount of indoor tables, including half booths, and outdoor ones. After a few visits, I can confidently say their Cacio e Pepe is my favorite. Freshly handmade fettuccine pasta with in an elegant balance of grana and cracked black pepper - it's like grown-up Mac 'n cheese, just as comforting, far more delightful. Because I'm halfway to Rome, of course we're having double-carbs, and the Garlic Bread with more grana and garlic confit is addictive. I've heard so much high praise about Patrizis and I couldn't wait to try it. And I'm glad to say it lived up to the hype! The pasta is deliciously al dente and the perfect texture. And the sauces and toppings all feel pretty fresh. As for the flavors, I definitely had some favorites. I think the pomodoro is my personal favorite, and that's coming from someone who usually leans away from ordering red sauce. The carbonara is decent, but nothing too unique flavorwise. However, their carbonara has huge chunks of meat which I'm never gonna complain about. The lemon thyme was really good but sooo lemony. I was a fan but it was a bit too much for my friend so beware before you order. The Leopold was just alright for me. I had expected a creamier sauce and it was a little too peppery for me. But still good, I finished it all! And I really love that you can order by half sizes and the prices are still consistent, that way you can try two flavors for actually the price of one instead of the prices being jacked so that it's not worth it. read more

We waited on a longggg line, so we knew it had to be good. There's lots of outdoor seating. You place your order and grab a seat with a number. We opted for the pomodoro, carbonara, and patrizi's salad. The 2 pasta dishes were not quite as creamy as I like, but they were as fresh as can be. The salad was simple but tasted great. read more
