Publicly humiliated and accused. My family and friends have been loyal customers of Patrizi's and a regular at their Wednesday "Geeks Who Drink" trivia nights for quite some time, but the way we have been treated lately has been deeply disappointing. Over the past several months, we've been repeatedly accused without evidence of cheating and of not tipping. This is simply not true, and each time it has made for an uncomfortable, awkward experience. Most recently, the situation crossed a line. My best friend was singled out and publicly accused of cheating in front of the entire room. Not only was this humiliating, but we were also disqualified from the game, something that has happened more than once, again without justification. Trivia nights are supposed to be a fun, welcoming way to enjoy an evening, but this ongoing hostility has completely soured the experience for us. We've always come to Patrizi's to support a neighborhood business, spend money, and have fun with our community. Being treated with suspicion and disrespect instead of hospitality is hurtful and unacceptable. On top of that, a friend who worked there sent me these screen shots of texts messages between the owner, Nick Patrizi, and her accusing us of cheating and stiffing. As well as a screen shot of the employee group chat, of over 45 members, where Eric J. is describing us as "the cheaters" and again not tipping, which is false. It's humiliating and degrading knowing that every time we walk into this establishment we have a name on our backs by which every single employer recognizes us. Adding to the frustration, the owner, Nick Patrizi, along with Eric J. and other staff members, regularly play in the trivia nights themselves. Week after week, they end up in first place and walk away with the $50 gift card. Good for them, really; however, when those who run or are directly connected to the establishment repeatedly win the prizes, it creates the impression that regular guests don't stand a fair chance. I hope management takes a serious look at how these events are being run, because no paying guest should be embarrassed or treated unfairly in a public setting. read more

I LOVE Italian food and appreciated their twist on classic dishes such as Cacio E Pepe and Carbonara. We also ordered the garlic bread and it was so fresh with ample amount of freshly grated cheese. Our first time at Patrizzis, and we will definitely return. Let's start with the main show, the pasta! Cooked perfectly al dente. This place uses few ingredients in their dishes and they are high quality, proving you don't need truffle oil, a pound of cheese, or heavy cream to make a dish spectacularly tasty. We ordered diavolo (it's legit insanely spicey), carbonara, and a pasta with red sauce. All very, very good. Aside from the spiciness, the diavolo has a lemony flavor that is so good and would likely pair well with chicken. The red sauce was very good, and the carbonara was not suffering for pork. We also had their side salad and it was terrific. Lots of variety in the mix that was flavorful. The ambience is casual, and thank God for that because we just came from spending two hours in the lake! ;) It's not inexpensive. Our three dishes and the salads were $77. That was pre-tip and drinks. Overall, we'd still return despite the prices. After all, this is lake country, so it's going to be bougie. My husband insists I add this is not a brotalian pasta joint. We were in the area and was looking for a quick bite somewhere, and stumbled upon Patrizi's. We ordered two items from the menu to share and absolutely loved them! Chicken Parm Sandwich - Generous amount of chicken that was prepared and seasoned perfectly; focaccia bread was toasted. It was flavorful and with the perfect amount of melted cheese too. Pomodoro Pasta - Housemade pasta, prepared perfectly al dente and the tomato sauce was so tasty. So I never actually ate in this restaurant directly, but my program got it catered for an event nearby. I can't comment on the service or ambiance because of that but the quality of the food was quite good - I really did enjoy the pasta that I had. It did have chicken, but it would've been still just as hearty with only the sauce itself and I could tell there was a lot of butter in it so definitely was pretty filling, even just after eating half of the container of it. Since it was catered, I don't know if there were other options for vegetables (I imagine probably) but I wish we had had some veggies because it was a lot of carbs by itself. If I wanted Italian food again and a Patrizi's was nearby I would absolutely eat there again! But given the nearest one is a bit far from me, I don't think I would seek it out otherwise. read more

I am updating this review as I revisited this awesome place almost a year ago. We sat down on the grassy area this time as my friend has a toddler so they can't sit still very long. :) My friend went in to get a drink with her baby on her hip and came back with the owner carrying her drink for her!! Now that's service!! She talked to him about how much she loves the original spot on Manor. The bottom grassy area is lovely. They built a stage way at the end since the last time I was there and added a lot more picnic tables. Maybe they have music? I'll have to check the website. Hold please. We were so excited to eat here for months. The service was fantastic at first. The atmosphere is great and the garlic bread was fantastic. The pasta came out lukewarm but was good. My problem with Patrizi's is that they allow dogs in their restaurant, and the dogs there today jumped up on the counter twice. We asked the manager if dogs were allowed and he said that's how they've done it for years. I cited the following health code which the manager disregarded after being shown it in print, and scoffed at the potential health implications. It's gross, against the law, discriminatory to people with allergies, fear of dogs, the immunocompromised, and those with standards.....and the manager was belligerent about it. Another manager did hear us out and comp us. But they said "they would keep on rolling. They've been doing it like this for years. Under Texas Health and Safety Code § 437.025, restaurants may allow dogs in outdoor dining areas if they meet specific conditions: 1. A sign must be posted stating that dogs are permitted. 2. Dogs must access the area directly from the outside; they cannot pass through the restaurant's interior. 3. Dogs are prohibited from entering the interior of the establishment. 4. Dogs must be leashed and under the customer's control at all times. 5. Dogs are not allowed on seats, tables, countertops, or similar surfaces. 6. No food preparation is allowed in the outdoor area, and only food being served to customers may be present. read more

3 stars for the food but +1 star for ambiance and service. If you're looking for authentic Italian food, Patrizi's is not it. The pastas aren't bad, but they're twists on the classics, so it won't scratch the "just like Italy" itch. Also, they tend to go overboard on the lemon juice/zest and herbs that can make the pastas incredibly tart/sour, so beware. This was our first time visiting the brick and mortar, but we had been to the food truck during COVID. 1. The cacio e pepe was really salty and not very creamy at all. There actually isn't much sauce like you'd expect. 2. The carbonara Alexandra is probably the least favorite. It doesn't taste like carbonara at all, and again, it's not very creamy. We asked them to leave off the gremolata bc when we had this several years ago at the food truck, the dish was SO sour. Keep it on at your own risk. 3. The seared risotto with mushroom tasted decent, but they should probably rename it. Risottos are meant to be creamy and rich; this is more of a large, flat arancini with the crumbly rice texture. The mushrooms were delicious though. 4. The red sauce was the favorite pasta for both my husband and me -- probably bc the chefs didn't try to fancy-fy the dish and just stuck to the basics. The tomato sauce nicely balanced the acidity and sweetness, and the dish felt complete. 5. The Leopold was decent. We asked them to leave off the lemon zest (since there's already lemon juice in the sauce), so the sauce was pretty balanced. When we had it at the food truck years ago, the pile of lemon zest made the dish too sour to finish. Overall, all the food was ok with only the red sauce pasta being the standout in terms of flavors. What was really disappointing was how quickly the food got cold. I don't know if it's bc the pastas weren't piping hot when the food came out or if it's due to the metal plates (or both), but after a few bites, most of the dishes were already cold. My husband and I are both fast eaters; we finished all 5 entrees within 20 minutes but the food was cold for most of the meal. The grated cheese never completely melted for any of the pastas. So by the second half of the meal, the pastas were all harder/tougher than the nice al-dente texture you'd expect. Based on the food, we won't ever come back. That said, the staff were all very nice and they seem to have a good bar. The bartender gave us a sample of two mocktails since it was our first visit and they were quite good. I'd come back for the drinks and ambiance if friends ever wanted to come, but if it's just us, it's a pass. Shame bc Austin sure could use some legit Italian food! read more

I'm allergic to tequila and she claimed it wasn't made to be with vodka and tough luck basically. Shocked they allow this at such a nice family establishment. Come at night if you try this place out. Most people heard about the pasta, which is only served at night. I unfortunately came during the day, so I could only order salads and sandwiches. The salad and sandwich were okay. Not really worth the price for the amount I got. I didn't walk out feeling full. At least the service was good and the interior was beautiful. They even had a patio that would've been lovely to sit outside at if the weather was more pleasant the day I went. Parking is tight. Try coming when it's not lunch rush or dinner rush because it would be a nightmare if you were trying to park while another car was trying to leave their parking space. Or visa versa. read more

Great quality casual Italian food with ingredients imported from Italy. We went on a Saturday and enjoyed live music on the patio. It's like a gem of restaurant located off the beaten track where locals hangout. Staff were friendly. When we went they were donating proceeds from a select drink to help a server who needed support with medical expenses. The heartwarming gesture speaks to the culture of the restaurant. The lasagna was amazing. The tomato basil appetizer stood out with its fresh local tomatoes and herbs plus imported cheese. read more

Patrizi's isn't just one of the best Italian places in Austin, it's one of the best I've ever been to. This place is amazing. Before even talking about the food, I have to talk about the restaurant itself. The inside is nice and homey and the outside is a great patio under the trees and they even have live music most weeks. It was a little cold this night but they had heaters to make it really pleasant so we sat outside despite the weather. Their cocktails are special--they have homemade limoncello and liqueurs and syrups that make every drink feel like a step up from other places. But of course the real winner is the food. The pasta and bread are handmade and just so good that I'm getting hungry writing this, which is always a good sign. We ordered the $55 2-person feast that includes a bit of everything. It included a salad with a vinaigrette that was so good that we finished it despite everything else on our plates. The beet salad made me like beets! The garlic bread was so good that we didn't have time to even contemplate how good it was before it was gone (and it was covered in roasted garlic and Parmesan). The meatball was fun to take bites of between our three pastas. And we spent the whole meal trying to decide which pasta was our favorite, because the pesto, red sauce, and cheese and oil "sauce" were all so good that we couldn't possibly decide. I was so disappointed when this location didn't become a Mexican food restaurant. Then I found out it was going to be Italian, which is very low on my list of likes. Patrizi's has made me love their food. It's so ridiculously good. The house made pasta is off the chart. I've had plenty of pasta and surely some of it had to be house made. None of it was even close to how good Patrizi's pasta is. You know what's as good as the pasta? Their focaccia. You need a quiet secret place to eat it mercilessly without others judging you. It demands no less. But wait - there's more - they pretty much use the focaccia to make their pizza. Holy smokes. There are a few salad choices and somehow they make those sparkle too. The house made giardiniera is delicious. While the meatball is what everyone raves about (it's worth it), we like the chicken arrosto. Add that to any pasta order and it perfects it. The location is a little challenging to park at. It's extremely popular so parking gets full most evenings. The building and grounds are pleasant and there's a lot of room indoors and out. Live music and trivia on designated nights. The bar is well stocked and I love their negroni. Take out has been easy especially now that the online portal is running. The only thing that could make this place better is if they applied themselves to some enchiladas. Meantime, what they do is spectacular. Take my money and feed me focaccia! read more

This was my first time going to Patrizi's and I'm really glad they opened a brick and mortar with extended hours! The restaurant is quite big and there's lots of indoor and outdoor seating. They had a DJ playing music outside and it was beautifully set up with lights all around the patio. We ordered the cacio e pepe, carbonara, diavolo, and leopold. They were all delicious, but my favorites were the cacio e pepe and carbonara! Both were creamy and had lots of flavor. The diavolo was tart and spicy which was quite good as well, and the leopold was bright from the pesto. Everything was delicious and I had a great time! West Austin has more to brag about besides it's rolling hills and breathtaking lookouts. We came here on a weekday for an early lunch, and it was one of the best meals we've had in awhile. Everything is made in house and you can really taste it! We were lucky to be able to catch the end of breakfast to try their Italian hot pockets and foccacia bread. The sweet hot pocket is filled with Nutella, pepita, and pecans. It was like tasting an inverted Ferrero Rocher, but replace the crunchy part with homemade dough and powdered sugar. Yummy! The bacon hot pocket is a nice choice for a savory snack or light breakfast. The most surprising favorite was the mushroom foccacia bread. The foccacia is about the surface area of a slice of bread you get in most loaves you get at the store, but in thickness and flavor, it's superior. The bread is covered from end to end with delicious mushrooms- I think there's more than one type of mushroom on it. There are some greens and fresh cheese on top. It was amazing! If you come here for lunch, you'll find a different menu with a choice of salads and sandwiches. We opted for the chicken parm sandwich and it was a great decision! It comes with their homemade foccacia, juicy fried chicken, and the most amazing marinara sauce. I can drink the sauce- it's so good! There's a mixture of yellow cheese in the sauce and some fresh parmesean flakes generously garnished on the sauce. Tip: Save any left over bread to dab on any sauce that falls out of the sandwich! My only gripe is that pasta dishes are only offered during dinner, so we weren't able to try it this time. The food truck location is great, but in several ways this brick and mortar is better. Its a perfect date spot or place to take friends or family. There is plenty of outdoor seating, and no line! read more

I've been to Patrizi's at the vortex and have had great food. I heard about the store front (with some different menu items) I decided to stop by. Parking is kind of tight so heads up. You walk in and it is counter service. The staff is very kind and explained everything. The food I had was okay, it wasn't amazing. The flavor of the bolognese was there but the pasta came out borderline warm/cold. The seared risotto (which was excited for) was cold. Also the pesto sauce it came with was aggressively spicy (no where on the menu did it say that it was spicy, so heads up). My tongue was numb. This place has been on my list for a while as a newbie in Austin and we decided to check out the West location instead of East. I was extremely impressed. We waited about 10-15 minutes in line but wasn't bad and then took another 20 or so for the food to come out. I haven't had amazing Italian food yet in Austin, but this was authentic and fresh. The garlic bread was so moist yet crispy at the same time. Red beet salad was pretty good. We got four pastas to split between four people, and it was the perfect amount. Each one had its own unique flavor I'm not even sure which was my favorite or if I could pick. Maybe the lemon with chicken which we added or the pesto. Unfortunately they were out of the carbonara around 7 PM on a Sunday which I was most looking forward to, so I'll have to go back for it. Patrizi's pasta is such a staple here in Austin. The price for a meal here is very reasonable. The food is consistent at both of their locations. All of their homemade, hand pulled pasta is delicious and perfectly cooked al dente. My favorites are the carbonara and Pomodoro! Definitely treat yourself to some garlic bread loaded with garlic confit. My friends and I like participating in trivia with Geeks Who Drink, and this particular location has been one of our favorites because of the food. Patrizi's new brick and mortar is definitely a lengthy drive for me, but great Italian establishments is fairly uncommon in the area, so it was worth making the trip. The scenic drive made it all better and getting there long before the dinner rush made parking a breeze. They have a small parking lot in front, but another gravel lot on the side with a good amount of spaces. You walk in, order at the counter, grab a number, and find yourself a seat. There's free wifi, and plenty of seats inside and outside. The outdoor ambiance is pretty nice, so definitely a consideration once the weather is less sweltering. We ordered the Cheesy Foccacia, Cacio e Pepe, and the Leopold. The foccacia was good, but if you're imagining squares of foccacia that you dip in olive oil, think again. Their foccacia is crispy and topped with tomato sauce and cheese. Both versions are tasty, but always good to keep expectations aligned. Both pasta dishes were excellent. The Cacio e Pepe was delicious and nicely peppery. It was not saucy, but the noodles were coated with plenty of cheesy flavor and cooked very well. I love Patrizi's! I was a regular customer of the food truck back during 2020-2021 when I was still living in Austin. My favorite dish is the Great Leopold, just love the fresh taste of the sauce on the pasta. I also highly recommend the garlic bread; the confit garlic just melts in your mouth and is so delicious! This most recent visit I went to their new location on the west side and it was a great experience. The outdoor dining area was very fun and easy to enjoy a meal with family and friends. They had outdoor heaters and a live DJ which was great, Drinks were served at the bar inside, and there's a water & utensils station outside for ease of use. This was the first time we tried dessert, and we had the ice cream with olive oil. Sounds weird at first, but it was so good. The oil added a nice texture to the ice cream and honestly went very well with it. read more
