Yamas is a relatively new addition to Austin's Mediterranean dining scene and I recently visited for a special occasion. Overall, I had a good experience but I can't say I was completely blown away. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with bright white aesthetics that give off a Greek island vibe. I also loved the mural on the exterior wall and the flower arch at the entrance, which makes for a great first impression. Parking however, was a bit tricky. My Uber driver had some difficulty getting close to the entrance because of the layout and traffic flow around the restaurant. As for the food I decided to order the lamb since that's usually a standout dish at a Greek restaurant. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work for me. I'm not sure if it was the gaminess of the lamb or maybe the cocktail I had beforehand, but I started feeling queasy midway through dinner and had to step away for a bit. Luckily I recovered, but I wasn't able to finish the dish and mostly stuck to the fries and side salad afterward. My partner also mentioned that his beef dish was slightly overcooked. Service was a little inconsistent as well. It was a busy night, so I understand things can get hectic, but our waiter wasn't very attentive and rarely checked in on us throughout the meal. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish or came on an off night, but at this price point I've honestly had better experiences at a few other Mediterranean restaurants in Austin. I'm glad I tried it though I'm not sure I'd rush back.

Yamas Greek Kitchen + Bar transports you to Greece at first glance. The Greece persona is alive and well. Very similar to Santorini, Greece the building is all white with bright pink flowers at the entry way, on the side of the building and the outside gazebo. There is a striking mural on the building façade as well as a captivating mural at the entry way. Inside interior has a tropical, don't worry be happy vibe. The restaurant is open and airy. Yesterday, I took a good, long-term friend (25+ years) out to lunch for her birthday. We started with the Mezze Pikilia Traditional sampler platter -Tzatziki, Spicy Feta, Hummus, Eggplant Salad (not a fan, but loved this one!), served with Grilled Pita. My friend had lamb chops and I had the salmon entree. The lamb chops, while cooked just a little too long, had explosive flavor. My salmon swimming in an olive mixture was perfect...enough said! We could not finish our appetizer or all of our entrees...very generous portions. Needless to say, the food was exceptional! Then they brought my friend a birthday cake with a sparkler... nice touch. The cake was next level good. Xen was a great server checking on us rather frequently to ensure our needs were being met. The restaurant manager also came over to check on us. This restaurant's food is authentically Greek...highly recommend it.

Great ambiance, great service, great food. As other reviews have said, it gets loud in here! But the food and decor are beautiful and make it worth it. Transports you out of Texas for a couple hours.

First visit to Yama's yesterday in a beautiful Spring Sunday. We sat inside cuz it gets hot so quickly. Service was slow. We didn't have anyone visit our table for 15+ minutes after were were seated, and we had a paid reservation. We finally got water and placed an order for drinks and food right then. Drinks took almost 30 minutes to get. The food was prompt, beautiful, delicious and well plated. We enjoyed our meal. I'd come a different day of the week next time They had a small brunch menu and a more substantial regular menu- both available at noon on a Sunday.

Very, very cool, they nailed it with the design. Plenty of parking too. The food was good, honestly the Yamas chips were my favorite thing. I didn't get an entrée bc we always just order several things and pass it around. Upon walking in it gets progressively louder. I think this is the loudest place I've been in years. They do birthdays where the staff bring out a little flaming candle and sing and it was a lot. There must have been 6 birthdays last night. Of course people should celebrate that's not what I'm suggesting, but it was a lot. If you've been to Cala, it's like that. In my view, it is such a beautiful place the noise detracted from that. It's beyond a fun upbeat vibe inside, it's deafening. So go for the cute pics, but not if you want to actually talk with your friends and catch up.

I came here recently for a quick lunch. Luckily they weren't busy so I was able to grab a spot for a quick bite. I love that they have a fixe menu option for lunch. I got the salad either salmon entree. I did also get a side of hummus and pita bread. The hummus was creamy and savory. I added a touch of lemon to add some tang to it. It had roasted garlic so it had a great aroma to it and it paired well with the garlic pita bread. The salad had a light vinaigrette dressing tossed with avocado, feta, grapes, and dill. It was actually light and refreshing! The salmon was grilled to perfection and it paired well with the asparagus and green beans. Not sure what sauce it was but it was really good with a slight creaminess to it. The course ended with greek yogurt with honey and fruits. Overall the meal with very good! The service was fast and friendly. The space was also really cute for some photo ops outside.

The atmosphere was great for a Friday night. After 9:00pm it seemed it turned into a club atmosphere. The music was lit! Food was good but not my favorite.

Ambiance was great but the server we got was extremely slow and it took a very long time to order and get the and get it a to go box. I would rate it as 3 stars. I might come again but again the service was slow - but the food was amazing. I ordered the kotosoupa it was delicious! - R

Love the vibe! Pretty good drink options, and the servers were very attentive. The food was also quite impressive too. Laxano Dolmades was okay but the Eggplant Salad with Grilled Pita was so good!! I'd definitely go back to try out more dishes!

This little slice of the Greek Islands in Austin is amazing! From beginning to end, a wonderful experience. Came here for Galentine Dinner on Valentine's Day. Had made reservations weeks prior. Glad we did because there would have been no way we could have gotten a table that night if we had just shown up. This place was packed but in a good way! Love the decor and the energy. The hostess was very welcoming. They sat us outside in the covered patio and was by the DJ. Had a very Bravo Housewives Moment! Our server was very informative. Had great suggestions. We ended up ordering the Fried Feta, The Plate with the Four Dips, Grilled Octopus for our starters. There was five of us... The Fried Feta was by far my favourite. Crispy on the outside and soft, hot and melting in the inside... The sauce was the perfect accent to the cheese. Our Entrees included the Seaford Pasta... Delicious, The Short Ribs... Comfort on a plate and The Lamb Chops... Perfectly cooked. Management came by and seemed genuinely interested in how we were doing. From somewhere, there was a round of shots that were complementary... Another Bravo Housewives moment Overall and in a nutshell... Amazing experience, beautiful restaurant and great hospitality. Suggest for a girl's night out, a sexy date or any sort of celebration. Looking forward for another amazing experience!

This place is delicious! Been here multiple times now and I love it everytime! I love the decor and ambiance. The service is always great. And most importantly the food is always delicious. Although on the pricier side, the portions are generous so it's a perfect place to come and share multiple dishes with the table. A few of our favorites are always the Yamas chips to start, the branzino which is perfectly cooked and the lamb chops and pastitsio. Either way, you can't go wrong! Oh and parking is easy in the church lot right next to it!

A Magical Escape to Greece in the Heart of Austin From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with huge smiles, genuine eye contact, and immediate attention. We didn't have a reservation, but we were still seated in the most beautiful spot in their garden, and this photo says it all. The vibrant bougainvillea, the Santorini-blue accents, the sun-washed whites, the breezy cushions... it truly feels like you've stepped off a plane and onto a Greek island. As soon as you arrive at Yemma's, you get the feeling you've left Texas completely. The décor is stunning in a way that makes you pause for a second and think, "Wait... am I still in Austin?" It's intimate, airy, and straight-up Mediterranean magic. Our waitress was professional, courteous, attentive, and intuitive. She quickly realized we were first-timers and gave us fantastic recommendations for both food and drinks. We ordered the spanakopita (spinach pie) and the steamed mussels, along with a spritz cocktail and a glass of white wine. Was it cheap? No, but this is Austin, and this is voted Austin's best Greek restaurant for a reason. Everything was beautifully prepared, packed with flavor, and truly memorable. I absolutely can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. So the next time you're craving a little day trip to Greece, without ordering a plane ticket, go to Yemma's. It's worth every moment.

Y'all, We had a time! This was a party of 10, birthday brunch, Sunday at noon. I didn't even know this place was here and just down the road from Chez Zee (one of my faves). When I first arrived I pulled up into the parking area and I noticed a sign that said there was additional parking across the street and next door at the church. Of course there was no parking in the main lot so I just went across the street and there was plenty of parking. When you walk in it is like walking into lil Greek Restaurant in Santorini, there's so much beautiful white and brilliant blue, The bar is even a vibe, there's a beautiful patio with plenty of seating connected to the restaurant as well as across the entry in the parking lot. Plenty of seating. There was a DJ out on the patio, tucked away. I had no idea he was there until someone pointed it out. But the music was a whole vibe. We started our dining experience with drinks, there is a full bar so I ordered an Aperol spritz. We also ordered the Pikilia Traditional as an appetizer for the table. That was such a good decision. The spicy feta, hummus and eggplant salad were a hit. I will definitely order that again. I ordered the Moussaka, I was intrigued by the ingredients and I was well rewarded with the flavor. My goodness, That was delicious and such a great choice. It was so nice of the owner, Roxy, to bring housemaid shots to the table, celebrating the birthday girl. Roxy was the sweetest, I noticed she came in and hugged people at the bar people behind the bar and was just social and very engaging. When we were all done eating the crew came out with sparklers and desserts for the birthday girl, The DJ played "Happy birthday to ya"! It was so fun!!! There were so many events happening in the restaurant, birthdays and baby showers, So there was a lot of sparkling and singing. When we are leaving the owner hugged each of us and thanked us for coming in, That was a special added touch. Anywho, We had such a great experience from the attentive and friendly service, to the delicious food and drinks, to the DJ playing all the greatest hits of '90s & 2000s, to the kindness offered by the owner. I will definitely be back time and time again and cannot wait to try so many more things on the menu!!! Cheers!

However, I'll think about coming here again because I didn't feel a good vibe with the service. We had to go look for someone to show us the table even though the place was empty for early lunch. Then, to get drinks or even the order was a problem. It took so much longer than usual. Our waitress was rude, and seemed bothered that we showed up. Then someone else came as the waitress and she was preoccupied with other tables and barely checked on us. A regular lunch which would've been one hour became almost two because of the lack of service. My friend had to stand and look for someone to give us a box to take out the good we couldn't eat because it was getting late and also to get the check because No one came in to check on us at all. It was almost like pulling teeth to get a regular service let alone good service. Again, the food was really good, and that alone was the only positive.

The chicken was good too and the köfte meatballs were my least favorite of the bunch. The pita bread was also fire and super fresh, honestly one of the best I've had when it's heated up and warm. It's one of those places that's reliable and feels pretty consistent, knowing you're going to leave happy and full after eating here. The two times we've been there, theres always plenty of seating and are able to walk right in. It's a walk in and seat yourself experience and then you pay upon leaving. The staff keeps the dining area and buffet line consistently stocked and clean. They even provide hand sanitizer and gloves for you. Even when foot traffic picked up while we were there, the food was replenished quickly and didn't look picked over. Now let's talk food...Everything tastes fresh, well-seasoned, and like it was made with care instead of just being "buffet food" an under seasoned. The variety is also amazing, and it's easy to build a plate for pretty much any type of diet whether you're keto, high protein, balanced, veggie-forward, vegan, etc... Some of our favorite dishes we keep coming back for: Shredded beef (SO good), Baked fish (tender and not fishy), Garlic baked chicken (wonderful crispy skin), Fried chicken, Baked kafta, Kafta kebab, Gyro meat, Roasted cauliflower, Eggplant, Greek salad, Fatoush, Kale Caesar salad, Zaatar pizza, Cheese pizza (pro tip: top it with shredded beef- a life changing buffet hack), Rice with lentils, Rice with mixed veggies. For the quality, variety and amount of food you get, this is easily one of the best deals in the city! It's rare to find a buffet that's both affordable and consistently this good! If I had one small wish, it would be for desserts to match how strong the rest of the food is. They're not bad, just a little more "fine" compared to how amazing everything else is. I've seen another Dimassi's (I think in Cali) that had a frozen yogurt machine and I'd LOVE to see that here because it would be the perfect finish! Make a cup and then crumble up some baklava on it! Overall we've LOVED it here and we'll absolutely keep coming back! Great food, clean, consistent, and worth it every time!

Between me, my husband, and my mom, we have a lot of overlap in what we like to eat, but we also have some pretty distinct preferences, and Demassi's is one of those places where that works. My husband really loves Middle Eastern / Mediterranean food. I generally do not. I tend to find the meats too dry, I don't particularly like the spice profile, and I also find a lot of dishes in that category to be overly sour. It's hard to explain, but there's often a sharp, tangy acidity that I don't enjoy. For whatever reason, I don't have that issue at Demassi's at all. Here my husband can get his fix of dry, spiced meats, while I'm happy eating from the huge selection of rice dishes, cooked veggies, and soups. As far as protein goes, I actually really like the fish here, so I almost never eat the meat and still leave satisfied. It usually feels like a healthy pescatarian day for me, which I like. Then there's my mom, who just loves the abundance and variety of a buffet. She's happiest when she can sample a little bit of everything, build plates with lots of small bites, and then go back for more. Demassi's is perfect for that. On top of all of this, it's very reasonably priced, especially for lunch or on weeknights. It's always clean, the staff is consistently courteous, and they are really on top of bussing tables, which matters a lot to me at a buffet. Dirty dishes piling up are never an issue here. Overall, it's a solid, reliable spot for us and a place we're always happy to suggest when we're trying to please multiple people with different tastes.

The place has a large patio area as well as indoor seating, plus a sizable bar with TVs. I felt the food was fresh and well-prepared. I do wish there had been more shrimp in my pita and that the price was lower. I paid $19 for a pita with just three shrimp, and there was an extra charge for the salad instead of fries. Since we don't eat out as much as we used to, I'm not sure when we will return.

The space has a fun, lively feel, and it's actually a great spot to post up and get some work done too. The WiFi is reliable, and they've got a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The patio wraps around the back, which gives you a few different options depending on your mood. I don't usually do caffeine, but I made an exception here because I was too curious not to try a few things. I got the baklava latte and a Greek frappe, and honestly, no regrets. Both were really good and felt like a treat. Out front, you've got the busy street, which somehow ends up feeling kind of meditative while you sit and sip. I've also never had an issue with parking, which is always a plus. Looking forward to coming back and exploring the food menu more, but even just for drinks and coworking, it's already a solid spot.

Parking was a bit of a challenge but was able to park on the curb out front. Once inside, we placed our order at the counter and pre-paid and were given a number. They have an extensive menu with traditional Greek dishes and all-day breakfast options. As well as a full bar offering aromatic coffee, hand-crafted cocktails, fine wine, and a selection of local and international beers. The restaurant was busy we were able to place our order in a timely fashion. I opted for a cocktail along with lentils and rice and added chicken as the protein. There was indoor and outdoor seating available. After ordering, we sat outside in the most cozy and intimate outdoor seating area. Unfortunately, after waiting 30+ minutes, we never received our food. When we checked at the counter, the interaction felt pretty condescending, staff insisted the order had already been brought out even though we never received it and still had our number with us. At that point we had to cancel the order so we wouldn't miss our show. I do appreciate that they offered a full refund without issue, but overall the experience left us disappointed, especially with how the situation was handled.

My…read moreboyfriend and I decided to check it out while looking for an early dinner spot on a Saturday evening, and we were pleasantly impressed from the start. The waitstaff were extremely attentive and welcoming--two men and one woman--and made us feel comfortable right away. One of the male servers took the time to walk us through much of the menu, thoughtfully explaining the different dishes, which we really appreciated. We started with a shareable appetizer: the pick-three dips with pita. The portion came with plenty of pita, and we chose the eggplant dip, a split pea-based dip, and a whipped potato dip. While all were good, the whipped potato dip was my favorite--it was unique and especially delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the vegetable skewer. The presentation was beautiful, and the dish was very flavorful. It also came with pickled vegetables, which added a nice balance. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp dish that was more stew-like; he mentioned the tomatoes tasted very fresh and really enjoyed it. Overall, the meal was filling, well-portioned, and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be coming back.

Or better yet make a reservation from their website. We were able to seat outside half way under the covered patio, I'm giving a 4 because of the pesky flies/bees which I know they have no control over but maybe a few bug zappers wouldn't hurt. Started off with a Mimosa, then added the Melitzana, roasted eggplant like a course dip with fresh pita bites & pickled vegetables, so yummy. I ordered the Avgolemono Soup, extra creamy with egg and delicious. It was really good. My friend ordered the Aegean Omelette, wow that was a plate full of deliciousness. Our server was very attentive, kept our water glasses full, and made sure we had extra pita for our dip. Highly recommend, will be returning for dinner service.

The staff member that I dealt with was personable, pleasant, etc. Only one negative--I wish I could give the place a 4.5, but I don't think a 4 is fair--After I indicated that I was finished eating and ready for the bill (maybe I didn't communicate it so clearly?), it seemed to take quite a while before they came with the check. Otherwise, great food! (I did not try the hookah at all.) Oh, I forgot to mention: I was served a bottle of spring water rather than a bottle of "purified" water. That was fairly impressive.

The hardwood ceiling and the glass window in front of me seemed to amplify sound from every direction. I was with a group of six men, and none of us could hear each other. As the noise increased, every table seemed to raise its volume just to communicate, and it became painful. The food had a BBQ flavor, which was different for Mexican food. Some people may like that, but it was not what I expected. It was 4 star food. I think sitting outside would probably be much better.
