I didn't know this restaurant existed until I literally stumbled upon it during ACL after a morning run. I was walking by on Barton Sorings Road and a gambling company, LoneStar Bold, offered a wheel spin for a prize, I was skeptical but took them up on the offer and spun the wheel; I received a coupon for a free appetizer. The offer was only good for that day, so I redeemed it on the spot with my friend Gigi, who also won. I ordered the Glazed Carrots & Feta appetizer, which included honey, pistachios, and chili flakes. I couldn't finish it at the restaurant, so they allowed takeout and packaged it in a beautiful bag. I had brunch at Oria with my girlfriends, and it was a great experience! I ordered the mushroom shawarma bowl, and it was SOOO good! The ingredients tasted fresh and authentic, and I really appreciated that they had delicious vegetarian options. The ambience was amazing too! The furniture and decor are super cute, making it such a beautiful spot for a girls' brunch or a daytime date. I also loved that they have parking available, which made everything so much more convenient. Oria has great food, great vibes and great service. There is free parking in a garage right behind the restaurant. Cozy outdoor area with fans and lighting, in addition to the indoor seating. The menu is unique with a good variety. For appetizers we tried the hummus and glazed carrots & feta. The hummus was tasty, but the pita bread dried out rather quickly. The carrots were two very thick halves. For some reason, I was expecting smaller fingerling carrots. The whipped feta and pistachios were really good. I ordered braised short rib for an entree, which didn't really fit the Mediterranean theme of the rest of the options. However, it was excellent. Overall, we had a great experience. Wow! My girlies and I aim to go to a new place every girls' night out. Tonight, Oria was our destination and was splendid! I think this is the first place that we actually want to come back to soon! I was not expecting to be so filled and have leftovers! I ordered the lamb shank and had enough for another meal at home (which my little one is devouring as we speak). The drinks were superb as well! Very creative mixes that I haven't seen anywhere else in the area. There is a free parking garage behind the restaurant but my friends and I with trucks resorted to parking in a lot one building down (on the other side of Lou's next door, currently an empty building). This option if course is paid but still much more affordable than other paid parking options in the city. Service was also good. Our waitress gave great recommendations, all of which we ordered and loved. The girls and I are definitely looking forward to another GNO here. read more

The worst hummus we've ever had. Wondering if there was gum in their recipe because it had a gooey consistency. It looked so pretty but it was very odd and unlike any hummus we've had anywhere in the world! We took it home and let it sit overnight hoping it would get better but it was the same. See video! Beautiful spot! A bit of a drive from me but I made it out for a happy hour with some girl friends. We ordered drinks and most of the happy hour bites (pescatarian friendly), and a few other shareables. We were there early on Labor Day, so not many tables were filled until later at night. Service was a bit slow and it was hard to flag down someone when we were hungry and ready! The food came out quickly once we ordered. Because of my friend being pescatarian, we leaned into the veggie and seafood forward dishes. This included the tuna tartare, salmon flatbread, and ceviche tostada. Everything was refreshing but the ceviche was far too minty for me. There was also some unexpected heat from the tuna tartare which has some jalepenos in it. I liked the salmon flatbread the most. Smoked corn was good. Hummus was okay for me, I think I was hoping the pita would be fluffier but it was quite subpar. I liked the baked brie which came with pastry puffs. I visited Oria this weekend during brunch, and as much as I would love to give it five stars, it is incredibly disappointing to enter a Mediterranean restaurant and have 80% of the menu be meat-oriented. Sorry, but a fatoush salad is not enough to count as an entrée. Mediterranean cuisine is one of my favorites BECAUSE it is so easy to cater to vegetarian palettes. Falafel saves the day in so many ways, chickpeas are the essential proteins...but it did not seem that way on Oria's brunch menu. Sure there were some egg dishes, but I can get that at any brunch place in Austin and not my ideal dish at a Mediterranean restaurant. Because of the lack of options, I ended up eating a bread-heavy appetizer. The flatbread with a sweet honey butter, and the beet hummus dip that also came with quartered pita bread. Don't get me wrong, I love bread, but if everyone else gets to choose from 10 entrees, I would like to at least get to choose from 3 decent vegetarian ones. I came here a couple nights ago with my partner. I loved it! We ordered the olives, sourdough pita, hummus, roasted nappa cabbage, and the lamb shank. All of the food was really delicious and filling. My only comaint is that the cabbage didnt have enough toppings or flavour to fill all the layers of the cabbage, and the bottom layers of cabbage tasted pretty plain. The service was great, our server was very attentive and kind! The ambiance was amazing. I loved the string lights and the fountain, definetly a very beautiful restaurant and I would come back if i have some money to spend. Another small issue i had was the parking - I came during ACL so this couldve only been an issue because of that, but we had to pay $10 for parking, and we were not guaranteed a spot. Honestly I was surprised to see that the average rating is so low for this place! It was packed but our food came out so quick, which is always appreciated. Staff was great and super kind about us coming late and the entrées were delicious, as well as the Moroccan mint tea that the waitress recommended when I asked for a sweet tea. Some time to think I'm updating my reservation to only three stars and I have to be honest. I don't think I'll be back. There are lots of other great places in Austin and this vibe is just a bit ramshackle. It's too bad because that area is kind of a restaurant desert. Thursday night dinner reservation for 6:45. They provide complimentary parking in the garage behind and getting here was fun. This isn't easy to see from the road so I passed by initially and had to U-turn. Easy parking in the garage behind and the steps lead directly to the front of the restaurant. The pizza oven with the fresh pita is right up front so you get a love welcoming smell. The patio looked amazing and sorta wish it wasn't so dang hot to sit and enjoy it. Initially had a table but sat at the bar instead. The team was attentive and overall very pleasant. Started with the wood fired fresh pita with a mustard honey butter (to die for...sooo yummy), and got the artichoke and goat cheese spread which was def artichoke forward, not my favorite item. And the braised lamb shank for main entree. Here's where I really need to ask questions/google stuff. Wasn't sure what the 'moorish spice hi' was and should have asked. The flavor was very strong and a bit overwhelming. When I searched I think the issue was the coriander which is also known for its leaves aka cilantro. This is a beautiful place! The patio, the inside room, plants, curtains and comfortable chairs. Five of us for my Birthday dinner, it was lovely celebration. Our server, Lizzy, was lovely. We had so much food, delicious food. We started with baba ghanoush, hummus, tuna tartar, olives, anchovies and sour dough pita. Everything was delectable! I had the most amazing charred octopus, best I ever had. Came on a Saturday for brunch; reservation was easy to make on Resy with a lot of availability still as I think this is still a pretty new restaurant. The location is right off Barton springs where the old Austin eastciders was. The garage is free for patrons so easy to get to and access. Ambiance inside is really nice, bohemian tropical / Greek island interior. Service is solid and the overall place is great for a nicer time out with friends. Dishes are portioned for sharing which is great since there are such a variety of options and flavors. We ordered the Oria Labneh (10/10) and Lamb Kefta (10/10) along with some pita. They even have mist fans going to provide relief on hot summer days. Once seated we ordered a few appetizers to share. Please note that this restaurant has no vegetarian main dishes at all. They said that they are working on this, but as of now not very vegetarian friendly. 1. Sourdough Pita - 10/10. Oria was nice, but not a standout among the many elevated Mediterranean concepts in Austin. Most dishes were very good, but nothing really stood out as excellent, and certain ones were a bit lacking. Our favorites were the roasted artichoke and goat cheese, the sourdough pita, and the basque cheesecake. But some of the other dishes, even those highlighted in the menu, were a bit lacking. The fire roasted sea bass for example was more bone than fish, and not very flavorful. But my biggest criticism is probably portion size: after 9 dishes plus drinks split between 6 people, I left a bit hungry! Even their "medium" and main plates are not very large. I have to give them credit for the wonderful job they did with the decor and exterior of the restaurant- I've visited 3 different restaurants in this same location over the last 5 years and Oria has made the space its own. For our last night in Austin, we had dinner at Oria. It's a new Mediterranean restaurant. It feels like we walked into like a Mediterranean garden. The patio and dining area was so beautiful. Every dish we got was so tasty. My favorite was the fire roasted whole sea bass! It was so tender and flavorful. We also got the wood fire sour dough pita. They sell it individually though so we just split it for us to try. And they have just regular soft pita with the other sides. We also had the tuna tartare, hummus, olives, and agean prawns. We literally devoured it all so fast, it was so quiet while we were eating lol. For entrees we got the sea bass, seared scallops, butcher steak and chicken skewer. There wasn't much scallops in the plate it was more pork belly which was pretty good. Butcher steak was tender. The chicken skewer wasn't my favorite. It was dry and lacked flavor. The drinks were so yummy! I got the garden gimlet and it was so good I got 2 orders After our meal we ordered the dark chocolate mousse and basque cheesecake. Both were very delicious! Not too sweet! We were celebrating my friends bday too and they gave her sorbet with candles which was super cute! Overall this restaurant was def worth it. The ambiance and food were great! This restaurant is a cesspool of culinary malpractice! 'Highlights' of our recent visit include: 1. Potatoes that were burnt on the outside, yet raw inside. 2. Scrambled eggs that were not scrambled, but where the white and yellow were unmixed. 3. The scrambled eggs were also very dry, unsalted, with no salt available on the tables. 4. Similarly the poached egg on the Labneh was unsalted, and again no salt available on the table. 5. The Labneh was also nothing to cheer about. 6. A full bar, that apparently 'was behind' so no drinks other than beer or wine were available. 7. No Wood-fired sourdough Pita available to accompany the Labneh or hummus, etc. 8. No ketchup available to hide the mediocre taste. 9. Eggs Benedict with Croissant that did not have any croissant. Yes the eggs did sit on some kind of bread. But this was the worst Eggs Benedict that we ever had. Given the massive publicity that this restaurant pays for in social media such as Facebook, and given what an excellent restaurant Abha is -- this restaurant seems to be an exploitation of Abha's great image at consumer cost. The decor that seems so appealing in advertisements, pales in comparison to the reality that Oria really is! The prices of course were very inflated. However I would not eat here even if the food was free! read more

We had an early dinner at Oria on Sunday evening. We got there a bit early but they were able to seat us while we waited for the third in our party. The patio is beautiful and we were seated at a table at the second level of the patio. It was beautifully decorated inside and out. I wasn't feeling up to par so I took just a few bites of each items we ordered and the two others in our party ate the rest. We had very little left after ordering several items. Everything was tasty and well presented. Because one of my friends is gluten free we had some confusion on a couple of orders but everything turned out well. A huge plus was free parking in the garage behind the restaurant so we didn't have to circle forever, but that could have also been because we were there early on a Sunday. ;-) We also ordered cocktails and a mocktail. The mezcal drink was lovely and they modified mine to bring syrup on the side since I minimize sugar/sweets. That said, the cheesecake was delicious and was one of the rare gluten free cheesecakes so my gluten free friend was able to eat it when she normally can't order cheesecakes! Saw the patio and was excited to try this spot! Showed up on a Sunday afternoon just after a sunshower (an absolute downpour) had passed through. With the patio now cute & soggy we opted for bar seats. Decor indoor and outdoor is so cute, ambiance was right on. Picked a few different items from the menu to share as a meal, and everything looked so delicious it was hard to choose. As someone who doesn't eat land animals there was still a really good amount of options. Miles & Olas took care of us to an exemplary standard, professional and very fun! The outside is really beautiful and inviting but too humid for us to be outside during summer. We got seated inside. The ambiance has a romantic setting but a bit noisy with the large tables celebrating Birthday Days. The bar had plenty of seats available. I ordered the fire wood pita it was so delicious soft and warm. hummus also comes with some sliced pitas. The chicken skewers were perfect spiced and moist. The desert was to die for. But don't just take my word for it, get out there and try it. They have parking available in the back inside a parking garage. Oria's main parking lot was completely full, so we checked their website, which explicitly directs guests to 'Additional parking available at: 300 S Lamar Blvd.' We followed their instructions and parked there. ​What they don't tell you on the website is that this lot charges astronomical, predatory rates. After we parked and finished our meal, we asked for validation and were told they don't validate. By then, it was too late--we were hit with a shocking $68 fee for just two hours of parking! When I emailed management to warn them that they are directing guests to a $68 parking trap, they were completely dismissive, stating they don't own the lot and taking zero responsibility for misleading their customers. It is incredibly bad hospitality to recommend an unvetted, exorbitant parking garage on your official website and leave your guests to foot the bill. We stopped in to Oria to check out the vibe. What a beautiful spot with relaxing outdoor seating and indoor dining and bar. It looks like they will eventually have an outdoor bar open as well. If you are just looking for an Instagrammable restaurant and don't care about the food, this spot is great. However, if you care about the food and want good Mediterranean food, this is not the spot. We ordered several of the most popular dishes, chicken & lamb skewers, eggplant dip, pita, etc. and were expecting the spot to be at least average. However, none of the food came seasoned. This is not coming from someone who loves salty or spicy food, but I had never eaten at a restaurant before that did not use spices. It just seemed odd, especially since it was a "Mediterranean" spot. The eggplant dip had ZERO seasoning in it. It was extremely bland and seemed to be whipped/watered down to increase volume, which caused it lose flavor and thickness. The skewers/ kebabs also had zero seasoning and were tiny for the price. The lamb kebab was wrapped around the skewer very sadly and was clinging on by crumbs because of how thin it had been wrapped. The chicken kebab was very dry, and neither skewer had seasoning on it. Service was not great either. People at the bar were very nice and attentive. However, the servers forgot about several of our orders multiple times, and each dish came out individually instead of bringing out all the skewers/ main entrees together. It was not greatly timed. Overall, I would not recommend this spot. It is not authentic Mediterranean, and you can find way better local spots. Giving 2 stars for the ambiance. 4/10! read more

For food, we got the Hummus, shakshuka and brunch burger. The burger came out raw and had to be sent back. The staff did a great job at trying to rectify the issue which i appreciated. It didn't help the cause that at the end, when we got our bill, i had to double take the receipt because they doublecharged for the burger. Burger was alright, not the best. Pita was clearly old and had to be reheated to not be stale. For dessert, we ended with the honey frozen greek yogurt. It tasted more like an ice cream with some tartness that you would typically get from a greek yogurt, but it lacked the creaminess and tanginess to get my nod of approval. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, the damage done here was around $80 for everything. Food was just alright and it didn't help that my burger was served raw. I'd come back and try more of the wine list. Three of us decided to go here for dinner on a Sunday night at about 530pm. We were able to find a seat indoors as a walk in but that seemed very lucky. I would advise to make a reservation online to avoid possibly not getting a table at busy times. We ordered a drink each, sunny spritz, date old fashion and the rose spritz. Everyone enjoyed their choice. The rose spritz was very rose forward so if you're not into very floral flavors, avoid this one. We ordered items for the table to share. Starting with the whipped artichoke goat cheese dip with short ribs (plus $4) and the sourdough pita. All the dips come with pita but I do highly recommend the flame baked sourdough one as it comes with honey mustard butter. The server brought out a dip without the short rib at first but the waitress said it was correct, so we started digging in. It was delicious. Moments later, our actual dip with the short rib came out. Thankfully, we got to keep both (I do not at all believe you need two for three people. This was very filling for the three of us). The braised short rib is def delicious and worth the minimal up charge. We then did shared plates: carrots and whipped feta, the hamachi, braised lamb shank, and the lamb kebab. Every dish was spectacular. They come out very quickly. The whipped feta under the carrots was to die for. I didn't like the hamachi. The coconut sauce for me tasted a little sour. Everything else was absolutely spectacular. The shank meat and polenta was a little cold, which was surprising, but still delicious. We finished off with the basque cheesecake. This is a must. Soft, creamy, decadent. The figs were a texture miss for two of us but the cheesecake itself was incredible. Overall, the meal and tip came to over $200 which sadly just feels par for the course for a nice meal out in austin. It was very, very good though. The setting itself is also very gorgeous. Parking is ok for now, the garage nearby has a broken ticket machine so you can park there without issue BUT I don't know if they provide validation for the garage if the ticket is working. It looked like the other restaurants close by do but Oria wasn't on the signs for reimbursements. This spot is gorgeous and serves delicious food and cocktails. I do highly recommend just be sure to snag a reservation and expect to throw down when it comes to cash. read more
