Came on a Saturday for brunch; reservation was easy to make on Resy with a lot of availability still as I think this is still a pretty new restaurant. The location is right off Barton springs where the old Austin eastciders was. The garage is free for patrons so easy to get to and access. Ambiance inside is really nice, bohemian tropical / Greek island interior. Service is solid and the overall place is great for a nicer time out with friends. Dishes are portioned for sharing which is great since there are such a variety of options and flavors. We ordered the Oria Labneh (10/10) and Lamb Kefta (10/10) along with some pita. Left feeling satisfied enough but not stuffed. Expect a higher price point overall but a good time overall if you're willing to pay up a little. read more

What a let down. Lots of excitement around this place on Instagram, but the place did not live up to the hype on Father's Day. We ordered a number of dishes (octopus, pita, halibut, scallops, etc.) which were heavily sauced, but overall really good. The date old-fashioned & Smoke House were balanced. The front of the house is where they could use a lot of work. The handful of interactions we had were dismal. It was shocking. Showed up on a Friday evening around 9ish. My friend and I love food so tried out the Mediterranean restaurant. There was a small wait for the table not bad at all. The outside is really beautiful and inviting but too humid for us to be outside during summer. We got seated inside. The ambiance has a romantic setting but a bit noisy with the large tables celebrating Birthday Days. The bar had plenty of seats available. I ordered the fire wood pita it was so delicious soft and warm. hummus also comes with some sliced pitas. The chicken skewers were perfect spiced and moist. The desert was to die for. But don't just take my word for it, get out there and try it. They have parking available in the back inside a parking garage. Stunning new Middle Eastern restaurant in South Austin! Breathtaking patio with Demi covered seating, beautifully designed, a total vibe. Definitely sit outside if you can / weather permits! They even have mist fans going to provide relief on hot summer days. Once seated we ordered a few appetizers to share. Please note that this restaurant has no vegetarian main dishes at all. They said that they are working on this, but as of now not very vegetarian friendly. 1. Sourdough Pita - 10/10. Epic flavor served with a unique smoked mustard seed honey butter spread that complemented it beautifully. 2. Artichoke & goat cheese spread - 6/10. Not my favorite menu item. I'd recommend trying a different spread. 3. Scorched corn - 5/10. Not flavorful and corn was undercooked. 4. Glazed carrots and feta - 9/10, very delicious! Oria was nice, but not a standout among the many elevated Mediterranean concepts in Austin. Most dishes were very good, but nothing really stood out as excellent, and certain ones were a bit lacking. Our favorites were the roasted artichoke and goat cheese, the sourdough pita, and the basque cheesecake. But some of the other dishes, even those highlighted in the menu, were a bit lacking. The fire roasted sea bass for example was more bone than fish, and not very flavorful. But my biggest criticism is probably portion size: after 9 dishes plus drinks split between 6 people, I left a bit hungry! Even their "medium" and main plates are not very large. I have to give them credit for the wonderful job they did with the decor and exterior of the restaurant- I've visited 3 different restaurants in this same location over the last 5 years and Oria has made the space its own. It's a nice spot for a nice dinner, just not the best dinner you'll ever have! read more

For our last night in Austin, we had dinner at Oria. It's a new Mediterranean restaurant. It feels like we walked into like a Mediterranean garden. The patio and dining area was so beautiful. Every dish we got was so tasty. My favorite was the fire roasted whole sea bass! It was so tender and flavorful. We also got the wood fire sour dough pita. They sell it individually though so we just split it for us to try. And they have just regular soft pita with the other sides. We also had the tuna tartare, hummus, olives, and agean prawns. We literally devoured it all so fast, it was so quiet while we were eating lol. For entrees we got the sea bass, seared scallops, butcher steak and chicken skewer. There wasn't much scallops in the plate it was more pork belly which was pretty good. Butcher steak was tender. The chicken skewer wasn't my favorite. It was dry and lacked flavor. The drinks were so yummy! I got the garden gimlet and it was so good I got 2 orders After our meal we ordered the dark chocolate mousse and basque cheesecake. Both were very delicious! Not too sweet! We were celebrating my friends bday too and they gave her sorbet with candles which was super cute! Overall this restaurant was def worth it. The ambiance and food were great! Oria on Barton Springs Road was such a beautiful surprise. The atmosphere is lush, horticultural, and effortlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces into what feels like a modern garden retreat. THE BIG: Vibey mediterranean spot right off of barton springs road. Interior and exterior is gorgeous with plenty of seating. Parking garage is available for 3 hours. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here on a Sunday afternoon to grab some lunch with the wife and newborn son. Oria is absolutely beautiful decor wise. Very bohemian mediterranean vibes. We were seated inside since it was a bit hot outside. The service is very attentive and we got in our order as the kitchen was slated to close at 3pm. For food, we got the Hummus, shakshuka and brunch burger. The burger came out raw and had to be sent back. The staff did a great job at trying to rectify the issue which i appreciated. It didn't help the cause that at the end, when we got our bill, i had to double take the receipt because they doublecharged for the burger. Burger was alright, not the best. Pita was clearly old and had to be reheated to not be stale. For dessert, we ended with the honey frozen greek yogurt. It tasted more like an ice cream with some tartness that you would typically get from a greek yogurt, but it lacked the creaminess and tanginess to get my nod of approval. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, the damage done here was around $80 for everything. Food was just alright and it didn't help that my burger was served raw. I'd come back and try more of the wine list. We stopped in to Oria to check out the vibe. What a beautiful spot with relaxing outdoor seating and indoor dining and bar. It looks like they will eventually have an outdoor bar open as well. The staff were all very friendly and the bartenders were nice and gave recommendations. I had a very refreshing golden hour spritz and we tried the smokehouse with Mezcal. Both drinks were fabulous. We wanted a little snack, but we missed happy hour sadly. This time we tried their himachi. I thought it was pretty good, but it needed something like a chip to eat it with. We had an early dinner at Oria on Sunday evening. We got there a bit early but they were able to seat us while we waited for the third in our party. The patio is beautiful and we were seated at a table at the second level of the patio. It was beautifully decorated inside and out. I wasn't feeling up to par so I took just a few bites of each items we ordered and the two others in our party ate the rest. We had very little left after ordering several items. Everything was tasty and well presented. Because one of my friends is gluten free we had some confusion on a couple of orders but everything turned out well. A huge plus was free parking in the garage behind the restaurant so we didn't have to circle forever, but that could have also been because we were there early on a Sunday. ;-) We also ordered cocktails and a mocktail. The mezcal drink was lovely and they modified mine to bring syrup on the side since I minimize sugar/sweets. That said, the cheesecake was delicious and was one of the rare gluten free cheesecakes so my gluten free friend was able to eat it when she normally can't order cheesecakes! Priced appropriately (surprising). Try the old fashioned. It's good. Don't try the pretty in rose spritz. It's not good. Started with the artichokes and goat cheese. Jar that stuff and sell it in the too small garage to the hungry, circling clientele. I could eat that every day. Charred octopus with papas bravado is superb. I've had better, but only once. Put it on your itinerary. The lamb kefta is good. Liked the mint in the tzatziki. Finished with the Basque cheesecake. It was a little over the top and too sweet, but not bad. Everything here is extremely mid! The ambiance and decor is gorgeous. However, that is all the spot has going for it. If you are just looking for an Instagrammable restaurant and don't care about the food, this spot is great. However, if you care about the food and want good Mediterranean food, this is not the spot. We ordered several of the most popular dishes, chicken & lamb skewers, eggplant dip, pita, etc. and were expecting the spot to be at least average. However, none of the food came seasoned. This is not coming from someone who loves salty or spicy food, but I had never eaten at a restaurant before that did not use spices. It just seemed odd, especially since it was a "Mediterranean" spot. The eggplant dip had ZERO seasoning in it. It was extremely bland and seemed to be whipped/watered down to increase volume, which caused it lose flavor and thickness. The skewers/ kebabs also had zero seasoning and were tiny for the price. The lamb kebab was wrapped around the skewer very sadly and was clinging on by crumbs because of how thin it had been wrapped. The chicken kebab was very dry, and neither skewer had seasoning on it. Service was not great either. People at the bar were very nice and attentive. However, the servers forgot about several of our orders multiple times, and each dish came out individually instead of bringing out all the skewers/ main entrees together. It was not greatly timed. Overall, I would not recommend this spot. It is not authentic Mediterranean, and you can find way better local spots. Giving 2 stars for the ambiance. 4/10! read more

Three of us decided to go here for dinner on a Sunday night at about 530pm. We were able to find a seat indoors as a walk in but that seemed very lucky. I would advise to make a reservation online to avoid possibly not getting a table at busy times. We ordered a drink each, sunny spritz, date old fashion and the rose spritz. Everyone enjoyed their choice. The rose spritz was very rose forward so if you're not into very floral flavors, avoid this one. We ordered items for the table to share. Starting with the whipped artichoke goat cheese dip with short ribs (plus $4) and the sourdough pita. All the dips come with pita but I do highly recommend the flame baked sourdough one as it comes with honey mustard butter. The server brought out a dip without the short rib at first but the waitress said it was correct, so we started digging in. It was delicious. Moments later, our actual dip with the short rib came out. Thankfully, we got to keep both (I do not at all believe you need two for three people. This was very filling for the three of us). The braised short rib is def delicious and worth the minimal up charge. We then did shared plates: carrots and whipped feta, the hamachi, braised lamb shank, and the lamb kebab. Every dish was spectacular. They come out very quickly. The whipped feta under the carrots was to die for. I didn't like the hamachi. The coconut sauce for me tasted a little sour. Everything else was absolutely spectacular. The shank meat and polenta was a little cold, which was surprising, but still delicious. We finished off with the basque cheesecake. This is a must. Soft, creamy, decadent. The figs were a texture miss for two of us but the cheesecake itself was incredible. Overall, the meal and tip came to over $200 which sadly just feels par for the course for a nice meal out in austin. It was very, very good though. The setting itself is also very gorgeous. Parking is ok for now, the garage nearby has a broken ticket machine so you can park there without issue BUT I don't know if they provide validation for the garage if the ticket is working. It looked like the other restaurants close by do but Oria wasn't on the signs for reimbursements. This spot is gorgeous and serves delicious food and cocktails. I do highly recommend just be sure to snag a reservation and expect to throw down when it comes to cash. read more

Good first experience at Oria on the whole! We had a reservation, which I highly recommend as there did not appear to be spaced for walk-ins. Indoor seating is a little bit of a mixed bag and I would recommend enjoying your food and drinks on the patio if possible. That is definitely the vibe, but you have to specify that in your reservation if that's your desire. The highlight of the meal was absolutely the basque cheesecake... absolute perfection. The starters and mains were all good enough but nothing super memorable the way the dessert was. Carrots were excellent but came out a bit lukewarm instead of hot. The feta dip was good - very different from Aba which is still my favorite. The only thing I definitely would not recommend is been carpaccio, it was much more thick than I'm used to, more like raw sliced roast beef. Cocktails were outstanding! I will come back again soon to sip cocktails on the patio and have the cheesecake. I hope that stays on the menu forever! read more

It's new so I will be back to try again, but definitely seems like they're still working out some kinks! We sat on the patio and the vibe is great- very clean and good layout. We had dinner and it was still HOT, so I think I'd avoid outdoor seating as it gets hotter. I would also love to see more fly fans and fans in general. A lot of the greenery was fake, which didn't seem in line with the higher menu price points. Our server was great about checking in even though it was busy, but we did have a couple items that needed to be re-requested after they didn't arrive (extra pita, a glass of ice, etc). We also had 8 drinks between the group, and 2 were sent back and remade. Again- it's a new spot, and the drinks made correctly were very good! For food- the wood fired pita was the winner! In retrospect, I'll try the whipped feta instead of the artichoke dip next time, which actually had minimal artichoke. The octopus was also really good but beware of spice! I got a steak as my main and ordered it medium/medium rare, but it definitely came out rare. We got the lemon tart for dessert and again it was fine, but seemed either unfinished or just rushed. I'm writing this review from my table at Aba on South Congress because my wife and I quickly left Oria. It was a combination of poor service, a waitress whose enunciation was so poor and spoke so fast that we couldn't understand anything, and lack of warm drink options (no coffee, no hot tea, no soup). Then came the appetizer and while the baba ganoush was okay, the olives were really not great and the bread underwhelming. This is no Aba... It's too bad because the interior decoration is cute and this could be a nice experience. The last straw is when we told the waitress we would stop at the appetizer, she grabbed the baba ganoush plate my wife was finishing and left the olives but made sure we had no more utensils to grab them. read more

WOW beautiful new spot! My friend and I made reservations for an early dinner on a Friday. The patio is stunning - definitely does not feel like you are on Barton Springs road. We both started with a golden hour spritz. Similar to an aperol spritz, but with strawberry infused aperol and blood orange. SO refreshing and served in a big goblet. We shared the baba ganoush with pita that came with it, hamachi, and prawns. We skipped the wood fired pita since the baba came with one, but I would like to try that next time. Everything was so good. The hamachi was a highlight. Small portions - we would both order more next time. They asked us to place our full order at once and they would course it out. This place is pretty good but has fierce competition that it cannot win against in terms of judging it as a restaurant first and foremost. Oria is a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant with some beautiful indoor and outdoor seating areas wonderful for a group of people to come have some bites and drinks at. The ambiance is what is pulling this entire place into the limelight for me. It's just fun to be physically there. Gorgeous walls, beautiful deck, real and faux plants all around. The service is decent, nice hostesses for sure, but not as smooth when you have a smaller table compared to some of the bigger tables with more allowance since the staggering of food is pretty inexistent. Price-wise it's what you're expecting from a trendy restaurant. However, I found the food to be lackluster. The hummus with braised short rib was merely ok (and let's be honest, another version of this at a more established Mediterranean-inspired restaurant in Austin is MILES better than this one). The mussels were ok, and I've had better octopus at a number of other restaurants less than 10 minutes from them. If I'm enjoying the basque cheesecake more than the actual dishes, then there might be a problem. The food is just ok and my two cocktails weren't notable (but I appreciate a tomato cocktail option). I would not go here for the food per se, but I still think it's a decent spot for catching up with friends over a brunch or some event where the food isn't the main focus. read more

The cucumber feta was super refreshing with great flavor, while the baba ghanoush was richer and a bit heavier in comparison. Both were good, but I'd especially recommend the cucumber feta during the hot summer months. For the main courses, we ordered the lamb shank and the salmon, and both portions were generous. The salmon was lighter and refreshing, which made it perfect for a warm evening. The lamb shank had great flavor as well -- the meat was tender, and the polenta with the creamy sauce paired really nicely with it. We enjoyed both dishes a lot. I'll start by saying the restaurant decor both interior and exterior is gorgeous, it's like you are transported to a Mediterranean villa. That said, unfortunately the food just misses the mark for me. We've tried several items such as the chicken skewer, lamb skewer, salads, hummus, sourdough you name it. The sourdough and dips are good, but we had to ask for serving utensils for our big group to be able to share. The salad and hamachi had a very odd off putting taste, and the other items were okay but not something I crave or would go back for and normally I love Mediterranean food! The drinks are delicious, you can't go wrong, so maybe go for some drinks and apps but skip the full meal. As for service, again just decent. Attended Oria for their soft opening and it was a good experience. Not super impressed with the food but the presentation and the ambiance (both the patio and inside) makes it a 5 star stop. Our server Brandon was great and had solid recommendations. 1. Parking was easy, free, and plentiful through the retail garage connected to Lou's 2. Their entryway/greeting setup was kind confusing and non-existent but this may have been due to the soft opening. 3. Drinks were great (tried old fashioned and golden hour spritz). They also gave us free glasses of champagne for our anniversary which was a big plus. 4. Appetizers of wood fired pita, hummus (came with more pita) and honey glazed carrots were spectacular. 5. Food of oven roasted chicken and beef short rib were presented well for pictures but the taste was pretty average and not that impressive compared to other spots. Was still good though! 6. Ordered the Basque Cheesecake and it was fantastic. It did take almost 20 minutes to come out but the service staff was apologetic, attentive, and ended up comping it from the bill. As you've read in other reviews, the decor is well done but this place misses the mark on food and service. The host isn't very welcoming if you arrive early, and the staff didn't try to help guests with ordering drinks from the bar if you weren't seated there. The service and food were not great. They mixed up both drinks and food - bringing an extra order of drinks and entrees, taking 20 minutes to bring water and repeatedly having to ask for utensils for a group of four. The food is just okay - entrees in particular are not that great: the branzino fish was badly undercooked (disappointing as that dish could be a star item). The chicken is just average. Oria was an incredible experience from start to finish! The ambiance, service and food quality were all outstanding. The pita with honey butter came out steaming from the wood fired oven and it was delightful. Butcher steak with chimichurri was the perfect medium rare and the baby potatoes had a slight smoky flavour that complemented the meat. Experience was ruined. We were extremely excited to try out Oria the next before. Prior to booking the reservation, we made sure to check the weather to ensure the best possible experience. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were called letting us know they had to move the patio reservations indoors causing a delay in our reservation (we booked indoors). Though we understand that the weather is unpredictable, it was definitely unprofessional of them to delay our reservation by around 40 minutes. After getting seated, we were greeted nicely and let the waiter know we needed some time to decide what to order. After saying this, she left us for 20 minutes, which was an absurdly long time to leave your table alone. We ordered all the appetizers and main courses at once hoping for it to come out faster because we were on a tight schedule. Before giving back the menus, we let her know we were going to order dessert afterwards. During our meal, we weren't asked a single "how's everything going" which would be understandable if it was busy, but it wasn't. After finishing the meal, we were immediately given the check despite letting her know we wanted to get dessert beforehand and we soon noticed that the pita bread we ordered never came out. Even though we pointed this out, it still came on the check and we had to mention it again. The service overall was not great and dismissive of their customers. It seemed like our presence wasn't welcomed. There is definitely room for improvement in management. The food was nothing special and the ambience was alright. We sadly won't be returning. read more

EXPERIENCE WAS COMPLETELY RUINED. We were extremely excited to try out this new place the night before. We're smart enough to pre-check the weather before we set the reservation. BUT apparently those fellas weren't intelligent enough like us. And clearly, the restaurant wasn't well educated about the climate, too. It was a rainy day (which we saw), the call and explanation were unprofessional, because we should've been the priority because of the reservations. They made all of us wait 30 min outside where they obviously acknowledged the rain. The inside waiting area was simply enough. They did have a nice outside design, though, but ruined by the rain. After waiting that long in the rain, we finally got seated at the corner while being all soaked up. Identically, as we sat down, we were greeted with a not-so-welcoming server. Right off the bat, the interaction between us and her were not friendly (someone was having a bad day..) We started ordering, and she was very impatient and dismissive. FYI, but if you want a bottle of sparkling H2O for 20 bucks, this is the perfect place for you. The whole time, the server did NOT check up on us at ALL, no "how's everything", "is there anything else I can get you", this is completely a bad example of how such a restaurant services at this pricing should be. If this were McDonald, sure, I'd take it. But if you make me pay 20 bucks for water, oh no, you are getting an honest review here. We ordered pita bread; it did not come out at all. After we pointed it out, she offered to take it off the check. But she proceeded to place it on the check, we are not that unaware, trust me. We've mentioned in the beginning that we wanted to do desert, and after 5 sec, we finished the food on the table, and a check was thrown at us. No words, just thrown on the table. I can smell how badly she wants us to leave there. There was absolutely no asking for dessert or mentioning it. At the end of the day, we were the bigger person. A mixed review here for Oria. The ambiance is probably my favorite part with outdoor being well presented and interior sticking with similar theme. The food was ok--nothing particularly memorable across a half dozen ordered items. Similar thoughts on the drinks. The pricing was higher than the quality entails. This place was meh, nothing really exceptional to want to come back there. The food was not good and not bad, a bit bland - hummus was mid, baba ganosh was a tasteless mush, and the signature fish was not bad. We could't try their wood fired oven pita, because they don't make it when it rains. Service also just good enough to not complain. We went there with a party of 6 on a Sunday evening. I like the vibe of the restaurant. The ambience is created nicely and has a consistent flow from the patio into the interior. Things have a local and high quality feel. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive, the staff friendly and the manager checked on our experience at the end of the meal. What needs work is the food. Let's start with the good. Probably some of the best octopus any one of us had before. Perfectly executed and good flavor. The pita bread is worth the hype. I could sit down and just eat that. Also the halibut was cooked well and combined good with the sauce and pomegranates. I did not try the chicken kebabs but they were referenced as tasty. The rest of the meal was mid at best. The Butcher steak had no seasoning and instead of a proper chimichurri was just parsley and garlic pieces (the manager was bringing a proper sample after which was good). The chicken skin was not crispy and it was slightly undercooked. The feta dip with the carrots was overly sweet and did have no taste of feta, the artichoke deep tasted only of garlic and the babaganoush was somewhat bland. Considering the price of the meal (over $400) you would expect a better executions. I was also surprised that the manager did not take any responsibility despite asking for and collecting the feedback. Went here a few weeks ago, food was very mid for the prices. The scallops were good but other than that, nothing was great. I'd go to Aba if i wanted hummus and feta dip. The shareable "orzo" on the menu was pretty much plain orzo. read more

Great spot for dinner and/or drinks. I came here last night and had hummus with braised short ribs, a ribeye steak, and the salmon. Everything we ate was very tasty and was high quality. I knew the ambience would be great but I was skeptical about the food because of the mixed reviews. Either we got lucky with what we ordered, or they have refined their menu since opening.
